Seeing as Johnny's married to the Scions' very own master seamstress I'm curious what his answers for 27 and 46 would be for the OC armour and clothing questions

Bonus question if you feel up to answering it: does being married to Tataru change his outlook on fashion in any way?

Thanks for the ask! Johnny being married to Tataru means I've definitely thought a lot about how clothing specifically factors into their relationship.

For social situations, Johnny does own a couple formal outfits. His favorite is the white Scion Adventurer suit, for several reasons. Firstly, it was the first piece of clothing Tataru made for him, and was an unexpected yet greatly appreciated gift. Secondly, with the way it matched the outfits of the other Scions, putting it on marked the moment he truly felt like a full member of the group. Thirdly, Tataru designed it to be easy to move around and fight in, despite its formal appearance. A true best of both worlds.

As for what he'd wear if he wanted to make a splash... Johnny doesn't usually want to make a splash. However, if Tataru wanted to make a splash, she'd probably put him in this blue suit she made for a trip to Ishgard.

For #46, since I already hit the obvious answer in my reply to Mimble, I'll cover the opposite instead! Something Tataru doesn't spend any time scheming to get Johnny to wear is sexier outfits. While she might have the occasional fun daydream about her husband wearing something more revealing, at the end of the day she just doesn't want to share LOL.

And for the bonus question: Absolutely! From someone whose usual outfit used to be a pair of bright red pants paired with a sweater as brown as the dirt of the Twelveswood, he's come leaps and bounds. All of his best-looking ensembles can still be credited to his wife, but he's picked up enough following along that he's not hopeless without her.

22. how good are your wol's table manners, based on their own culture? how does it compare to ishgardian table manners? eorzean? doman? steppe?

so paris has decent table manners, but only after receiving strict discipline once they came under their grandfather's shadow—things like no elbows on the table, no talking with your mouth full, knowing what utensils to use with certain dishes, no slouching, etc.

coming from their rural upbringing, paris had to endure a boot camp-esque charm school curriculum in order to be seen in ul'dahn high society, but once they started adventuring paris grew more relaxed and less sophisticated when it wasn't guaranteed where their next meal would come from

25. what is your wol's relationship with their family? are they estranged? still very close? tense?

it's no secret that paris is estranged from almost their entire family save their cousins and aunt cassandra. paris has a tumultuous relationship with their mother and a shaky one with their father, and paris absolutely despised their half-sister upon meeting her. but as of now, they're all working towards repairing the damage to come together as a family again

so that much is known, but paris' relationship with their extended family can't be saved. even with their status as the warrior of light, paris could see their grandfather and other relatives banking on it for free publicity after what they put paris through as a teenager

paris has always been an outsider with them; they didn't color inside the lines, they were combative and rebellious. being expelled from a prestigious thaumaturge academy, one that their family has attended many times to become successful mages, marked them as the black sheep. but after the bloody banquet, the tatlongharis publicly disowned paris to save face, only to become nearly destitute and their banking business in ruins once the upper echelon caught wind of who was being accused and pulled their gil out in mass panic. even with their reputation having long been restored, the family at large still hasn't accepted paris back, not that paris wants them to

17. out of all the scions, which one is the one your wol gets along with the best? what about the one they get along with the least? why?

best: y’shtola! not only because she was the first scion that d’alia met and felt close to before getting to know the others as well, but their personalities align as very curious and solutions-oriented people. alia is always comfortable confiding in her because shtola will ‘okay, here’s what we can do’ about it, but doesn’t let her linger in her feelings or coddle her, and always trusts shtola to tell her the truth (see: next question below). they also both click academically and enjoy a quiet tea and tarts break from scions business, too.

least: for a long time, it was thancred - the two of them are very similar in how they bury their own issues for the sake of being the pillar for others, and it’s both hard to see that reflection in themselves and break through the barrier to help each other, too. (now that they understand how the other works, they get along much better). she also had a falling out with lyse during stormblood, both between the yda reveal and a clash of lyse’s idealism vs alia’s jaded anger, and differing approaches to both being respective diaspora of their people, that built a rift between them. they’re still cordial as colleagues, but they’ll never really be close friends.

26. what does your wol think about lying? is it unacceptable to ever lie, are white lies okay, are they a pathological liar? how do they feel about people who lie to them?

she really, really doesn’t like to lie, but she’s not above lies via omission in certain very rare cases like protecting the physical safety of people she cares for, though she’d rather be honest if she can even if it’s a bit harsh. she doesn’t often mince words or believe in sparing feelings over being truthful. which, of course, she hates being lied to since she also prefers to be told a brutal truth over a lie or have anything withheld from her.

Through the woods we ran (Deep into the Mountain Sound) ------ Lehon'a & X'vahl combine their musical talents to create a soundtrack to Ris' beautiful campfire dancing, with the Dravanian night sky as a backdrop! (Seems like a pretty precarious place to camp, but I'm not judging)

I'm so so so happy with how these turned out, especially because getting those instruments to actually exist and then be where they were supposed to took waaaaaaaay too long. They didn't want to play nice with mods, so I was forced to resort to spawning in two more clones of Lehon'a, giving them the instruments, and then burying them underneath the rock so they wouldn't end up in the shot! And then after I got that working, I kept noticing little things that were off (scarf clipping, hair clipping, fingers not cooperating, etc) so I'd have to fix and reshoot. But after much gnashing of teeth, I think I ultimately nailed it :D

And extra thanks again to @zylphiacrowley for sharing the female version of the top X'vahl is usually wearing (so they could be matching) and also the lovely tail mod too! No more perpendicular flat texture tail for Lehon'a!

Iskra eir Baelsar: lore dump

Alright, since people are getting interested in her, lets start with some back story. (apologies as this gets a bit long)

@primamchorus @zylphiacrowley @dragonsongmakhali @kanehon since you all expressed interest.

Iskra was a simple farm girl from a remote area between Dalmasca and the Skatay range. Living a fairly pleasant life learning to live off the land and was a natural hunter, learning some things from the Viera who would travel down from the mountains.

When the Garlean Empire started their second attempt to get to Nagxia and pushing into Dalmasca, a small unit of Garleans that had gotten lost came across the farm Iskra's family lived on. They had no idea who these soldiers were as news of the conflict starting with Dalmasca hadn't reached very far yet, so they provided food and shelter for these lost people until their main host could recover them.

Dalmascan scouts witness the farmers giving shelter to their enemy and marked them as collaborators. While Iskra was out on a hunt, the scouting party attacked and razed the farmstead. Seeing the smoke from the burning fields, Iskra rushed home just in time to see her parents cut down trying to defend their home. Something insider her broke. Rather than be consumed by her emotions they were instead shut off. With cold efficiency, she hunted and slaughtered every Dalmsacan that attacked her home. Only then did she allow herself to grieve.

Drawn by the fires, a Garlean patrol craft lands and investigates finding the young woman sitting on what remained of the stoop of her house with a pile of Dalmascan corpses piled up nearby. While telling them of the events that transpired she learns of the building war with Dalmasca. Iskra asks to join them to enact vengeance on the nation that killed her family.

While serving as a conscript, Iskra quickly found her calling when placed on an intelligence mission. The results of which caught the eye of a visiting legatus, Gaius van Baelsar, who has Iskra transferred to the XIV legion. With even more successful missions under he belt, Gaius devises a strategy not only get Iskra a shot at the Frumentarium Academy but a push to the head of the line. Gaius formally adopts Iskra as his daughter. With fully citizenship and the personal recommendation of a renown legatus, Iskra is accepted and heads to the academy in Garlemald.

Academy life is difficult as she finds her self often held to different standards than her pure-blood Garlean counterparts as well as political meddling from those that think she doesn't belong. Despite this she still managed to graduate at the head of her class, however she gets assigned as a data analyst operating from the consulate in Kugane. Politics.

While in Kugane, the consulate found itself with a leek. Iskra managed to track the leak to a food stall vendor in the nearby markets. This vendor was actually a Doman Shinobi attempting to get the Garleans removed from Hingashi. She befriended the man, never letting slip she was on to him and once he let his guard down she slit his throat. The brass, being thoroughly impressed, finally make her a field operative (which I've talked a little about before in [this] post). Finding herself back in Dalmasca as part of a new counter insurgency unit weeding out the more dug in resistance fighters. It's here that she first meets a Turali man named Thiago who is attached to another unit. They only cross paths a couple times but she finds him obnoxious.

Before her tour is complete, she gets pulled from the field by Gaius and is placed on a new long term deep cover assignment to infiltrate Ala Mhigo and prepare it for invasion...

Okay, DAMN, you don't need to read my character for filth. I will say I think the only thing El would fundamentally disagree on is the initial 'you never wanted to hurt anyone', only because she's conditioned herself to believe violence is an amicable answer, but I also think that in itself is a cover and the result of trauma after trauma that Ishgard inflicts.

When you're told that you're an outsider no matter what — no matter the money, the power, the prestige, the honour! — it's little wonder one might spit in their faces. When you see the hypocrisy and you're told it's not your place to question it... no wonder you turn a little evil.

I think she's allowed. I think she should kill men for fun. I give her permission.
