Back In Your Arms Again {pt. II}

[pairings]: Tara Carpenter x Fem!Reader

[summary]:Tara sighs and closes her eyes, trying to keep her tears in as her lips tremble. Why did I even think she’d wanna talk about it?stupid.

You, Zhanna, Andrei and Bao are sitting in their kitchen, having dinner and talking about random stuff until Andrei speaks up -as he was pretty quiet until now-. “So, Y/N..” He starts and all of you turn to him. You cock your head to the side, awaiting his question. “Are you… or are you not moving in with us? Cause like, you taking your sweet time deciding and it has been a while so you must’ve made a decision by now.” Andrei raises his eyebrows while looking at you as he puts down his fork.

“Well, I mean I already told you guys that I don’t wanna be a burden and I’d rather suffer with……….Tara” You swallow thickly while avoiding Zhanna’s gaze.

“OH come on!” She exclaims. “You can’t be serious! That bitch doesn't deserve you, not even your presence!” Zhanna huffs angrily while looking at you.

Bao sighs and places a hand on Zhanna’s forearm. “Babe, calm down. She didn’t say she forgave her, she said she’s willing to share a dorm with her. Not the same thing.” She tries explaining to Zhanna who’s still glaring at you. Zhanna just huffs again and looks away from you, deciding to glare at the table instead.

“Yeah, Z. And if I really can’t tolerate it anymore, I’ll come here. First thing” You try reassuring her to which she responds with only another huff and a turn to the side. You shake your head softly while sighing deeply before getting up. “Speaking of… I need to get back. By this hour she’s probably asleep which gives me enough ‘me’ time in the dorm.” Andrei raises his eyebrows at your statement to which you only react with a roll of your eyes before going around and hugging everyone then saying goodbye before walking out to the streets.

Although it’s only November, the streets of New York City are covered in snow. The snow that's currently crunching underneath your boots as you walk.

After a good 20 minute walk, you found yourself back on campus and walking to the dorms. Once you’re at your door, you stop and stomp a little to get rid of the remaining amount of snow on your boots before hesitantly opening the door. As you step in, you see -to your dismay- Tara by her desk. You suck in a deep breath and that’s when she looks up.

“Y/N. Hi. Where’ve you been?” She asks, turning to you as the orange light of Tara’s desk lamp illuminates on her face.

You blink once. Twice. And three times before answering her while turning to take off your winter coat and boots.

“I don’t see how that’s your concern and business.” You bluntly blurt out, walking over to your wardrobe and taking out your pajamas.

Tara huffs and bites her lip. “Why not?” But, oh, she knows all too well why not. But, nevertheless she still asks, which results in you turning to glare at her before storming into the bathroom. Tara watches with sad eyes, biting her lip before shaking her head and looking back down at her book.

About half an hour later, you return from the bathroom and sit down on your bed while drying your hair with a towel. You stared at the back of Tara’s chair for a while before speaking up. “ Did ….Chad come around today?” You say his name almost like it’s a disease. One that can not be cured. A virus that can not be killed.

Tara pauses her reading for a moment before looking up at you. “No. He didn’t”

You wouldn’t admit it out loud, but that kind of relieved you. You let out a small ‘hum’ of acknowledgement. Tara looks at you a minute longer before looking back down at her book. The atmosphere is awkward. The tension can be cut with a knife as silence falls upon the two of you.

The silence only lasts about 3 minutes before Tara speaks up.”So, I know we have a lot to talk abo-” Before she can finish her sentence you cut her off.

“Night, Carpenter.” And with that statement you turn off the lamp on your bedside table and lay down.

Tara sighs and closes her eyes, trying to keep her tears in as her lips tremble.

Why did I even think she’d wanna talk about it?

stupid.

Tara thinks to herself before swallowing thickly and letting out a shaky sigh. Her head turns to the direction of your -now- sleeping form. You have always been fast to fall asleep. Her eyes scan your body before shaking her head and looking away as she gets a text. She looks down at her phone.

Chad 😊💕

-hey, Tar. You up?

Tara sighs and hesitates before texting back.

Tara 🤭

-yes. why?

Chad 😊💕

-wanna meet up? 😎😉

Tara feels her jaw clench as she looks at the screen. Ever since you’ve been living in the dorm, she’s seen Chad less and less. She knew why. He knew why. Even you knew why. And Chad is still trying to save what’s worth saving. And..maybe Tara should, too. But she just couldn’t bring herself to. Not when you’re a part of her life again. She’s not gonna let go this time. She’s gonna keep holding you until she physically can’t anymore.

Tara 🤭

-no. sry. Have to study for midterms.

Chad 😊💕

-okay. that’s fine.

But then again, are you going to try coming back to her again? Do you still think about her when you’re alone? Do you still think about that night?

Cause she does. And even Chad can’t bring her mind to peace about it. How could he? He wasn’t even there, nor does he care enough.

Headcanons Winter cold

⚾️ Scout x Reader 🍗

When Scout decided to surprise you and come to you, he did not think that when he came to you, he would be waiting for a terrible cold. He knew you lived in the north, but he had no idea it was so cold there. That's why when he knocked on the door of your house he was chilled to the bone

You were genuinely afraid for his health, so you hurried to take him to the fireplace and put him on the sofa, then wrapped him in a blanket. You were too worried about him to scold him for being so thoughtless about his health. You assumed that he would get sick, so you decided to take care of him so that his cold would not become a serious problem

You hurried to give him hot tea and make hot soup. The house was warm and cozy, unlike the street, and the Scout was glad that he was warm. He tried to joke, despite the fact that he was still a little shaken from the cold. He understood that his surprise turned out a little different from what he had planned, but he was still glad that you could spend time together

Scout was glad that you paid so much attention to him. He hoped that when his cold passed, you could spend time together enjoying the snow. Maybe he could catch a cold again, but he was willing to do it to spend time with you

🪖 Soldier x Reader 🦅

Soldier did not think about how strong the cold can be in the area where you lived. He knew that you lived in the north, but he didn't consider it a problem when he decided to come to you. His clothes were thin and he quickly became cold, but when you said this, he began to deny it and claim that a slight cold does not bother him

Despite the fact that he said he was fine, he quickly caught a cold. You didn't see the point in arguing with him, but you intended to take care of his health, realizing that if you didn't, he could get sick with something much worse than a common cold. That's why you're going to treat him in the ways that were at your fingertips

Soldier treated your care with slight disdain, believing that he could overcome the disease, but you were too persistent for him to refuse you. He talked to you a lot while you were treating him. You weren't against it, but sometimes his desire to tell you something distracted him from the treatment

Soldier was not very worried about his health. He didn't think about getting sick when he decided to go to you. He wasn't worried that he might get sick when he came to you through the snowdrifts. He was not afraid of even the most terrible cold because he came to spend time with you and a cold and snow were not an obstacle for him

🔥Pyro x Reader 🦄

Pyro wanted to surprise you, that's why he went to you. He assumed that it would be cold in the north in winter, so he prepared for this. He walked to you on foot through the snow, but when he felt that he was frozen, he lit a fire. When you saw the smoke, you were afraid that a fire had started and hurried to find out what had happened. You didn't expect to see Pyro, but you were too busy trying to prevent the fire from spreading

You took Pyro to your home and only found out there that he wanted to surprise you, so he came to you without warning you. You weren't mad at him and you was glad to see him. Now you and Pyro could spend time together without worrying about being distracted by work. You could devote time to each other, at least until he had to go back

You spent a lot of time on the street. Pyro loved playing snowballs with you and building snowmen. He liked spending time with you, as if you were in a real winter fairy tale. When you both froze, you hurried back to the house to warm up by the fireplace. You were glad that the weather was calm outside and that you didn't encounter a blizzard

Pyro was glad that he came to you after all. He really missed you and was glad that you could spend time together. He only had a couple of free weeks and he hoped that he could spend this time together. He didn't know how long it would be before you met again, so he tried to enjoy every moment with you

🍺 Demoman x Reader 💣

When you invited Demo to come to you for a vacation, he agreed. He loved his mom, but sometimes he wanted to spend time not listening to her discontent. The trip to you was supposed to be a breath of fresh air. You warned him to get dressed warmer because the weather has been cool lately. However, he did not suspect that by coolness you meant extreme cold

He was glad that you met him at the airport, because he doubted that he could walk to your house in such weather. You were surprised that he dressed so easily, but you promised to look for something of his size among your things so that his entire vacation would not take place exclusively within the walls of your house

The first few days you took the Demo outside. You sincerely hoped that there would be more such days, but the weather deteriorated quite quickly, which is why you were forced to spend time in the house. You didn't want it to ruin his vacation, so you tried to find as many good ways to spend time together as possible, hoping that the weather would get better soon

Demo didn't see bad weather as a big problem. The house was warm and cozy and the main reason why he came was you. He wanted to spend time with you, regardless of whether you were on the street or in the house. He was just glad that you could finally spend time together

🥪 Heavy x Reader 🐻

When Heavy came to your homeland, he felt the cold so familiar to him. This cold reminded him of the place where he grew up. You were glad that he came to stay with you for a week. You didn't ask for more, realizing that he also wanted to meet with his family. You hoped that his stay in your homeland would go well

You and Heavy are both used to spending time in the cold, so you spent a lot of time outside the house. You were glad that there was a person with whom you could walk and who did not experience severe discomfort from the cold. You were glad that you could take a walk in the forest that was next to your house and you also went to the frozen lake together. You loved walking in nature and were happy to share it with someone, especially with Heavy

In the evenings, you sat together by the fireplace and chatted. He told you about his family and how they lived together. You always listened to him with interest, but usually someone interrupted your conversation, but now you could communicate without worrying about being interrupted. Even the blizzard that started outside the window after nightfall could not interfere with your joint pastime

Despite the fact that his vacation in your homeland was short, you were glad that you were able to spend time together. Heavy hoped that next time he would be able to invite you to his homeland and introduce you to his mother and sisters. You were an important person to him and he would like to introduce you to other people important to him

🧰 Engineer x Reader 🎸

For Engineer, your offer to spend a vacation in your homeland was a surprise, but he was not against it. He prepared in advance for the cold weather, remembering your stories about your homeland and how it was cold there almost all year round. You were sincerely glad when he arrived and hurried to take him to the house, fearing that he might freeze, not getting used to such weather

Engineer watched with a smile as you walked through the snow with a twinkle in your eyes. You loved snowy weather and he knew about it. He hoped that you would be able to have a good time even though he is not used to this temperature. It's never been as cold in Texas as it is in your homeland, but next to you, the cold didn't seem like such a terrible thing to him

In the evenings, you spent time in the warmth and comfort of your home. Engineer played guitar and sang songs to you and you told him about your childhood, in which you and other children played snowballs, made snowmen and played in the snow. You told him about how unusual it was for you when you first came to work with other mercenaries because you were not used to such warm weather

Engineer was glad that he was able to visit your homeland. You were a dear person to him and he wanted to know more about you, about your youth and about the place where you grew up. He wanted to share his homeland with you, which is why he decided to invite you to Texas with him next vacation. He hoped that you would be able to have a good next vacation, as well as this one

🕊 Medic x Reader 💉

Initially, Medic did not plan to take a vacation. He wanted to devote this time to work, but you had other plans. You knew perfectly well that even during his vacation he was not going to rest, so you insisted that he go with you to your homeland for at least a couple of weeks. You wanted him to rest at least a little, that's why you insisted on rest so much

When you warned him that it was cold in your homeland, he assumed that there was about the same temperature as in his native Stuttgart, but he was wrong. It was much colder in your homeland. While you reached your house, he felt that he was chilled to the bone, trying to warm Archimedes whom he took with him. You were absolutely not against the pigeon also living in your house. For so long that you were together you got used not only to Archimedes but also to all the pigeons that he had

For the first few days you stubbornly tried to get him out for a walk on the street, Medic preferred to stay warm at home. He didn't mind walking, but he understood that your excessive enthusiasm could lead to a cold or another similar disease. It wasn't a problem for him to cure you or himself if one of you did get sick, but he wanted to avoid it, since he had a vacation

It was not so important to you whether you went for a walk or spent days in the house. It was the main thing for you that Medic finally rested. You knew that he spent a lot of time working and experimenting, hardly resting. You were worried about him, that's why you insisted on taking a break. The last thing you wanted was for him to overload himself and drive himself to exhaustion

🦉Sniper x Reader 🎷

Sniper was surprised when you offered him to go to your homeland for a vacation. Initially, he planned to go to visit his parents, but after your suggestion, he changed his mind. He wanted to spend time with you outside of work, confident that you would not be disturbed by your colleagues who were constantly around at the most inopportune moment

You were traveling to your homeland together and at first Sniper was surprised that you had a lot of warm clothes, but when you finally arrived, he understood the reason for this. There were deep snowdrifts and snowfall outside the window of his camper. He wasn't ready for such a cold, so he had to run inside your house very quickly to keep from freezing

Sniper spent the first few days in the house. Even though you were able to find him warm clothes, he did not seek to go outside. You did not force him to go outside, sharing leisure time with him in the house, knowing full well that it is difficult for a person who has lived in warmth all his life to be in such cold. It was also difficult for you when you first came to work as a mercenary because you had never been in such warm conditions before

When your vacation began to come to an end, Sniper decided that during the next vacation he would invite you to go with him to Australia. He wanted to introduce you to his parents, because you were an important person in his life. He didn't want you to spend your next vacation alone

🚬 Spy x Reader 🗡

Initially, Spy's plans did not include a trip to your homeland, but circumstances arose because of which he needed to urgently go away from prying eyes. He had a lot of detractors and lying low was the right decision for him in his opinion. You knew perfectly well that he came to you for a reason, but you agreed to provide him with temporary asylum

Spy did not expect that it would be so cold in your homeland. He felt cold every time you just opened the front door or window. He was unaccustomed to such a temperature, which is why he spent a lot of time with a cup of coffee by the fireplace. Every time he smoked, you opened the window to ventilate the room because of him, he muttered curses, feeling cold

You perfectly saw the slight Spy's irritation, but it was fun for you to annoy him. You did it when you were at the base, even though it didn't extend to the battlefield. Neither you nor he did it for the purpose of really pissing you off. It was a normal part of your relationship, as well as talking about literature. Gradually he got used to the periodic cold and his irritation faded

Despite the fact that Spy did not plan to stay with you for a long time, he did not regret that he decided to spend time with you. For the first time in a long time, he felt comfortable and calm. He was away from the hustle and bustle, he was close to you. He was able to relax at least a little, being sure that he would not have any extra problems from this

👓 Miss Pauling x Reader 📋

Miss Pauling was the only one who knew where you live. She remembered the day she came to you to recruit you as a mercenary. That time she didn't prepare well enough and it took her some time to warm up in your house, warming herself by the fireplace and warming her hands on a mug of hot tea. She did not think that she would come back here again, but this time she did not come to you for work and was much better prepared than last time

You were genuinely glad to see Miss Pauling outside of work. At work, you rarely had the opportunity to meet in person, and every phone conversation was only for work, because no one should have known about your rapprochement. But now you were given to yourself and no one had to stop you. She had a vacation that she planned to spend with you and she hoped that nothing unexpected would happen

Several times she got calls from work, but these conversations did not last long and it pleased you. You knew that she was overworking and didn't want her to load herself with work even during the holidays. That's why you tried to spend as much time as possible with her on the street. There wasn't a lot of interesting things in the city near which you lived, so you preferred walking through the forest that you had known since childhood. She was not against these walks, allowing herself to relax a little

Miss Pauling was glad that she decided to come to you. Next to you, she could not worry about work and about the huge number of problems that she had to solve after the end of the vacation. But until her vacation was over, she intended to spend as much time with you as possible

🗻 Zhanna x Reader 🍯

Zhanna was glad when you invited her to stay in your homeland. For her, it was an opportunity to see other places in a more relaxed atmosphere. You warned her that you lived in the north, but it wasn't a problem for her. She is used to the cold, even to such severe cold as in your homeland. She was already glad that she could visit your homeland with you

You were happy to show Zhanna the city near which you lived. There wasn't anything very remarkable there, at least in your opinion, but she was interested to see the place where you spent your childhood. Even in spite of the cold, you agreed to give her a little tour of the city to show her all the places that she would be interested in

Zhanna enjoyed walking around the city with you. You went to the fishing pier together. It was especially cold there, but it didn't bother you both. You were glad to see the interest in her eyes. You had no idea what it was like to live in isolation from the outside world all your life, but you were ready to help her gradually begin to live a full life, even if this life began in your hometown

Zhanna understood that there are a huge number of places in the world that she wanted to visit, but she hoped that she would be able to visit these places with you. She hoped that you wouldn't mind traveling together, after which you could return to your homeland together

Pauling loves how much she is cared about by you two. She’s never really had a true relationship before you two, and having a loving relationship with two women is so new to her, but also so important and healing. When she’s had a tough day at work she loves to come home to the both of you and all her worries melt away in your company.

Pauling expresses her love for you both in telling you how grateful she is for the both of you and how wonderful and beautiful you are to her, she earnestly wants to be with you two forever.

His mother raised him right tbh.

He holds it and does NOT let anyone else near it.

Gets in the face of anyone who does try to go near it. He will threaten to destroy their kneecaps.

Why is he an 8/10?? Because he can be dared to drink it smh.

Lord knows he cannot say no to a dare. Especially if it's a triple dog dare.

Soldier

6/10

He treats this drink like his life's mission.

Calls people who get too close to it un-American and "probably communists"

Probably screeches like an eagle if anyone brushes him while he holds the drink.

Will fight people over this. Follow the sounds of violence. Literally. Soldier doesn't mess around.

At one point though he gives it to a raccoon.

Will fight his way to getting a new drink though so that's nice.

Pyro

Pyro's got this one down pretty well.

They will not let their eyes off it. Guards it very very well.

Glares at people who get too close, but is somehow a sweetheart at shrugging people off.

If they suspect anything's happened to it at ALL during the time they've had it they'll just get a new one and say they've covered it.

9/10 because they try to set it on fire at one point to "check the alcoholic content"

Demoman

He tries to drink it almost instantly lmfao.

If he doesn't drink it?? He tries his hardest to not and guard it.

He's a naturally protective guy ofc he's got our drink under lock.

He holds it in tandem with his, higher above everyone else. Closely watches it.

Just waits patiently in the area we said so he can give it back to us like right away.

he'll literally hold anything you ask him to so that's like bonus points lmfao. He wants us to be safe.

Probably says something like "I'll watch it again if you need to excuse yourself" we literally stan.

Engineer

He's another pretty normal guy who just does the Southern Gentlemanly thing.

"Sure thing, honeybee!" and just waits while we go off and do our thing.

He's such a mama bear like come on. Will not let anyone near it but isn't obnoxious about it like Scout can be. Just holds it and makes sure it's not tampered with.

At one point though if we take a while, he might swap it out to water or whatever.

He's literally so sweet and understanding.

Medic

He's a bit of a party animal but he'll hold the drink if we ask.

At first, he's really on it.

Will not let anyone near it and threatens to shoot people who get too close. He gets really, really creepy and ends up weirding them out before they can tamper with it tbh.

Then he gets distracted to hell and back. Places it down and forgets where it went.

Apologizes by getting a new one so A for effort.

Sniper

He's kind of a quiet guy so like, we ask him to hold our drink and he's just "yeah okay."

He's pretty good about it tbh. Just continues talking to people he's familiar with and holds it while we do our thing. He doesn't really drink too much himself, so he just walks around, talks and holds the cup.

Tells people to get out if they think about tampering with it.

He doesn't mind holding our stuff so like, hey that's pretty good.

He's a little prone to moving around though so like, good luck finding him again after leaving his side lmfao.

Spy

Spy drinks his respect people he likes juice. He acts annoyed at asking him to hold the drink but like, he's lowkey honored we trust him with it.

It's a pretty natural thing with him. Has his eye on people who might mess with it and is already thinking of ways to dispose of them if they mess up.

If he thinks the drink choice is bad he might,,,, he might change it to something of "better taste"

He'll hang around the area we popped off to so we can find him right away.

Ofc he's a sarcastic little shit about holding the thing but the drink will always be in good hands if we ask him.

Miss Pauling

She's honestly a little mentally preoccupied with other things.

She still has our drink though so like,,,,,,,, doesn't let anyone near it.

Tells them to go away or is really flat with them.

Gets a tad distracted by her work and the Administrator so that kind of sucks??

Also we don't really need to look far to find her, if anyone touches the drink she just shoots them. We have to follow the sounds of gunshots. But hey! At least our drink is safe.

Saxton hale

Literally traumatizing.

He asks us if we want to pay him for his services. Obviously not just hold the drink wtf.

He begrudgingly holds it and tries to get us to pay him a dollar. NO.

Takes his job somewhat seriously and just punches people who get too close. Yes, he has started fights over this.

Will sell our drink to someone else though he's easily swayed by money.

The Administrator

Zhanna

She's actually pretty solid but gets into fights like Soldier does.

Is icy with her words and will demean people to leave your stuff alone.

Like Heavy, she's not bothered to hold our things. Finds it a small honor and just "yes, this is a good bonding exercise."

Ends up staking out whatever room we went off to just to make sure we stay safe there too.

She takes guarding people seriously. Trust her with your life and your drink.

i feel like your...optimism, let's call it, is what attracts them to you in the first place. even as blood and gore splatter in front of you, as shrill screams fill the air, you always seem to be as chirpy and positive as ever.

admittedly, your mannerisms and personality probably flew right over soldier's head at first. he's oddly oblivious when it comes to things like that. it takes him time for him to pay attention to you as a person entirely, but eventually, he does. his appreciation is a little simple, finding you to be a very brave american citizen, whose smile just so happens to be very pretty and constant. matches your shimmering smile tenfold, especially as something horrible is happening.

your shining personality happens to catch zhanna's attention fairly quickly, however. she found it very admirable how positive and cheerful you could be no matter the situation. and even despite your bright personality, you weren't too talkative, nor were you a crybaby. you didn't need to be coddled, and she appreciated that.

it wasn't long before soldier and zhanna started to have discussions about you, about how they would pursue and woo you, and how they wanted you to be an addition to their relationship.

how they court you is actually very straightforward. they are both very blunt, honest people, and the thought of dancing around the bush is just silly to them. not to mention they are both basically each other's cheerleaders. if one has a chaotic thought, the other will suggest something even more batshit crazy and it just carries on from there.

so it's very easy they probably asked you out in a very chaotic way. probably asked if you wanted to go kick some maggot ass and you said hell yeah and they just claimed you as their partner from there on. not that you were complaining.

how it all came to be aside, i do feel like they genuinely adore you. you're their little sunflower, and they would die for you in a heartbeat. would also kill someone for you if you asked.

the way your smile glows so brightly makes them so warm and fuzzy inside. it's such a constant thing to them now, that if they didn't see you that day - say because of a mission or because you hadn't come out your quarters yet - they'd feel so deflated. of course, they adore each other's smiles, but there's just something about yours that makes them feel so lovely and cozy inside.

missions are basically dates where you all just kick ass. <3

but there are other things too that don't include violence. like snuggling up on the coach or the bed and watching movies while eating dinner and/or snacks.

or going out to drink during the weekend. the best times are when none of you remember what happened the night prior. <3

everyone's at least a little bit afraid of you three, but they couldn't ask for anything more.

As I’ve said about Soldier, he’s very, very protective towards you, but he’s not possessive or restrictive. Zhanna is very much the same way. They know they’re much bigger than you, so they make it their responsibility to protect their Cupcake (Soldier is the one that started calling you that, but eventually Zhanna started calling you that too).

Zhanna is totally okay with Soldier keeping his raccoons in the house, so unless you say that the raccoons have to stay outside, be ready to constantly have a raccoon on your shoulder or in your lap while you’re at home.

You kinda have to be The Responsible One in the relationship most of the time. They try to help be responsible, but they honestly don’t always succeed.

Soldier obviously has a lot of PTSD, which is often debilitating to him. You and Zhanna mean a lot to him because you help him when he’s trapped himself in a circle of anxiety and fear. You two keep him grounded (or as grounded as he can get lmao).

Don’t ever worry about your shyness, because Soldier is always talking, and Zhanna doesn’t mind speaking for you if you need it.

Soldier is always picking you up and carrying you around. He often crosses his arms under your rear so you can wrap your arms around his neck and walk around like that. But he also likes to toss you over his shoulder for fun. Zhanna is jealous but knows she’s too big to be picked up.

[Pairings]: Tara Carpenter x Reader

[Summary]:“What the fuck’s she doing here?” Zhanna almost spat as you rubbed her arm while looking up at Tara before turning back to Zhanna. “Sh–she just gave me a ride. That’s all.”

[warnings]: swearing, angst (kinda), my writing, not proof-read

A/N: oh, I wanna write for CC so badddddd (from Emma's new movie)

The next day, you woke up -and Tara, too- to the sound of your phone ringing. You sat up and looked at your phone.

Zhanna.

You rubbed your left eye with one of your hands to get rid of the sleepiness then answered the phone. “Yes?”

“Y/N! Oh thank god, you picked it up!”Zhanna’z voice was shaky as she spoke which immediately made you stand up from your bed- making Tara alert as she silently watched you- and furrow your eyebrows.

“Zhanna? Is everything alright?”

“No! Yes…I don’t know..” She sounded like she was on the verge of tears and you clenched your jaw.

“What happened?”

“I-I..” You could hear she took a deep breath before continuing.” Bao…an-and Andrei. Th-they got into a car accident this morning. “You felt your chest tighten upon hearing her words. “An-and I’M in the hospital right now. They told me..they. “She let out a sob and you swallowed before springing into action and rushing to get your coat and boots as Tara got up, too.

“It’s okay, Z. Just calm down and continue.”

“They told me that Bao is in surgery as well as A-andrei. Y/N, I–I can’t do this. I can’t lose them.” Your eyes welled with tears as one of your shaky hands went to open the door.

“Al-,,god, alright, Z. I’ll- I’ll be right there, okay? Just hold on.” You tried assuring her, but your own voice betrayed you.

And that's when Tara spoke up. “Y/n…..” You looked up from the doorknob. “You know you can’t drive in a state like this. Come on, I’ll give you a ride.” She said, walking over to you, now fully dressed.

You bit your lip, hesitating before you heard Zhanna’s loud sobs from the other line and slowly nodded, going right after Tara as she opened the door and started walking out of the building.

Once outside, you felt yourself shiver as the cold winter breeze hit you as you rushed towards Tara’s Ford Thunderbird with Zhanna still on the line.

You and Tara got in and the moment the car was out of the parking lot, Tara sped across roads to get to the closest hospital.

You pushed the doors of the Lenox Hill Hospital, immediately looking around for Zhanna while Tara followed behind you. You sighed shakily before sailing Zhanna’s number once more. After a few seconds, she picked up.

“Z, where are you?”

“I–I..uhm..I think the-the third floor.”

“Okay, okay. Just hang on. I’ll be there in a minute.”

With that you hung up and darted towards the elevator, Tara still hot on your tail. When the doors closed, you slowly glanced at Tara before mumbling a small “Thanks for the ride” to which she nodded.

After about 30 seconds, the elevator stopped and you rushed out of it, running down the corridors until you found a curled up Zhanna on one of the waiting chairs.

“Z” You said quietly before walking up to her and hugging her.

Her body tensed first before she relaxed into your hold and hugged you back. After about two minutes of hugging-and Tara just standing awkwardly-, you pulled away, before Zhanna pulled you down on the chair next to her and sat you down. That”s when she noticed Tara and her soft, crying turned into glaring atTara.

“What the fuck’s she doing here?” Zhanna almost spat as you rubbed her arm while looking up at Tara before turning back to Zhanna. “Sh–she just gave me a ride. That’s all.”

“It better be just that. I’m not in the mood for her.” You swallowed thickly before glancing up at Tara who was just standing, staring at the floor.

After about an hour and a half, Zhanna was asleep on the waiting chair due to you soothingly rubbing her back for so long. When Tara noticed this, she took the opportunity and sat down next to you, to which your immediate reaction was to scoot away from her. “Just ‘cause you gave me an emergency ride, we are still not on talking terms.”

Tara sighed heavily.”I’ve told you…I’m sorry.”

You looked at Tara with an almost disgusted face. “Sorry is not going to fucking cut it, Carpenter.”

By the way you looked at her, Tara almost thought about giving up. Giving up on you. Giving up on the two of you. But she won’t.

“I know.” She closed her eyes and turned away from you, tilting her head up to face the ceiling.

“God, I already lost too much.” You mumbled as you looked towards the doors that one of the surgeries were held in.

“I can’t lose you guys, too. I wouldn’t be able to…handle that.”

Tara’s closed eyes filled with tears and a lump was starting to form in her throat upon hearing your words, knowing that she indeed, a part of the ‘too much’.

But if only you knew. If only you knew that you still had her. But you didn’t. And she hated it.
