Life is a Lie - Chapter 1

I was playing football in the rain with my friends, Ayub and Simon. We were getting ready to leave because it was very late, as our parents wanted us to be home by 11pm and it was 10:30pm. We grabbed everything and took off. I said bye and went off to get back to my room at my boarding school, Hillerska. The school was a bit far away, so I decided to take a bus.

I now had arrived back to my room in Hillerska. It was now 11:30pm and I was tired, so I got into bed and quickly dozed off into sleep. That night I had a dream. A dream with Simon. Though this was the first time I had a dream with him.

The first time I dreamt a dream with him was about our friendship growing - it was a memory I had. We were at my initiation party, and I was having fun with my new friends. I was getting bored and saw Simon leaving and I called his name. He looked at me and I ran to him.

I asked, “Where are you going?”

He responded, “I’m leaving, this party got boring.”

I replied, “Come on, I was going outside. Let’s get some fresh air.”

We walked outside and sat in an area where people couldn’t see us. We sat down and stayed talking for hours and we got to know each other even more. Simon is just an amazing person. Simon just understands me so much and I wish everyone understands me as much as him.

Randomly, I hear August trying to find me and I cover Simon’s mouth, so he doesn’t alert August where we were. He started saying things like, “I bet he ran off hooking up with a hot girl!” He also started calling my name and Simon started mocking him. I must admit it was cute, but he was going to give out where we were. August left after another 5 minutes of calling me. It was annoying hearing, “Wille! Wille! Wille!” for 5 minutes straight!

I got tired and said bye to Simon and started heading back to my room so I could sleep as I had classes the next day and I would need rest to focus. I fixated myself in my room and got in bed. Though August knocks on my door and enters without me replying that he can enter.

He says, “Where the fuck have you been?!”

I reply, “I was hanging out with someone.”

He responds, “With a girl?”

I say, “Not the time August, I’m really tired and I would like to sleep! Bye!”

August says good night and I get cosy in bed, close my eyes, and quickly fall asleep. Though in my dream I fall asleep and in real life I wake up to my alarm ringing. It was now time for school. When I woke up, I went to have breakfast, then went on to my Maths class. It was boring, I must admit, but at least I could look at Simon.

The class ended in an hour, yet it felt like days on end. It was getting so boring that I started imagining running off with Simon somewhere, where we could be alone together. I started daydreaming in the middle of class.

The teacher says, “Wilhelm! Wilhelm! Wilhelm!”

I suddenly notice what was happening and I respond, “I am so sorry Miss, I got lost in a daydream.”

The teacher replies, “It is fine, Wille. Now can you answer this question for me?”

The lesson continued as normal and ended after what felt like a decade. Now we had free time and I had to go training with August for kayaking. It was fun but it was hard, though if it wasn’t hard with balancing and rowing, I would have found it not interesting at all.

I was tired and said goodbye to everyone and continued to pass my free time in my room. I decided to call my brother Erik because he was my best friend. I loved him so much, that when he dropped me off, I didn’t want him to leave me here. I wanted him to stay here with me.

We stayed talking for hours and we were having so much fun, until August decided to ruin the moment because it was time for dinner. I told my brother goodbye and went to have dinner. We arrived early and we had to stay waiting for the housemaster to eat. Until then, everyone stayed talking about hooking up with a girl and kissing a girl, all that stuff. To be honest, I hated it.

August decides to ask me if I had hooked up or kissed a girl because of the time I left the party. I was about to say something before the housemaster came and we all had to stand to show respect. We said a prayer and we started to eat our food. I was very hungry, so this made my stomach very happy.

I finished eating and went back to my room. I decided to call Erik again as I wanted to continue talking with him. He quickly answered the phone, though this time he noticed something about me.

He goes, “Do you have a crush?”

I answer, “Why did you randomly ask that?”

He smiled out, “You look like you do.”

I stutter, “I m-m-m-mean, I m-might have…”

He laughs, “Tell me more!”

I mutter, “I have to go now, it’s late! Good night!”

I cut the phone and got ready for bed. Though before I slept, I texted Simon for a while. I always smile when I text him. He makes me feel so happy. You have to be insane not to like him. He’s so kind and helpful.

Simon is also very intelligent. Last time during class, we were talking about taxes and scams. He proceeds to say that why is tax called “evasion” but welfare “scam”. I totally agree with him! He also said that it’s all right that rich people cheat, but when poor people do it, it’s messed up, which is so true!

I was very tired, so I put my phone away on the charger and I got in bed. It took me a while to sleep. I tossed and tumbled in bed for around 20 minutes, until I closed my eyes and went drifted off to sleep.
