Celeste could feel part of her shrink into herself. Even if the woman wasn't exactly upset at her response, there definitely was some kind of push back.

But that was the biggest issue with naming a Riolu in particular! The bond that one makes with the line and how regarded they are; akin to most Dragon Types. So the pressure had already been present.

Just relax. It's just a name; take a breath and the idea will come to you. And after a few moments, the light bulb lit up in her head.

"Saiph. After one of the brightest stars in the Orion constellation; which translated means to 'sword'."

"Well, in that case. what do YOU want to call it?"

"After all, you're gonna be right by its side till the very end of its own life. Make the name truly count for you and the riolu."

A bright red flushed all over Celeste’s face upon receiving the gift. It was a surprise that even Ree had been around her long enough to know a color palette that suited her well.

If only flower crowns made from real flowers could last forever.

A pause, as Ree glances up at Celeste.

“I don’t know if I’d be doing like. Your champion stuff. The champ test or whatever. I think she wanted to, like. Strengthen the ties between our regions or whatever. Political kinda crap.”

"It's nice there. I really like Socarrat Trail; it's always autumn in that part of Paldea!" Celeste answered, "It would be nice if you visited some time!" She found it strange that Ree was being so quiet about this.

"Oh? Did Ms. Geeta suggest you to do our Champion Assessment? I'm not really sure how she'd pull the strings for you to skip the Gym Challenge though; since there's an interview process before even attempting to challenge our Elite Four and Ms. Geeta."

Ree is picking at a loose thread on their shorts as they talk, keeping their eyes down and not quite making eye contact. Nervous, maybe. Apprehensive? There’s a word for it, but Ree doesn’t know what it is.

“Uh. The top champion or whatever invited me to visit for a while. Do some like. Champion crap? I dunno. I’m always pretty — nervous about leaving Alola. So I haven’t said yes yet.”
