The end of Days

This is the second to last draft of Ten Thousand Days For the Sword. 

I've been working on this game for five years. The last public version came out over a year ago; I've been working on it this whole time, but, uh.... not made the kind of progress I wanted to make. It's time to admit that I may have bitten off a little more than I could chew. 

It would be against the spirit of the game to admit this in defeat, I think. Let's instead call it a shifting of goalposts. This is the Backslash preview, which contains everything I've done since the last preview, minus a couple of half-written things that I pruned back. I've completely rewritten quests again (they're now Passages of your Way, for example). I've written a chapter on running the game and various structures you might use, as well as an actual sidebar on orientalism. Plus a couple of things around the house, like some advice on inventing styles. 

In a few months I'll put out 0th edition. This is, barring some crazy change in my circumstances, the last I'll put out of this book. I still hope to publish some supplements, or at least outlines of supplements, but there is currently very little in my life that is certain. 0th edition will include some extra statblocks, some more detail in the appendices, and some fill-in everywhere Backslash has holes. Most importantly, 0th edition will open up under a Creative Commons Attribution license: you can freely pirate, share, remix, sell, as long as you talk about the original somewhere. Whatever I haven't finished, you can. Whatever you think I did wrong, you can fix. This is the end of my work on this book, but not the end. As an empire bleeds out and we turn to the future, to each other, in all things: strive.

[Emergency Water Relief for Gaza City – Help Deliver Life-Saving Water

In Gaza City, clean drinking water is dangerously scarce. Families are struggling to find safe water for drinking, cooking, and basic survival. With infrastructure devastated and water sources contaminated, the need for urgent relief is critical.

We are launching a three-month emergency water distribution project to deliver clean water directly to those most in need. Two water trucks will distribute 10,000 liters per day to communities facing extreme shortages. Our goal is to ensure that families, children, and the elderly have access to safe drinking water during this crisis.
