Okay quick question, I just got my septum pierced and it’s still day one but it looks crooked, like it isn’t settling straight in my nose. I’m visiting family so should I go back and have the piercer look at it immediately or should I wait for it to heal more? If it heals wrong I’ll end up seeing a different piercer though and idk if that matters?
Hi!
Septums can be a bit of a strange piercing when it comes to this sort of thing, and I don't want to generalize too much on a yes or no here.
While "it's just swelling" can often be an excuse used to hide a crooked piercing, initial swelling can sometimes cause septum piercings to appear less than perfectly straight for a few days to a week or so.
That said, if you are concerned about placement, any reputable piercer should have no issue at all with you wanting to stop by and double check - either immediately or after a few days if you choose to give it some time.
They will be best equipped to let you know if they feel as though the piercing may need to be adjusted, or if it just needs a little bit of time to calm down a little.
Best of luck!

Hi Tobias? Are you still piercing in NYC and, if you are, how much would it cost for a conch/helix piercing?
Hey! I actually hadn't really gotten around yet to updating this page (do people still use tumblr?)
I am back piercing full time again!
You can find me every day but Tues / Weds at:
IRIS Piercing Studio
238 Metropolitan Ave
Brooklyn, NY. 11211.
Pricing will, as always, depend on jewelry chosen in the end! Each piercing would be a $35-$40 service fee, with simple jewelry beginning around $65. I'd encourage you to make an appointment and stop by to see your options :)

On my last trip up to @cowpok, I had the pleasure of doing these gradient triple nostril piercings for Rachel. Rachel has been doing such an amazing job healing them so far, and @bananzaaaa was able to add an equally unique set of 3 to the other side recently! Talk about such a fun setup. Nothing beats a fun collaboration on a great client, with another piercer who continuously knocks it out of the park! Buffalo, you don't know how good you've got it.

Every now and then, someone with a perfect ear comes along and falls in love with a piece of jewelry just so perfectly suited for them.  This @bodyvisionlosangeles dagger laid so nicely flat in this upper helix piercing! Thank you. Piercing by Tobias

Double and triple nostril projects are by far some of my favorites - being able to play with the contour of the nose is just as unique as getting to do so with an ear. Thank you! Piercings by Tobias

When I was like 16, @drayuhhh was the person who held my hand when I got my first piercings. We've been talking about making this happen for years and I finally got to add a little to her ear this week. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Thank you! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Piercing by Tobias

Would you recommend getting a PA and a guiche at the same time, or waiting do get them done separately?
Hello!  I have done PA and Guiche piercings in the same sitting before multiple times.  I haven’t seen much issue at all when this is done, so the option is entirely yours.

Are the two mini pleades shown on your May 22, 2016 still available? Long shot, but I thought I’d inquire!
Hi!  Unfortunately those are no longer available. If you’re located in the Northern Virginia area, @brilliancepiercing would be happy to order you another set for yourself!

Hi Tobias! I'm hypersensitive to a lot of earring materials and I was wondering how you feel about Maria Tash jewelry? Do you think they're ok for someone like me or do you suggest other earring materials/brands? Thanks!
Hello! For anyone hypersensitive to jewelry materials, my suggestion above anything else is always - if you’re able to - have your GP or doctor do an actual allergy test to see what you’re sensitive to or allergic to.  Jewelry will come in a handful of different materials, some of which are alloys containing other metals.  Without knowing what you’re sensitive to, it is technically impossible for us to promise you that jewelry would be safe to wear.  (This is why many people are sensitive to steel - because common steel body jewelry alloys contain a significant amount of nickel). In my personal experience, I love jewelry from Maria Tash and wear multiple pieces from their jewelry lines.  My very first piece of high end body jewelry was a Maria Tash Princess Horizontal clicker in my septum piercing many many years ago.Gold jewelry is culturally considered acceptable in body jewelry as we have centuries of anecdotal evidence showing success and pretty good biocompatibility - though it is not a blanket guarantee just as titanium is not.  If you have the ability, an allergy test is truly the best way to find out.

Tobias, how do you tell the difference between an infected piercing and one that's just really irritated?
A doctor.  :)

Hii, do you think there is a age limit at getting a piercing? Im 25, might want to get a earpiercing but I feel like im too old for it.
Absolutely not!  I have pierced people into their 70s and 80s. There’s no age limit at all in the slightest.

Hi there! I am a registered nurse and after watching your go-pro videos I must say your sterile technique is beyond awesome! I live in Dayton, OH. Would you happen to know of any piercers out this way that utilize your technique? I really want to get my helix pierced! Thanks so much! -Tiara
Hello and thank you very much for the kind words!   Unfortunately, I don’t believe that there is anyone very close to Dayton who I can think off offhand to send a client to.  If you don’t mind making a trip out to Columbus, Evolved Body Art will likely be the closest studio I can recommend.  I’d suggest stopping by and seeing Jared if you can :)

Hallo!! This question isnt really piercing related but I was wondering if there was a tattoo studio that you would recommend in the NOVA area. My sister and I wanted to get matching tattoos :)
Hello!I don’t tend to follow tattooing much in that area anymore, but I send most friends to Anya at Marlowe Ink Tattoo in Fairfax.
