sometimes women don’t have big events in their lives. sometimes they it’s “just” the ever-present fear of harassment and assault, the fact that most of your friends have been harassed and assaulted, the constant pressure to hate, change, and dress up your body, the fact that both men and women are less likely to take you seriously, the almost daily news about violence against your gender, the casual misogynistic jokes, the expectations that you will have have high-risk sex and carry a child, the knowledge that your gender has been considered less valuable than men for a large part of human history in most parts of the world…

I want all women to know that that going through all of that (and more) is enough to mess you up. trust yourself.

there's this certain gripe people express about food that supposed to be healthy or inexpensive or whatever. they complain "you can't expect people to eat like that! it's unrealistic to present this as a solution because this food is sad and yucky and we deserve better!" and it's like... normal food. tasty normal food, even. i can only imagine that these people have fried their brains with fast food that they consider rice and beans an inhumane punishment.

yk sometimes i feel sad and lonely and ugly but whenever i get online and read other women's experiences i become glad that i am ugly. Not that it matters that much. I remember i was wearing a lab coat, no make up when this man would repeatedly subtly touch my butt. I even thought i was overreacting because "im so ugly, who would want to do that." and ngl i still feel that way lowkey.

You don’t have to be attractive for a man to feel like he can touch you it’s important for every woman to know that because society will try to condition women who don’t fit the beauty standard to accept mistreatment and even silence them because of this idea that only “desirable” women are subject to male violence when in reality all women are.
