Kind of a random one but I love seeing your peafowl so much. Back when I was in high school I volunteered at my local zoo. They had free roaming Indian peafowl and one specific bird, a peacock banded 79 Red (I believe) named Cheddar, was my favorite. He was an absolute mad lad. He’d go into the predator enclosures but never got attacked. A little while after I “graduated” out of the teen volunteer program the zoo ended up sending the peafowl away because people kept harassing the birds. So seeing your amazing flock reminds me of “the good old days” so to speak. Not to mention all the beautiful colorations your birds have!

Anyways TLDR I’m an animal nerd who misses working with the constant cry of peafowl and I get great joy from seeing your posts about your lovely birds

I like seeing the peafowl at zoos, but having them free range is not a great idea generally speaking. They make a mess, predators COULD get them (their size and willingness to fight generally deters it), people harass them, they harass people... I'm glad the peafowl got sent away to be contained, even if it means a less colorful time around the zoo!

went to a zoo today and there was this owl with weird wings and I asked an employee and apparently she eats fine and there’s nothing wrong they could find. So she’s just like that

I'm not interested in keeping an anaconda but I did get curious about anaconda husbandry and from my research I've concluded that a lot of articles on proper care for captive snakes will toe around the fact that if you want a semi-aquatic 15+ foot snake, you need to be prepared to invest thousands of dollars into it. I read one article that was basically like "[green anacondas] prefer enclosures with submersible baths, but filtering and sanitizing the water in these tanks can be so challenging and expensive, it's safer to make an enclosure without it" how about if you can't afford to filter a water tank for an aquatic animal larger than yourself, you should not be keeping that animal????
