Osprey, Diddy's father
Osprey belongs to @lady-zephyrine :)
Osprey was the father of Diddy. A man with a love for flying and flying-types, he has often been described by those who knew him best as being surprisingly well-grounded in reality for someone who often had his head in the clouds. He worked for the Galar Taxi Company as a cabbie, but worked on the side as a bird-keeper as well. Osprey quite enjoyed both jobs, but especially the former as it allowed him to be in the sky with the birds while also making a living to help support his family.
He was making his way back from a drop-off in the Crown Tundra one rainy afternoon when he suddenly disappeared. The last trace of his phone was found in the Slumbering Weald, but despite countless searches, only his pokemon were ever found. Currently, they are being taken care of by his parents, and were reported by the neighbors as often crying out for their trainer in the months after his disappearance.
Osprey was a Galar native, having lived with his wife and son in Hulbury. Although searches for him have long since ended and life has gone on in the past ten years he is fondly remembered by the ones who knew him best.
His team consisted of:
Guile (Braviary, male, Adamant nature)
Arturia (Corviknight, female, Brave nature)
Zephyr (Aerodactyl, female, Impish nature)
Chocobo (Galarian Zapdos, Docile nature)
Kazooie (Cramorant, female, Naughty nature)
Dusk (Crobat, male, Bold nature)
Some additional fun facts:
-Yes. That pokeball in his alternate artwork is intentional. Tee hee. :)
-While he may not appear much in the main story, he does still have birdkeepers to thank as part of his trainer inspirations. The idea of him also being a taxi cabbie came later on, although his pre-existing outfit being a close match was a happy coincidence.
-To this day, no one is quite certain how he managed to catch Zapdos of all pokemon, but he treated them with as much love and care as he did the rest of his team.
-The wing Osprey is holding in his original artwork is supposed to be one of the feather held items. I think it's either specifically meant to be either the Swift Feather or Pretty Feather, I don't quite remember which.
-Osprey had a habit of picking up Wishing Stars when he came across them.
#other's ocs#pokemon trainer au#dkc pokemon trainer au#lady-zephyrine#donkey kong country#mun arts#gijinka#fun fact for you tag readers: his fate is giving the ballad of jane doe vibes#also the zapdos thing started out as a joke but then it got unfunny once the previous tag came into effect#i straight up do not know how to tag him correctly on this whoops

Awesome Moment
Holy crap! This is awesome!
So, one of my favorite artists on the Internet is JoeAdok, awesome Sonic artist and mastermind behind the Mobius Megamix; where he takes all of Sega's different properties and adaptations and puts them all in one world, often reimagining certain characters as Mobians/Sonic animals.
Well, he was holding a raffle to draw five random OCs; so, I entered Zephyr for kicks. And I just found out he was chosen! I am so happy!
Seriously, Zephyr looks amazing in Joe's art style. Honestly, if he did commissions, I would have him do a huge pic of him and the rest of his crew, all five of them! But alas, he does not. Ah well, c'est la vie.

Attempting to answer as much of the Warframe Ask Game as I can:
Always hard to pick favorites, but the Zenith, Cyanex, and Endura are three good ones.
While most of my favorite frames are more for ranged combat I will always love getting up close and personal.
Void or Electric.
Loki, which almost certainly shows my warframe age.
Too many to pick from
Nef Anyo. Alad's a jerk too but he's a jerk I can stab.
Might just be the Tenno's stuff, at least weapon-wise. Either them or the Entrati, or Solaris United. Again, picking favorites is hard.
One good contender is probably from the story in the spoiler room on Deimos, in which Albrecht Entrati encounters the Man in the Wall and barely escapes. Imagine being somebody who didn't but into Albrecht's theories and then seeing his lab filled with giant severed fingers from a being that nobody thought existed.
Dual Oculus.
Maybe Fae Path?
Verv. I like the energy bracelets but the rest is way too busy and tends to mess with what I'm trying to do with my fashionframes.
Cy.
I may have lowered it slightly but I still listen to his many quips.
Might be call of the Tempestarii, which I should replay at some point to find the shanty somachords.
Presently: Red Veil, Steel Meridian, Perrin Sequence. Working on trading Perrin for Suda, the Arbiters will probably become allies too but I'll be blunt when I say that I don't have the highest opinion of them.
Barnam's Pride, after a part of the filk song Dawson's Christian.
Kubrows, by a hair. Although I really just tend to field sentinels.
We All Lift. Second place goes to This is What You Are.
Umbra stabbing Ballas in the gut. The adoption papers have been signed.
Corpus. Too many ways to shut out powers, knock frames down, and I still have some trouble hitting ospreys from time to time.
It's been way too long for me to remember. Maybe Ember Prime?
I try to do that, but I don't always remember to switch between my two main color schemes for everything I have.
Vauban or Protea. They seem like the ones most likely to remember stuff and think of good things to get.
Neutral, slightly leaning towards sun.
Dunno!
Fortuna
Cavaraveric, Log-Rec Toris, & Legolaie. Used to have a Red Veil engineer named Shinni who I kept making Shinji jokes about.
Valkyr Prime
I still stand by the idea that all the frames have kept some amount of consciousness, or at least develop new ones over time.
Public. Hell can be other people but I'm not here to go with god. That and randomly coming across moments of helping others is nice.
Almost all of my frames use some amount of the Valentine palette. Although I feel I should take a closer look at Cherub in the future.
Either Ticker's or one of the Tusk floofs
As neat as the Business is I may have to give it to Son.
I could go with something like Cy's "Aim for the head, and may the saints look away," but I think I'll instead for something that's been stuck in my head thanks to my days of grinding for Harrow: "What makes you abhor violence, Kavor? Is it genetic? Can we exploit it? We require answers. Answers demand a sacrifice. Do not interfere, Tenno."
I haven't come up with a name yet. Guess she's just Rhynerd like me for now.
Zephyr.

Rescue
Rating: PG-13 Category: Elementals Summary: “Father’s wrath,” Hawk whispers. “What happened here?”
“Fuck,” snarls Flash as he storms into Jen's room. “Grace. You in here?”
Grace jumps from her half-doze, one hand going to her sword hilt, pulse hammering in alarm. “What is it?”
“I need your permission.” His hand flutters at his side, tapping his thigh. Grace glimpses red in the dark irises shaded by Flash's cowl. “To authorize a mission.”
Images flicker into Grace's mind, the viewpoints of her teammates. They've all been approached by members of Feline Team – Fire to Fire, Water to Water, Wind to Wind, and Earth to Earth. And all of them are displaying similar signs of nervousness.
Leaden dread adds force to Grace's pounding heart.
“Permission?” she repeats, struggling to stay calm. “Panther, you're the Second. You don't need my permission. You outrank-”
“Oh, for fuck's sake,” Flash snaps, then lowers his voice, glowering. “Just listen-”
“It's a search and rescue,” says Zephyr to Vani, his words echoing in Grace's hearing. “They're under”
“your jurisdiction,” says Flash. “Courage,”
“Patience,” says Lake to Leah. “Metallic is alive.”
Silence settles thick over the ringing in Grace's ears. Metallic Team. Her team's former apprentices. The four young warriors haven't been seen in over a month, not since that mission to track and burn a Colorado nest of wights. Even optimistic Elizabeth had started to assume they'd died.
But, and the thought is flavored with Leah's indecision, there haven't been any bodies found. No proof of Metallic's murder.
Flash – and his team – are speaking again, so deep in their own connection that they trade words and talk in one voice. Grace listens numbly. She wishes she could tune out Vani's hope, Leah's anxiety, Elizabeth's determination.
Metallic has been captured, Feline Team is saying. They are being held by the Winters. The base is quite near to where Metallic burned out those wights.
(Guilt clouds Grace's thoughts. Why did she override her teammates' objections, why did she push to give Metallic that mission? Everyone else had known they weren't ready. Elizabeth reaches out, taking the guilt upon herself – they all should have known.)
“Where did you-” Leah begins, looking at Lake. But she trails off, and Elizabeth finishes the sentence for Jag. “-learn this?”
“Rozzo informant,” Zephyr says to Vani. “It was a bribe. They want us to ignore that, ah,”
“tussle,” supplies Lake.
Zephyr flicks his hand. “-that they had with Yuugao,”
“which caused the latest tornado,”
“in Oklahoma,” Flash finishes.
Grace's head aches. Teams showing off their connection are the worst.
But Metallic. Metallic is alive. Leah's voice whispers that running chant in the back of Grace's mind, in the back of all of their minds.
“Where are they?” Grace asks.
“Utah,” says Flash.
Zephyr spins over to a detailed map of the continental United States on the wall of the Wind planning room and considers it. Then he pins a certain location. “Here.”
“It's a closed ski resort,” says Lake.
It's very near to the site of the old church, Vani realizes after a moment of looking. She's furious. Why had they sent Metallic there? The team connection wavers, frays, and Grace joins her in anger until their minds steady back together. Her nails bite into her palms.
There were other teams. Metallic could have been spared this fate.
If the Holders were awake, they would know what to do.
Once again it's Elizabeth who pulls the team from grief. She examines the chalkboard on her wall that holds the names of the Daytime teams available to take assignments.
“We'll dispatch someone in the morning,” says Grace. Her voice shakes. “Dimension, or Sin-”
But Jag and Zephyr are shaking their heads, and Lake makes a noise of dissent, and Flash speaks. “No. It has to be tonight, because,”
“we don't know what they're doing,” bursts out Zephyr. “And if they know we know,”
“they'll know we're coming for Metallic, and they'll,”
“probably kill them.” Jag crosses his arms. “That's why,”
“we need to dispatch Raptor Team. Now.”
Raptor Team? Leah stares at Lake, who spoke last. “But Raptor is just as young as Metallic.”
“We,” says Flash, “did not shelter our apprentices,” says Jag.
Grace winces. Had they done Metallic a disservice by not letting them fight earlier?
Maybe they'd been wrong, ventures Leah. Grace can feel her pulse speeding up to match her anxious teammate's. Raptor was fighting. Maybe Metallic could have been useful, if they'd been allowed to be.
But Raptor was a Nighttime team. They mostly dealt in spies and skirmishes. Elizabeth's logic cut through the anxiety, calm and collected. Metallic was Daytime, like Virtue themselves, and they would have been on the front lines.
If they weren't ready now, they certainly wouldn't have been before.
“Do you trust Raptor enough for this?” whispers Vani.
Zephyr makes an impatient movement with his hands.
“Yes,” Flash snaps. “We wouldn't suggest it otherwise.”
Elizabeth tightens her ponytail. They're all looking to Grace, offering opinions, waiting for her decision. She closes her eyes and tries to focus on her own thoughts.
Metallic is captured.
Metallic must be rescued.
Feline Team seems confident that it can happen tonight.
What kind of a mentor, what kind of a Champion is Grace if she lets them suffer one moment longer than necessary?
There's no other option when she thinks of it that way. Elizabeth supports her; Vani and Leah fall into line. The disparity of thought and Grace's headache subside.
“Alright,” she says without opening her eyes. “We give you permission. Bring back Metallic Team safely.”
The door opens, then closes. In her mind's eye Grace sees the other members of Feline Team leave her teammates alone. Grace stumbles over to the chair at Jen's bedside and sinks down again, exhausted, keyed up, nauseous, famished.
Soon, whispers Vani, a single word and multiple sentiments.
Soon, Elizabeth echoes.
“Maybe,” says Leah aloud to a silent room.
“Soon,” says Grace, louder, to her Holder's corpselike figure.
None of them will be sleeping tonight.
There's no future, thinks Alyss, in rushing.
Tori dryly points out that she'd thought it in Flash's sardonic voice. Raina laughs. Alyss redirects them both back to their mission.
Nothing's happening, Tori protests. Her great wings scoop at the air as she circles lazily over the Winter base, an unassuming little lodge perched among ski slopes. Everything's quiet. We're good to go in.
We are not walking in the front door. Audrey is ridiculously firm about this. There's at least fifteen traps set up, and I feel footsteps inside. Hold your horses.
Raina and Alyss exchange nervous thoughts. Raina patrols around the edge of the base, marking out paces and finding wards in the darkness. Alyss stands over Audrey, who is kneeling in the powdery snow with her hands pressed to the hard earth underneath, focused on sensing and changing her element.
A cloud passes over the moon. Alyss shivers. Her cloak doesn't do this weather justice.
“Um,” murmurs Audrey. Her connection wavers. Something else is stealing her concentration. “There's something- underneath-?”
“Underneath?” repeats Alyss in a whisper. She relays the words to Raina and Tori. “Underneath where?”
Audrey doesn't answer immediately. Then she sits back on her heels, tugs her gloves off, and presses her bare hands to the earth instead, shivering.
Wards. Osprey-?
On it, Raina responds after a moment of searching Audrey's mind. Alyss half-closes one eye to watch as Raina finds a certain ward marking and carefully, ever so carefully, alters it by degrees until Audrey can get through.
It's a bit of a risky move. Alyss frowns. If a Winter Elemental notices that alteration, they'll be found out immediately. But information is a good thing, so it's probably worth it.
One heartbeat of silence. Two. Three. Tori turns for another circle over the lodge, keeping a close watch on Raina as Alyss watches Audrey.
Four. Five. Six. Something rustles; Alyss whirls around, her hands going to her knives, before the distinctive thud of Tori's hand-mounted crossbow slams over her head. A rabbit leaves a bloody skid trail across the powdery snow.
“Ew,” Alyss grumbles. Its dead eyes stare at her.
Sorry.
Focus, you idiots, hisses Raina. Audrey is too wrapped up in her magic to respond.
An owl hoots somewhere.
Audrey gasps and jerks up, shaking snow from her hands, trembling. Alyss drops to one knee beside her.
“What is it?”
Audrey's eyes fade from green to brown, focus on Alyss, and she struggles to form words. Images and sensations flow into Alyss through the team connection.
A familiar power. Voices she hasn't heard in months. A scream she has never wanted to hear.
“Metallic,” Audrey breathes. “They're-”
Alive, says Tori.
“Here,” says Alyss.
Shit, says Raina. She dives to the side, rolling through the powder just as a silver blade pierces the ground where she was. Her spear forms in her hand.
The Winter Elemental is a flash of pale fury in the night. Frost entraps Raina's hand as she tries to get up; she slams it with the butt of her spear, spins the spear, blocks his blade with her shaft as she struggles to her feet.
Here!
It's Tori. Raina ducks and tilts her spear. The Winter Elemental overreaches, draws back, spins once more to face Raina, just before Tori drops from the sky and kicks him to the ground.
A gust of wind blows her to a softer landing than the Winter had. Raina lunges forward, burying the point of her spear in the Winter's throat.
Alyss watches through Raina's eyes as he goes into his dying convulsions.
Audrey stands up, pulling her gloves back on. There goes secrecy, she grumbles.
Fuck secrecy, says Alyss, Metallic is here. She looks around the dark resort, formulating a quick plan. Are those footsteps? They'd better not be. She reaches for her knives just in case, scanning the night as she directs her teammates.
There isn't time to argue. They all know that. Raina begins breaking wards, shattering the Winter Elementals' protections with carefully careless swipes of power and spear. Tori kicks into the sky, summoning a wind that bites at Alyss' face and threatens to sweep her hood off, sealing the door of the lodge shut. Audrey drops to her knees and clears a section in the snow, then begins murmuring under her breath. And Alyss puts her head down against the wind and sprints.
The lodge didn't seem so far away when Alyss was looking at it through Tori's birds-eye view. Now twenty meters seems like twenty kilometers. The wind kicks up snow, driving, howling, as Alyss forges through the cold as quickly as she can. Tori can't really shield Alyss without draining more of her power than she needs to use here.
Finally Alyss can see the lodge. It's hardwood, she thinks, squinting – definitely not concrete or cinderblock, which is absolutely fine with her.
Putting the wind to her back, she circles around until she's in the lee of the lodge. Fire scorches her skin. The feeling of Winter Elementals is close – like the freezing wind on her face, cutting open her chest, striking deep into her heart.
She reaches out and calls fire to her fingers.
Warmth courses through her veins, shutting out the pain in Alyss' chest. She stares hard at the lodge and imagines it in flames.
She huffs a sharp exhale.
Pure crimson power leaps from her fingers to the wood.
A Winter Elemental shrieks from inside. Alyss steps back and raises her hands, concentrating on the tiny flame, feeding it power so it will catch and burn brighter. Edged with black, it begins to spread.
The wind redoubles, blocking off exits, forcing Alyss to drain more of her power. A stitch pierces her side. The reserves of her strength are depleting quickly – but it doesn't matter, not now, because the flames found pine sap and in a satisfying whoosh they catch light and burn alone.
Alyss steps back.
Impulse through the connection. Here. Now. Audrey ducks into the tunnel she's made, scrambling down into the earth. Tori folds her wings and dives for it. Raina yanks herself through the connection to Alyss' side, her cowl blown back from her face, her cheeks chapped.
“C'mon,” she yells.
They sprint together. The Winter Elementals scream from inside the burning lodge. Alyss tries her best not to hear.
The tunnel, where is the tunnel. Here. Raina nearly trips into it. Alyss lunges, seizes her upper arm, helps her teammate descend before jumping in herself.
Audrey steadies them both. Tori's wings are gone; dissolved back into air, too large for this cramped little crawlspace. With a gesture of Audrey's hand, the tunnel seals.
“That won't last long,” she gasps aloud.
Alyss flicks fire to her fingers. Raina uses the light to straighten her cloak and pull up her hood again. Tori looks paler than usual.
“Let's go,” Alyss whispers.
Audrey leads the way. Tori reloads her crossbow with another bolt, relying on Raina's touch to guide her. And Alyss brings up the rear. This isn't one of Audrey's better tunnels – it's rough, unfinished, there is dirt falling everywhere and certain places where they have to squeeze through narrow passageways in rock. But it's better than trying to fight their way through an entire base of Winter Elementals.
Minutes pass in silence.
Alyss feels it when the fire dies aboveground. It's like an absence of warmth in her core, a deep exhaustion reaching to her bones. She stumbles. Raina reaches back to steady her.
Audrey pauses.
“Just a little further,” she whispers.
“Good,” hisses Tori, claustrophobic and antsy. Alyss grits her teeth and draws on Audrey's strength to ease the exhaustion.
“Go.” She pushes Audrey lightly.
A few more steps, and the tunnel widens into a stone-cut hallway. Alyss stumbles out after her teammates. Tori turns one way; Raina steps out and turns the other; aiming crossbow bolt and spear point at opposite ends of the hall, watching, waiting.
Audrey unsheathes a dagger. Alyss fits the hilts of her knives into her hands.
Footsteps pound down stairs, echoing in the stone corridor. Tori closes one eye.
“Osprey. Your side,” she says after a moment.
Raina's grip tightens on her spear. Shouts of panic, of rage, echo from Alyss' right. She and Audrey turn together to flank Raina.
The first Winter Elemental appears – a woman with fluffy white hair and a wicked-looking crystal battleaxe.
Audrey draws one foot back and throws her dagger.
The Winter deflects it easily. It spins away and sinks into the stone wall. The ground trembles. Alyss can feel it as Audrey draws power from them all, from the team connection.
She gasps with effort. Cracks web out from her dagger. The Winter is almost upon them, and Raina steps out once more, leveling her spear. More Winter Elementals are rounding the corner.
“Owl!” Tori hisses.
Audrey convulses and drops to one knee, slamming the heel of her palm into the ground. The stone ceiling caves in with a shattering, dusty sound, rock crashing and Winter Elementals screaming and bones breaking with awful crunch sounds.
The charging Winter falters. Alyss hesitates only a moment before she leaps forward with her knives drawn.
The Winter crumples in her own blood.
Tori lowers her crossbow hand and kneels by Audrey. The Earth is panting and pale. Sweat beads on her forehead.
“Come on,” she gasps. “Gotta-”
“Hold up,” Tori murmurs, pressing her hand to Audrey's forehead. Alyss waits. The connection wavers, then stabilizes as Tori gives up some of her power to keep Audrey going.
“New ability?” Raina asks as Tori helps Audrey up.
“Wanna sleep for a week,” Audrey replies, grimacing. “C'mon. Metallic should be close.”
They walk. Part of Alyss wants to run, but she forces herself to keep to a steady, though brisk pace. She can't leave Audrey behind. Her teammates are too important to take chances.
Feline Team didn't tell them who they'd be rescuing. Alyss isn't sure where the thought starts, but within moments, everyone is focused on it. Why? Does Feline not trust them to keep their cool?
“Maybe they're trying to lead Astral-style,” Tori says aloud. Her thoughts clarify the statement, showing incidents in which the Holders gave different information to different teams.
“Astral is in a freakin' coma,” Audrey mumbles. “If Feline goes and lands themselves in one, I'm gonna kill Ocelot – you guys take your mentors.”
Alyss laughs.
Raina covers a jaw-cracking yawn with her hand.
An earsplitting scream drives all thoughts of yawning from Alyss' mind.
Urgency gives them all new life, panic blazing through the connection and Alyss' veins. She breaks into a dead sprint. Her teammates' steps pound in unison with hers.
There is a door at the end of the hallway. Flimsy wood. Five meters. Four. Three. Tori flings out her hand; a blast of wind slams it open, an armored Winter Elemental turns, Tori's crossbow discharges with a wicked thrum-hiss. The Winter staggers backward.
Tori breaks stride to reload. Alyss pulls ahead, leaping over the dead Winter's body, drawing her knives as she enters the unknown room.
The door leads into a small raised area. The floor drops off to tile about half a meter ahead.. The room's scent hits Alyss a moment after she registers this; dark, despair, damp, blood.
Raina is beside her, spear gleaming. Audrey fans her position out so Tori can enter.
A girl hangs in manacles on the wall. Her golden hair is matted with blood, her clothes tattered. Webs of horrible gleaming scars glint dully on her body, on her face.
Two Winter Elementals stand before her. One is young; holding a (familiar?) spear too big for her; the other snarls as she sees Raptor Team, arrows of ice forming in the air around him.
“Eliana!” he snaps. “Do it!”
The arrows fly. Alyss throws up her hand. A wall of fire flares from nothing, a stitch curving beneath Alyss' ribs. The icy arrows melt and fail. Black spots dance in Alyss' vision. She staggers, feeling her power desert her and curl back into the center of her chest, stretched far too thin for the moment.
Raina has to reach out to steady her.
A man screams, gurgling, choking. Alyss catches a flash of horror and color from Audrey's sight. The other Winter's spear is buried in the first one's body, his blood gushing over her hands and splattering over her face and chest.
She releases the spear and stumbles back. The male Winter collapses to the ground. His blood drips from her fingers.
Alyss straightens up as Tori switches her aim, her bolt pointing for the bloody Winter's chest. The air shimmers and coalesces.
“Stop it,” Bellamy's disembodied voice chokes out. “Just stop.”
She takes form in the air, then drops to the ground, stumbling, weak, long hair tangled and in her face. Shaking hands push it back as she positions herself in front of the murderer.
The girl in the chains takes a rattling breath. “Eliana...”
“I'm sorry,” the silver-haired one whispers. She wavers forward, staring at her bloodsoaked hands, then trips and falls to her knees in front of the chained Clare. “I failed you.”
Eliana? Surely Alyss can't have heard that right. Eliana is loud, sarcastic, caustic, dark-haired and cheerful. This Winter girl is too thin and too pale to be Eliana.
But that is Eliana's spear, Audrey points out, numb with shock. It is. In the dead Winter. Eliana's silver spear. The silver spear of Silver of Metallic Team.
Bellamy grits her teeth, tears collecting at her lashes as she stares Tori down. Raina silently draws Alyss' attention to a cell in the back before she picks her way down the stairs, across the bloody floor, and over to an imprisoned Aly, breaking the wards with a word and the lock with the heel of her hand.
She has to support Aly across the dungeon floor.
Alyss descends as well, reaching for Clare's chains. They come apart with a touch of fire. Clare falls limply down into Alyss' arms, too light for her muscle mass and height, eyes fluttering shut. Her wrists are rubbed raw. The frost burns across half of her entire body are worse than Alyss thought.
A sob tears itself from Bellamy's throat. She collapses onto the hard, bloody floor, hiding her face as tears rack her frame.
Tori lowers her crossbow in slow horror.
“Father's wrath,” Alyss whispers, voicing the sentiment of her entire team. “What happened here?”

“To Belong” Writing Contest Entry Written by: Beth A.
Evening had settled over the city, bathing slated rooftops in a warm, honeyed glow. A cool breeze with the scent of rain on its breath trickled through the gutters like a sigh. The purple swell of rainclouds had all but dissipated, leaving spatters of dark, bruise-like hues in the sky. Squirming in the residue, Mennah perched on the sill of a three storey balcony, squinting into the light through the amber tint of her goggles, absorbing each brush stroke of colour in the sky shimmering in the petrol puddles below.
The small tuft of her tail flicked back and forth in a ‘come-hither’ motion as she balanced on the ledge by the tips of her toes, fingers curling into the strap of an oversized satchel slung over her shoulder like a rucksack. The wind, to prove it still had some breath left in its body, sought a hold on the marmoset’s tiny form, threading wispy fingers through her mane in a vain attempt to buffet her from her perch.
Even with the warmth of seeping, amber rays tracing through her fur, the cool, lingering touch of the rain made her shiver. Mennah’s pelt fluffed as the zephyr whisked by. Stricken with the urge to just do, she stretched her hand out, spreading it to catch the wind only to feel it slip through her fingers. The cool touch was substantially better than that stifling café. Her fingers twitched and curled. A purse on her lips, she adjusted the strap of her satchel and peered down, eying the drop. The row of terraces cast grey shadows to the sodden street below. Across the road, she could see the lights of ‘The Tablespoon’ flicker off. Fired. Again. She chittered despondently, steering herself over to the railings and perching on the edge. Coiling low, she sprung forward taking off like a bolt from a crossbow, vaulting across impromptu walkways and skittering along slated tiles. The world blurs by her, messy and incomprehensible.
Streetlights, wet pavements, flashes of passing cars. She blears through it all. Up here, she couldn’t be touched by the scolding tongues of scathing remarks and pompous consumers her ex-establishment had to offer. Up here, she was flying. The warmth in her arms and legs spread to the tips of her fingers, making them tingle every time she rebounded off something. Her abdomen twisted pleasantly, warming at the sweet way it stretched and coiled under the strain. However, the slow burn had grown into a persistent ache niggling on the edge of her senses. With a leap that carried her from a telephone pole to a parapet, the ache screamed. Water sloshed up her legs as she skidded to a halt. The avenues had transformed into wrapper strewn, gurgling alleys and the tiled roofs into flat, concrete balustrades. Gritting her teeth, Mennah reclined on her haunches, her tiny heart like thunder in her ears.
With a chittering groan, she pulled the satchel’s strap from around her neck and dropped it on the ground beside her. A low trill of pain filtered between the fissures of her teeth as her arm throbbed. Nimble fingers brushed through the dusty gold of her course fur, soothing the wrought muscle beneath. She needed a break. Pealing her goggles from her face with her good arm and setting them beside her, she felt her body warm. A faint trickle began to buzz through her flesh like the conjuring of a lightning bolt. Just as her skin started to sear, white engulfed her vision. With a pulse of light her limbs elongated, gold fur receded into bronzed flesh, and Mennah stepped out of her sprightly marmoset skin and into her willowy human one. She stood, stretching the soreness out of her biceps, arching her back to pull at the taut knots between her shoulders. Her hair brushed against her bare shoulders, swathes of bottle-green bleeding into black from the bottom up. Her toes curled as they squished together in the grime and dirt.
The swell of pollution and grime engorged itself on the previous trickle of rain, bloating, distending and bursting from the rooftops to trickle and pool in sludge-like puddles in the streets below. Mennah felt her nose wrinkle. With no bus pass or the money for a taxi and the only options being winding through alleys and risking her ass leaping through the voids between buildings, she was much happier taking the longer route home than trudging through the muck, thank you very much. The aftertaste of ozone in the air curled her tongue to her palate. She hated being outside after a wet spell. Scintillating, neon-blue lights pulsed above shiny, wet cobbled streets, mingling with the yellow vapour bulbs of the streetlamps. Fiddling with the bottle green ends of her hair, twisting and threading it around her fingers, Mennah watched as the evening sun swelled and casted a copper-pink glow, bathing the land in a swash of light and colour. She was silent, gaze locked on the brushstrokes of embers sweeping over the parapets and concrete rooftops.
She stayed that way as the evening quickly began to bleed a dusky blue. Sequestered under the titillating glint of the stars above, Mennah huffed, shuffling through her satchel and shucking out her hoodie to retain some remnants of warmth. There was something ravenous about the shift of summer to autumn. Despite the warm colours and the drizzled, honeyed evenings, emptiness ran through the howling winds. She used to love the autumn, but nowadays it left a bitter edge on raw nerves. The image of that bloated, pus-pile of a boss floated in her mind. Her nails began to leave crescent welts in the flesh of her palms. Fired, rejected, swatted away like a bluebottle fly. Maybe she did bite a little too hard into that old toad, but nobody had the right to insinuate her life or her intelligence because of her damn hair. Besides, her nose did look like an overripe bell pepper. And like that, she was thrown out; uniform left crumpled in the gutter ‘round the back. Her stomach gnawed on itself, tiny pinpricks beginning to sting at the corners of her eyes, and quite suddenly, she began to grow angry.
What the hell was she doing? She was stuck in a financial rut with nothing but a couple hundred pounds and a shitty foldup couch to her name, and she was sitting here slouching on someone else’s parapet wallowing. She fought the tears back, swiping them away with the back of her hand. With grim resolution she stood, squaring her shoulders from the weighted slouch they pulled themselves into. She was tired of crying, tired of feeling inadequate and alone, of being afraid. By all accounts, she should be fearless; she had persevered against the odds and faced the aspect of destitution many times with icy calm poise. Swallowing around the lump that’d crawled up her throat, Mennah found herself threading her fingers through her hair. Roots to ends. Black to green. The familiar motions soothed her frazzled nerves. There will be other jobs, she told herself, quelling the snake-like whispers in her head. You have enough for next week’s rent and more than enough time to find another job. Just breathe. Sucking up a sharp breath, Mennah tilted her head back, wincing as the bones grated and popped at the base of her skull.
She had no idea how long she sat there musing, but by the time she surfaced from the broiling torrent that was her mind, night had fully transcended and the moon hung like a lonely bone in the sky, stars scintillating like diamond shards trapped in bubbling tar. Holding it until her lungs began to cinder and her skin itched, she released the breath with a loud ‘pbbbbbbblt’, stepping back into the familiar itch that was her golden marmoset. Her hoodie slumped around her shoulders, swallowing her whole. Hopping through the neck, she balled it up, shunting the thing back into her satchel and hooked the strap around her shoulder once more. The soft cotton felt nice on her calloused fingers, and as she thumbed the tender blisters, she grimaced at the thought of swinging the rest of the way home. Come on you big baby, a familiar tenor echoed snidely in her head, it’s not that far. Pulling at the strap with a huff, she prepared herself to spring from the parapet when a great gust of wind rifled through the small tuft of green fur at the nape of her head.
She squeaked, head swivelling up to catch a glimpse of whatever oversized pigeon decided to fly in her space. All she managed to catch was a spray of white. She blinked a slow languid motion. An osprey. Not an unusual sight, but not a sight she was used to. Head tilted, Mennah caught herself gawking; the white flight feathers and the black speckles on the underside of their wings reminded her of the eyes of silver birches. Sharp black talons tucked by their tail feathers, curled and relaxed almost harmlessly. The air rumbled with the power of a blustering sea-tempest from a mere beat of their wings. Wings tilted down, and with it went the bird, twisting mid-air until its feet touched the adjoining parapet. The light undersides were tucked away, revealing cold brown flight feathers the colour of petrified wood. From the angle of their head, the osprey had to have known that she was there, but was simply content to fluff up and began preening those gossamer wings.
She was entranced, watching that powerful, slate grey beak glide through the primers and carefully work its way across to the secondary remiges. Picking at the last tufts, they suddenly paused, making a show of noticing her. Tilting their head and regarding the little marmoset with a raptor-like gaze. Drizzled yellow eyes met her pebble black ones and all at once, Mennah was held captive. There was something foreboding about those eyes. Enticing and dangerous; like honey traps rippling with the twitching limbs of hornets submerged. The backs of her ears began to tingle. Something deep in her reptilian brain told her to run, yet her limbs felt warm and heavy. For as tense as the air was, the silence was calming. Tranquil. Blinking out of her stupor, Mennah realised that the osprey was still watching her. They seemed to be waiting. Brow pursing, Mennah settled onto her haunches, regarding the raptor to see if they would reciprocate the gesture.
The osprey however, made no such move, their head swivelling to glare over the parapet. Their chest feathers puffed out like the hackles of a cat, and Mennah watched in awe as their wings splayed the span of her arms from fingertip to fingertip. She briefly wondered what those dark feathers would feel like. The next moment, with a powerful swoop of those wings, they were gone, diving over the edge and disappearing from sight. Trapped in a daze, she scooted over to the other parapet, curiosity pulling at her like marionette strings. Reaching the edge, she peered over. The prickle behind her ears spread to the back of her head. In the corner of a brown alley, an eclectic group of humans and animals had gathered in a semi-circle around a scruffy looking cat with a mangled ear and bristled fur. They had it surrounded. She felt her gut lurch. Trappers. Monsters that shucked the pelts off other animals and sold them on the black-market. Oh no … nononono she shouldn’t be here. She needed to leave. A rustle of movement caught her eye.
The osprey glared on from a podium, perched above the scene like a dour gargoyle. The little menagerie seemed to be talking to each other, their hushed words lost to her from the vantage point, but from the sounds of their oily timbres, it was anything but good. She wanted to look away, leave and pretend she didn’t see the way they pushed in around the poor person snared in their net, but she couldn’t. The situation was beginning to leave a nasty taste in her mouth. Her whole head was buzzing now, from the tip of her nose to the jut of her chin, her heart like thunder in her throat. Without warning, one of the men took a purposeful step forward, a walking skyscraper bound in coils of muscle, boxing the creature in. The cat tried to dart between his legs, but was a fraction too slow. His tail made a sickening crunch beneath the heel of the man’s boot. The yowl was curdling, a hollow cry of pain. Mennah’s gut lurched. A wild, livid glare flitted through her pebble black eyes. Her throat clenched, swallowing the black shriek crawling up her windpipe like a prowling panther.
This went beyond words. All that passed through her mind was rage. Her teeth bared, focus funnelled onto the dark pillar of a man like he was the focal point of a hurricane. Never in her entire life had she felt such anger coursing through her veins. Somewhere deep inside, she realised later, it fuelled her … and that terrified her. She didn’t think, only reacted. She threw herself off the ledge, honing in on the shaggy mane of chestnut hair. She landed like a brick on water but she quickly scrabbled for purchase. She grabbed at anything she could hold onto, hair, clothes, skin, and pulled as hard as she could, nails biting. She could hear screaming, shouts of surprise at the sudden appearance of a flying ochre furball, but she was deaf to them, working as much damage as she could before bolting the hell out of there. In her peripheral she caught a glance of a matted grey slinking around the corner. Her grip slipped. Strong hands ensnared her, fingers sinking into her ribs before being wrenched from the man’s scalp and flung away like a like a ragdoll. For a brief, weightless moment, Mennah panicked, the image of her small body breaking under the impact of such a throw flitting through her mind like a zoetrope.
Her skin blistered and the next moment her feet hit the ground, her momentum tangling them around each other. Her bare back smacked against the wall and her lungs stuttered, body crumpling to the ground. The slick of grime coated her arms and knees and smeared all down her front. The edges of her vision blurred and darkened, and slowly enclosed around her sight. Her mind felt slow, crammed with cotton. Figures fluttered by as her world swam in and out of focus. A flare of white with black speckles. Osprey wings. Her mind returned to the sensation of claws at her shoulders. And teeth at her nape. Terror filled her lungs like a heady gas and she lashed out, knuckles scraping against a hard jawline. The weight fell off her back with a yelp, but hands quickly replaced them, fisting in her hair, knotting the dark tendrils and gripping her face tightly. As calloused fingers dug into the soft swell of her cheeks, Mennah felt her lips peel back, unsheathing slick teeth, and she bit down hard. The giant screamed, hand slipping from her hair to wrench the other from her mouth, but she followed, a crazed light glinting in her eyes.
Her teeth were locked and set. She wasn’t letting go without taking a chunk of him with her. A spill of copper tang spattered over her tongue. In response, something cracked across her cheek, sparking a flash of white across her vision. She drew back, but the hands followed, grabbing her shoulders like bike handles, thumbs digging into the meat around her clavicles, and threw her body onto the ground. She hit the dirt heavily, a gust of air rushing from her lungs. Her head cracked against the cement, teeth rattling as black spots popped behind her eyes for a brief second. Equilibrium whirling, she attempted to sit up, too stunned to notice the figure looming over her until his thick hand slithered around her neck and forced her back down. Head bouncing on the floor, her airways tightened, constricted, she fought to remove the grip on her throat. But it wouldn’t budge.
She howled and writhed, putting up as much of a fight as she could, but she was tired. The familiar flair in her arm was beginning to rile up and spread to her shoulder. Chest heaving, she fell limp. The man snickered, smirk pulling at his mouth and stretching a silvery scar etched under his bottom lip. “That all you got?” Mennah’s head ached and throbbed, making it hard to pull up much of a coherent thought, but she sucked on her tongue, pulling up as much moisture as she could and spat directly at the bastard’s face. “Go to hell,” she hissed as he reared back with a guttural growl. Hands tightened, crushing her windpipe. “You little -”
“Enough.” The air stilled. Through the watery film of her eyes, Mennah craned her head to see a woman, skin like cattails and rippling yellow eyes, observing the scene with a blasé demeanour. Her voice didn’t raise, words never wavered, but the clipped edge of her tone spoke of a woman who commanded attention. A pause. Fingers around her throat twitching. The man released his white knuckled grip. Back turned, Mennah took her chance and sat up, arms shaking as she braced and locked both elbows. She felt herself pale. The dull thrumming in her ears became a roar. She swallowed. Her throat was in agony. Her breath rattled in her chest in painful spasms, squeezing her insides to near-breaking points. The group around her spilled back, widening the circumference they set around her. A spasm of pain pinched her face. Her whole body strummed like taut elastic. Pouring over the throb of her body, she didn’t notice until the shadow spilled over her that the woman had edged closer. All she could do was swallow thickly as she leaned in, hot breath trickling over her face. Her lips tilted up invitingly; sharp, yellow eyes flitting softly over Mennah’s soft features like the light brush of a feather.
“Well, aren’t you the little hero?” she intoned, a soft, lilting croon like a mother coddling her sulking child. At once she’d bristled, livid. Who the hell did she think she was? This woman sat back and watched as someone’s tail was crushed, watched this monstrous and debilitating thing happen without as much as a bat of an eyelid. Hell, she probably instigated it with the way the group surrounding her torqued at her command. She was about to hash as much when before she could comprehend what was happening, hot lips were pressed against her own. Mennah’s eyes widened as she felt the woman’s mouth part, tongue probing at her bottom lip. As quickly as it started, the woman pulled away. Mennah sat there, ridged. She could still feel the heat of her breath linger in her. The woman’s lips pealed back into a grin and she leaned in, ever closer.
“I’ll be seeing you again.” Hot breath curled around the shell of her ear. She didn’t move, not even when she beckoned the group on with a click of her fingers. Not even when the bear-like man shot her a pernicious glare, one with a violent promise tied to its tail. She could only watch as the woman sprung to the air with a flash of light. As she left, she left her with a taste of smoke and iron on her tongue. She stayed there, aching on the ground, for several minutes until the sound of sirens crawled up the hill. She managed to clamber onto her feet, transform and scale the building and reclaim her satchel, dazed. She had a text on her phone; hey BB, wanna come over? can’t eat this jalapeno pizza by myself She didn’t reply.
As the morning rolled by, she woke to a choker of mottled bruises around her throat like giant, swollen amethysts and remembered that she left her goggles on the parapet. She spent the rest of the day curled on her beaten up loveseat, stomach folding itself over and over again. She felt as though she’d been tranquilised. Everything seemed to process a lot slower, and she felt numb to everything. All she could focus on was keeping the floor from buckling beneath her. She has Trappers on her tail. They were going to come for her. They were going to come for her and gods knew what they’d do? Mennah doubled over herself, wrapping her arms around her legs and pressing her forehead into her knees. Black rings were beginning to encompass her vision. She could still feel the talons shifting beneath her skin.

La Conner- Anacortes- Port Angeles La Conner The day began with a beautifully smoky sunrise over the Cascades and a warm breeze dancing through the air. A thick layer of smoke has settled into the area with all the wildfires burning along the coast but we were undeterred. We headed down the channel getting some great looks at a few black tail deer on a beach near Hole in the Wall. We continued onward and saw dozens of great blue herons and even had a few bald eagles around the channel. Toward the end of the channel we got to see more great blue herons and even had some views of an Osprey as it was heading out to g o fishing. We headed north from there getting unique views of Deception pass bridge in the smoke before we headed out into the Strait of Juan de Fuca. We crossed the strait to the south end of Lopez island where we slowed down for a nice pass by Castle rock. We found two more bald eagles here and even had a small group of marbled murrelets. As we continued west from there we began seeing many sea birds including common murres, rhinoceros auklets, and even a few groups of harbor porpoise. We joined up with the T2C’s between Trial island and Discovery island near Victoria, Canada. They gave us some great views as they were traveling back into the area after a short trip out to the coast. As usual T2C2 was trailing a little bit behind but definitely making his way just fine. After a great time with these Biggs killer whales we headed back to the east. We stopped at Smith island where we found seven or eight tufted puffins our feasting on the bait balls that lined Smith Bank. We checked out Minor island where we found a bunch more harbor seals hauled out on the beach and hundreds of cormorants. We then made our way up to Deception pass and we’re heading back when we found a Steller sea lion feeding right off the old Whidbey Island ferry landing. After that we made our way up the channel and back to La Conner having completed a great trip into the Salish sea!!! - Tyson Anacortes AM
Our trip started out leaving Cap Sante Marina and cruising over towards Bird Rocks in Rosario Strait. There were a ton of harbor seals and cormorants hanging out on the rocks. We then cruised over to the south end of Lopez Island where we saw more harbor seals. After that, we made our way west through the Strait of Juan de Fuca towards Victoria, BC where we saw our first group of whales of the day. A transient pod (marine mammal eating) was traveling along the coast. There were four orcas traveling together, including one larger male, that were identified as the T2Cs. After watching the larger group for a while, we made our way over to a lone male traveling behind. His name is Tumbo and he has scoliosis, which hinders his ability to swim fast and hunt. Thankfully his family members take care of him and travel ahead and hunt for him. After watching Tumbo, we said our farewells to the whales and headed towards the south end of San Juan Island. We made our way over to Whale Rocks where we saw our third marine mammal species of the day; the Steller sea lion. After checking them out, we still weren’t done spotting new wildlife. We journeyed over to a nearby island to see an eagle’s nest and found both parents and their two young perched in the trees.
- Emma PM Tonight’s trip started out cruising towards Bird Rocks, in Rosario Strait, after leaving Cap Sante Marina. There were a ton of harbor seals hauled out on the rocks as well as cormorants perched nearby. After that, we cruised down Whidbey Island towards the Puget Sound where we spotted our first whales of the trip. A pod of transient (marine mammal eating) orcas were traveling along the coast of Whidbey. After watching the group surface several times, they surprised us by popping up right off the bow of the boat! They then started chasing a harbor porpoise we had seen pass by the boat earlier. The larger male was porpoising out of the water chasing after the porpoise until the pod, unfortunately for the porpoise, ultimately won the chase. One of the orcas celebrated with a spyhop after the kill and they continued to celebrate. They surfaced right next to the boat again before we had to say farewell to the whales to head back to port. Truly an incredible show tonight. - Emma Port Angeles AM Visibility was extremely low due to wildfires but it didn't matter. We found a few harbor seals at Ediz Hook on our way out and then we ran into a huge concentration of birds most already sated from a huge meal but a large group was still working a crazy bait ball tightly condensed at the surface. As we watched we found two harbor seals surfacing in the middle just gorging themselves. It was a pretty awesome baitball. We then headed north to catch up with some orcas off of Trial island. We had the T2C's a family of four Bigg's orcas. The middle son Tumbo had fallen behind a bit due to having scoliosis but no worries as his family always takes good care of him. We could make out Victoria through the haze and had some good looks at Trial Island Lighthouse before moving on. At Constance Bank we found a humpback whale we know as MMZ0004 Zephyr. We got some great looks as he fluked a few times for us. By this time we were getting near the end of the trip and had to start making our way back across the straits everyone happy with a double header this morning. - Lee PM The Haze from the smoke still lingered about as we headed east to see if we could catch up to a couple of families of orcas that had been reported. As we traveled along tons of harbor porpoise were everywhere along with Common Murres getting ready to take their offspring back out to sea. Before we could reach our destination we were just off Dungeness Spit when we found our own little family of Bigg's orcas The T19's. We had mom and her 2 son's and they seemed to be heading west so we turned around and hung out with them since we had them all to ourselves for over an hour. Just as we were getting ready to leave they decided to all take off porpoising like they were chasing something. We never did see them make a kill but they were pretty exciting as they surfaced sometimes quite near the boat at high speeds obviously on a mission. We eventually had to drag ourselves away from them as they were heading back to Port Angeles and we had rumors of humpbacks north of us. Once again before we reached our destination we were waylaid by an adorable Minke whale who was very cooperative traveling west and surfacing at regular intervals. We spent a bit of time with him before heading on to see if we could locate the humpback whales. Once again whale karma was with us as we found not one but two humpbacks together. They decided to part ways after we got there but we had good visuals to let us know one was BCZ0298 Split Fin and the 2nd whale was MMY0009 Frankenstein. We watched Split Fin for a bit before trying to check out Frankenstein. He gave us some great looks as he angled in towards the boat before fluking and diving under the boat. The sun was setting and it was time to head home across the pond but not without running back into our friends the T19's for one last look before saying goodbye. What an amazing evening trip with a triple header and some very cooperative whales. - Lee

Sonic Meets the Windstars: Lunch
Sonic treats Zephyr and his crew to lunch, with...less than stellar results.
(Sonic and the Windstar Pirates are having chili dogs at the pier. Zephyr just looks at his chili dog in disgust.)
ZEPHYR What. In Neptune’s name. Is THIS?
SONIC It’s a chili dog.
ZEPHYR Why is it covered in dog food?
SONIC (glares) That’s the chili. It’s good.
ZEPHYR It’s revolting.
SONIC Dude, you haven’t even tasted it!
ZEPHYR Because it’s revolting!
IGGY Zephyr, just eat the [dolphin squeal] hotdog already!
ZEPHYR Absolutely not! It’s wet! And greasy! And it smells like…*sniff*…Eccch!
(Iggy pinches her forehead in exasperation.)
IGGY Uugh…you are such a big baby!
ZEPHYR (gestures dramatically) I am not a baby! I am a man! A man of taste! Stomp and I are both men of taste! And no man of taste would ever allow their lips to touch this...this...culinary abomination!"
STOMP Mmmmmm...
(Stomp is eating the chili dog while writing something down. Zephyr is aghast.)
ZEPHYR Stomp! What are you doing!?
SONIC Looks like he's eating.
IGGY Looks like he's thinking up a recipe too.
ZEPHYR You...traitor.
(Stomp swallows.)
SONIC Well, what do you think, big guy?
STOMP ...
OTHERS ...
STOMP ...[smiles] I like it.
(Zephyr's jaw drops, Sonic pumps his fist, and Iggy laughs.)
IGGY Ahaaahahahahahaaa!
SONIC Glad to hear it, Stomp. I could tell you were a man of taste."
(Sonic turns to Zephyr and gives him the biggest, smuggest grin he can muster.)
SONIC Wouldn't you agree, Zephyr?
ZEPHYR Stai zitto, riccio!*

Sonic OCs: The Windstar Pirates
Left to Right: Zephyr, Stomp, and Iggy.
Part of the reason I'm setting up this blog is to find a new place to put my deviantART commissions. And what better way to start things off than my eponymous OC and his friends! Sonic community, say hello to...
THE WINDSTAR PIRATES An infamous trio of treasure hunters and professional ne’er-do-wells. From the rooftop heights of Spagonia to the ocean waves of Soleanna, to Mercia, Empire City, and beyond, the Windstar Pirates sail the seas in search of adventure and riches, bringing destruction and mayhem wherever they go.
But despite being wanted criminals, the Windstars are actually fairly decent people with a (mostly) strong moral compass and a desire to help those less fortunate than them. Unfortunately, their penchant for theatrics, inability to gauge their own strength, and lack of foresight have given them a reputation for dropping the ball...a lot. The result: large amounts of collateral damage. Furthermore, they're still pirates, and aren't above taking advantage of a situation if it means making some Mobiums.
But despite their...issues, at the end of the day, the Windstars make for powerful allies and loyal comrades...just keep your checkbook handy and hope that your enemies are left in worse shape than you are.
ZEPHYR THE OSPREY Sex: Male Age: 16~17 Crew Role: Captain; Marksman Likes: Women, Colore (the world's finest fruit juice), Solean* cuisine, collecting fine art and other valuables, his crew, romance, sailing, swashbuckling adventure stories. Dislikes: Uncouth ruffians, bad table manners, his coat being damaged, people who abuse their power, people who abuse women, greasy food. Wanted For: Piracy. Vandalism. Reckless endangerment. Fraud. Theft. Armed robbery. Grand larceny. Petty larceny. Owning a blaster without a permit. Sailing a ship without a permit. Operating a stand without a permit. Smuggling. Bootlegging. Moonshining. Public indecency. Public intoxication. Public indecency while intoxicated. Impersonating a doctor. Impersonating an officer. Impersonating a reigning monarch. Slander against a reigning monarch. Assaulting a reigning monarch. First degree flirtering.
The Captain of the Windstar Pirates and youngest of the trio. Flashy, flamboyant, and fearless to a fault, Zephyr is the epitome of a swashbuckling pirate. Armed with his trusty "Rosa Venti" windblasters and backed by his stalwart crew, he sails the seas in search of adventure, treasure, and romance.
Zephyr fancies himself as a "roguish, gentleman hero", plundering criminals worse than him and going out of his way to help those in need. Unfortunately, he’s also a shameless philanderer and a snob, flirting with every woman he fancies and being dismissive and critical of those he deems “unrefined savages”. He also loves to show off and be the center of attention and hates being upstaged, especially by said "unrefined savages". Zephyr adores the country of Soleanna (Mobian Italy) and often injects Solean words and phrases into his speech (with varying degrees of quality).
STOMP THE BISON Sex: Male Age: 20~22 Crew Roles: Cook; Helmsman Likes: Cooking, flowers, his friends. Dislikes: Speaking (I get...nervous.), wasting food, violence and hurting people. Wanted For: Piracy. Vandalism. Aiding and abetting a wanted fugitive. Trespassing. Theft. Destruction of property.
The eldest Windstar pirate, cook, and the biggest, strongest member of the crew. Due to his imposing height and physique, most people think Stomp is just a dumb muscle-head; an assumption reinforced by how rarely he speaks. In truth, Stomp is a gentle, warm-hearted man who gets nervous around other people and doesn't like to draw attention to himself. He's also a staunch pacifist, and would rather spend his time preparing delicious meals than fighting, and only does so as an absolute last resort. In the rare moments Stomp does fight, he's capable of lifting objects several times his own weight and can effortlessly dent iron with his bare hands.
Because of his non-verbal tendencies, Stomp primarily communicates through gestures, body language, and the occasional grunt. When he does speak it's only a few words at a time and with frequent pauses.
IGNIS "IGGY" THE SALAMANDER Sex: Female Age: 18~20 Crew Roles: Mechanic; Doctor Likes: Tinkering with machines, science, candy (especially lollipops) Dislikes: People who use science and technology for evil, illogical things and behavior, people calling her fat. Wanted For: Piracy. Vandalism. Assault. Battery. Disturbing the peace. Trespassing. Theft. Unauthorized and unethical experimentation. Setting off explosives in a public place. Detaining one against their will. Leaking state secrets. Cyberterrorism. Copyright infringement. The middle Windstar of the crew and their mechanic and surgeon. Iggy is the serious and responsible member of the trio, the one who makes sure everyone focuses on the task at hand and doesn't do anything stupid - usually by slapping them upside the head or yanking them by their hair, horns, or feathers. She's also the most intelligent, having a genius-level IQ and an almost paranormal aptitude for all things scientific and mechanical - including the human/Mobian body (it's basically an organic machine to her) -, which she loves to the point of manic obsession. She's the one who developed most of the tech the crew uses, including their ship's engines, Zephyr's blasters, and her magnum opus: the Armachine, her transforming, custom-built prosthetic arm.
The only thing greater than her love of science is her temper and her penchant for swearing, forcing her to wear a special choker that plays random sound effects to drown out her profanity.
Sonic the Hedgehog is the property of SEGA, Archie, IDW, and Paramount. Please support the official release and all official materials.
The Windstar Pirates are owned by me.
