✧·˚ you and alex host a new year’s eve party but get caught in your own little world, distracted by each other

“you have a piece of confetti in your hair alex.”

“do i? can you get it for me?” he leans his head down for you to pluck the shiny golden confetti out of his hair whip holding your glass of champagne closer to your chest.

“there.”

“happy new year’s my love.” he smiles and leans in to give you a proper new years kiss. “and to many more with my soulmate.” you giggle as he kisses you again.

it’s a sweet moment where it feels like it’s just you two and there’s no one else at the very large new year’s eve party. the only thing that seem to have your attention is him and how happy he makes you feel, these past few years have been nothing but bliss with him and you can’t wait for more with him.

you’re each other’s everything and you can’t imagine a future without him in it.

later in the night as your friends leave your place one of them hands you a polaroid picture of the two of you, it’s obvious that the two of you are in your own little world in the photo with all the chaos going on around the both of you but you only seem to be focused on each other. it’s an amazing picture that you have kept close to you ever since it was given to you.

“what did they give you?”

“the best photo i’ve ever seen of the two of us.” you say as you show it to him.

“wow you’re not kidding!”

alex looks in awe at the photo as he examines it with his professional photographer eyes. he seems as enamored with it as you are.

“i call dibs!”

“what no fair!” he smiles as you quickly take the photo back.

“you already have a wallet photo, this one is mine.”

“fair enough.” he says, pulling you into his arms and placing a quick peck on your lips. “you deserve the best photos of us anyway.”

he holds you from behind as you both admire the adorable photo.

“we should finish cleaning up this place.” you say, not looking away from the polaroid in your hand. you feel alex rest his head on your shoulder.

“yeah you’re right.” kiss “we should definitely” kiss “get” kiss “around to that.”you can’t help but laugh at his advances; distractions.

you know that if you don’t clean up now it will never get done so you must persist with the suggestion to start cleaning up.

“alex~ stop i have to get a broom.”

“alright alright, we can clean.”

alex starts with getting a large bag to collect bottles and trash that laid askew across the tables and shelves of the place.

the gold and sliver confetti litters the floors of your apartment as well as plenty of empty cups, glasses and bottles.

in a less then a few hours your home is finally clean and you both retire the the couch with a big huff of relief. you curl into alex’s side and relax as you see the first rays of sunlight peak through the window. the first day of the new year will spent in the arms of your boyfriend.

this will definitely be a good year as long as alex is with you.

i miss him even though he treated us like shit in the end.

this is a terribly difficult choice… i think i’d have to say either xanny or isaac? my first instinct was actually elias because he likes stars and like same (otherwise i wouldn’t put myself through the hell that is 3 accelerated math classes in one semester rip), but i’m still convinced we’re not being 100% transparent with him and i’m scared haha. then i thought of andrew cause who doesn’t love an intellect nomnom.

i think what i value a lot about lawrence and isaac is their loyalty and honesty. they don’t take advantage of listener? take isaac for example, at the beginning, listener is completely at his mercy. he could’ve done anything. he could’ve not payed them, he could’ve taken advantage of them in whatever way he wanted, heck- he could’ve left them to die and saved himself the hassle. even throughout his story, when he struggles with his feelings for them, he never puts them in harms way. the same can be said for our little leech; he’s not fond of “fates” and the idea of a seemingly irrational bond, and yet he’s still there for listener unconditionally. they’re both protective (see: meeting with vic. killing of yandere boy. etc) and just overall green flags? for the most part-. my final point would probably be that they’re both willing to communicate (unlike a certain someone…). eventhough they both have tremendous amounts of baggage, they want to make it work, they care enough to not only put in the effort, but actually follow through on their promises (see: isaac warming up to letting pickle out of the house).

...what do you mean there's controversial listener discourse?

I'm probably going to answer this question way more seriously than it was supposed to be answered, so here we go:

usually in the asmr roleplays the listener character is in the right - especially when there's some kind of relationship conflict going on - because no one likes to be wrong (and most people like to be tearfully apologized to) - and in rare cases when they are, it is usually resolved peacefully without much consequences.

So when that's not the case a decent portion of listeners is often upset.

In another ASMR fandom I used to be in (which I'm not naming even though it's a secret from literally no one) there was two big instances of that happening:

I. In the first one it was an actually complicated situation in which both the listener and the speaker characters did some things that landed them in quite a predicament - the consequences were drastic and lasting. The listener character was blamed a lot in the text though and people were so vocally upset about it (mostly not here, but on other platforms that I'm not on) that the creator removed the whole storyline (about four videos at the time) from the channel.

II. The other case was very similar to the one we have on our hands now with Alex - the listener character repeatedly breached their partner's privacy and broke a previously set agreement, so their partner broke up with them. That time hell broke loose here on Tumblr because people were just arguing over and over if the listener's actions could be excused because they acted on insecurity/childhood trauma/whatever else and if that meant the character breaking up with them was the one in the wrong because of that.

So, I might be wrong about this Alex situation, but I accidentally (again, I'm not actively in the fandom) saw a few posts that reminded me very much of the Case II and considering the fact that ZSaku in the description of the video mentioned existing 'discourse' I presume it exists.
