I think we should all just be kinder to each other honestly <3 we can create a softer future in real life too!!!!

I think part of the reason I’m so obsessed with MXTX’s works is the way that each story seems to hold you gently as say “Your kindness mattered. It didn’t alleviate the suffering, it did not undo the pain. But your kindness mattered.”

Kindness could not erase Luo Binghe’s abuse, but it changed the story into a kinder one.

Kindness did not stop Wei Wuxian’s death, but it did save a-Yuan.

Kindness did not undo Xie Lian’s suffering, but it renewed his sincerity to help others.

Kindness did not change the entire world, but it helped create a softer future.

Its such a nice message, that maybe kindness will not protect you, maybe you don’t see the outcome of it, but you should still try to be kind, and I love that honestly.

Modern au Xie Lian could be living in a shoe box pretending to be a studio apartment, and Hua Cheng would love spending every minute in it with him. He'd love how he's always at most 2 feet away from Xie Lian at all times. He loves to do that thing where he can gently grasp Xie Lian's waist when he's 'squeezing' by. Loves how the small space smells like Xie Lian. Loves how he can easily reach out and play on the loose ribbon Xie Lian has winded around his waist and neck. An old habit of his when he was homeless and trying to keep himself warm.

Now, he just loves the comfort of having something wrapped around him. San Lang understands this and only gives it the gentlest of touch and tug that will make Xie Lian turn to see San Lang gazing at him with a look that makes his cheeks burn but his heart will swell to bursting. Xie Lians bed is a tiny rickety thing that's barely a single but that just means San Lang can hold him so close that Xie Lian would be on top of him, snoozing after a day well spent. San Lang will love every part of him in a way Xie Lian has never felt, and it's knowing such a thing that makes Xie Lian rediscover what a simple thing it means to be happy.

about hualian and the language of flowers

In the 18th and 19th centuries, the language of flowers (floriography) appeared, and I am sure that Hua Cheng studied this topic, almost memorized every meaning of each flower, more and more with each new version of floriography Xie Lian would probably have learned about this later than Hua, but they would certainly have exchanged small floral messages from time to time

Also thinking about this, in the language of flowers, Xie Lian would be the personification of the plum flower. In China, the plum blossoms in winter, embodying such human qualities as strength and resilience, overcoming oneself. The plum finds the strength to blossom when all other plants are immersed in a deep winter sleep. Wild plum is also a symbol of hermitism. Blooming in the middle of winter, it condemns itself to loneliness. No other plant is capable of producing flowers in such harsh conditions. The plum blossoms appear before the leaves have yet appeared, blooming on seemingly lifeless branches, embodying the celebration of life and also representing longevity.

And Hua Cheng is the personification of the red lycoris because it signifies sad memories, humility, fiery feelings, longing for the dead and reunion.

Also, I think together they would be a narcissus. In the language of flowers in China, the narcissus symbolizes a couple in love and a happy marriage. The image of a bowl of daffodils means a wish for unfading life, love, happiness and peace.
