This little pop-up cell that formed just west of me on Tuesday evening has been the extent of "storm chasing" in over a month. This elevated view near my home always provides a nice open sky and long sightlines.

Seeing and capturing Noctilucent Clouds for the first time was a bucket list photo for me. I'd say it worked out.

The airport isn't exactly bustling on a Wednesday evening after 8pm. Not a single jet and just a couple single-engine small planes coming and going. Tried to get a lucky alignment with a plane and the nearly full Strawberry moon.

After a long wait there was finally a severe weather setup somewhat close to home. I raced south to the highest risk area only to see storms develop closer on an outflow boundary north of me. I was setup, but a little too close, when this supercell crossed the river.

Shot #4. Believe it or not, I did no color adjustment to the sky in this image. There was nothing I could change to make it better. The only edit I made was lighting the foreground and lifting the shadows. All four images where taken with three-stop HDR over three frames with multi-layer panoramas.

Shot #3. I kept moving within about a 50 yard stretch of road to position the clouds and tree the best as the light changed.

Shot #2. More colors started showing up in the clouds as the sun sunk lower to the horizon.

Wednesday evening I chased after a couple of the pop-up storms on the east side of town After the biggest died out only one more storm remained. I setup north of the storm and watched it slowly weaken throughout sunset. This is the first of four images taken over 45 minutes. It wasn't a big storm, but the color and structure change were impressive during sunset.

Took advantage of clear skies and the new moon on Tuesday night to capture the milky way. The night sky was alive on this outing with air glow present in all my frames. Air glow adds so much additional color to the night sky.

Captured this 11-shot panorama of the full milky way arch starting in the north with aurora and ending in the southeast with the milky way core.
