REIMAGINED WINGS OF FIRE DRAGONS

This is a small project about redesigning Wings of Fire dragons with a small bit of speculative biology. Not evolution though; these creatures would barely evolve naturally.

Important mention: all of these redesigns are inspired by real life animals and creatures from Monster Hunter series. I do not own the originals, these are just fanart. Also, this artstyle isn't common for me, I mostly draw cartoony stuff.

SANDWINGS: inspired by scorpions, sand vipers, fennec foxes and sand cats, and also desert lizards.

SKYWINGS: inspired by eagles, hawks and pterosaurus.

LEAFWINGS: inspired by leaf-tailed geckos, anteaters and chameleons.

RAINWINGS: inspired by chameleons, boas and octopi.

NIGHTWINGS: inspired by bats and cave animals.

ICEWINGS: inspired by polar animals in general.

SEAWINGS: inspired by seals and catfish.

MUDWINGS: inspired by water buffalos and pseudosuchia.

BEETLEWINGS: an insect micry.

HIVEWINGS and SILKWINGS: inspires by wasps and moths. Descendants of BeetleWings.

Important mention 3: Lizard/Freedom. Because she is practically nothing out of these.

Day 2 - Tsunami

Behold, a Tsunami! I’m pretty happy with this one, but it has also made me realize that I should really stop adding the wings last :’)

Now for some Tsunami notes!

She has a lot of scars, not just from fights but also the various shenanigans she has gotten into (rolling down a steep hill to see what would happen, fighting a shark, etc.). Every time a dragon asks about one, she makes up a different story about how she got it.

I imagine that there are multiple different kinds of SeaWings. Some are tropical and have a wider variety of colors as well as less bioluminescent markings, others live deeper in the ocean and have darker colors and more bioluminescent markings, and some have a relatively equal mix of all traits. Tsunami, as well as the rest of the royal family, primarily has deep sea traits. Darker coloring, more markings, etc.

Tsunami was really into fairytales, and still is. This love, of course, came from her infatuation with the Missing Princess and the prospect of returning home to open arms and a big feast. While her Missing Princess story didn’t quite happened like how she wanted, fairytales are still near and dear to her heart (Tsunami also absolutely loves reading her favorite stories to little dragonets).

She is embarrassed about absolutely nothing. Every time a dragon makes fun of something she likes or something about her, Tsunami just starts shouting about how great it is or how proud she is about said thing. Screw shame! She’ll just fistfight anyone that keeps pushing.

Makin a new post because I don't want to hijack someone else's.

Iv'e seen quite a few people discuss how Glorybringer would be a nice relationship if it weren't for the age gap but I feel like people are forgetting um

- Glory is fresh out of a cave where her guardians constantly verbally abused and belittled her and straight up tried to kill her + her siblings are conditioned into thinking she's inferior to them so really she doesn't have the greatest reference for a healthy relationship.

- Deathbringer is repeatedly shown to be stalking / pursuing Glory against her wishes.

- Deathbringer kills ppl for a living and at one point tried to kill Glory.

- 60% sure Deathbringer was fully aware of and compliant towards Nightwing attempts of colonising the rainforest kingdom + kidnapping, experimentation, torture and killing of Rainwings (bonus Deathbringer was also raised in a society that conditioned him into thinking he is genetically superior to all other tribes including Rainwings soooo)*.

All in all -10 / 10 Deahtbringer should stay 3 miles away from Glory until he can get his shit together.

*also is anyone else super tired of the 'character who's committed numerous war crimes and is pretty racist, is suddenly good and deserves redemption because they're horny for someone they opress' trope?

Queen Glory of the RainWings

Ye of terrible governmental implications! The replacement Dragonet of Destiny, her Majesty of the Rain Forest, and who knows what else. There’s a lot to be said about Glory, a victim of abuse, a part in the cycle of violence, and the child who knew better than an entire queendom of dragons. Glory is an unfortunate character, both personally and in the story as a whole. 

I have a lot of opinions about Glory. Bless yourself upon them if you deserve so.

Any head cannons with Peril or Sky/Ember (I really hope they meet up, I love sibling dynamics)

mhm me too!!!! I really hope they get along,,, Tui please if they’re not obnoxiously close I don’t know what I’ll do with myself

1. Peril actually has a big eye for clothing/treasure, even though she can’t wear it she loves the way they look and wishes she could (her sense of fashion is very gaudy, billowy oranges and yellows)

2. Both her and Ember have ADHD! Peril talks a-mile-a-minute, and tends to tap her talons and swish her tail when she’s excited or caught up in what she’s talking about (much to the dismay of dragons around her).  Ember is a lot more lost in his own thoughts, and tends to break off mid-conversation to do something or chase a side-thought. Both of them suck with personal space, tone, and time management though, and it makes them a little much to stand next to, but very entertaining

3. I think, even though I want them to be close, their first meeting is definitely… weird. Peril doesn’t know what to do with her squishy, kind of sensitive vegetarian brother, and she wants to be close with him but the whole unable-to-actually-touch him and her problems with empathy make it really hard. And then there’s Ember, who’s just,,, star-struck by her, but at the same time… Here’s his sister, who’s loud and powerful and very… dragon-y, and he feels so small next to her, and unsure quite how to approach her as a brother. There’s definitely some (metaphorical) stepped-on toes, and some awkward silences

and then they love each other and are the most ridiculous sibling combo and have a bunch of stupid in-jokes and have that mcelroy-esque constant shit-eating sense of humor and make everyone’s life a nightmare
