incantation - @wolfstarmicrofic - 241
"So," James whispered, standing next to Sirius as they both waved their wands just how Flitwick had shown them, "when are you gonna tell Moony?"
"Tell Moony what?" Sirius responded, trying not to look too suspicious as he practiced the incantation in his head.
"That you're gone for him," James answered casually, smirking as he began to mumble Expecto Patronum, only to achieve white smoke.
"Wh-what?" Sirius stuttered, turning to James, who looked smug.
"You were staring at him the whole lecture. You doodle moons in your notes. Your Amortentia smells like chocolate, for fuck's sake," James chided, furrowing his eyebrows as he only conjured smoke again. "It's bloody obvious to everyone except Moony himself, Pads."
"You're barking," Sirius denied, rolling his eyes. But it was Remus who he was picturing as he focused himself on the spell. Remus, whose eyes were the perfect shade of brown. Remus, whose smile always made Sirius feel so safe, and a bit floaty. "Expecto Patronum," he murmured, his heart leaping when a corporeal animal jumped from the tip of his wand.
But James let out of a shout of laughter when they saw what it was: a giant, silvery wolf, short snout and tufted tail making him distinct in every way. "Yeah, Pads? Wanna tell me again what you said a second ago?"
And, blushing crimson, Sirius stared at Patronus-Moony, unable to deny his feelings, knowing that his own spell had sold him out.

Blind date
@wolfstarmicrofic | Word count: 215
"So... how was the date, mate?" James asked eagerly as soon as he saw Sirius, raising his eyebrows with curiosity. He had been insisting that Sirius try a blind date for a change, and it had been...
"Amazing," Sirius replied honestly, unable to suppress the huge smile spreading across his face. "He was... the most gorgeous man I've ever seen. You know how much I hate Greek mythology, but he loved it. And you know what? For the first time in my life, it sounded like the most interesting thing in the world. He loves books, and—"
"Wait," James interrupted, a confused expression on his face. "You said 'he'?"
Sirius frowned. "Yes... what's wrong with that?"
James's eyes widened. "The blind date I arranged for you... it was with a girl."
It was Sirius's turn to look surprised. He had been so enchanted by the beautiful stranger that he hadn't even checked his phone all night. He pulled it out of his pocket and froze as he read the message from hours ago:
"I am so sorry! I don't think I will make it in time for our date. Do you think we could reschedule?"
He stood there, trying to make sense of it. Who the hell had Sirius gone on a date with then?

I’m newer to the Harry Potter fandom in general, I just recently watched the movies for the first time and I’m almost done with the books.
I was so sad to almost be done with the story, only to find out that the fans have done more for the HP universe than Terf Rowling, while also making it inclusive and diverse??? Ya’ll have expanded it so much. Anyone of any identity in the fandom can go onto tumblr and find themselves majorly represented…I feel my screen time going up already.
There are so many corners of this fandom too, you can literally find, but also ignore, any ship/trope/character/etc. you want. And you can mix and match–I can find fics that use Gary and David as Sirius and Remus but also feature a Desi James??
Also the fact that there is a whole ass ship/fandom JUST for my two favorite characters?? (my legal guardians, sirius and remus). I’m never leaving.

@wolfstarmicrofic / First Kiss / 517 words
“You can’t just take off like that!” Remus reacted loudly. They had been living together for a year but they had never had a fight like this.
“Since when!?” Sirius was as angry as he was confused.
“Since always, Sirius. You always tell me when and where you are going out!”
“I don’t see James telling you everytime he goes out. I can take care of myself, Remus.” Sirius had stopped calling him anything but Moony for years now.
Remus kept feeling like he broke things, he just wanted Sirius to be okay. Everything that came out of Remus’ mouth felt wrong. He thought that Sirius would understand that it wasn’t about control, it was about him just wanting to know where exactly he would show up if Sirius ever called him to say he needed him. He just cared, maybe too much.
“It’s different,” was all Remus managed to say, his voice turning into something soft even if his eyes still seemed upset.
Sirius didn’t say anything back instantly, instead he got closer to Remus. They had always been comfortable standing near each other, especially when trying to talk. As if the closer their hearts were, the less words they needed.
“It’s different because-”
“Heeeey, we are back!” James barged into their apartment with Regulus right behind him.
“Get out James!” Remus and Sirius screamed in unison.
The loud demand made the couple retreat instantly with a few muffled laughs on their way out.
The moment the door closed they chuckled, but Remus continued. “Listen, I know you can take care of yourself, Sirius. I just can’t help but worry. Everytime you leave, every time you’re out of my sight… I can’t stop thinking about you.”
“Moony, talk to me.” Sirius’ hand reached for Remus’ fingers.
“I can’t lose you Sirius,” Remus confessed. The knot on his throat threatening to untangle into a river of tears. He didn’t need Sirius any other way, he could remain like this, as long as he still had him in his life. Remus couldn’t look at Sirius, not when ‘I love you’ was so close to slipping out.
“Look at me,” Sirius gently grabbed Remus’ chin and lifted it. “You are not like James to me either.”
“I am not?” Remus asked, searching desperately for anything more that would confirm what the meaning behind Sirius’ last words were.
As if his thoughts had become prayers, Sirius carefully lifted his hand and placed his palm on Remus’ cheek.
“Moony, you’re different for me too.” Remus could no longer control his feelings and tears started to fall down his cheek, damping Sirius’ hand. Sirius gently removed his hand and leaned in to kiss the place where his hand had left absent and kissed it.
“Sirius-” Remus said with a broken voice, but Sirius' lips slowly started pressing more kisses around his face. Remus opened his mouth once more, the final confession about to leave his lips.
“I know, Moony. Me too,” Sirius interrupted. Gently, his lips traveled to the only place that remained unkissed: Remus’ lips.
A first kiss. Their first kiss.

Wolfstar microfic
896 words of projecting onto Sirius. Today we will be examining my love language of gift giving [cue me handing my friends the fifty millionth leaf I picked on impulse on our walk because it looked cool]
“Flowers?”
Remus raised an eyebrow suspiciously at Sirius.
“What are these for?”
His friend towed at the ground awkwardly.
“I just-“
He trailed off, a light blush dusting his face as he furrowed his brows, as if trying to figure it out himself.
“I thought they were pretty and figured you would like them?”
Sirius shrugged.
“James would end up accidentally killing them and well I don’t think pretty flowers are really Peter’s kind of thing so that leaves you because you’re, er, perfect. I MEAN- for this kind of thing you know-“
“Yeah but why not a girl?”
Remus cut Sirius off mid ramble.
“I just…I haven’t got my eye on any girls at the moment.”
“Oh.”
Remus said weakly. And then because he couldn’t think of anything to say he grabbed the flowers from Sirius’ still outstretched hand.
“Thank you. They really are beautiful. It was very thoughtful.”
Sirius blushed again and glanced up a Remus wide eyed. Then he broke into a big grin. The wonky, truly happy kind that tugged on Remus’ heart strings when Sirius displayed it.
•••
Ever since then Sirius had start giving Remus more gifts. Leaves he thought were nice, more flowers, snacks. They’d be walking through the grounds when Sirius would suddenly go bounding into the bushes with no warning, leaving Remus stranded and slightly confused for a moment before emerging with a smile and a cool new rock he’d seen.
Needless to say Remus kept every one of the gifts. He put the flowers in a vase till they looked like they were going to wilt and then he pressed them and placed them carefully in the box he’d dedicated to Sirius’ gifts. He’d go through it often, whenever he thought about his friend …which was quite often actually. He’d known for a long while how he felt about Sirius, since second year honestly. But it was just a crush. Right?
•••
The thought hit him like a million bricks one Monday morning. They were sat at the table and he’d been watching Sirius’ head loll to the side, almost touching his shoulder as James chattered on to Peter, oblivious to how Sirius was fighting off sleep with big yawns and gentle head nods. That was until he wasn’t and Remus felt the soft flop of Sirius limp against his body. He let out a surprised laugh because honestly it was so cute. Sirius blinked awake groggily. He looked around gently in confusion for a moment before his eyes widened in realisation.
“Shit sorry Moons!”
Remus laughed again, more softly this time.
“It’s fine.”
It was cute.
“I didn’t mind.”
I love you.
Oh fuck I love you.
Matters progressed.
•••
Matters did not, in fact, progress. Not least because Sirius, unaware of the monumental realisation Remus had made around two months ago, continued to act the same. Until Remus absentmindedly entered the dorm one  random Saturday evening.
“Hey Pads have you seen my-“
Remus looked up sharply at the sound of a broken sob. He shut the door and quickly rushed over to find Sirius sat, kneeling on the floor surrounded by a little circle of stuff. Remus realised with a start it was the context of his ‘Sirius box’ he moved the belongings aside carefully and shuffled forward to face Sirius. He gently cupped Sirius’ face and lifted it to find tear stained cheeks and big watering eyes that made his heart ache.
“Sirius…”
He wanted to ask ‘whats wrong?’ Or ‘are you ok?’
Instead he just pulled his friend into in a big hug. Sirius gladly followed and buried his head against Remus’ shoulder. Once the the sobbing had died down a little Remus whispered gently to Sirius.
“Talk to me.”
He said, while carefully running his hands though Sirius’ hair.
Sirius mumbled something Remus couldn’t hear.
“Sorry I missed that love.”
Sirius peaked his head up, slowly at first and then meeting his eyes.
“Why do you still have all this…this garbage!”
Sirius exclaimed.
“I’m so stupid, so stupid.”
He whispered before erupting into tears again, wiping furiously at his face
“Hey no you’re not stupid? Why would you think that?”
“Because !”
Sirius gestured all around him.
“It’s all useless and it’s weird and- I’m weird. It’s so…it’s just one big waste of space. And you keep it because you’re nice but you shouldn’t. Because it’s dumb.”
“It’s not a waste of space- hey look at me.”
Sirius hesitantly met Remus’ steady gaze.
“Nothing you give me is a waste of space because you gave it to me. And I keep it all because I want to, not because I’m nice.”
“But why?”
“Because I care about you!”
Sirius faltered.
“No don’t say that.”
He whispered.
“What? Why?”
“Because I- it’s just not the same Moons. You care about me.”
Sirius’ voice was dangerously trembling now as he continued on.
“I love you.”
Remus froze, eyes wide and lips parted in shock.
“Remus? P-please say something. I’m sorry I-“
“I love you too.”
Remus wasted no more time in pulling Sirius in for a searingly warm kiss. The flavour of the chocolate Remus had just eaten mingling with the soft salt of Sirius’ tears as Remus pulled him ever closer. They broke apart softly and leaned their foreheads together.
“Be mine?”
Sirius whispered against the warm breath escaping from Remus’ lips.
“Gladly.”

Suddenly, Remus sees him everywhere.
Strands of black hair in winter-empty tree branches. Silver eyes in silver stars littering the night sky: sharp, soft. The calligraphy of ancient texts he reads for his thesis. Stories of Eurydice take on a new meaning and Remus can’t tell if he is her, dying in love, or Orpheus, looking back too early and dooming them both.
It’s not healthy, this kind of thinking. Near obsession. He sees his own breath, frozen and white as it left him at the touch of Sirius’ lips, sees it in the hot fog clouding the walls of his shower. Feels Sirius’ fingers as they clasped his own while he washes his body, drags his hands over the panes of his stomach and curls around himself, slow and then not slow at all. Closes his eyes here, nothing but hot water running down his hair the way Sirius gripped it tightly. Remembers each taste given to him from those hands and wishes he could taste the fingers instead, press his own lips to Sirius’ neck in retaliation – maybe in something else completely.

Remus: Sirius is my friend and if he loves me, it’s the same way he would love a sibling.
Regulus: Sirius is my brother and if he looked at me the way he looks at you, I would have to see a therapist.

Until one day he'd been standing with James and Peter, in the hallway. James had said something, Sirius can't even remember what. But he'd laughed. One of those big laughs. The type that fills your belly. That makes you cry. And when he'd looked up, he'd found Remus's eyes on him.
*Oh.*
That was something.
That was world altering.
The atoms in his body rearranged themselves under Remus's eyes. They needed. Needed. Needed him.
He'd asked Remus, several years later, what had made him look, since it couldn't have been the noise. And he'd only shrugged and said:
"Your laugh is so bright. It's impossible not to notice it. Like not noticing the sun is in the sky."

(slightly) poorly timed confession - @wolfstarmicrofic - word count: 159
"D'you ever have dreams about me?" Sirius asked, his thoughtful voice as vague as his expression, which was glazed over from the heat and incense seeping through the room.
James, flipping through the Divination text to define the meaning of their dreams, paused. "I dreamt we all got a detention for turning Slughorn into an actual slug once. Does that count?"
"Nah, just..." Sirius drifted off, but then his gaze snapped back to James's. "You never dream of me? Or- or Moony? Or Pete?"
"Not in detail," James answered uncomfortably, shifting on the cushion he was sitting on. "Why?"
The other boy paused. "What d'you suppose it means that I dream about Remus? Like...a lot?" he questioned softly, his face tinging a bit pink. "Like sometimes, we're k-"
But James, who had seen this coming for a while, just chuckled, closing the book in his hands, and interrupted by saying, "Nothing you can find in this stupid book, mate."
