I wonder when I came to fear the water.

Was it when Jandal was lost at sea? Is it thoughts of his dying moments blind and thrashing lungs burning chest aching empty filled sinking heavy choking that prompt this low and aching dread?

Or was it the visions of the – [the next sentences have been wiped away; nothing remains but smears of salt-stained watery ink dried into the paper, and the final few barely-legible words] – towers of sacrifice and black streets lined with obsidian obelisks?

In my dreams I drown.
