Day 27 - What’s making me happy? Rewatching Guardians of the Galaxy not only reminds me that it’s my favourite Marvel movie to date but also has one of the best movie sound tracks sporting an absolute David Bowie gem like Moonage Daydream. With such great sound tracks you can’t help but sing along with both Vol1 and Vol2.

Day 26 - What’s making me happy? 3 studio albums and 1 ep of pure gold. Hands Like Houses do post hardcore well and I’m proud to say they’re Australian. If you’ve never heard of them, give Developments a try. If it’s your thing, you’ll enjoy bingeing on their albums!

Day 25 - What’s making me happy? Synth Pop was never really my thing, up until a few years ago I was introduced to acts like Chvrches, La Roux and Lorde. Of course I’ve know the likes of DepecheMode and Duran Duran but I’ve never really been taken back. Until now! We’re into a new age of ‘electronic’ music and I’m enlightened. Especially when listening to ‘Lies’ by Chvrches!

Day 24 - What’s making me happy? If you could choose any artist, band, group etc, past or present to see live, who would it be?! For me, Otis! Throwing back to 50’s & 60’s classics always gets me happy.

Day 23 - What’s making me happy? Don’t let me down by The Chainsmokers. Every time I hear it it just makes me move! Hands down, track of 2016! And the song my friends and I saw in the new year to #2018. A worthy choice in my opinion.

Day 22 - What’s making me happy? Remember to take a minute every now and then to think about what’s making you happy? That’s what this song is all about. Van Morrison, the man behind some of the greatest love songs ever written. However for me, this track is hands down at the top of his list! If you haven’t had Van Morrison in your life yet, now is about time.

Day 21 - What’s making me happy? I pull up with a lemon. N.E.R.D feat Rhianna. Took a few listens to really grab me, but now it’s had more play time in the last couple of weeks than any other track. Bath salts, bitin speakers in the face!

Day 20 - What’s making me happy? When an amazing Australian band covers another amazing Australian band. The Amity Affliction takes on Tomorrow by Silverchair. Perfection! The whole albums is definitely worth a listen if you’re a fan of Silverchair!

Day 19 - What’s making me happy? Another stumble. This song really surprised me. Nope, it’s not Justin Timberlake, it’s Years & Years…. who are they you may ask? No idea! But I’m pretty excited to give their album a crack! This track will hit the charts hard!

Day 18 - What’s making me happy? Wish I Knew You by Southern Alt Rock outfit The Revivalists. If you haven’t already taken the advice of Rolling Stone and given these guys a try (Ten Bands You Need to Know) you damn well should! And if you don’t find yourself loving this track I’d be very surprised.

Day 17 - What’s making me happy? Stumbling upon a song that once finished makes you want another listen, and maybe another. First few listens I’m hearing an amazing mix of The Black Keys, Royal Blood, Highly Suspect and some 70’s hard rock. Hopefully I’ve just caught Cleopatrick at the start of an amazing career. Time to enjoy the ride.

Day 16 - What’s making me happy? Its a rap kind of day, and although hiphop and rap aren’t my go to genre, they still make me happy when I get something with singability. Recently when I’ve been hankering for some rap, I go to MGK to cure the craving. A great introduction track to what he has to offer and a solid album (Bloom) to listen to cover to cover.

Day 15 - What’s making me happy? I’m not sure if there is a song that exists that holds fonder memories for me than Celebration Song. I also don’t think one exists that I’ve listened to as many times. What a pump up song! Any Unwritten Law fan will give their opinion on their favourite UL album. But for me, Here’s to the Morning takes the cake.

Day 14 - What’s making me happy? Australia has some pretty amazing metalcore bands and Northlane and In Hearts Wake are right up there with the big boys. This track on their collab EP Equinox is brutal and sports one of my favourite breakdowns. Support your locals!

Day 13 - What’s making me happy? Can you listen to Dion & The Belmonts and not feel stupidly happy? When I’m feeling somewhat nostalgic their ‘best of’ album really does the trick. And The Wanderer is my hands down fave, followed closely by Runaround Sue. Trust me when I say, even if you’re not a fan of hits from the 50’s you should give Dion & The Belmont a crack.
