look I know I’m late to this party but if there’s one thing TYBW fucked up on it’s not giving Yumichika - who I would argue is the biggest fuckin psychopath in all the Gotei 13, let alone Squad 11, bc he’s battle-hungry enough to go into Squad 11 and made third seat while still totally nerfing himself - a moment to absolutely wreck shop with Ruiiro Kujaku

like, think about it. everyone was getting so fucking hurt and not only is Ruiiro Kujaku capable of incredible damage, but it also has an explicit healing ability. Like I know he’s afraid of the reaction he might get but like, desperate times call for desperate measures!! Plus can you imagine how thrilled Ikkaku and Kenpachi would be to see the destruction Yumichika can do when he actually fights at full power?? it’s also just such an unsatisfying unresolved story point that Yumichika’s been keeping this secret but we’ve gotten this deep into the story and he still hasn’t come out, so to speak

R/n: How did you know where I was?

Soap: When I first notice ye were acting strange and sneaking out at really late at night, sooo I may have…snuck a little tracking gem into that brownie I gave ya earlier...

R/n, eye twitches: you been tailing me...?

Soap: Bonnie? ya there lass?

R/n: No, no, now that is a breach of trust, Johnny.

Soap: Do ye really want to open this can of trust-breachy worms right after I just caught yer arse trying to hide a zombie yer car’s trunk?

[pause]

R/n: I do not.

Soap: You do not....(Notices Ghost watching them.) By the way, whose the big bloke there in the skull mask behind ye? yer boyfriend?

[R/n looks at him stunned.]

Soap: What?

R/n: You can see him? He can see you?! 

Ghost: Apparently so.

R/n: I thought you said normal people couldn’t see you!

Ghost: No, I said normally people can’t see me...That is, unless they’ve had some very close calls with me...

Soap: Uh...Could one of yas tell me what the hell yer talkin’ about cos I’m very lost?

[Cut to a very awkward car ride to the graveyard, there’s a zombie in the trunk, a heavy rainstorm outside...Oh, Soap just found out R/n an illegal witch whose contracted with the god of death; all in all it’s been a fantastic night!]

Ghost, driving: Hm, I don’t appreciate how loud this silence is..

R/n, In the passenger seat: I don’t appreciate being stalked!

Soap, in the backseat: Well if you’re gonna be like that, Then I don’t appreciate being lied to!

Zombie, from the trunk: I would appreciate being let out of the trunk!

Ghost, Soap & R/n: Shut-up!

Week one of monster october

I am doing a monster a day for all of October as my art challenge this month

𝐰𝐢𝐩 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 : 𝐚𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐚 & 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐝

i realized i've talked about this wip on here before, but i haven't actually made any sort of intro to it before now? so that's what this is! the plot is extremely bare bones right now so there's not a lot of detail to get into there but i still wanted to share because i've been thinking a lot about this story recently, so here it is!

𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 ⋆｡°✩

genres: weird western, supernatural, romance

target length: novel

setting: fantasy frontier called tallakeen, a place widely known as the land "where the dead don't stay that way"

rating + content warnings: like most of my other works, "adriana & the undead" is intended for mature/adult audiences. content warnings include graphic violence, gore, cannibalism, zombie-related horror, death, parricide, references to mariticide, sexual content, language, hallucinations, and likely others that i'm either not remembering or will think of in the future.

summary: after achieving immortality in order to escape the results of the famous bite of the tallakeeno undead, ranch hand adriana montero is left a dead woman walking, and what seems at first to be her savior quickly becomes her condemnation. now stuck in the centuries-long cycle of eternal life, the only interest in her stagnant existence is her rivalry with death himself—or, the marshal, as she calls him. that is, until a charming, yet somehow repulsive stranger approaches her at the saloon with a perplexing proposition, one that sets her on a quest for the key to mortality with death at her side.

⋆ main character ⋆ she/her ⋆ former ranch hand, now a loan ranger who roams tallakeen ⋆ very reckless, does dangerous things for the sake of it because there will never be any real consequences for her ⋆ sees and experiences things that aren't real from time to time as a result of the wound that should have killed her, can come off as detached from reality at times

the marshal — death

⋆ love interest to adriana ⋆ he/him ⋆ supernatural entity with the task of taking dead souls to the afterlife ⋆ cannot actually enter the afterlife, meaning he is perpetually stuck between the world of the living and the world of the dead ⋆ kind and gentle by nature, but he and adriana antagonize each other so intensely that he can seem downright cruel and malicious at times

vince cooley — the villain

⋆ main antagonist ⋆ he/him ⋆ the only other immortal adriana has ever encountered ⋆ quoted in my notes as being a "hot, sexy scumbag" ⋆ has a very attractive and charming persona, but is really just a cruel, entirely self-serving person beneath his sugarcoated and suave facade

lucy cannon — the outlaw

⋆ secondary antagonist ⋆ she/her ⋆ outlaw and bandit with a proficiency with firearms ⋆ allies and has a troublesome and perplexing temporary relationship with vince—she reminds him of someone from his past, and they are both using each other as means to an end, just with a little more than they bargained for on the side

Mass effect fan theory:

Zombies/reanimated dead was information of the reapers given to Earth by the Protheans.

Javik says that the Protheans tried to prepare the upcoming cycle Species to fight the reapers. If you take him on Thessia you learn that the Protheans taught the Asari mathmatics and agriculture.

We also see that the other alien species are much more disturbed by the reaper creatures than the humans. I think this is because humans have legends and stories about the living dead, while the aliens don't.

The reaper creatures are very zombie like. The looks, how they sound, the fact they're basically reanimated dead. So I think the legends of the living dead is the warped warnings of the reapers given to Earth by the Protheans.

These are my most played with monsters for RPGs, but never got painted. They're Reaper Bones, the white material, and cleaning them up sucked! I ended up slicing as much of the mold lines as I could, then I covered the rest with some thick layers of primer. I took this opportunity to try some speed painting techniques. I used contrast paints (xpress) and oils, but also traditional acrilycs as a final step. Despite my frustrations with the material, I'm very happy with the result (for the time it took) so I think I might try to replicate this process on some other appropriate models (plague bearers??)
