i'll get it fixed.. i'm determined... it's kinda led me to cleaning my laptop all together my cpu and memory will be squeaky clean before you know it !

thinking about switching engines ??

i've seen some interesting things about godot and even though i love love loveee rpgmakers engine idk i wanna see what else is out there ! the more i flesh out things the more.. limiting rpgmaker feels. I really enjoy it but it feels too visual novel to me, mayhaps I'm just super boring with my usage of the engine haha

I'm doing so research right now and might even attempt to replicate the minimal progressive I've made on rpgmaker to make on godot :] It's almost winter break for me so perchance this'll be a good holiday project to adopt in the meantime !!

dev log ☆ 10/26 !!

it's been so long....... my god... not even sure where to begin ^_^;;

for starters i have fleshed out my story so so good it's more fun to me now and i fought with myself with laika's story and design cuz she fell real flat to me compared to the bigger story i wanna tell one day !

finding an artstyle or a satisfying way to draw has been hard and i'm a lil annoyed with how simplified i've made her ik im still in the trial phase but im so so attached to her she deserves a proper doodle sheet damn it !!!!!!

as for now i took a jab at parallex mapping, didn't go well >_>

she just kept phasing through things and i have no idea what im doinggg but i'll figure it out soon enough ! this weird hour long trial did make things feel kinda cool though, like i want to go back to attempting to learn this engine and how to fix it up best i can !! i like working on this project so so much i can't wait to see it fully explored :>

enough brain jambles aside i'm glad to have reopened rpgmaker after so much time :D

the last (and sleepiest) dev log of the month !! I did and learned so much this may, I'm so happy !!

HOUSTON FINALLY MADE AN ENTRANCE !! WAHOO !! It was so teadiest to figure it out but i managed :>

of course there's a million things i wanna tweak,, the portraits are too big the style isn't what i want blah blah blah but that's for future jac to worry about when we are polishing ! i can't worry over design stuff now,, later ! Laika still needs to make it past act 1 to do so

+ i found some plugins to help with my vision as well :] !! they're behind a paywall but i'll get to it another day cuz im sleepyyyy - i might start drawing these updates instead of logging them ok bye

we've figured out textbox bgs.... we are so goated...

in order to full adopt all my powers of customization i have to figure out mapping with my own custom tiles and after that sprites

then i can polish everything off for this section !! there's stills sooo much more to figure out but man i'm just real excited to give laika a proper room someday soon :]

I've never really had a public online Prescence before this,, i think my avatar should be a zombie with the amount of times i rise from the dead just to post out of the blue but here we are !! I finally figured out what plugins are and once i figure out how they.. work.. I can get rid of the problem I had last post ! wahoo !! I've begun a proper flow chart of act 1 and it made me sit and reflect on what I should expect for the narrative side of things. I already have your simple lore map by my oh my whatever shall I do for those inbetween moments i didn't even think about ?? that's what the flow chart is for !!

as for the cutscene i've been stewing over the past week i decided i'll just make an event that kind of mimic metal gear style phone calls,, simple n silly

it won't be an exact replica but text box, expressive faces, is all i could ever dream. I keep forgetting i don't want this world cyberpunk style futuristic but a more advanced 60s america like that one black mirror episode. mayhaps i'll make a pin board dedicated to the vibe
