Scorpius grows more confident and charming as he matures, simply because it’s in his nature. But he has no idea of the effect he has on people. He only starts to notice something is different when he’s with Albus, catches him blushing with a strange look in his eyes, and wonders what’s going on. He had just been reading, completely focused, his expression serious—apparently, an absurdly attractive sight.

something interesting i noticed when rewatching HPCC like a thousand times to write the script was how albus is literally never vulnerable or shy when talking about anything… except scorpius. every time he brings up scorpius with harry (in fourth year) he’s all nervous and worried, like he’s seeking his dads approval, but why? it wasn’t like that at the beginning, when albus was confident and loudly declaring his friendship with scorpius even though harry didn’t like it. only as he got older did he start becoming embarrassed and worried about what his dad might think, because he thinks there’s something wrong with him for liking scorpius in that way. thats why the last scene with harry is so powerful and important for them, because harry is giving albus the freedom to not have to hide/feel bad about his feelings.

this is the original script. harry’s response to albus doesn’t change, but albus’s confession does. in the original script, albus is nervously telling harry about something that he knows his dad won’t like, something that causes him shame and embarrassment, something about himself that he doesn’t like.

in the new version, albus talks about his relationship with scorpius instead of how he wanted to murder delphi, but harry’s reply doesn’t change, leaving the motivation behind his reply to albus the same, therefore leaving albus’s words with the same feeling behind them: shame, embarrassment, guilt. why would albus feel guilty for just wanting to be friends with scorpius? we already know they’re friends, and that harry (now) doesn’t care, and that albus doesn’t care what harry thinks of their friendship. but when it comes to something more, like his romantic feelings, albus does feel guilt because he doesn’t know whether or not his feelings are a good thing, something that his dad will accept. he thinks there might actually be something wrong with him.

personally i think not changing harry’s reply here is like… definitive proof that albus has feelings for scorpius. there is literally zero reason for harry to reply like that when albus is talking about his best friend like let’s bffr 😭😭 anyways that’s it

albus struggles to feel the love his family gives him and feels that he’s not worthy of it and will never receive the kinds of love he knows. all because he believes he never lived up to truly being a potter. but scorpius really sees him for who he is. not ‘harry potters son’ or the ‘slytherin squib’. he sees albus as his best friend and his guiding force when things feel dark and helpless. holding on to the one he loves so dearly when he felt cold and weak at the hands of the dementors? that decision was always easy.

scorpius is seen as a curse and unloveable, the supposed child of voldemort, and feels unworthy from that sentiment. like he’ll never feel true love because he lost love from his mother and was seen as something evil from a terrible rumour. but albus sees him as a light in the darkness. his light in the darkness. and albus would sacrifice his own life if it meant scorpius could be safe. because scorpius in pain is his worst fear. he’d rather die than see the one he loves tortured. that decision was always easy.

albus and scorpius always have and always will give each other everything and love each other so easily. because from that very first day, a simple decision to share sweets in a train carriage together was easy. just like breathing.

Albus is one of the only people who can help Scorpius with his anxiety, and Scorpius is one of the only people who can help albus with his depression (they're literally like each other's free meds)

I will never stop thinking about Scorpius Malfoy wanting to prove to the world that he isn't a bad person like everyone thinks his parents were, and I can't stop thinking about Albus Severus Potter wanting to prove to the world that he doesn't have to be a hero like his dad was.

And I can't stop thinking about them both finding one another and connecting over the shared experience of trying to prove to the world that they are their own people, trying to prove to the world that they're more than who their parents are.

Albus and Scorpius needed to meet because they needed each other.

in my head albus and scorpius would wear each other’s clothes all the time.

this is the first time it happened, with a swapping of the weasley christmas jumpers when scorpius and draco were invited for the first (of many, many) time to spend the holidays with the potters and weasleys.

something about seeing your massive crush wearing your clothes just feels unbearably intimate for albus; is it unhinged that he wants to be that jumper? the perfect, most beautiful person is in albus’s childhood bedroom, wearing his jumper, smiling at him - and albus is so in love.

scorpius is so, so happy that albus agrees to the jumper swap - he loves albus and hence he loves everything albus owns and he loves the soft green wool on his skin. he keeps thinking about how the fabric was brushing against albus’s skin moments ago, and he quickly resolved to nervous stimming to hide his blushing face.

My favourite version of Albus and Scorpius is the one where Scorpius is the nerd who always has his nose in the book and is the smartest in class, always has his hand in the air just like Hermione used to, and Albus who never touches his school work, does his homework ten minutes before class and still somehow gets every question right in class when called on, and it irritates both Scorpius and Rose.

I don't know why but I think that Scorbus is a kind of ship that would just start dating without knowing how or when it happened. Like their usual hugs and stuff will just take a step further and become kisses on arms and top of the head until they just become kisses on lips and neither of them will know how it happened as they were always comfortable around each other, so just starting with all that at one point felt like nothing to them that they didn't even notice.

But somehow everyone is still surprised when they come out.

it's canon in my head that every time Scorpius touches Albus, reaches for his hand or guides him elsewhere (pre relationship), Albus' brain just completely short circuits and Scorpius has no idea because he doesn't interpret social cues very well and to him its just another day of prompting Albus to find his words but he doesn't know that HE'S the reason Albus can't find his words
