Okay still staying on anon but for clarity this is a certain edgeworth lover cough cough.

I genuinely don’t recall much about them?? They didn’t even get a proper name (though in retrospect I’ll give them the name murky just so they have one.) but they appear after the informant guy dies as Garcian takes them in after his death. It’s a very dysfunctional situation obviously and there’s the subtle implication murky was related to kaede and being placed with the one dude was a cover up type deal??

The only other thing I recall is they end up losing their hand and becoming a merc, I ended up kinda abandoning them for a nmh ocs who also ended up getting abandoned after my grasshopper manufacturer, hyperfixation died. Maybe I’ll bring them back someday but I’d probably be more likely to make a lollipop chainsaw oc nowadays since that’s the only grasshopper game I’m big into nowadays lol

In honor of Lollipop Chainsaw RePop releasing a month from now, I have decided to draw my oc Elena Rivera as Juliet Starling.

In the drawing, instead of having the pink lollipop and chainsaw that Juliet has, I gave Elena a Puerto Rican lollipop and a (fake) machete since she is Puerto Rican herself. Elena (as a superhero) has a magical machete as a weapon and her alias is even "La Machetera", so I think a machete made more sense for her than a chainsaw.

Elena cosplaying as a video game character is canon/lore accurate, by the way! This drawing takes place in the Halloween of 2019, where Elena is 19 years old (about 2 years before she becomes a superhero in the summer of 2022). For Halloween that year, she dressed up as Juliet since she liked the character when the game first released in 2012 (She played it in early 2013 after begging her parents for it). In this drawing, Elena is posing and looking at the camera because her and the friends she had in high school were having a fun Halloween photoshoot when they were hanging out together! This was the last time Elena celebrated Halloween. Ever since, she has not dressed up for Halloween, but she plans on maybe doing it again some time and having fun with her new superhero friends.

Another Elena lore fact: Her hair in here looks pretty similar to her "trademark" hairstyle because 2019 was the year she really started to experiment with her hair and try out new styles! There's a short backstory of why she wanted to have this type of hairstyle. When Elena was 14 years old, she began to listen to more of Iris Chacón's music (a Puerto Rican artist). She actually knew who Chacón was since she was younger, but she didn't really listen to any of her songs. The only ones she knew were "Caramelo y Chocolate" and "Tu Boquita." But then in 2014 she knew more of her songs and she liked them too! One time on the internet, she stumbled upon and old picture of Iris Chacón with a unique hairstyle she never saw before. (The picture below)

She thought this hairstyle was very interesting and she wanted to try it out herself! She has already been wanting to try out new things with her hair at 14, but her mom wouldn't really let her. So she had to try her best to style her hair in a similar way with only a brush, some hair ties and hair clips. Obviously it could've looked better, but she tried her best and liked how it came out! So she sometimes would wear it to school and to public spaces. (⬇️ 14-year-old Elena)

Well, I guess that's all I have to say for now! It was really fun sharing some oc art as well as some more information on my character! I really love giving my ocs small and "insignificant" pieces of lore, backstory, context and information. Why? Because it gives them more personality and humanizes them more!

Also I know that this drawing I shared could've been a bit better in some ways (like the hand holding the machete, for example), and that shading isn't really my thing, but I'm still learning and practicing! 💖 (⬇️un-shaded version)

Dewi is showing the Bug Gang™ the bugs from "his world". He refrained from showing them his pinned bug collection. So he caught some live ants, roly polies, a moth, and a single grasshopper to put on display.

Quirrel is already enamored, these bugs are somewhat similar in their wasteland counterparts, but are more... intriguing. They are more diverse in color and shape, and most of all, they don't seem as hostile. How queer.

Ghost is having to resist trying to kill these strange and simple minded enemy bugs. If they cant communicate they are friends, they must be foe.

Hollow is quite horrified and uncomfortable, but is so conditioned to not show emotion, is having a hard time trying to communicate that.

Hornet is...conflicted. On one hand she's used to bugs being mindless zombies. But these ones here have always been without mind. It disturbs and intrigues her.

Sure! :DD I don't have any references for them on hand, but these two images show their designs pretty decently.

Agent is a pretty rare case of a tall dragonfly, so he's one of the lucky few bug species who can still fly.

Victim is a very special case: a cordyceps fungus in a locust host. Cordyceps are pretty rare, and locusts are just as rare. Locusts aren't born, they are triggered. Usually from a grasshopper or cricket, after going through an extreme trauma they become locusts, but the only locusts discovered are dead. Victim is no different.

Cordyceps are also pretty weird. Most cordyceps simply take the body and woe. zombug be upon ye. However, ancient Roaches wanted to try and replicate immortality and thus began the kidnapping of other bugs and experimenting on different species and themselves with cordyceps. It IS possible for somebody to live on thanks to the fungus, as the fungus can take and hold memories rather than replacing them. Only thing is, those cases tend to be artificial due to the extremely specific requirements

That being magic and a strong body. Poison and Ice are the easiest kinds of magic to work with, and one of the few species that can physically handle the cordyceps and magic without overloading the fungus are moths.

Victim got lucky. He was Alan's first little experiment when he discovered that bugs come from little larvas and eggs and if he grows his own bug then he can have endless entertainment. Victim couldn't fight back well against Gammas or whatever other Deadlanders Alan threw at him, but Alan is observant. He knows bugs use roach crystals to heal by hitting them. So he basically impales Victim alive with a crystal and murders him lmao

Cordyceps finds Victim's body and attaches to it, and he got lucky enough to where the tiny shards of crystal stuck in his system was just enough for the fungus to hold his memories and self. So victim basically becomes the fungus.

BUT THAT IS STILL NOT GOOD. It was sheer luck and because hes not even a moth the connection is pretty unstable. In a strong bond, there would be no worry about reverting to the zombie-like state, but since his connection is so unstable it can get triggered.

On the bright side, this makes him a living magic detector. Its how he finds one of the shards of the Wasp King's crown so easily, which allows him to brainwash Chosen One. On the ugly side, you get this:

This happens after Victim tries and fails to kill Alan. He basically gets really pissed that Alan doesn't want to kill him anymore, that he isnt even trying to fight back, and starts mentally spiraling because of it. He compares himself to the other Hollows which are all sorcerers and have magic, and chalks up his failure and lack of control over the situation to that lack of magic.

So to fix that he basically ditches everyone and goes to Snakemouth Den, aka the original lab where the Roaches experiment cause goddamn that place is potent with it you can literally see it in the air. Basically goes there and something something recreating the events of trauma so you can control the outcome, smashes a shit ton of the crystals into smaller shards.

Agent brings the color gang into this (the only mercenary who knows about vics situation) because he had a feeling shit would go wrong and boy was he right. Victim drives the crystals through his exo-skeleton and

he does it. he gets poison magic. but he still gets knocked down easily so rinse and repeat of him attacking, getting beat, healing by impaling with a crystal, and so on. But yeah the more magic he siphons from the roach crystals the more it makes the fungus kinda lose it and slowly but surely the grip the fungus has on his memories and self starts slipping and the instincts from the fungus and the sentience starts getting blurred. Yeah sorry victim in your obsession and greed for control for others you lost control of yourself

Basically a boss fight at that point, feral zombie vic vs his loyal lapdog of a bug and 5 children. At first its just operating off of the instinct of getting them OUT of the territory, but he also burns through the magic really quickly which means he needs more and oh look at that cute little bee hes full of magic. Basically a stalling game of blocking off the exist and making sure he doesnt rip the crystal stuck in seconds head out.

Eventually they win and after a quick revive from Second, an unconscious victim gets carried to an inn by Agent and everyone leaves the caves that day with so much trauma yippeeee

Been having dreams that should be nightmares but I’m totally chill about them in my sleep. Last nights was about zombies that when they bit you bugs would erupt from your skin to the tune of 3 foot long grasshoppers and grubs of unnatural dimensions and this could be transmitted by zombie dog bites but the whole time in my dream it was just sort of some body horror inconvenience and I spent the whole dream making fun of some gun YouTuber who claimed to be prepped for the apocalypse but was woefully unprepared for zombies or even basic sustainment

elytra headcanons i doodled a while back! feat. my favorite joe ive ever drawn

you know how there's different types of dragons in fiction? i noticed that whenever a work has different kinds of dragons there's always this specific type that always shows up: the basic red fire-breathing dragon

this sometimes applies to other fictional creatures too, whenever there are different kinds of a certain creature (like vampires or something) there's always one type that is the "basic" or "standard" one

i don't know if there is a reason for doing this in fiction, but i wanted to point it out

No, that makes sense. Our view of fictional characters depends on how they are portrayed in our culture. Perhaps to you, dragons always seem to be portrayed in literature/films as red and fire-breathing, because that is the media that you consume or is immediately available to you. But if you ask someone from a different culture, their idea of a "dragon" may be entirely different, perhaps even the opposite.

Here's an excerpt I really like that gives us one possible explanation for this:

Nearly every culture has myths about something called a "dragon", despite the fact none of them can agree on exactly what dragons are....[The depiction of dragons] generally fall within two traditions, "Western" and "Eastern", which come from almost certainly unrelated mythological currents and only share the name of dragon due to a questionable case of cultural translation: Westerners who encountered stories and images of Chinese and Japanese dragons sprung on the similarities to the European dragon and couldn't think of anything better to call them. And even then, in addition to cultural differences, dragons fall into a very wide range of types even in one local mythology.

They differentiate between Western & Eastern Dragons as well, for instance:

Western // Eastern

Are scaly and reptilian (outwardly, anyway), and usually serpentine. // Are Mix-and-Match Critters, though the exact components vary (generally, they can best be described as either "lion-snakes" or "wolf-snakes"). They sometimes evolve out of Seahorses or Legendary Carp.

So it seems your idea of a "dragon" is more western. However, the line between Western and Eastern depictions are becoming blurred in recent times, as many authors are integrating various aspects to make their stories stand out, constantly borrowing from different traditions and cultures. Some even create completely new attributes, which is great.

Similarly, with the depiction of vampires, the stereotypical image or trope that you know may not be the norm for someone else. For example:

Chinese Vampire: An undead being from Chinese Mythology called the jiāngshī, depicted as a hopping vampire/zombie that feeds on chi or life energy (though some jiāngshī drain blood while they're at it due to cross-cultural influence.)

The Malignant Cycle (1931-1948): The vampire is treated as a creature of pure horror, as popular in the early films like Nosferatu and Universal films.

The Erotic Cycle (1950-1985): The vampire is considered evil but alluring, like in the Hammer Horror films.

The Sympathetic Cycle (1987-2001): The vampire is seen as a tragic monster to be pitied, but still feared, though they can sometimes be redeemed, usually by becoming human once more.

The Individualist Cycle (2003-present day): The vampire can be bad, good, or in between, much like humans, and their transformation to vampirism does not imply a change in morality.

The sheer number of different and contradictory myths that have built up around vampires over the years have made it difficult to explore all of them in great detail. The very first mention of a cure in TWD happened as Amy was lying dead, but prior to her waking as a zombie.

Rick mentions the CDC while Andrea waits over Amy's body.

The writers repeat and invert everything, so it's no surprise to me that Amy and Beth are linked to a cure theme.

When Beth first opens her eyes and wakes at Grady, we not only see a visual parallel of the blue eyes opening, we also see a clock pointing to 532

532 means Ami, from which we get the name Amy.

Besides the brulent blue-eyed walkers in DD1, Amy is the only one I can think of that doesn't have yellow walker eyes upon reanimation.

The beginning is the end, and Daryl coming across the blue eyes of the brulent walkers, at the beginning of his spin-off, will be repeated with Beth's blue eyes at the end.

Amy wears a t-shirt with stars on it when she dies, hinting to 🌟 The Morning star linked to the star of David/Israel, which her name (Ami) is also connected to.

Amy gets shot in the head in a visually similar manner to Beth.

The theme of water being involved around the time of Beth's disappearance (after Grady) is something that keeps coming up.

Oh, oh, the mermaid swimming away, and Emily's album Swimteam both seem to be lined to this theme and the pool of Bethesda.

We also saw Daryl's map wash away in Find Me when he was searching for Rick's (Beth's) body.

I recently talked about the possibility of a storm coming in when the group tries to bury Beth in my breakdown of Omaha Hotel.

Amy and Andrea are located next to the quarry filled with water when she dies and turns.

There are a few other connections to Beth and Amy that I want to mention.

Amy is Andrea's little sister, and we expect Beth to take on some of Andrea's role when she returns, becoming "little Andrea."

Amy got bitten on the arm, which is something that has been speculated happening to Beth prior to her getting to Grady (the CDC)

She also got bitten on the neck like Andrea did in season 3.

Amy took an unusually long time to turn (all night), and her sister wouldn't allow anyone to touch her or stab her through the head.

If Beth's story is a retake on Amy, then I imagine the same scenario happens with Beth.

She doesn't get stabbed in the head because they already believe the bullet put her down, but her fingers twich, like Amy's did before she awakened. Possibly causing an argument about stabbing her in the head to be safe.

Maggie and Daryl will not allow this...

When her body does go missing, they will indeed think she reaminated as a walker, causing Daryl to start tracking her, but a storm and water causes him to lose the trail like with Rick's map, which made Daryl scream like he was at the absolute end of himself.

One other link between Beth and Amy that's worth a mention is mushrooms, yes fungi.

Lori calls Amy the mushroom queen. 👸Lori calls Amy this because she is off finding mushrooms.

How is this related to Beth?

Well, we saw mushrooms mentioned in TOWL in relation to the girl living in the museum, the same girl who hid in the grasshopper sculpture. Thorn tells Rick that her group grew mushrooms 🍄 we know the museum and grasshopper symbolism is linked to Beth.

Well, in Find Me, we see Daryl sitting next to a log with mushrooms growing on it.

Find Me and Consumed really are templates of how he will find Beth, and finding Beth aka the Morning Star (Jesus) 🌟 will make Daryl a fun guy 🥁 🥁 🤭

Happy guy = Happy ending.

So today I don't so much want to talk about some unknown mech I dug out of the bowels of Sarna, I just want to gush about a classic.

Whenever I build a list for playing Classic Battletech, I usually tend to focus a lot on my mediums and heavies. I like mechs that get into the thick of it fast and brawl and joust. Jumping jack Thunderbolts, Grasshoppers, Wolverines, Wraiths, etc. Light mechs are important too- scouts and light support and knives to push into the backs of people too busy dealing with my fast battle line. But when I get to the 80+ ton bracket I always think to myself 'why am I looking for slow fire support? I already play An Assault Mech,' and then I strap myself back into my Awesome.

Originally designed by Technicron Manufacturing in Merrick space furing the height of the Star League, the Awesome AWS-8Q was supposedly intended as a replacement for the aging Striker. The Striker itself is fairly forgettable product of early human mech design- it isn't much too write home about beyond being a janky bracket firing pile of direct fire weapons stapled onto a chassis with a questionably large engine and far too few heat sinks. I've got a feeling someone at Technicron thought the same when they looked at Stormvanger's offering.

Gone is the 320 power plant, replaced by a 240 rate fusion reactor that allows the Awesome to stride around at a stately top speed of 54 kph. All of that extra weight savings has been plowed into heat sinks to manage the Awesome's primary battery, 3 PPCs firing at unified ranges, something it does fairly well for its age with the ability to maintain a run while volleying in a 3-2-3 pattern with no decrease in performance. The Awesome is also incredibly thick skinned, carrying 97% of the potential armor its chassis weight allows, a fact that combines with its total lack of ammunition-bearing weapons to make an absolute zombie of a fire support unit- the only way to kill an 8Q is to core out the center torso or kill its pilot. That isn't to say it's without weakness- the low speed of the mech combined with the safety interlocks on the particle guns and the lack of any secondary weapons beyond a single head-mounted small laser means the Awesome is vulnerable to flanking attacks, especially whilst operating unsupported. Something for commanders to consider when fielding or facing. The 8Q is an absolute classic of a mech that continues to deliver well despite its age.

The Awesome has many variants (a few very good, a lot weird and LRM based because the purple parakeet spent most of the succession wars stapling every PPC they could get onto their Awesomes and still coming up short) but I'll just go over my own ride of choice. After an early and fairly mediocre modernization package in the 9M which mostly just made the Awesome more like the Striker (over-engined, under-sinked, and with a return to pointless ammo-bearing sidearms to threaten the precious 320 XL engine), Technicron delivered their own take on a 31st century Awesome in the form of the AWS-9Q in 3057. If the 8Q is a classic car, the 9Q is what happens when someone looks at that car and asks 'what if we super charged the hell out of it?' Unlike many other IS designs of the era, the 9Q is very deliberate with its use of lostech, simply cutting 9 heat sinks and replacing the rest with far more efficient double freezers. Those 9 extra tons play host to the mech's 4th PPC, an ECM suite, and the last available half ton of armor. As far as I'm concerned, the AWS-9Q is the zenith of Inner Sphere assault mech design prior to the adoption of clan tech and God's perfect direct fire support platform. Once it finds its hill, it will pump out PPC shots in a steady 4-4-3 pattern until the enemy removes it, and for a mear 1,875 bv or 7,456,050 c-bills, that's a damn good deal.

So, the next time you're building your inner sphere lists, consider the Awesome. It might not match the flashiness of the Clan assaults or the versatility of something like a Battlemaster, but it does beat them in terms of efficiently cranking out armor-stripping salvos until the enemy is scrap. And that's pretty awesome
