All my protag from Dragon Age!! An idiot, an idiot, a sweetheart.
With very important informations regarding them of course.
Below the cut is just me rambling about them with actual informations, you can ignore LMAO
Artemis Tabris is a city elf with a fierce personality. Extremely stubborn, he refuses to stay silent in front of whatever discrimination he and his people can face. He's extremely protective of his friends and his family. Of course, it was only a matter of time before he would do something that would put him in big troubble. When his wedding day is interrupted in the worst way possible, he seeks vengeance for all the women, not caring for the consequences. He was glad to become a grey warden, as he thought it would give him the opportunity to finally be properly respected and to protect his family more than ever. He did lack the proper discipline though, often just doing whatever he wanted to do. His main past time is annoying Alistair, mostly by rubbing his relationship with Morrigan in his face. It started as more or less of a fling, but he grew very attached to her in the end, even going as far as searching for her despite everything. In the end, he gives up, and ends up with Zevran instead, and the two men manage to find happiness in life.
"Nacht" Hawke will never say his real name because he thinks it's lame. No, he's a hero, he's the main character, he's so cool, so he gets to name himself. He's a sarcastic piece of shit. He loves to annoy Carver, and the two of them doesn't go along. Despite his many flaws, he values friendship more than anything. Varric is his bff for life, and at this point they probably have matching tramp stamps tattoos. He's fiercly pro-mage, not exactly like Anders. Nacht's point of view is just "I was born like this and I just think I deserve the right to live". He's in general very against people in position of powers and in favor of the common folks. There's not a day that goes with him and Fenris fighting then kissing right after. He resented Carver when he chose to join the Templar, but they both made peace in the end, agreeing that they'll never manage to get along, but accepting to protect each other because they're family.
Aloysius Lavellan would gladly do anything else instead of being the Inquisitor. Still, the weight of the world on his shoulders is too overwhelming to ignore, and he's doing his very best to lead the organization to success. What he lacks in leadership and charisma, he makes up with determination. Cullen is coaching him for public speaking, and Josephine to polish his public image. Aloysius is in general too soft and too gentle to be a leader. He's shy, introverted, anxious, and always wondering if he did the right thing. Still, with a bit of help, he actually manages to become a worthy leader, respected for his humility and overall kindness with his men. He still doesn't know how he managed to secude Iron Bull but he's very happy about it and he loves him so very much. He tends to be kind of naive but he's very knowledgable on the world. He knows everything about plants and can rambles about them for hours. He's friends with every companion. He's a great mage, and he's always eager to improve his skills and magic, and he's not the type of man to rest on his laurels.

Isla Amell
21 years old (beginning) // 36 years old (Warden Commander)
Mage - Blood Magic and Daggers
Romance: Leliana
Besties: Zevran / Ogrhen / Morrigan / Shale / Velanna / Madame (Dog) / Sigrun
Not Besties: Sten / Justice / Wynne / Alistair / Anders / Nathaniel
Isla has rage... a lot of rage. Not even her position among the nobility could prevent her from being taken to the Circle against her will... Years and years of abuse and submission to get a single crumb of humanity from the damned Templars turned her into a cold and manipulative woman, using her charm and her appearance to be able to "cheat" some rules in the Circle and get contacts to at least have a life with a little more dignity. Duncan's arrival in the Circle was like a one-way ticket out of that hell, but for that she had to betray her only friend...
Leliana was a sweetheart, a type she hadn't met before and wouldn't even imagine meeting, a Chantry sister being so kind to someone like Isla was really a surprise.
Blood magic made Isla feel not just powerful, but confident, strong. As if she would never need someone to help her again, as if no one would EVER DARE to try to hurt her again, for that she only needed to trick some nobles and pretend to save a little brat who played with magic.
She is now a Gray Warden, a commander, yes, she is looking for a cure, but she will not leave her post at such a delicate moment for the wardens and even if it hurts her heart to be so far away from Leliana, she cannot risk it. Her blood magic helps control the Calling and that has been a relief, but there were still days when it was complicated... Voices that sometimes called her from the shadows, that whispered in her ear, she was never afraid of ghosts and It won't be now that I would fear. Isla will find the cure for The Calling and help not only her, but all the Wardens she needs, she will return safely from her quest and will soon be in the arms of her beloved again.

which da character would each of the bnr gang most project onto
JASDLKFJSLKEFJ STOP THAT'S SUCH A GOOD QUESTION LOL...
Let me think...
Bea:
Probably Hawke? literally just chilling, but constantly having an unending pile of shit falling into their lap as they're trying to fuckin pay a mortgage 😭😭 +bonus points for protagonist energy
Laz:
Zevran. Suave but traumatized❤️ Truly an absolute sweetheart, but just yk. Maybe did some questionable things perhaps a murder or two in the past, but he's just a funny lil guy and it's his birthday dw about it. Tbh Alistair might also fit, but given Zevran's part of a murder group, just a bit of a fuckup, I think it fit a little better.
Alex:
OK LET ME TELL Y'ALL, I am STRUGGLING with Alex. I am going to TENTATIVELY say Cullen. BUT. Well meaning person who's haunted by their past. I think Alex is also a classic romantic MINUS THE DEMON SUMMONMING OK, LET ME EXPLAIN- and he has yk. A bit of a history and struggle with demons.
Amira:
Varric, *BUT. I don't think she's as unconditional as Varric is. She's obviously a lot more willing to put her foot down, but she's the mature chill one who's good at sort of keeping a group together if needed. She's just a fun person to be around.
Ginger:
don't ask me to elaborate, I won't.

ROUND 4 MATCH 8
Zevran propaganda:
“The bisexual elf man”
"what about 'for the chance to be by your side i would storm the dark city itself'?? he can essentially propose!! if you die he canonically never loves again!!"
"literally the sweetest romance ive ever had the chance of doing
everytime i play origins i try to romance someone else but the momebt he starts talking i absolutely melt!!!!!
zevran shouldnt just be boiled down to bisexual elf man
he also is deeply traumatized since he was used for his body since a young child
so the warden and zevrans romance is such a sweet and slow romance ws you slowly help him realize that you dont just see him as his body!!!!
hes the sweetest man on earth and i will die on this hill
i will never love anyone more than this man"
Derek propaganda:
"Impossible to dislike
No, like, literally impossible. OL1 will allow you to be indifferent to it's two other LIs, Cove and Baxter but you actually can't pick that option for Derek. Game decided that You Will Be (at least) Friends With Derek
This boy is so good!!!! He's a sweetheart and has your back in the best way and he's constantly doing his best to make sure the people around him (especially you) are happy
This is also a complex flaw of his because he feels like he needs to be the best that he can be and to be worth something
This both manifests in how he treats others (he's exceedingly well-mannered and does everything for others because he secretly hopes that someday someone will do the same for him) and his career prospects (he takes on excessive practice to get good at football/soccer so that he can potentially get a scholarship and become famous all so he can potenially feel like he's worth something. This is actually a major conflict in his Step 4)
His DLC also has some of the best moments in the game
He also has a family and they're also really good and you get to see a lot of them
His dad is hilarious, his mom is gorgeous and their relationship is very cute
Meanwhile, Derek's brothers are great. I wanna gush about them because I love them but also play Derek's DLC yourself!!! See how good they are for yourself!!!!
I will say that these three have a really good relationship dynamic and the development it takes in the 10 years between when you first meet Jorge and Nico as little kids to Step 4 where they're adults (and a teenager, Nico is 16 in Step 4) is genuinely very well written
If you're into the steamy stuff, Derek also has the best make-out session out of all of the boys
He's also just. Very funny. This boy will invite you to a waterpark and then ask you if its a date so he knows whether or not it's ok to check you out in your swimsuit
Or, if you aren't dating by that point (but you do want to to date him), the narration will note how he's trying so so hard not to check you out, he's just trying so so so hard
Puppy dog face. Look at it. Tell me you can look at that face and not want to smooch him
His confession is also the best, did I mention it's the best? Because it's absolutely the best one in the entire game
He has a whole thing about having to confess to you on a ferris wheel and he's so committed to it that he actually avoided ferris wheels for a long time before this confession because he promised himself he'd do it the next time he went on one
And then he went on one...and he literally doesn't confess when he does it because he lost track of time and he had to get off
so he asks you to go on the ferris wheel with him again so he can actually confess this time
Just. Just vote for him!!!!"

Show us your ocs!!!!
Okay okay. Note that I'm bad at remembering to take screenshots, so the ones I have will have to do. I'll do my video game ones, including Dragon Age (origins and inquisition) and Baldur's Gate 3. Yes, they're all very similar I know, and yes I like playing as elves shush.
Baldur's Gate 3
Current Tav: Rion About: Half-Elf/ Rogue/ Thief/ Urchin Canon Romance: Gale
So this is Rion, and he's romancing Gale. He's pretty charismatic (12) but don't ask him to lift anything. He's like every other guy in the game and has a total of 8 STR. You also can't see it here, but he has red highlights that show up in the sun. As for personality, he's mostly good aligned, although he will sometimes cause problems on purpose, especially if he thinks it's funny. He's a sweetheart and has a bad habit of picking up stray children (he wants to protect them like he wasn't when he was a kid), so yes, he finds the tiefling kids funny and even gave them some tips on how to improve their scams. Fun note: He's transgender, which is why he makes certain decisions (He got magic hrt don't ask me how it works it's magic), especially if it comes to affecting how he looks.
Also, I didn't realize that there was another half-elf with his name in the game until I met them. Was a bit funny, since they pronounce it like Rye-on and he pronounces it as Re-On.
Dragon Age Origins
Hero of Ferelden: Da'len Tabris About: City Elf/ Duel wield Rogue/ Assassin Canon Romance: Zevran Arainai
Da'len is my Tabris Warden! Her name means "Child" in Elven, and the story behind that is her father heard a mother calling to her child, and thought it was a wonderful name despite her mother's (rightful) disagreement. Turns out, she's just permanently named 'Kiddo' (which earns her some weird looks from those who actually understand elven to her annoyance. She didn't choose her name, her shut-in father did). Always the troublemaker in her family she wasn't ready to settle down at the beginning of her adventure, giving her family a headache, but that doesn't mean she won't kill for them. She fell in love with the assassin who tried to kill her. She's somewhat grated against humans, which gets her in trouble a lot, especially when she doesn't put up with their bullshit, and even more so when she thinks a knife is a good way to solve a problem (I mean, sometimes it is). Still not sure who's bright idea it was to keep her as the leader of the group, but nobody important died, so that's gotta count for something, right?
Ironically, despite having a mabari, she's not really a dog person.
Dragon Age Inquisition
Inquisitor: Ferris Lavellen About: Dalish elf/ Archer Rogue/ Assassin Specialty (I also played him as a mage at one point.) Canon Romance: Dorian Pavus
This is Ferris! He's a Dalish hunter turned savior for a god he doesn't even believe in! (Well, he sort of recognizes the maker as "a god" but more like the human's god versus his pantheon.) He originally had brown eyes, but due to the Breach and it's magic, he got very green eyes that sometimes weird people out because of how unnaturally green they are (No, they never change back, so good thing he looks good with green eyes). He struggles at first because he has no idea what proper human social cues are, but eventually he figures it out. He doesn't really like being a leader, but does it because someone has to fill the role, and he's the only one who's going to do it. He wasn't too sure about Dorian at first, but he came to fall in love with his sarcasm and flirting. (Ferris is not subtle about his flirting with someone who could be considered an enemy socially, something that makes Cassandra and Josie want to pull out their hair)
Fun fact, this boy right here is how I figured out I'm a gay trans man!
So that's my OCs from those games. If anyone wants to learn more about them, feel free to drop an ask! I know I got a bit ramble-y here, but I had fun!

Name: Caoimhe Tabris
Age: 19 in Origins
Class: Sword and Shield Warrior.
Subclasses: Champion, Templar, Spirit Warrior
Fighting Style: Caoimhe is a tank. She can take a hit and keep swinging. Growing up keeping an eye out for humans who get to pushy, she’s honed her talent of hit hard, hit fast, take the blow and keep going. Becoming a Warden only enhanced this as she uses the skills taught, and later the power of blood, to be even better at what she does.
Personality: Caoimhe is a bundle of sunshine dedicated to being the kindest person she can. She’s empathetic, thoughtful and just a general sweetheart. She always goes for diplomatic before pulling her sword out to show why she’s known as being ‘actually terrifying’. She has her hard spots and can get very angry but she’s very much the kind of person who believes that it’s not healthy to hold that in. She may dislike certain people and enjoy fighting them when allowed (her glee at taking down slavers was noted by her companions) but she believes that kindness is truly what can change people. And if she’s wrong- she has a sword.
Best Friends: Leliana and Zevran. Shale to actually.
Romance: Alistair
Main Story Beats: Saved the Mages, Connor and Isolde are both alive, Werewolves and Elves made peace, Anvil destroyed with Bhelen on the throne, Ashes safe, Dragon dead, Dark Ritual done and Alistair is a warden with her. Amaranthine and the Keep saved. Architect dead.
#dragon age#dragon age origins#Caoimhe Tabris#To Be Kind#yes I was misspelling her name before lol#inquisition is gonna be hard

Ohhh fellow dragon age player???
Tell me more about your protags 👀👀👀
Oh, yes! :D It feels like I've been playing it forever at this point. But, okay! I do have sideblog for my da bullshit here but I haven't chatted about my protags in ages, so let's go! Apologies for the length ahead of time. ^^;;;
The Wardens: Left to Right.
Suibhne Tabris, the pragmatic & polite rogue whose always up to teach folks the old alienage proverb of 'no child of Adaia Tabris makes empty threats'. Push him if you dare. He's my technically canon warden and the leader of Origins ragtag group. Mainly because he's very stoic and chill. Mhm. He was left at the Chantry as an infant before the Tabris family adopted him. He loves his family dearly, and took Adaia's death very hard. Like he didn't speak for years after and people feel like he ended up as very muted version of his chaotic child self. But grief can change you, and that's okay. He romances Zevran (utterly smitten~), Morrigan is basically his sister, is the one that does the Dark Ritual, and he'd love to meet his son but respects Morrigan's wishes to keep away. He's just a chill sweetheart who will murder a whole castle of nobles to save his loved ones~. I love him. c: <3
Nari Aeducan, the iconoclastic & favored former princess of House Aeducan. Oh, Bhelen. You can keep the throne but you will never feel safe within the walls of Orzammar again. <3 Nari is... my newest Warden, and not super fleshed yet. She lost her eye in her childhood during a training match, and asked Daddy Dearest to get her a lyrium prosthetic eye. Because it neat. In my canon, she misses out on meeting Duncan and gets to roam around the Deep Roads until the Origins group finally stumbles over her like two months later? She's a survivor~~~ She also enjoys sweetly terrorizing her baby back-stabbing brother. <3 No idea who she'd romance, honestly? Probably no one. Her mind is just set on causing chaos in Orzammar. Bless her.
Raniel Surana, the tempestuous and diligent mage that lasted like four days outside of the circle before she turned to blood magic. To be fair, she was dying at the time & Mouse is cool. Raniel was my very first Warden~~~ Sooo. Her and Tabris both met Duncan before going to Ostagar, and she's both enthralled and terrified and so bitter at Jowan, so she's just bouncing in every direction. During the first fight, the orge atop the Tower bites off her arm and Rani, not wanting to die with her new friends, asks Mouse for help. She's Super Bitter and Pissed for most of the story, as losing your home and arm will do to someone. No one really questions the weird white mouse that travels on her shoulder. But Leliana and the others sloooooooowly bring back her old romantic self. Stories and stars do the soul so much good. She ends up as the Teryna of Gwaren, is a happy little blood mage and since Leliana is my canon Divine, is basically married to the highest religious figure in Southern Thedas. Go Raniel~~~~
I never got as attached to my Hawke as my Wardens or Inquisitor (weird as DA2 is my favorite game so far), buuuuuuut this is my current one.
Revelry Hawke, the stepford-smiling put-upon third parent of the Highly Dysfunctional Hawke family. All they wanted in life was to keep their family together and safe, and they Failed! Constantly! Carver died in Lothering! Bethany died in the Deep Roads! Leandra died in Kirkwall! And Revelry blames themself fully. :'D They're technically a rouge, but personal headcanon is they have magic too but just for Entropy spells and this goes unnoticed by all until the Arishok stabs them in Act Two. Losing one's family does have a way of letting you let go of a lot of things, does it~~? Forever sides with the mages, I do imagine they got offered the Viscountship post-game (because it's dumb that's Templar-locked) but Revelry stepped down after like five days. They're known as the Five-Day Viscount now. And they, idk, probably ended up in a polycule with everyone accidently. That seems like a very Revelry thing to do. o:
Do I have a favorite protag of the lot? Yes, it's Mir. :D
Mir'uvenan Ruoho Lavellan, aka Mir, aka Miracles, my beloved and endlessly chaotic Inquisitor. Left his clan because of his toxic and deeply codependent relationship with his twin brother, Mir is basically a shattered mosaic of trauma, impulse and passion. He doesn't know why he's here, he wants to burn the Chantry to the ground and steal its foundation to boot, and people are! Praising him?!? Him? Why! Whhhhhhhy!?! He's not a leader! TToTT!! Except, that's all the gaslighting talking. Mir is stupidly clever and intelligent, endlessly caring and absolutely has no issues telling off Ancient Tevinter Gods and their Fake Archdemons. He lost all his fucks when he got the Anchor, so fuck it. He'll do his best because he's kinda stuck here anyways. TT____TT
(And Bull's like 'this is why you're the Inquisitor, Kadan~~')
Mir's an absolute little nerd who adores mixing his own alchemical concoctions because smashing highly volatile flasks against his skin is just Heaven~~~ He ends up losing his hearing Quite A Bit because of all the explosions, but whatcha gonna do~? Dagna and Rocky teached him Dwarven Sign Language to help. He likes hanging around Dagna to learn magic in the non-magic way too because It's Fascinating! o: <333
Mhm. Romances Bull but it's pretty open. Sera is his BFF, and Dorian a close second. Never gets comfortable being the Herald or the Inquisitor, doubly so after the Jaws of Hakkon, triply so after Trespasser. He disbands it, and is happier for it just being a Red Jenny with Sera and just finally enjoying life at long last with a good support system of friends and connections. I always play the game as Mir slowly working through his miserable self-worth and healing through all the trauma his brother put him through, so I like him ending the game having more neutral-positive outlook. He is actually Not The Worst, and ain't that nice? c:
(He's still gonna punch Solas in the face if they meet again tho. Because friends don't let friends destroy worlds, and he already proved people are just as worthwhile now as long ago.)
And if anyone actually read through all of that, thank you and bless you for reading about my silly little protags I've put Far Too Much Thought into over the years! ;;v;; <3
Also, enjoy a silly comic of Mir buying 57 hand puppets. <3
#gabe stfu#i forgot how much i write and i'm sorry this is so long#enjoy my silly little da protags#i'm excited to add another to the list soon

I am very bored so I will be rambling about my dragon age hero’s just because. Maybe just talk about how they get along with each companion. I’ll add a photo or doodle of them so you know what they look like.
It’s all under the cut, I wrote a lot more than I thought I would. I’m so sorry.
Vara Surana (Hero of Fereldan):
My favorite one, if I’m honest. I probably just like her so much because she’s from the first game, and I LOVE Origins. I love all the characters, the story, though I hate to admit it, it’s the only of the three games I haven’t finished. I’m working on it I promise.
Her romance is Alistair (hes my favorite, basic I know). She doesn’t make him king and they live happily ever after. Honestly I just LOVE their romance, makes me all giddy and everything. I have a thing for good relationships in games. I love it when you get Alistair to talk about the Warden in Inquisition and he just talks about how much he loves her and how he wants to make her life easier. I LOVE HIM AHDBDOS.
Anyways, Vara loves all her other companions. She gives Sten his cookies before he goes back to the Qun, a lot of cookies. She’s with Oghren at Ameranthine so she does things often with him. Writes Wynne and Leliana as much as she can. Wynne is her grandma, being raised in the circle she never had a real family (except Irving), Wynne was the group grandma. Zevran probably bothers her as much as he can until she disappears. And Morrigan, uh, idk, she probably doesn’t talk to her until they meet again at the Inqusition.
Vara, uh, she’s pretty decent. She’s probably got PTSD from everything that happened before, during, and after the blight. Her life was a shit show from the start. It just got worse when she became a Gray Warden. That’s probably why Alistair says he wants to make things easier for her, that she deserves that much. (I FUCKING LOVE ALISTAIR UUUUUGGH).
Maya Hawke (Champion of Kirkwall):
Uuugh Hawke, I love Hawke. She’s a goofball up until Anders (spoilers) BLOWS UP THE FUCKING CHANTRY. She is altered man. Part of it is probably because she was romanced to Anders, at first I was doing Fenris then on my second play through, already knowing what was happening I purposely romanced him just for the angst. I forgot to mention I also love doomed romance. Anyways Hawke fucking killed Anders, poof, dead.
I think the only companions she really ever stays in contact with is Varric and Merrill. Everyone else is just gone, done with Hawke and everything else. Given Gameln is her only living family, and he doesn’t exactly like her especially after her mothers death, she doesn’t talk with him. Varric is her bff though, Merrill coming in a close second.
Okay, I know Hawke didn’t get a lot of writing and I’m sorry. (If people are even reading all my yapping lmao). Anyways, Hawke has SEVERE survivors guilt. First her sister died, she got blamed for that by both her mother and brother (though Carver apologized right after and I love him so I’ll never be mad at him for it), the Carver died, she definitely blamed herself for that, then her mother. She probably didn’t leave her estate for a week after her mother died, probably didn’t even leave her room. Then she killed Anders, that was her breaking point. Her guilt took away whoever she was before and just makes her absolutely miserable all the time. I love her, she deserves better (I made everything that happened to her happen to her, I had complete control over it :)) ).
Sorry I don’t have any good photos of Hawke on hand, this is a very old drawing. She doesn’t look like this anymore.
Ayla Levellan (Inquisitor):
Finally Levellan, my absolute sweetheart of an elf. She’s probably the nicest of the three hero’s, trying her hardest (but failing to) avoid violence. If anyone was mean to her she would probably cry, for example when she was talking to Dorian for that quest where you have to talk with his father she says she thinks he should go talk with him and Dorian says, “I didn’t ask what you thought, did I?” Ayla would have sobbed in her quarters right after that, if not in front of him. I’m just happy Dorian apologized right after, I love their dynamic.
Ayla absolutely adores all her companions and advisors. She’s romanced to Cullen (basic again I KNOW), I just feel like they’re a perfect fit. Cullen is so sweet to her and I just feel like they just click. If she were a male inquisitor the romance would be Dorian, sue me.
Anyways. She didn’t let Backwall get killed even after his betrayal, she loves doing pranks with Sera just because. Though she does always feel bad after. She reads the Swords and Shields with Cassandra. Iron Bull tries to train her, she’s always sore after that. Her and Cole running around helping people, her favorite being the time they gave flowers to everyone. She’s terrified of Solas (trespasser messed her up). She’s also scared of Vivienne but for different reasons. Josephine and Vivienne dress her up, like pick her clothes for her everyday, Ayla is Dalish and has no sense of style. I like thinking Vara came to the Inquisition just because I said so, so her, Hawke, and Ayla all hand out.
Dorian and Ayla’s relationship is so dear to me. They’re like siblings, it’s awesome. The whole inquisition feels like some sort of a whole found family trope, more so than all the other games. I just love it. But I love the relationship between Ayla and Dorian, they’re just so dear to me I can’t. And Ayla and Varric’s relationship reminds me of a sort of parent-child relationship, almost like how Varric and Solas are to Cole. Wholesome I know.
When Hawke is with in Inquisition she normally stays with Vara or Varric, they’re tight. Or she bothers Cullen just because. Vara normally stays with Alistair but she also talks with Leliana or Morrigan, also Ayla and Hawke. Really she’ll talk with anyone who talks with her. Though Vara is definitely terrified of Morrigan’s little demon baby, no matter what she will be scared of that little 10 year old boy. She’ll shit herself.
Neither Hawke or Alistair die because I said so, shut up. I love Au’s where everyone lives and is happy.
My Inquisitor is definitely very anxious all the time, but I also like to think (just how I play her and everything) she any be on the spectrum. Just a thought though.
Another old photo, I really gotta redraw these losers omg.

To those of you who celebrate it, Merry Christmas!
This entry in my Satinalia week series is near and dear to my heart! A couple of Christmases ago, @charlatron and I firmly cemented my Hero of Ferelden, Briall, and her Inquisitor, Olivia, in the same world-state. 100% canon and I will die on that hill. As such, of course they'd see each other for Satinalia! Here's about how I imagined one of those dinners might go. Posted, of course, with Charlie's blessing, thank you! <3
Briall pulled the soft cowl of her sweater over her hand as she propped her elbow against the table, resting her chin on her palm. Sitting alone gave her the opportunity to commit every detail of the quiet moment to memory. She glanced through the doorway to the kitchen when she heard a smack, immediately followed by Olivia’s bright laugh.
“You’re supposed to be helping me with the dishes,” she informed Cullen playfully.
“I am helping you,” he insisted.
“What you are is a pain in my ass,” her best friend replied, throwing a damp towel at her husband’s face.
With a smile, Briall turned to find her own husband sitting on the floor in front of the fireplace with his legs crossed in front of him. Two toddlers were enraptured by his story, accompanied by flourishing gestures and character voices. The little boy chewed his fist with wide eyes while his sister stood on chubby, wobbly legs and supported herself by gripping his shirt. They were both far too young to understand what he said, but it didn’t seem to matter one bit.
They were so captivated, in fact, that her nephew started to hiccup, his whole body bouncing with each one. The little girl was a spitting image of her mother, which was perhaps why it was so amusing when she gasped at one of Zevran’s exclamations and fell back onto her bottom with a squeal of amusement.
She let the warmth of the cozy home seep into her soul. Their visit to the Rutherford household for Satinalia had been a wonderful idea and she was forever grateful that Cullen wasn’t too jealous of their history with his wife to allow them to stay.
“Are you okay, Bri?” Olivia asked, mistaking her contemplation for sadness.
Briall looked up and smiled, taking the wine glass Olivia offered. “I’m fine!” she promised,
“I was worried that being around the little runts might stir up some….things.” Olivia faltered for her last word, looking over at the trio by the fire.
“No, it doesn’t bother me. A family was never in our future,” Briall said with a dismissive wave.
Amused, Olivia snorted into her wine. “Sweetheart, you definitely have a family. This family.”
Briall looked over, taking a sip of wine. “Nice of you to say but you don’t have to go that far.”
“Look, I say this with all the love in my heart but you tend to miss shit that’s right in front of your nose.” She set down her glass, leaning toward Briall slightly. “Also, when have you ever known me to lie, or even exaggerate, to spare someone’s feelings?”
The elf’s brow raised as if to agree that she had a point.
“I don’t take all this-” she gestured around the house, “-lightly. You aren’t here because you were a good lay. Fuck, if I invited everyone that gave me a good time in bed I’d need a much bigger table.”
“Good?” Briall asked, narrowing her eyes in feigned offense.
“Very, very good. Great.” Olivia closed her eyes for a moment with a wistful sigh. “Earth-shattering.”
Briall chuckled. “Agreed, but don’t let your husband hear you say that.”
“He knows my ‘earth-shattered’ face,” Olivia assured her friend who blushed almost immediately. Maker, she was still adorably innocent. “Oh, Cullen!” Olivia grabbed his hand as he walked by, jerking him to a stop in front of them. “Bri and Zev; friends or family?”
He glanced between the two women, amber eyes pensive. “Is this a trick question?”
“What? No!” Olivia exclaimed over Briall’s laughter. “You two are peas in a thick pod,” she grumbled, rolling her eyes with a long-suffering sigh. “This one seems to think that she and her murder-husband aren’t a part of our family and that we just invited them for….some reason I can’t fathom.”
“Don’t let the twins hear you say that, they’ll be devastated,” Cullen said, glancing over his shoulder. He looked back at Briall sharply as a thought came to him. “Is this because of our history, in the Circle?” When they’d found out who had stolen Olivia’s triple-locked heart, it came to light that they’d both been in the same circle and there may have been some adolescent pining on both sides. And then there was Briall’s chance encounter with Olivia at the tavern in the middle of nowhere. And the subsequent trysts.
But, that had been a long time ago and they were both very clearly devoted to their loving mates.
“Yes, my love, that’s definitely the history she would worry might color your opinion of her,” Olivia scoffed, though she squeezed his hand affectionately.
“Oh. Oh... Oh!” Cullen rubbed the back of his neck, his cheeks now as red as Briall’s. He waved a hand. “That’s-” he cleared his throat, “-bonding activities?”
“Bondage activities?” Zevran piped up hopefully from the fireplace. Cullen started coughing and Olivia choked on her wine, nearly snorting it out her nose. Briall looked around a doubled-over Cullen and was grateful to see Zevran had one side of each toddler's head pressed against his chest and covered their other ears with his hands.
“You’re going to get us kicked out!” Briall laughed, slapping Cullen’s back a few times until he could regain his breath and straightened.
“Doubtful,” Olivia argued, “nothing screams 'traditional family Satinalia dinner' more than embarrassing the absolute hell out of each other.”

WIP Wednesday
Heyooooo thank you for the tag marvellous @heniareth and consequently delighting me with the goings-on of Astala my beloved!! And, like a seagull screaming for chip, I tag you back and @bumblerhizal , @siriskulksnerding , @ollifree for a no-pressure but please give snippets if available. 8) 8) 8)
(I may have been tagged in WIPs by others but my history isn’t loading atm so if you did please consider yourself tagged as well!!)
I’ve been futzing around with all 3 DA fics of late, and I just published the latest chapter of HWWT (posting soon to a dashboard near you but AO3 is here) but I have two snippets if that’s ok, one from The Minimum Wage, and the other from Your Personal Hero. I’m hoping that by posting snippets I’ll finally get the brainwave I need to wrap up the latest chapters of each... I’ll stick ‘em under the cut!
TMW:
Zevran woke up shivering. The fact that he had actually woken at all was motivation enough to get out of bed and begin the day.
Which was good, because the knocking at the door was getting impatient.
“Honestly,” came a familiar voice from the other side of the wood, “I don’t know why you’d pretend to be dead when you knew I was– oh, SHIT, the bastard’s died of the cold!” The door flexed and rattled as the Fire Warden proceeded to hastily bash it.
He’d be on the hook for who-knew-how-much if this woman broke his bloody door. Zevran hurried over and released the lock, stepping aside just in time for the door to burst open and the Fire Warden to scream past him in a crouch-run. She, and her armfuls of chimney sweeping supplies, finally came to a halt when she was almost at the window.
Zevran raised an eyebrow. “Dear lady,” he purred, “had I known you were so keen to see me, I would have dressed a little better, maybe found some wine for us both.”
The Fire Warden shot him a withering look. She straightened up and smoothed out her robes. “Might you have opened the door a little sooner, too?” she enquired pointedly. “I thought you’d turned up your bloody toes on me!”
§
YPH:
“You… I do not know what you want from me,” Zevran says quietly, stiffly.
My heart sinks. “Nothing, sweetheart.”
Irritability flickers in his eyes. “... Do you wish me to love you? Is that it?”
“No! Well, not unless you want to.”
“And after all this? Hmm? What then? What would you have me do, once I am registered and such?”
“Dunno. Not my choice.”
“Then whose is it?” he asks impatiently.
I give Zevran a meaningful look and gesture at him. It’s like he hasn’t been listening at all.
“Yours!” I exclaim. “You choose what you want to do in life, not me. Maybe you’ll take up a trade, or spend your days in the library. Hell, you could get a one-way ticket to the other side of the world if you want. Carve out a life of fame and riches there, and the only time I’d see you is when you appear on the news.”
He snorts. “You really believe I could do any of that, do you?”
“Ugh. I knew it was too soon to tell you.” I groan and mash my hand into my face.

omg… for mathuin: agape 3, ludus 4, philautia 5, pragma 2? 👀 ♥️
To what extent does your OC believe in the value (or even existence) of true altruism? Do they see an unselfish concern for the welfare of others as being naïve or foolish? Or as a moral quality to which people should aspire?
Mathuin believes in true altruism, but feels that their own empathic powers inhibit their ability to be altruistic towards others; after all, they're hardwired to people-please, as any disappointment or hurt echoes right back to them. So while they are very capable of showing great compassion and comfort to others, they struggle to see it as genuine. They harbor some shame over this. But they believe everyone should try to at least be kind.
Who was your OC's first crush? How do they feel about it now?
TAMLEN 🥺 They were childhood sweethearts. They wish they had known him longer.
Has your OC always had the same opinion of themselves or has this changed over time? Have they learned to love themselves - perhaps with the help of others - as their journey progressed? Or have the consequences of their actions only served to erode their sense of self-worth?
They definitely feel themself to be kind of damaged, and I'm not sure that ever fully goes away. Their trauma happened so early, it molded them through much of their development. One thing that really helped them feel more secure is their friendship with Zevran--who passes on the memories of the phylactery spirit to them. That trust and strength really helped them, from that point onward.
What is the biggest challenge that your OC has had to overcome in a long-term relationship or friendship? What helped them get through this?
Mathuin winds up in a place where they are tired of trying to connect with people. They feel every connection so deeply, it hurts too much to see things change and to see people leave. They wind up becoming very self-reliant, yet skittish, with relationships. But settling in Var'myathan brings a new way of life, and many positive changes for them. <3

Oct 02 - Favorite Origins romance
It is a tossup between Zevran and Alistair to be honest. Zevran is so complex and I find his romance so rewarding (especially male x male romance) and Alistair is just such a sweetheart and he makes me laugh, plus he's handsome well they both are. And I also love becoming the Queen of Ferelden with Alistair, it depends on my mood.
