Le Lait d’Or
Le lait d’or or the golden milk is a spicy hot drink, which makes it perfect for fall.
This drink actually doesn’t require many ingredients, or at least they are ingredients that are probably in your drawers dreaming about being used.
Good at any time of the day. In the morning its spices will wake you up and in the evening they will warm you up and cosy you up after a long day...
It’s easy to get lost while trying to find a good recipe online since there are so many different ones, but that’s what’s so good about Golden Milk, you can really make it your own way !
Let’s find the best way for you :)
The two main ingredients that you can’t do without are MILK and TUMERIC, the rest aren’t really optional but you can “forget” about one if you don’t like it or runned out of it since you are now addicted to Golden Milk and used it too much!
MILK:
I suggest you to make it with your favorite milk, at least that’s what would make most sense ahah :)
Though I would not recommend to use cow milk (or any milk coming out of someone’s titties), because I am reducing my consumption of animal milk for a question of values.
It is most common to use coconut milk I believe, but since this one is a bit expensive I go with Soy milk, but I’m very eager to try different milk (I think Almond milk would give it a perfect texture, I haven’t had the opportunity to try it yet) :))
Nutritionally ?
Well I guess that really depends on the milk of your choice ;)
TUMERIC
Tumeric, also called the golden spice or spice of life, is an Indian yellow/orange spice, very easy to find and pretty cheap, full of nutritional benefits (no wonders they call it spice of life)!
It has been used for ages for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Tumeric makes the Golden Milk a detox drink :)
(PEPPER)
Pepper is optional for taste BUT if you are drinking Golden Milk for its benefits you shall not forget about pepper ! Because the association of pepper and tumeric magnifies the benefits of curcuma ;)
LET’S GET TO WOOOOORK
You will need:
a saucepan
a mug
20cl of milk of your choice
about a tea spoon of ground tumeric
about 1/4 ts of ground ginger (detox and gooood)
about 1/4 ts of ground cinnamon OR a cinnamon stick (you can sprinkle some on the top for AESTHETIC baby! )
a pinch of ground pepper
a sweetener of your choice (honey, raw sugar, agave syrup...)
1 2 3:
Add EVERYTHING to the saucepan
Put it on medium heat, DO NOT LET IT BOIL, and whisk it frequently during 5 minutes
Serve immediately (bonus: sprinkle some cinnamon on top)
ENJOY ;)
It really is as simple as that !
Now there is another way to make it when you’re being extra lazy or don’t have the time.
For this one you will need:
a kettle
a mason jar (or any jar made of glass with a top so you can skae it!)
all the same ingredients above but half of the milk this time !
First put water to boil in the kettle
Add all the spices in the jar and fill it up a little bit less than half way with the boiling water
Fill up the rest with the milk
Close the jar and shake shake shake
ENJOY
As it is half filled with water I prefer the first version, but I do frequently use the second one too when I need too :)
I hope you enjoy this recipe, if you make it please share your thoughts with me or use #vojaganto :) Hope you find this hot drink as delicious as I do !
See you soon little munchkins !

June 6th, 2018: Lisboa
(On a trip to Lisbon with my three friends: Pénélope Laurie and Catalina, for 8 days)
We started our first day in Lisbon very slowly. After sleeping in we went shopping for the week. So Portugal is probably the cheapest country of Western Europe, and even for a capital city, Lisbon, seems very affordable (especially for us frenchies).
Our day started after a good lunch.
We live close to the metro station Almeda, and were amazed of the architecture we encountered on our way to the historic center, going down on Avenida Almirante Reis.
Lisbon is such a colorful city. And some buildings, falling apart, left us in awe.
After a long walk we finally reached the historical center, starting by Praça Rossio.
The place was breathtaking, probably because of the purple flowered trees that were surrounding the beautiful statue resting in the middle of the place.
We then got naturally by wandering on a tiny place, even more cute, with purple flower, a little bar, people playing music... it looked like a village place.
By wandering we then found a way to the top of the Elevator de Santa Justa, magnificent view.
We then found our way to the Praça do Comércio, touched the water, saw the bridge that looks like San Fransisco’s.
A little bit hungry for Portuguese pastries we went back north for a break in the Confeitaria Nacional.
Had a try to 4 different pastries, and an amazing hot chocolate.
Honestly we didn’t like the pastries that much... a lot of egg yolk. And that is because in ancient times, Sisters used to use egg white to make their hats and they created various pastries to save the egg yolk from the trash. Annnnnd it was a bit expensive too....
Then home for a home cooked meal with a Sagres ;)

What I had for breakfast was a german croissant I guess since it was a bit salty.
We took the subway to the Jewish museum.
By the way in Berlin’s subway there is no system to control tickets except actual people, and during my stay I have not seen a single controller. This means that you enter very easily in the subway station. Also the subway platform is between the rails and not on the outside like I’m used to see.
Now about the Jüdisches Museum of Berlin,
the architecture is magnificient and the museum is huge.
Still the museum but outside there is the Garden of Exile.
Russian olive bushes growing ontop of the concrete stelae are a symbol of hope. All the stelae are filled with Berlin’s soil except the one at the center, filled with soil from Jerusalem. The gardenmakes you dizzy, disoriented, to recall the feelings of the emigrants forced out of Germany.
Daniel Libeskind designed The Garden of Exile but also the Libeskind building, a design named “Between the lines, he is a survivor of the Shoah.
Although I was very hungry which means not much concentrated the museum was very interesting. I even learned how to write my name in hebrew:
לואיז
Then we went back to Alexanderplatz to eat, we went to this very German place (AKA for tourists) and had very german food (AKA Wurst (sausage) for everyone except me of course), I had Kartoffeln (potatoes). And beer, natürlich! Beer is cheaper in Germany :) PROST!
But we eventually managed to piss off the waiter (we never knew how) who threw the tip in my stepfather’s face, tschüss!
Then we met with Marten, a German friend I made in Wakefield, UP MI. Marten gave us a tour around Alexanderplatz, we went to the museum Island, seen Berlin’s cathedral, the cityhall...
After the tour we went in a small bar to have a drink, the oldest had hot cocoa and the youngests had wine and beer, I had a green beer, funny story aber LECKER :)
The beautiful Cathedral of Berlin.. We did not go inside since it was too expensive...
We left Marten :( And had the experience of grocery shopping in Germany afterwards !
Oh and one more thing about Berlin’s subway (because I love it), they are so large! You can get in there with your bike !

Almost didn’t get to the airport on time because of the marathon in Toulouse, but thanks to Yvon we made it on time to take the noisy Ryainair flight. Berlin Schönefeld is the smallest capital’s aiport I’ve ever been to (or maybe it’s only because I was at the arrivals..).
I found it very hard to understand the indications of the underground, but that’s probably because none of us speaks german.
1st impression of Berlin: Es ist KALT but hübsch
Our airbnb is very small but weel situated, in the street “JunstraBe”, very close to the Ubahn station.
Today we only walked a little bit around the neighborhood.
In the evening we went to “The Lemon Leaf” a vietnamese restaurant. I had springrolls and also a banana flower salad, LECKER und BILLIG ! But our waiter was the worst.
