I love comic books. I also like to commentate on them. This blog is what they look like melded together.

Don't read this.
There's just something really aggravating about every musician on the planet getting a comic book deal. As a disclaimer, I LOVE Gerard Way as a writer and the Umbrella Academy was both beautiful and flawless, and Killjoys seems like it'll be really great as well. Also, I've read Max Bemis' Polarity and it lived up to his tounge-in-cheek lyrics. I also hear that Claudio Sanchez is a great writer (but also very confusing).
These three guys are COMIC guys who made it in music first. That's the difference. But when every guy in every band is like "Oh hey, I saw Batman once. Give me a deal." it gets stupid. I mean Pete Wentz doesn't need a comic book. Nor does Ollie Sykes. These are guys just trying to be relevant on another spectrum to make themselves "invincible".
I'm not saying that I've read Fall Out Toy Works or Raised By Raptors. And I'm also not said they're bad! It's just a little frustrating when famous people use their fame to give them more fame. You know?
Also. It's so hard to see these pre-teen girls buying a comic book and loving it just because Gerard Way's name is on the cover. I mean, THAT'S what comes with credibility and that's great! It's just that these girls (probably) aren't going to go pick up great continuity books like Batwoman or Birds of Prey.
I understand 100% that this isn't a very valid argument by ANY standards. But this is a blog, so I'm blogging.
But while I'm at it, I'll rep these books!
Polarity is a fucking great book! Set in modern times and following a bipolar kid who's good at art only when he's off his crazy meds! Also there's some cool shit that happens at the end of issue 1!! Stay tuned!
The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys was GREAT. Even greater knowing that the story came before all of the My Chemical Romance stuff (also great)! The setting and character designs are perfect and the plot of the story (set years after the deaths of the original Killjoys) is a great one. This story follows the young girl the Killjoys protected and also a few other characters like sex androids (not unlike the ones from Cassanova) and some agents of the evil B.L.I....this is a great read for anyone who like Grant Morrison's over-the-top-a-little-above-comprehensive sci-fi stories and anyone who read Cassanova and liked it.

THIRD EYE PICKS, IN STOCK NOW: EX SANGUINE #1 — TIM SEELEY, writer of Third Eye favorite REVIVAL, has brought us another new horror series with last week’s EX SANGUINE! One part “SE7EN”, one part “AMERICAN VAMPIRE”, this kick-ass twist on the vampire genre, shows us two predators: one, a brutal killer with an unquenchable thirst for prey, and the other, a world-weary vampire who finds his interest piqued by this Sanguine killer. This was a creepy, compelling read, and if you’re digging on REVIVAL, we highly recommend snagging a copy and checking it out!
