lakme fashion week (2)
Anita Dongre showcased her new Spring’/Summer’19 collection on the second day of Lakme Fashion Week, in collaboration with Tencel India.  The duo came together to create a sustainable summer collection titled ‘A Summer Reverie,’ inspired by nature’s stunning creations.
The collection had a wide range of options, featuring light, flowy, silhouettes in floral patterns along with hues of yellow, apricot, seafoam, surf blue, onion pink, blush, pista green, marigold yellow, misty blue, champagne, lavender and more. The collection varied from light weight lehngas and salwar suits to maxi dresses, jumpsuits, and crop tops with skirts that were sported by the many models on the runway.  The styling for these items were minimal and sophisticated, demonstrating that the clothes can be worn and manipulated into many different styles.  Models had their hair up in a neat fashion and their makeup was simple with glowing features.

lakme fashion week
Designers from various provinces and all walks of life throughout India are showcasing styles that adhere to the central culture of Indian beauty, whilst also abstractly representing new values in a modern India.
Rohit Bal, who showcased Kashmiri styles with Kashmiri women, demonstrated that beauty shines through in every strong woman.  His collection “Guldastah,” is a special one to him, as it represents his background; “It’s a simple explanation. I come from Kashmir. I am a Kashmiri, I know what’s happening in the state. I grew up in a free Kashmir and unfortunately now it’s a warzone.” He says during his interview to IANS.

let’s talk (1)
okay, so there’s a new movie out starring sonam kapoor, anil kapoor, and rajkummar rao, directed by shelly chopra dhar.
let’s talk: ek ladki ko dekha toh aisa laga
it’s a coming out story of a young indian woman which stars mainstream actors that touch strong, relevant social topics in a sweet and simple way. as the fresh, new movie enters cinemas worldwide, fans continue to support the coming-of-age story. the film achieves much more than the usual and reaches further than to just a bollywood crowd.
fans are saying it is a film that liberates you, that makes you understand love at a deeper level, and gets you to ‘set love free.’ the presentation of these themes, that are deemed unconventional by old social standards, through the use of a mainstream cast surely introduces and triggers some new debates in the community about love and life.
let your heart fall in love with ek ladki ko dekha toh aisa laga, and start off the month right.

What does the blog name stand for?
unfiltered closet to me means a put-together closet that has been stripped down.  clothes represent so much in our lives that we put so much intention towards what we wear and this is my way of doing so.  the whole concept also involves matters that go beyond just what we wear and our closet, i used unfiltered because i also want to talk about real-life issues, talk about what i’m interested in and just write about other things i care about, as well as clothes, without a filter stopping me from saying my true opinions.

Capsule Wardrobes
What’s a capsule wardrobe?
It is a refined collection of essential items of clothing that can be worn multiple times in different ways without getting out of fashion, some of these items include skirts, trousers, and coats, which can then be extended with seasonal pieces.  This means that your closet has more space and is freed up, reducing unnecessary clutter and removes all of the complications when deciding on an outfit for the day.
Tips for curating your capsule wardrobe:
Colours should be dominated with neutrals (white, black, khaki, navy and/or grey) this is because they are easy to style different ways.  Pastels and deep/ jewel tones are also good as accent colours that can be included.
Simple and classic items won’t go out of style easily (unlike some trends) so quality, well-made items should be in your wardrobe in order to save your time and money.
More than half of your wardrobe should be able to be worn in almost every situation, from formal events to a lazy Sunday afternoon.
When thinking of pieces to add to your capsule wardrobe, ask yourself if you can wear an item for over 30 more times.  If you can’t say yes, then that item shouldn’t be bought/ added to your wardrobe.
As seasons change, wardrobe changes may need to happen and that’s okay, all you need to do is buy the essentials and control how much you buy.
Accessories such as scarves, necklaces, beanies will be very useful and they can completely change the way your outfit looks, with the right accessories your clothes can last for a much longer period of time.

2019 Trend Forecast
Tie-dye
Tie-dye has had a change and is now modernised.  Dior has created kaleidoscope versions of tie-dye as well as sometimes layering tie-dye over florals; whereas Prada went for a flouro approach, which reflects a liberated modern woman.  On the other hand, Stella McCartney’s take on the tie-dye came in various different versions in a more 70s hippie perspective with blue and white boiler suits, shirts and lace tap shorts.
Matching sets
Mansur Gavriel and Tory Burch proved that matching clothes is going to be a big hit as it will make matching so much easier - all you have to do is match your bag to your dress and then match it to your shoes.  With monochromatic designs as well as matching patterns, next season’s latest set of goods will be very easy to pair together to create an extremely sophisticated put together look.
Marigold
The spring/ summer collections from Carolina Herrera, Pyer Moss, Oscar de la Renta and Brandon Maxwell has presented a colour that will be unforgettable next year.  The saturated, sunny colour has brightened up runways and can be called 2019’s It-colour.
Neon
Along with the colour marigold, other eye-catching colours have been shown on runways as well.  Neon bright items are all over the runway with outfits from Jeremy Scott, Prabal Gurung and Naeem Khan, in numerous shades, which Elle has compared to being alike to a set of highlighters and Vogue themed as ‘California Dreaming.’
Trench coats
Although this isn’t a new item, it is a trend and it has gotten an update at Burberry, where there were many new variations on the classic coat.  At Givenchy and Valentino, the classic coat also made an appearance on the runway.
Ruffles
Ruffles dominated last summer and will extend onto 2019.  Simone Rocha's take on ruffles felt off-kilter and YSL’s take had a 1980s Prince appeal whereas Marc Jacobs designed his with dramatic flourishes and feathers.
Beige
Although other trends included bright neon colours, beige and contemporary neutrals also made an appearance on runways and will be a trend next year.  Riccardo Tisci gave burberry the classic-trench-coat colour, and the neutral was also present in the collections of Max Mara and even Balmain.  The trend is to dress head-to-toe in neutrals and beige for a sleek look.

How to mix prints
Have a focus
When mixing things up, pick the print you want to be the main piece and start building from there.  This particular print should be the biggest, whilst the others are much smaller (eg. belt, shoes, handbag)
Stick to the colour palette
By staying in the same palette, your outfit will look more put together and more stylish.  If your main piece is warm, pair it with complementary colours.
Neutrals
If you’re wearing a mixed print as your main piece, neutrals (eg. black, white or cream,) are easy additions and will bring your look down to earth.  It will make your outfit seem more sophisticated as well as make sure all of the pieces flow together.  As for accessories, mixing prints already makes a statement so using neutral accessories can really pull the look together.
Attitude
You need to have confidence in yourself when wearing patterns to make sure the outfit is represented the way you imagined.  If there’s no confidence, it’s just going to look like a 4 year old dressed you (we want to avoid that look so with the attitude, you will be making everyone envy how good you look)
