Culture tends to argue that it forbids only that which is unnatural. But from a biological perspective, nothing is unnatural. Whatever is possible is by definition also natural. A truly unnatural behaviour, one that goes against the laws of nature, simply cannot exist, so it would need no prohibition. -Yuval Noah Harari, Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind https://www.instagram.com/p/CTlvR-kHAMT/?utm_medium=tumblr

“Be your own worst critic. When things go wrong it's tempting to shift the blame. Don't. Accept responsibility. People will appreciate it, and you will find out what you're capable of.” -Paul Arden, Whatever You Think, Think the Opposite I bought the book completely randomly while I was shopping for different things. The book is structured in one-page and two-page chapters, which makes it very easy to read. It is written in a relaxed manner, and the author uses a cynical approach, promoting the initiatives and unconventional methods. A motivational book, it challenges the way you think and prompts you to make the most out of yourself. #readingchallenge2021 : 40/50 #iizysareads #yslovebooks #bookish #bookhaul #booksofinstagram #bookstagrammer #bookworm #booknerd #bookaddict #bookphotography #booklife #booklovers #bibliophile #sapiophile #booklover #bookish #bookishlife #bookaholic #lifelessons #bookrecommendations #bookreview #whateveryouthinkthinktheopposite #paularden https://www.instagram.com/p/CTjJxDInSCJ/?utm_medium=tumblr

This book has two of Nietzsche's works: •Beyond Good and Evil -It touches on almost all Nietzsche’s central concerns —on truth, on the nature of philosophy, on morality, on what’s wrong with morality, will to power. •The Genealogy of Morals -The book deals with the two absolutely central questions for Nietzsche, namely what’s wrong with our morality and the problem of suffering. It tells an extremely provocative story about each of these and in the third essay it even connects up with Nietzsche’s interest in questions about the nature of truth and why we value truth. In that sense it really is a mature work, bringing together reflections on topics that span the prior decade. Profoundly written but heavy and not an easy read. My brain really had a hard time comprehending this book that it took me some time to get through but that’s probably the density of wisdom. #2021readingchallenge : 37/50 #iizysareads #yslovebooks #bookish #bookhaul #booksofinstagram #bookstagrammer #bookworm #booknerd #bookaddict #bookphotography #booklife #booklovers #bibliophile #sapiophile #booklover #bookish #bookishlife #bookaholic #theessentialnietzsche #beyondgoodandevil #bookreader #thegenealogyofmorals #friedrichnietzsche #philosophy #philosophybooks https://www.instagram.com/p/CRW3jhdHSsY/?utm_medium=tumblr

“The way in which the man accepts his fate and all the suffering it entails, the way which he takes up his cross, gives him ample opportunity —even under the most difficult circumstances —to add deeper meaning to his life.” -Man’s Search For Meaning, Viktor E. Frankl Re-reading this transformative and life-affiming book for the 3rd time. It has been exhausting lately to try catching up with the world and this book carry me through. This book reminds me, that I can all find meaning in life, regardless of struggles, no matter how hopeless a situation may seem. It struck the neurotic chords inside my brain to rejuvenate some of the battered beliefs, values, and set it on the right path. It is inspiring, putting our own woes and suffering into prospective, whilst offering a way to rise above suffering to find purpose and significance of living. It is divided into two sections —first is the author’s experiences in a concentration camp. He revisits his dark moments and reflects on the stages human devolution, exploitation and inhumane living conditions. In the second part —the author talks about logotheraphy; a technique that helps in appreciating the goodness and to find meaning in life. Sometimes, we might be in trouble and feel things are getting out in control or feeling a bit lost, but we will always have the last of human freedom —to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumtances, to choose one’s own way. I highly recommend reading this to whoever is going through tough time, just so you can put your life back in perspective. https://www.instagram.com/p/CRWj2ucntRR/?utm_medium=tumblr

“Always remember that market quotations are there for convenience, either to be taken advantage of or to be ignored.” -Benjamin Graham, The Intelligent Investor A wide acclaimed book on value investing. A long read —it took me 15days to finish it. Insightful, and powerful guide book for anyone already invested in investing, but if you have no basic knowledge about investing, this book will be difficult for you to comprehend unless you do a further study. It is very detailed and covers every imaginable aspect of investing. It provides a great way to make money from the stock market by picking stocks that are undervalued. Values discipline and focusing on long-term investments, instead of gambling on quick turnaround. Also, an eye opener when it comes to the financial markets, and how one can profit by investing yourself, not being a professional. It covers fluctuations of the market, so the investor can understand what is happening and keep emotions or crowd mentality out of the picture. Takeaways: •Investor and Market fluctuation— price and value are two different concepts. Don't consider them to be one. •Investment and Speculation— focus risk before returns. Invest, do not speculate. •Investor and Inflation— calculate your investment results adjusting with inflation. •Stock selection for defensive investor— look for large companies, strong financial condition, earning stability, uninterrupted dividend record, earnings growth, moderate PE ratio, avoid all the stocks from the growth stock category. •Margin of safety—or room for human error—for the investor. Buy assets that price is lower than their true value. •Look for price-value discrepancies—when the market price of a stock is less than its intrinsic value. 36/50 #iizysareads #yslovebooks #bookish #bookhaul #booksofinstagram #bookstagrammer #bookworm #booknerd #bookaddict #bookphotography #booklife #booklovers #bibliophile #sapiophile #booklover #bookish #bookishlife #bookaholic #theintelligentinvestor #benjamingraham #bookreader #financialbooks #financialfreedom #financialliteracy #financialstability #financialsecurity #financialeducation #financialbooks #moneyandwealthmastery #stockmarket https://www.instagram.com/p/CPpSCIjLXLg/?utm_medium=tumblr

financial literacy + financial stability = financial freedom These are some of the financial books I have read through the years. *(others were in my hometown, some were lent to friends) Financial literacy should start early at both home and school but in reality, primary and secondary schools in our country do not provide any substantive financial literacy education that provides the knowledge and skills to manage financial resources effectively for a lifetime of financial well-being, not until college, if at all. A lack of basic financial literacy affects people in developed or advanced economies and will always be taken advantage of by the toxic leaders. Let us learn the basics, then apply some concepts to our lives. It’s not easy to rule financially independent people, right? #iizysareads #yslovebooks #bookish #bookhaul #booksofinstagram #bookstagrammer #bookworm #booknerd #bookaddict #bookphotography #booklife #booklovers #bibliophile #sapiophile #booklover #bookish #bookishlife #bookaholic #richdadsbook #robertkiyosakibook #inspirationalbooks #financialbooks #financialfreedom #financialliteracy #financialstability #financialsecurity #financialeducation #financialbooks #howtomakemoney #moneyandwealthmastery https://www.instagram.com/p/CPKg5p8rpFJ/?utm_medium=tumblr

“Anger can be controlled unless your brain is actually diseased.” -Dr. Paul Hauck, Calm Down A short and easy read for anyone wanting to understand or control temper outbursts. Addresses rationally to anger, blame and neuroses but somehow I found it contradictory in the real world — it doesn't work like that at times. Condemning violence committed in anger but justifies its use when only pretending to be angry? Forgiving a murderer because he is deranged? That just doesn’t make sense, does it? #2021readingchallenge : 33/50 #iizysareads #yslovebooks #bookish #bookhaul #booksofinstagram #bookstagrammer #bookworm #booknerd #bookaddict #bookphotography #booklife #booklovers #bibliophile #sapiophile #booklover #bookish #bookishlife #bookaholic #inspirationalbooks #calmdown #calmdownbook #calmdownbooks #paulhauck #paulhauckbooks #psychologybooks #psychotherapybooks #becomingabetterperson #bookstagram https://www.instagram.com/p/COsSOxKLR18/?igshid=1w7knjj2k0jo8

“In building a path through the self to the far shore of awareness, we have to carefully pick our way through our own wilderness. If we can put our minds into a place of surrender, we will have an easier time feeling the contours of the land. We do not have to break our way through as much as we have to find our way around the major obstacles. We do not have to cure every neurosis, we just have to learn how not to be caught by them.” -Mark Epstein, M.D., Going to Pieces Without Falling Apart #2021readingchallenge : 32/50 #iizysareads #yslovebooks #bookish #bookhaul #booksofinstagram #bookstagrammer #bookworm #booknerd #bookaddict #bookphotography #booklife #booklovers #bibliophile #sapiophile #booklover #bookish #bookishlife #bookaholic #inspirationalbooks #goingtopieceswithoutfallingapart #goingtopieceswithoutfallingapartbook #markepstein #markepsteinbook #meditationbooks #psychotherapybooks #becomingabetterperson https://www.instagram.com/p/COmrX9LrUHl/?igshid=y5ph022lzwwx

Behaviour patterns are like a toolbox. All types are needed. Depending on the occasion, a tool can sometimes be right and sometimes be wrong. A thirty-pound sledgehammer is great for tearing down walls, but it’s hardly the thing if you want to hang a picture in the foyer. -Thomas Erikson, Surrounded By Idiotst This book provides method for assessing behaviors of people we communicate with. This method can help to increase our understanding of how people communicate and to better communicate and collaborate with people. It will also give you a better self awareness. It will help you understand yourself better, hone communiction and social skills, handle conflict with confidence, improve dynamics, get the best out of the people you deal and manage with, and help you understand and influence even those you currently think are beyond all comprehension. Takeaways: •Self-awareness is important. The more you understand about yourself, the less you risk acting in a way that might be stressful. •It is important for a modern leader to have the competence to deal with many different people. •With the basics of the DISC-model you can begin to see other people in a different light. •There are common communication issues between people with different color styles. •If you follow advice on how to interact with people of different colors- red, yellow, green and blue- you won’t suffer so many conflicts. 27/50 #2021readingchallenge #iizysareads #yslovebooks #bookish #bookhaul #booksofinstagram #bookstagrammer #bookworm #booknerd #bookaddict #bookphotography #booklife #booklovers #bibliophile #sapiophile #booklover #bookish #bookishlife #bookaholic #surroundedwithidiots #surroundedwithidiotsbook #thomaserikson #thomaseriksonwriter #thomasericksonbooks https://www.instagram.com/p/CM3Y10JniTV/?igshid=3na5zcb0a27k

Letting go, Healing and Recovery "Repressed and suppressed feelings require counter-energy to keep them submerged. It takes energy to hold down our feelings. As these feelings are relinquished, the energy that had been holding down the negativity is now freed for constructive uses." —Dr. David R. Hawkins, Letting Go: The Pathway of Surrender •The secret behind staying in the present is letting go of the past. Letting go involves being aware of a feeling, letting it come up, staying with it, and letting it run its course without wanting to make it different or do anything about it. *** **** Book review to follow.
