My Favorite Latin Phrases (Pt.2)
Hi there amazing people!
How are all of you? How is the quarantine affecting you? Did you do something new? It’s ok if you didn’t, because neither did I (high five!)
Remember when I made a post about my favorite Latin phrases, and couldn’t stop drooling over them??? Yes, and you all loved it too.
So here I am with a new loveable list. I learnt some new Latin phrases and couldn’t help share it with you guys.
Here we go:
adsum
I am here  (cause’ why not?)
quis leget haec?
who will read this?  (you of course.)
alterius non sit qui suus esse potest
let no man be another’s who can be his own.  (IMPRINT THIS ON YOUR MINDS!!!)
amor et melle et felle est fecundissimus
love is rich with both honey and venom  (I can see a cursed lover saying it with a sigh, while hunched on his stack of poetry.)
bibere veneum in auro
to drink poison from a golden cup  (I think this one is similar to ‘not everything that glitters is gold.’, you know how someone beautiful can be crappy too?)
audi, vide, sile
listen, look, and be silent  (my absolute favorite!)
vita brevis est, licet supra mille annos exeat
life is short, even if it go on longer than a thousand years.   (found this on some blog, called Bestiaria Latina Blog. But we all can relate to it, right?)
lux brumalis
the light of winter  (this is hitting me in the guts. Because I can never be ungrateful for the sunlight in winter. It’s one of the most soothing things of this cold weather.)
ducunt volentum fata, nolentum trahunt
the fates lead the willing and drag the unwilling  (this hits hard.)
ad honorem
for the honor   (I’m gonna create a fictional military world similar to Attack on Titan, and would make this as some kind of symbol for their national flag. Don’t laugh. I’m absolutely serious.)
si vis amari ama
if you want to be loved, love.  (simple as that.)
est quaedam flere voluptas
there is a certain pleasure in weeping  (where are my dark academia buddies at?)
causa latet, vis est notissima
the cause is hidden, but the result is well known  (they don’t see your hard work, they only see the result. I wonder if any other language have some version of this phrase.)
fiat lux
let there be light  (stop hating each other. Let there be light in your hearts.)
odi et amo
I hate and I love  (another cursed lover.)
qui totum vult totum perdit
he who wants everything loses everything  (a harsh thing written in such beautiful words.)
caveat emptor
let the buyer beware
pro bono
done without charge
terra incognita
unknown land  (heard this one a long time ago but never knew it was Latin.)
abyssus abyssum invocat
deep calls unto deep   (same as how this Latin is calling my inner writer who might be Sylvia Plath reincarnated.)
veni, vidi, vici
I came, I saw, I conquered   (WHOM DID THEY ATTRIBUTE IT TO???!!! I want to know the history of all these three-word proverbs, they are killing me.)
ergo dum me diligis
so long as you love me   (, I wouldn’t love anyone else. But as soon as you show me your back, you are on the top of my to-be-killed-soon list. Let’s just hope this is the complete proverb.)
dulce periculum
danger is sweet   (dude, what kind of Ocean’s 11 thing is this?)
natura non constristatur
nature is not saddened   (it is, honey, it is.)
tempus fugit
time flies
And finally, to give you a bit of motivation,
carpe diem
seize the day
I’ll be super glad if you add more to the list. Not only Latin but any other language is welcome.
Let’s share and spread love of languages!!!

HEY, YOU!
YOU! Yes you who is reading this. Listen up dude.
Love Yourself! For God's sake, freaking LOVE YOURSELF.
I KNOW it's hard. It's damn hard to look at yourself with eyes full of stars when all you see in the mirror is pain and mess. I KNOW it's hard to love yourself when you think so low of yourself because all those academic achievements you dreamt of but life didn't take you there. I KNOW it's really hard to love yourself when you think of yourself as someone ugly, thinking of not worthy of standing with someone you admire, when all you think of is hiding yourself in some deep closet because of that one hate comment/ stupid remark you got about your body and face. I KNOW it's hard to love any single thing about yourself when you know what you've been in the past. I KNOW it's hard to love your character when every single day you wake up to the same hell, to the same family problems, to the same stupid people in your society. I KNOW it's hard to love yourself when you have been through so much that you think of yourself as a burden.
It's freaking hard to live like that. I know. I have been there and I go through this every single day.
But you know what? I've come to realize that time and your soul are way too precious to be ruined like that.
I have learned this the hard way. The way you talk to yourself, the words you speak to yourself in your head and mirror, those stupid quotes that romanticize mental illnesses and every time you read them you think of yourself, the spiral of thoughts that hit you all of the sudden and you just dive in to them because the pain is inevitable but heart-wrenching...get rid of all of this.
Please.
I beg you.
These things are a tunnel with no light and there only purpose is to make you feel bad about yourself. DON'T LET THEM WIN! You are way more powerful and brave them then. You are way more beautiful than them. You know why? Because you have been fighting with them since God knows when but still you didn't give up on yourself. Every time you were on the verge of life and pain and chaos, you came back. Because you know there is hope.
Hope. Love. Please hold onto these feelings.
Next time you look into mirror, look at yourself with compassion. Because the sympathy you have been giving to others, start it with yourself and let the gentleness spread to others itself.
It works, slowly but eventually.
I Love You.

Has it ever crossed your mind how God chose the dumbest of humans, placed them beside you, and said, "Look at them. They are called siblings. Best of Luck."...???
So, just the other day, a courier service person knocked on and said, It's Taniya's parcel. My youngest brother *an 11 year old*, who attended the door, came back very excited (this is how us siblings get thrilled for parcels), and told my mom that Taniya's parcel has arrived.
And my mother was sitting there, staring at him, wondering if he had cattle fodder for brain.
Because there is no Taniya in our family.
Peak of dumbassness = Siblings

Hi loves!
I'm back after a whole week of being MIA because of exams. So let's celebrate my comeback with one of my favourite verses from urdu poetry:
کہ دو ان حسرتوں سے کہیں اور جا بسیں
اتنی جگہ کہاں ہے دل داغدار میں
Tell my desires to go and settle down elsewhere,
There is not enough room for them in my sorrowful heart
It's a verse from Bahadar Shah Zafar's (United Indian Subcontinent's last Mughal emperor) ghazal, a kind of urdu poetry, before his death in exile.

The Maptia Manifesto
Hi everyone!
3 years ago I read a little piece of writing somewhere. Those few lines had been inspiring me since then. I don't know if anyone among you have heard of it before but it's called,
The Maptia Manifesto.
I urge you to read this too. Reblog it with your name, on your blog. Write it down on your room walls. Make post it notes and stick it wherever you pass through. If possible, then write it on your ceiling fan too. Because it helps.
Here's mine:
"I, Zephrina, want to see the world.
Follow a map to its edges, and keep going.
Forgo the plans. Trust my instincts.
Let curiosity be my guide.
I want to change my hemispheres.
Sleep with unfamiliar stars and let the journey unfold before me."
I read this in my darkest time. And these beautiful words have been a source of inspiration since then. I want it to be your motivation too.

Hi everyone!
Yesterday, I talked about coming back on tumblr and starting over all of it. I wanted to be a bit organized about it. That’s why I’ve separated the blogs.
The other blog, @allofzephrina would be for my writing motivations and everything related to it. This I’ve preserved for, as I said yesterday, my journals, hand-letterings and above all my personal growth and productivity count.
I’ll try my ultimate best to catch up with you guys on my productivity and share with you all the new things that I’ll learn, whether it’s a book, inspiration from my personal life or some other random information.
I really hope this blog is a start of all the new things.
See you all tonight :)

"Uncle," she whispers. "Don't be afraid."
"Marie-Laure?"
His very smell like that of coming winter, a tomb, the heavy inertia of time.
"Are you well?"

An uncle of mine had this on his social media status, and I couldn't get enough of it:
The only bird that will peck at an eagle, is a crow. He sits on his back and bites his neck. The Eagle does not respond or fight with the crow. It doesn't waste time or energy on the crow. It simply opens its wings and begins to rise higher in the sky.
The higher the flight, the harder it is for the crow to breathe.
Eventually, the crow falls due to lack of oxygen.
Stop wasting your time with the crows. Just take them to your heights and they'll fade.
May you fly to new heights.
"Stop wasting your time with the crows." That's it.
