FOTOmercado this Saturday in Chicago, November 9, 2024, 11 AM to 6 pm at Chicago Art Department, 1926 S. Halsted.

I am gearing up for the event FOTOmercado by going through my couple thousand press photos. I will be bringing about 50 of these to sell, including the ones shown here, in addition to Public Collectors publications that are photo-focused. Most of the photos are protest-related around a ton of different concerns. They will be inexpensive. I hope to see you there, if only to share space together in these sad times. In addition, in response to the post-election moment and at the invitation of organizer Oscar Arriola, I'll be mounting a one day exhibit in a display case of most of the original photos that were used in my book Protest Grim Reapers. This will be a rare opportunity to see these images in their original un-cropped format. Most of the photos in the book will be shown, along with some newer acquisitions. This free event happens this Saturday from 11 am to 6 pm at Chicago Art Department on 1926 S. Halsted in Pilsen. Organized by ZINEmercado and Chicago Art Department.

the ghost of kinderpau is #1 of pau’s inverted childhood series

it started out as an accident --- they visited their hometown library to make a scan of their favorite childhood school photo and it came out in black and white (image on the left) -- it wasn’t what they wanted but later on took a life of its own and went from sad bby to angry demon child (image on right). 

a version of ghost of kinderpau was recently featured in the 2017 ZINEmercado compilation zine

Amiguis les comento que mande algunos de los zines que he publicado al @zinemercado, una feria de zines que se realiza en Chicago, estoy muy emocionadaa mis zines estarán a la venta junto con otras geniales publicaciones de otros paises :3 así como algunos colegas de mi localidad :) Mande tres publicaciones una de ellas es “Crear para acercarse” la cual se realizó de manera colectiva junto con varios artistas de Mty. -- Robot Conciente, a new project from Robert of Sobredosis will perform along with The Tormentors at The Outtaspace in Beeeerwyn.

-- A Flor de Piel performs at the Sangria Festival.

-- Pilsen Fest begins Saturday. It's a 2-day outdoor festival located at Blue Island and 18th Street and this year's performances include Celso Piña, Sussie 4, Little Jesus, Nacotheque, Los Master Plus AND the Largest Bohemian Rhapsody Karaoke at 7PM.

-- Luna Blues Machine will be at Montrose Saloon.
