Dylas blinked at the girl’s exclamation. He was relieved, actually, and... excited that she wanted to train at magic together. Maybe she couldn’t use magic now, but he was sure she’d get through that obstacle. Something about training with another person always seemed to bring out the best. And honestly, it was quite weird for him to be so excited about having made plans with anyone, let alone a stranger, but this... this could be good!
Dylas laughed at her sudden embarrassment. “Haha! Don’t feel bad,” he said with a grin. He looked at the girl again, guessing at what she was thinking. “I don’t usually make plans with a stranger, too. But I can fix that. I’m Dylas. I work at Konohana Restaurant and Sweetie Bakery. Nice to meet you.”
Of Ponies & Baths || Dylas & Melody
[★] —- “Oh… really?” Her eyes widen. It was one thing to not be able to use magic, but it had to be just as rough to have it and not be able to use it correctly. Maybe even worse… “Huh. That makes us pretty similar, then!”
At least on the ‘in training’ front. But already had much more on her, since he could actually use magic. Maybe he could give her some… tips, or pointers or something, on how to use hers! Of course, she’d wouldn’t leave the favor unpaid. Even though she couldn’t use it didn’t mean she knew nothing about magic– she was actually pretty knowledgeable on the subject, so maybe she could give him some info he needed.
“We could be in training together, even! People like us have gotta stick together, you kno– ah…!” She cuts herself off suddenly, hands shooting up to cover her mouth. Wait, wait, wait! She hadn’t meant to say that out loud…! It was just a thought that crossed her mind, and before she knew it, she was saying it to this guy’s face!
Gosh, he probably thought she was super weird now… who asks a stranger to help them out with magic? Geez…

Dylas stayed quiet as she replied in confirmation. So.. he wasn’t that alone after all. Something about her... aura? felt otherworldly, and he wasn’t so surprised that she, too, was displaced in some way.
He quickly reeled in his fishing line and walked through the water to make his way towards the woman. The soft splashes still helped him to remain calm. He stopped in front of her as she introduced herself. “It’s nice to meet you Sharron. I’m Dylas,” he said in his most genuine manner. His heart skipped a beat again. Something inside him compelled him to talk to her and learn more about her. “You’re not rude at all... In fact, would you... like to sit with me awhile? I could... tell you my story, if you like. I’d like to know about yours, also.” Though, even if she no longer wanted to talk to him, something about her quiet presence made him feel comforted in this moment.
Midnight Meditation || Dylas & Sharron
If she didn’t know any better she could almost hear his heart stop after she addressed the time issue. She wasn’t sure if he thought she was insane or if she was actually right.
But his confirmation was relatively quick and she relaxed slightly that she found someone to be kin to.
She tilted her head towards where she guessed he was standing in the water and gave him a soft smile, “It absolutely does make sense. Because I know the feeling…” Sharron sighed, lifting her chin slightly and letting the wind sweep her hair off her shoulders, “Though I’m not sure what your story is. I can’t quite tell what it is that happened to you.”
“Personally I lived for many years and it was a bit easy to integrate with modern society. I was stuck with it the whole way.” She paused and realized something, “I’m… being rude aren’t I? I haven’t so much as asked your name. I am Sharron.”

Dylas was so far into his mindful fishing that he didn’t notice the bold woman until she was right there sitting next to him. He flinched and blinked at her as she threw questions at him.
“Wh----” Wh-What the hell? S-Selena? Who the hell is this? And why today? He continued to give her a bewildered look as he quickly tried to figure out what her deal was. She.... kinda looks like... a pirate. And judging by her bold demeanor, maybe he didn’t have to fake nice like usual.
“What’s my deal? The hell is your deal?” He knew she was probably asking about his ears and tail, but generally, people didn’t ask him so... straight-forward. “I’m fishing. That’s the deal,” he huffed and his left ear turned downwards in irritation. So much for a quiet day.
The Pirate || Dylas & Selena
Selena had just rowed up to the docks for the day. She had time off until the evening came, so she had taken her sweet time getting out of bed. Her crew was to head off to Pirate Cove to see if there were any jobs that had come their way, so she was to make her own entertainment that day.
Stretching her arms over her head, she let out an unabashed yawn before looking around the place to see if there was anyone she could pester. The port was devoid of interest, so she hopped off the dock and onto the warm sand. Maybe she’d find a patron of the beach to annoy.
Her feet carried her down the shore until she came across a fisherman. Boring. She was about to pass him by when she noticed that he had a tail. Stopping dead in her tracks, she watched it flick for a moment before allowing her eyes to travel up and find that he had a pair of ears to match. She had found a winner.
Without warning, she plopped down right next to the strange man. “Name’s Selena. You’re gonna be my entertainer on this fine day. The pleasure’s all your’s, I’m sure,” she said with a smirk. “So, what’s your whole deal?” She gestured to all of him as she asked. Inquiring minds had to know…

Dylas’ eyes went wide at the slip of her compliment. And he found himself staring at Odette with a dumb look.
G-Great...?!!!? She thinks... I’m great.. !! He waved his hands frantically at his coworker. “N-No! You don’t sound like a dork at all..!! And I’ve always admired you and your cooking and also I think your hair is cute like th---!!” Dylas face-palmed himself again and groaned. Why did he have to word-vomit whenever he was flustered? WHY?!
“L-Listen. Let’s get outta here before we both embarrass ourselves anymore,” he said with a sheepish grin. “I was kinda thinking of going to the beach... Maybe we can have like a mini-cookout or something? I’m down for whatever!”
Fellow Foodies || Dylas & Odette
Odette only smiled wider when she saw just how hard he was trying to keep up this conversation. She could tell he didn’t do this often, so it made her feel a bit better. Obviously he hadn’t been avoiding interactions with her, he had just been taking his own time with it.
She gave a small, easy laugh and replied, “No need to worry! I understand completely. Teamwork building sounds like a great plan to me.” She gave him a thumbs up and tried to give the most reassuring grin she could. He kind of reminded her of Violet due to the fact that they both seemed to need reassurance occasionally.
Setting the pot back into the sink, Odette took off her apron and hung it up before turning her attention back to her coworker. “I’m ready when you are, Dylas,” she said, trying to keep her excitement to a minimum. Except, her willpower didn’t hold out very long. “I’m actually super happy that you asked me to hang out! I can tell you’re great because of your cooking and- And I sound like a total dork…”
Her cheeks grew hot, and her hand automatically went to scratch the back of her neck. The blush got even worse when she realized her bangs were still clipped back. Taking out her berets, she smiled sheepishly and mumbled, “Sorry about that…”

“O-Oh, great!” He breathed, half-chuckling and half-sighing in relief.
His tail flicked once in excitement before he realized it, and he smiled at his boss. He was sure Ellen was really busy, but honestly, he was grateful that she’d chosen to help him instead. He chastised himself inwardly for his selfishness but pushed the thought from his mind by abruptly turning away from her and heading back towards the kitchen.
“I just really have trouble making sweet desserts,” he said over his shoulder. “I'm sure it’s probably ‘cause I naturally hate sweets, but it’s not just the taste of my products, sometimes they don’t rise correctly or whatever.” Dylas let his thoughts flow freely now. He was in chef-mod and wanted to learn as much as he could. Still talking, he gathered all the equipment and ingredients needed to make a chocolate cake. “I swear I’m following the recipes, but...” He paused and looked at Ellen with a hard look. “My desserts just suck,” he said flatly.
Help is Sweet || Dylas & Ellen
“It’s no problem at all, Dylas!” Ellen stated, clasping her hands together.
Her eyebrows raised high when he mentioned if she had time or not. Truthfully, she hadn’t exactly had a bundle of time on her hands, but she was hoping for an escape from the drudgery of figuring out how her balance was supposed to look for the week and this happened to be the perfect excuse. Ellen took off her little reading glasses, placing them on her desk.
“I can help you out with it now, if you want~!” she said.

Dylas felt his heart skip a beat, and this time he gave the woman his full attention.
Displaced... Though it was no secret that he was of a different time period, she’d pinpointed the exact word that described how he felt since being broken from his spell. He’d met many great people so far, yes, but... he still felt like he was being kept at arm’s length from the present. It was... a painful word and a painful feeling.
He loosened the grip on his fishing rod and smiled softly despite the sudden wave of conflicting emotions. The sound of the water helped calm him now, and he took advantage of it. “Actually... You’re exactly right,” he said with a slight chuckle. “I’m actually from.. a different time period.” His tail swished and splashed the water. “If that makes any sense.” Dylas studied her as he waited for a reaction. This woman... Maybe she’s also...
Midnight Meditation || Dylas & Sharron
Her lips pulled into a smile and she walked closer to him, her bare feet feeling the water gently lapping at her feet, “Well I don’t mind others here. I seem to run into many other here at night.” Sharron gently lifted the skirt of her dress so that the water didn’t get it wet.
“Though this is a bit of a strange question to ask but…” She blinked and her brow furrowed, the closer she got the feeling that he was… new. He was definitely out of his time period, but it wasn’t as if he lived as long as she did, “You’re… not from around here are you? I can’t pin what it is, but you feel slightly displaced. Not in a ‘where’ sense, but more like… a ‘when’.”
Sharron paused, “I’m sorry if I’m not making much sense.“ She sighed, it wasn’t often she met others like her and somehow she’s lost the ability to talk to them like anyone else.

Dylas blinked, suddenly feeling the pressure of having started a conversation with his coworker. His tail flicked to snap him back to reality and keep him from thinking about it too much.
“Well,” he paused. Damn. I don’t actually know. “Well, I was thinking... we could hang out after we finish up here.” Ok, cool. Keep it cool. “Y’know... we really have been working hard lately, and... I think this’ll help us work better together. Not that we don’t work well now, it’s just we should do more teamwork...building and all that shit-- -” Dylas huffed. His black ears snapped back as he facepalmed himself. Dammit, this is not how I pictured this a few minutes ago.
“Whaddya say?” He breathed, defeated.
Fellow Foodies || Dylas & Odette
Odette let out a big, relieved sigh as she glanced out the kitchen door, ensuring that they really were done for the day. It had been insanely busy, but she was lucky to work with someone as diligent and hardworking as she was. Dylas could be quiet, which was a little off-putting at times, yet Odette never felt like he was cold for some reason. She tended to judge people a lot by how much care they put into their work, especially when it came to cooking, so she could tell that he had to be pretty nice.
When she was absolutely sure they were closed, Odette went to clean up the remaining dishes. She began scrubbing a particularly stubborn stain on one of the pots when suddenly she felt something hit the back of her head.
Making a face, she twirled around and saw that Dylas was staring straight at her. And…wait… He was actually starting the conversation!
Grinning, Odette shrugged and replied, “Nothing, actually! It’s my night off from the inn. What’s up?”

Dylas cheeks grew hot as she patted his hand. He knew she wasn’t patronizing him, but he wasn’t used to such sweet gestures.
“O-Oh, y-you’re right... thank you,” he stammered. She... is really nice... And here I was about to give up... “Do... you really have time though? I mean, we can go over basic things and really, I... I just have so much trouble with how my sweet baked goods taste.” His tail flicked at the thought of his aversion to sweets. “Just let me know when you’re free and.. stuff.” Damn... I feel like I’m just rambling...
Help is Sweet || Dylas & Ellen
“Oh, Dylas, sweetie,” Ellen adopted a somewhat maternal tone full of pity with the man, before catching herself. He had told her this in confidence, and most likely was ashamed for this very reason.
She then cleared her throat. “Yes, i can absolutely help you with your baking! The best thing about these environments is that you’re always learning new things from everyone,” she then gave a reassuring smile. “Not everyone develops at the same level, but we all can help each other out. It’s nothing to be ashamed of!” Ellen said, patting the hand of the man.

Dylas smiled at her kindly. “Hey, hey. The last thing you should be doing is apologizing. You kicked my ass, fair and square,” he said with a grin.
“And don’t you worry about me. I’ll be fine,” he said, sucking in a breath as his fingertips brushed the bandages around his chest. “And anyway, you should be getting ready for the next fight, right? I’ll be cheering you on as soon as they let me outta here.” He held her gaze and was quiet for a moment. It pained him more that she was so worked up about hurting him. It seemed they were both conflicted about fighting each other in the tournament.

Dylas shoulders relaxed a little more when she saw her smile. Maybe he hadn’t completely put her off after all.
“It’s nice to meet you, Violet,” he said kindly. He looked at her again a moment when it hit him.... Wait. I’m... in the future. Everything I knew is... gone.. Or at least, changed. Dylas gripped the top of the sheet with one shaky hand before forcing himself to continue keeping up his calm smile. “H-Hey.. When I.. y’know, get better.. do you.. mind showing me around? This is still Arcadia, but I just realized I probably won’t recognize it anymore.” He hoped it wasn’t too much to ask, but he wasn’t sure if he could really handle going off by himself in this new... time.

Dylas’ black ear turned towards a voice carried by the wind before he turned his gaze. Still in his mindful meditation, his eyes did not register the figure walking gracefully towards him.
Her dress fluttered in patterns that reminded him of the soft crests of the waves, and he wondered for a moment why the ocean would bother talking to him. With a few more blinks, he realized the figure was the ethereal woman who visited his booth during the Grand Parade.
“I like to fish at night,” Dylas replied with a blank voice. He still felt like he was detached from the world. “I can ask the same of you. I hope I haven’t crashed your favorite spot or something like that.”
Midnight Meditation || Dylas & Sharron
It was only in the shroud of night that Sharron felt completely together. Even when she was young, the stars were her friends and the soft sounds of the night would keep her company. And that was just something that never changed for her. And Arcadian nights were always the best. The air was clean and the world was calm.
She always indulged herself in walks when the sun has set. And this night was no different.
Her feet carried her from her home near the woods, to the beach on the far end of the island. Over the years she had become strangely attached to the sound of rolling waves and toes between her bare feet. When Sharron reached where the sand met cement, she kicked out of her shoes and felt the cool sand.
But an aura caught her attention.
Someone else was on the beach, and she wasn’t sure who it was. But their aura was very distinct. An old soul, akin to hers. She walked closer, calling out when she was sure that they could hear her, “What brings you out at this time of night?”

Dylas stared blankly as Leon’s mouth spewed obnoxious banter and laughter. It.... It really is the bastard......
So... The spell on him was broken, too... I guess I should have figured, but... I still... didn’t expect to see him... here. Though the two were both guardians of the land, the only connection Dylas had to the Priest was the feeling and knowledge that the runes were constantly flowing. In Dylas’ solitude, he could only guess that the fellow guardian was doing alright. But... how Leon handled the cold loneliness... He did not know.
“...It’s very nice to see you again, BROTHER.”
Dylas stared at outstretched hand, then shot a look up to the mischievous grin that dazzled before him. Or.. I could ask him later.
“You’re right,” Dylas said with as friendly a smile as he could muster. “We do have much to discuss, BROTHER.” As he grabbed Leon’s hand, Dylas’ expression changed immediately, and he felt 1000 year’s worth of revenge bubble in his chest.
“BUT FIRST TAKE THIS, YOU BASTARD!!!” With Dylas’ left hand, he secured the Priest’s forearm and dragged him head first into the water.
BITE. {Dylas & Leon}
YES YES; It was him. In the flesh. Unbelievable, he knows, all too well in fact, but he couldn’t let Dylas drown himself just because he was OH SO stupefied by his very presence! “PLEASE, dear friend.” He raises a tanned hand to stop the foal’s bumbling words as he floats against the ripe tide, “There isn’t time to FLOUNDER about!” Pun intended, “–We have much to discuss Dylas !!!” Another round of nearly INFECTIOUS laughter, which he knows wouldn’t be enough to get Dylas going.
As if time stops, he looks down at the man who glares back from the waters below the dock. Eyes meet, looking into colored hues that he still could not name for the LIFE of him. As much as it bothered the Priest, he never even bothered to ask him before they departed in SLUMBER– It wasn’t important then, and it was completely useless to ask him now… But who but the two of them did they have in such a short time before sudden confinement, to talk about such intimate details? Of course, their dear friend VENTI was always with them, but comfort between the guardians was always sought before… Memories rewind like clockwork, back to simpler times… Colder times.
Time starts again; Leon is looking onto Dyals and vice versa still with the same look of awe that he held just a moment before. His more mischievous coy smirk softened as he knelt down, kind discolored teal hues were upon his DEAR friend as he offers a hand, “– Quit gawking and take my hand.” He teases lightly, “…It’s very nice to see you again, BROTHER.”

Dylas shifted his weight to one leg at her reply, feeling a bit more awkward that he might have brought up something she didn’t necessarily want to talk about.
He looked at the girl as she asked her question. Usually, he would have snapped at anyone who called him a “monster man”, but today did not seem like a day to be crotchety. His magic was bound to go haywire along with his blood pressure. Besides, he was hoping to find another magic user who could help him control his lightning magic. Maybe....
“Yeah. I’m exactly that,” Dylas said with a flat expression. His ears flicked forward and his tail swished to make the point. “As fate would have it, I’m a magical ‘monster man’ that also can’t use his magic. Er-- well, I can, just... it takes a lot more in me to use it.” He huffed. “Basically, I’m in training too.”
Dylas shot her another look, half-expecting and half-hoping she would read his mind and take the hint. Maybe learning to use magic with someone else wouldn’t be so bad.
Of Ponies & Baths || Dylas & Melody
[★] —- Melody is taken aback by the man’s sharp gaze, and she can’t help but wonder if he’s bothered by something. “Oh… okay, then.”
His next question brings a small laugh out of her, and she tugs at her hat, amused that this was something he just now seemed to notice. Usually it was the first thing people called attention to when they met her. “Well… yeah. Uh, kinda?” She giggles again, this time much more sheepishly. “I guess you could call me a witch that can’t use magic. I’m still in training.”
It sounded so lame when she actually put words to it, but it was the truth– as much as she admired witches and wanted to be one, Melody could not use any kind of magic for the life of her, not even after moving to the rune-filled land that was Arcadia. Sharron had told her before that she had the gift, but Melody had no idea what she needed to do to actually bring that gift out.
“And… you?” She starts, her eyes flickering to the horse ears on his head. “You’re uhm… like a monster man, or something…?” Hopefully that hadn’t offended him any, but she didn’t exactly have a name for what he could be.

Literally a Sore Loser || Dylas & Violet
@thenervousnurse
Ughhh--
Dylas gingerly sat up in bed as soon as the attending nurse went off to treat another beaten tournament fighter. Unlike the previous tournament he’d fought in, no arrows stuck out from his body, and there were hardly any lacerations, let alone scratches. This time, it seemed to be mostly internal bruising on his chest... maybe a hairline fracture, according to the nurse.
Dylas let out a defeated sigh. He’d certainly done his best against Violet. Sure, she was the last person he’d want to hurt or fight, but he’d given her a fair fight. After all, in the arena, everyone stood on equal ground.
He replayed the fight in his mind as he stared blankly at the other side of the medical tent. Before he realized it, he looked up to see Violet herself come towards him. He sat up straight, then doubled back down with a strained laugh. “H-Heya, Violet,” he managed to breathe. “Great moves out there today.”
