In the age of social media, valid and false information is spreading like wildfire. It is important to remain focused and aware of the constant possibility of fake news, and the resulting political radicalization that may occur as a result. While social media has become an incredibly positive outlet for spreading awareness, it can also be detrimental to reality and truth. According to an article by Pew Research Center, users on X, formally known as Twitter, believe that the social media platform successfully raises awareness for political events, rather than being a persuading power. According to the same article, platform-users allege that they are exposed to more political information through the content of others, than their own posts. Given the large amount of political information being posted, viewpoints on every part of the spectrum are guaranteed to be present: purely factual information, as well as conservative and liberal exaggerations. It is important to read beyond face value and explore topics that are being posted, to find truth and formulate our own opinions.

"Some 41% of Twitter users report that a lot of what they see on Twitter is related to political or social issues. Another 36% say that some of what they see on the site relates to politics, and just 6% say that none of their feed is political in nature."
Statistical proof that our social media platforms, in this case Twitter (now X) are littered with political influence.
