God, that ending!!!! @silviakundera you probably won't like it because it's open, but I screamed - literally screamed - in open mouthed glee.

Xiu and SYL got themselves besieged and trapped and they are so very much going to die.

And Di Lin figures it out and is all "argh morons!!!" sounding 100% like a frustrated dad whose kids are engaging in reckless behavior AGAIN and he's clearly worried sick.

Ahahahaha OMG, Di Lin, I love you SO MUCH, he is SO channeling the responsible older brother, fed up with cleaning up his siblings' messes but never planning to stop because he loves them.

And then after cursing their idiocy, he goes:

I am DYING!!!

And his second in command is all it's suicide omg wtfffff

This is AMAZING!!! The way it's shot - the way Di Lin finally walks out of the darkness into the light.

THIS IS WHERE I LITERALLY STARTED SCREAMING!!!!

That grin!!!

Da Ge to the rescue!!!! And yup, he walks fully into the bright light, genuinely smiling and happy, not in the shadows, not doing butcher work for Lord Canxing, but going off to heroically save his brothers.

Never, not in a million years, would anyone be as cool as Di Lin is at that moment.

And the drama ends on that and I am genuinely fine with that. Hopefully they will air part 2 (in a year? pls pay your taxes everyone!) but this is such a good note to leave it on! (And I have the novel if I get impatient.)
