❛ i can't do thursday, i need to pick bailey up from school. ❜ he flips the menu over, lips pursed. the hole-in-the-wall italian diner is small enough that the din swells into ambience / the tables are comfortably clustered. he hears it all as a roar, the scent of herbs & tomato sauces tickling the back of his throat. ❛ but, uh, friday ? maybe ? ❜ he folds the napkin, fiddles uselessly with the ends of the plastic placemats. ❛ adulting. bleh. anything interesting happen to you recently, @grooveys ? & don't say something like '𝚢𝚘𝚞𝚛 𝚠-𝟸 𝚏𝚘𝚛𝚖 𝚌𝚊𝚖𝚎 𝚒𝚗', though i know that can be exciting. ❜

it's the quiet of the halls that unsettles him. halls creaking with breath, distant voices in other rooms / vibrations humming in the air. it's the hour, perhaps. he's never been one to sleep well, or for long. ( or peacefully. ) even more unsettling is the concept of sharing space with those he remains hidden from. his name, his face, his person. 𝙰 𝚃𝙴𝙰𝙼 - 𝚄𝙿, 𝙰𝚂 𝚃𝙷𝙴𝚈 𝚂𝙰𝚈, lasts as long as there is trust. peter has never been great at maintaining the trust of his peers.

he stays tucked in the corner, in the dark & high spaces, eyes soothed by the dimness, mask carving familiar furrows in the skin of his cheeks. he doesn't startle at her presence, but moves slightly into the slicing moonlight across the wall. ❛ so . . . @hexweaver, what do you guys do around here for fun ? ❜

❛ so, question. what made you go with that color scheme ? ❜ his eyes, unseen, but perhaps not unfelt, peer down at the red boots, the red briefs. the red cape. it's a good look, sure. even if it does look a bit like he's wearing undies over the main suit. but @clarkjosephs pulls it off ! ❛ red & blue. 𝚗𝚘𝚝 𝚋𝚊𝚍. ❜

his fist carves watercolor swirls through the smoke, every inhale through his mask heavy with the acrid taste. it takes some time longer for the heat of a fire to bother him than most, hence the fact that he's in the thicker parts of debris & destruction, throwing a car at a strange, scuttling creature. he's a little offended by his own descriptor, seeing as he's quite a scuttler himself.

movement through the gray haze has his fingers twitching with violent intent but then he sees a stream of black hair, sees gold, blue, red. @am4zon. ❛ wow, you're strong. ❜ what he means to say is ' 𝚒 𝚍𝚘𝚗'𝚝 𝚞𝚜𝚞𝚊𝚕𝚕𝚢 𝚠𝚘𝚛𝚔 𝚠𝚎𝚕𝚕 𝚒𝚗 𝚝𝚎𝚊𝚖𝚜 '. clearly, that's not what comes out of his mouth. as if he's ever said the right thing when it comes to powerful women in his presence. honestly, he's just glad he didn't stutter like a kid asking someone out to prom.

officially deviating from canon. spencer was on thin ice but wells is so ass. the biggest / most recent major event that i will acknowledge is parts of venom war. other than that i'm VERY iffy of the era post-beyond. (and honestly most of the stuff post-absolute carnage for the direct asm tie-ins.)

❛ so, i was thinking, @strangewonderful, ❜ he pauses, the moment stretching on. his tongue swipes over a tooth. the sound of wind against the fire escape can be heard through the window. metal shaking & groaning. he's glad to be tucked up in his apartment rather than swinging around in that weather. ❛ about our date. we haven't really decided what to do, & as much as I love our escapades, they don't really count. ❜ no, that's wrong. he backtracks. ❛ i mean, they do count. it's not to say we haven't had, um, secret moments. with the masks. but i'm saying maybe it's time for . . . peter & andie ? ❜

the next asm storyline being “the eight deaths of spider-man” like they didn’t already murder him 10 times in the past couple years

the chair groans in complaint as he stretches his legs; jacket abandoned on the back of it, tie tossed over his shoulder. it's like being at school again / his eyes inevitably drawn to the blinking clock in the corner of his desk. the sound of clicking keyboards will follow him home. peter scrolls through more recent articles, biting his cheek at the sight of warm beaches & a boardwalk lit with carnival colors. ❛ can't we ever get the fun assignments ? hey, @buglesbetty how many vacation days d'ya got ? ❜

the heating kick-starts in a noisy swell, radiator rattling like a smoker's cough. his hands smart under the heat of a ceramic mug — the faded image of captain america's shield peeking through his fingers — steaming coffee threatening to splash over the rim. peter hears the footsteps coming first, & doesn't flinch as his door flies open. ❛ hurry 'n close that @swnsn, you'll let the heat out. ❜ his toes scrunch, buried under three pairs of socks. ❛ how are you not cold ? ❜

feel like i need to kick-start some interactions… anyone want a starter? main verse, and for those who haven’t checked out my carrd, that means peter is 39 (and a single father)

i know i shouldn’t let it get to me but the fact that so many people think they can beat spider-man makes me so mad. might need to write a meta post w/ citations just to calm down. i understand that there’s a lot of misinformation and poorly written spider-man comics — but the point is that there ARE definite feats he’s accomplished / proven to be capable of and poor writers regressing certain aspects of his powers is actually “breaking canon” and causing confusion.

i’ve been inactive bc i’m redesigning my room (almost died while painting) before the semester starts this week, so all my down time is going into that 💅🏻

there is nothing more gruesome than knowing peter has been murdered a variety of ways (blunt force, throat cut, stabbing, disemboweled, drowned, burned alive, strangled, neck snapped) and it was one after the other and he let it happen
