My guy is on Chancellor Palpatine's speed dial while simultaneously knowing Kal and the Nulls are up to shit and he has to allow it or else he's getting hosed too. The middle management struggle is real.

He's a totally decent human being who probably has seen his fair share of the Jedi Order doing good in the galaxy, and at first I think he's on board with serving the Republic in the war until his employee-son Bardan hits him with how WRONG it all is. And by then Zey CAN'T LEAVE--who would take his place? Somebody worse, for sure, because he knows how some of the Masters treat the clones because he used to be one of them.

as a kid bardan is way too sensitive to kill the spiders!! they're living creatures!! with feelings!! they didnt do anything to deserve death!! if he pays too close attention he can feel their tiny little life end in a flash!! and he's not scared of spiders anyways, they can hang

bardan wants to drive so so so bad. no sane person wants to be in the passenger seat when bardan is driving. arligan lets him drive SOMETIMES. he gets way too excited about it and makes arligan regret this decision immediately. just because you can drive with your eyes closed because of The Force doesnt mean you HAVE TO, BARDAN. fortunately he's a great getaway driver

arligan strikes me as having very specific tastes, when it's possible to reasonably accommodate. not necessarily fancy or over the top, but precise. bardan, like every teenage boy ever, will eat anything that enters his field of vision

Hm, I may not have that much since I'm in process of redoing my version of Lacroix' backstory but here is some tidbits i may or may not keep:

The Lacroix family isn't particularly influential or important, but very entitled power and loyal to the Ancien Régime. So when Elder Lacroix is approached by a mysterious stranger with ties to a secret military conspiracy and a offer for glory and power to his son, he accepts it.

The conspiracy is actually keeping Ventrue influence alive in the French military against a turbulent political atmosphere and changing demographics (peasants in the army, can you imagine?). The boy is dull, sure. But he is of nobility and quite obedient. Not a bad find.

The Sire is maybe of Hardestadt lineage. If you want familiar faces and higher stakes. Also there is this cool lore sheet in the V5.

Sometime around Battle of Waterloo, this little battalion he got for himself is cornered by some sort of enemy, likely mortal maybe supernatural. So the Sire resorts to Sabbat tactics and initiates a mass embrace. Sebastian somehow survives. He always does.

An absolute scandal when the word of this gets out. And yet trough negotiation, a careful smokescreen and some boons the Ventrue save their own to save their face. The event somehow gets covered up.

Thus his sire absolutely despises Sebastian. His greatest millitary embarrassment, not dead and beside him wherever he goes. He could get rid of him yet that would be too suspicious.

(Maybe he gets killed in presence of Sebastian. Maybe that would be overkill for the storyline. idk. But he doesn't)

Edit: He doesn't have any reservations in sending his childe in situations where death and disgrace are highly probable. He even seeks it. Such as New York during a violent Sabbat campaign and such as the lost cause that is Los Angeles. He could end him at this point if he wants. The scandal of 1815 is far behind. Yet it's more fun this way.

This may not make sense, historically or lore-wise. This was a good exercise to get my thoughts in order. So... Thanks, anon!

tell me about the etain bardan and zey one even though i know exactly what that is~

ok ok ok so

I originally had two fic ideas, one was going to be a shorter fic about Maze meeting Zey and Bardan for the first time, and the other was going to be about Zey and Etain's Qiilura mission which I thought Bardan would tag along for because wtf was happening with Zey finishing Etain's training when Bardan is RIGHT THERE?

I have a whole post about trying to put together the facts about the undercover Qiilura mission post-Hard Contact that I need to publish, but for the purposes of this ask: I decided Bardan got promoted sometime between sending off Omega squad and Zey going to pick them up at the end of Hard Contact.

This would explain how Zey could finish Etain's training and Bardan wasn't there. Etain thinks about the Qiilura mission throughout the books and never mentions Bardan being there, so this makes sense to me.

Sooooo while Zey and Etain are in Qiilura I'm going to have Bardan and Maze awkwardly work together until Zey gets back. 😈

Sequel: The Lady Next Door - Mayternity

The lady next door has been your neighbor for quite some time now. Her name is Gwendolyn Laurent. When she speaks her voice has a French accent that somehow draws you in. Some times you go over to help her with random chores. As months pass you notice her belly is bigger than average; realizing she’s carrying more than one baby than the rumors said.

Out of the blue you thought of her. Wondering how someone as beautiful as her doesn’t have a husband or partner to help care for her. There is a knock upon your door. Rising to your feet you wonder who could it be. To your surprise it’s Gwendolyn when you open the door.

“J'ai besoin de votre aide.” She says looking into your eyes. Your expression becomes puzzled as you don’t understand French. She raises her hand to her chest.

“Forgive me, I am learning English. Could you help me with bulb?” She smiles embarrassed.

You turn the light bulb from above and the light turns on. The you climb down the ladder.

“Oh thank you Monsieur! I would have fallen to my death because of how pregnant I am now.” Gwendolyn caresses her huge belly.

“Do you like tea? Coffee?” Her accent is thick on the word coffee.

In the kitchen she pours you a cup of hot water with a teabag in the cup as well as a cup for herself. Gwendolyn sits down, her belly pressing against the table. You smile and ask her if she was married.

She shakes her head no.

“I was never marry. I hads a few boyfriends, but zey never last.” She pauses thinking she should tell him about her unborns father.

“There is no father if you was wondering. I seen doctor who gave me mysterious man batter as I asked, then doctor inserted it. Now I carry triple of what I wanted. But I am very happy to finally be ze mother I always wanted to be.” Gwendolyn smiles innocently staring out the window while rubbing her belly. As you look at her belly you can see them moving inside her.

“Would you like to feel?” Before you could answer, she takes your hand and places it on her belly.
