Disgust
Words seep from your mouth
Like toxic sludge
And you lick up every drop
With your split tongue
As you spit it out
In everyone’s face
Hoping that they all
Enjoy the taste

Living Wake
The anger that you feel is real
The grief that you feel is real
Everything that pulls your heart
And sinks its teeth into your soul
Is so real
That you can allow yourself
To mourn the living
Especially those
Who are blind to the evil

Saint Lucifer
Fallen from grace have you
Dearest angel
And the world was there
To watch you tumble
With no grace in sight
.
While you brush off the dirt
And manage to extinguish
Every small flame
There always remains
The ice at the core
That even the devil
Could not thaw himself free of

Ghost
Your gentle shadow
In the glow of the full moon
Still haunts these hallways
Especially in the ballroom
Where the dust on the piano
Outlines your fingerprints
And my feet continuously ache
On the cold floor

Sad Child
Somber tears
Of self-abandonment
Are lost in the ocean
As the sinking feelings
Remind me of my youth
And beg for me
To lose myself again

Sword Swallower
The truth pours down
Like an August rainstorm
But it is no match
For the fire in my chest
That is fueled by Greed
As it listens to the wails
Of my heavy soul

Devil’s Doing
Guilt and shame
Rule side by side
And nobody dares
To diminish their pride
.
Close like siblings
And thick as thieves
They sit and laugh
As they watch others grieve

At Rest
I have fixed my eyes
On that sturdy oak yonder
With the yellow leaves
That sing lullabies in the wind
And its brassy bark
So rough but tender enough for a bed
Where I shall close my eyes
For just a moment
As I wait
For the new season to come

Dot x3
There remains an empty air
That sits across from me
And it speaks so softly
That even the roaring waves
Take a moment to listen
To the space between us

Glass Coffin
I have no choice
But to look up
And watch as the earth
Slowly falls
And blinds my view
But all that I have
Is a butter knife
To unbind the locks
And dig me out
Of this rotting hell

Life Support
This is it—
The last moment
Where I am gasping for air
And begging
For one more minute
Before my body turns against itself

World Burn
Tie me to the sturdiest oak
As you light my cigarette
So that once you finish
The final knot
We will not have time
To kiss each other goodbye
Before this wildfire
Consumes the world

Woman of the Night
I still can smell
Your cheap perfume
That could cover the stench
Of my rotting corpse
While your lipstick
Stained the collar of my shirt
.
I clutch tightly onto the earring
That you left
On my bedside table
And feel it pinch my hand
As it leaves tiny marks
That draw the smallest speck of blood
.
If only you had left
Forgetting something else—
Something that I could not
Twirl between my fingers
That left more pain
So that I could forget life
Outside of the darkness of night
That you stole
In just one breath

Scared Child
Momma
I am crying for you
But I can tell
That you too no longer recognize
Your baby’s face
As it drowns itself in tears
And begs
To be reborn

Fairytale Ending
We praise every valiant knight
For slaying the dragon
On his journey
To save his true love
But how is it
That I am selfish
For trying to killing the beast
Inside of me

Wilderness
I believe myself to be lost again
In that very strange place
Where words both constantly run dry
And rattle my tired brain for hours

Pillow Thoughts
Somewhere between
The mattress and the box spring
I can scream forever
And no one will hear me
For in the end
The only ears that cared to listen
Were the thousands of little fibers
Of my tear-stained pillows
