A delicious red blend from the foothills of Mt Olympus was my favourite during a recent wine tasting hosted by The Wine Society.
Rapsani Terra Petra by Thymiopoulos Vineyards is a blend of Xinomavro, Stavroto and Krasato - three native Greek grape varieties.
Terra Petra is a wine of Burgundian finesse. Lean yet focused and juicy, with refreshing acidity and fine chiselled tannins. More details in my latest post!

In the last two decades, Etna has reached international acclaim as one of the most dynamic and interesting wine regions in Italy and in the world.
Intrepid winemakers are the real protagonists of the Etna wine scene. In the second part of my Etna series, I pick four vintners whom I know and value: Benanti, I Vigneri, Frank Cornelissen and Tenuta di Fessina. Four pioneers of a land full of wonders. Here are their philosophies and marvellous wines

Not many vineyards on Earth are imbued with folklore like Mount Etna (found in Sicily, southern Italy). Considered the headquarters of Hephaestus (god of blacksmiths and fire), the realm of King Arthur, a prison for Queen Elizabeth I - just to mention a few legends.
Mount Etna is also one of the world’s most fascinating wine regions. Etna wines are among the finest in Italy. Long history, unique terroir and resourceful winemakers are the ingredients of Etna’s success. Do you want to know more? I explore the vinous wonders of Mount Etna in a two-part series

Wine has been seducing civilisations for more than eight millennia. Through the rise and fall of empires, wine maintained a special place in each culture. As such, wine was represented in different guises of art.
Hittite rhytons, Georgian goblets, Egyptian tomb paintings, Greek vases, and Roman mosaics. These were all art forms used to represent humans’ love of wine.
The first part of my Wine in Art series explores the evolution of wine through the lens of Art, focusing on ancient history.

🍷 WINE AND OTHER STORIES BLOG 🍷 A great red from Liguria is the protagonist of my
new #TryJanuary blog article: ‘Poggio Pini’ Rossese di Dolceacqua Superiore by Anfosso.
Kudos to Alessandro Anfosso and Marisa Perrotti, who put together a terrific wine of Burgundian elegance. Full in body, this red is fragrant and full of energy. Balsamic underbrushes echo a splendid integration between red fruity and flowery suggestions. I successfully paired this Rossese with cuttlefish ragu’. Details and full tasting notes in the article

During the last Christmas break I found myself drinking more Italian wine than usual - Perhaps I’m becoming more homesick, or it may have just been a coincidence? Anyway, four wines really impressed me so much that I felt compelled to write about them. These four wines are:
“Gli Orti” Riesling Oltrepò Pavese by Frecciarossa
Vigna delle Volpi Piedirosso Campi Flegrei by Agnanum
“Le Cruste” Nero di Troia Puglia IGT by Alberto Longo
Greco di Bianco Passito by Mariolina Baccellieri
Check out the link for all the juicy vinous details and detailed tasting notes. Happy new year everybody!
