@ans-arcade Here's my second fic for the Rare Pair Scramble!

As you can see, I filled the saddest prompt on my board, and I filled it with IzanaYuki! It might be a little different of a fic than you are expecting, and it's actually a longer one than my last fic for the Scramble!

Can I ask who's Obi and what's AnS? I've seen you mention them sometimes and I think I've seen you reblog things on it? But I never looked it up, but since you have amazing tastes in fictional men you got me curious now

Hehehe, Anon, you're in for a lot of gushing...

AnS/SWTRH: Akagami no Shirayuki-hime/Snow White with the Red Hair is a manga (with only one season of anime rip) and it was actually my first real manga love. That's right folks, my Obi love predates Shisui!

I don't want to spoil it too much for you if you decide to have a go at it but, basics are:

Shirayuki is a herbalist in the Kingdom of Tanbarun who was born with striking crimson hair, which garners a lot of attention for her. When she's forced to run, she makes it over the border into the neighbouring kingdom of Clarines as a kind of refugee. She meets and gains the aid of the Second Prince, Zen, and his two Knight aids, Kiki and Mitsuhide. Shirayuki and Zen are the main pairing in the anime. Shirayuki joins the gang by apprenticing as a herbalist at the Royal Infirmary.

I'll try not to devolve lol

Obi, who is the tritagonist, was hired by a minor antagonist in the castle to basically... scare Shirayuki off from 'befriending' (in the shipping way, yk?) Zen, but nothing he does works. In watching her, Obi becomes curious about the kind of stubborn, sensitive, intelligent, kind woman that Shirayuki is. Through a series of events, Obi is taken on as one of Zen's attendants, going so far as to call the prince 'Master', and becomes Shirayuki's bodyguard and partner in crime during her adventures. He refuses to address her by name and only calls her 'miss'. Obi eventually comes to fall in love with Shirayuki, which Zen is aware of but Shirayuki is not, but he loves Shirayuki and values Zen too much to even consider speaking of it, not to mention his own beliefs that he is unworthy. Obi has a very mysterious past, not just because he has a lot of dubious skills with fighting, parkour, thievery and espionage, but because we don't actually know where he's from etc. Needless to say, I am hardcore ObiYuki allllll the way.

Obi:

He's just-!!!! He's very playful and evasive and you can tell he really doesn't value himself as much as he does the people around him. Even when Knighted, he's still got this image of himself as a dirty mercenary assassin trying to get by. He's flirty, a good few people polyship him with ZenYuki, but skittish of real emotion. He touched Shirayuki's shoulder once and then couldn't sleep because he was thinking about it over and over.

He and Shirayuki are low-key high-key raising a child together (Ryuu is technically Shirayuki's apprenticeship master lol child genius) and he's such a good father figure, even if he wouldn't see it that way

Obi is really sensitive, there are so many times when Shirayuki will earnestly thank him and he'll literally just... Buffer. He can swear his fealty and make sly comments about setting his life at other's feet but the moment someone suggests that they love him back?? Evasion, freezing, side eyes, wide eyes, I'm just 😩

Obi is a badass. He's literally THE badass of the show. Zen has a sword, yeah, and Kiki could kill me and I'd thank her but... Damn. Obi is doing backflips in a spar and shit, he's literally launching himself across rooftops and scaling turrets.

Obi is actually just a really wonderful person? He listens to people. He has absolutely no background or real interest in herbalism but guess what he'll fucking do? Run around on little adventures with Ryuu and Shirayuki, repotting plants under their direction, wading through ice caves to find flowers, helping them in the lab to distill essences... And he's listening and brainstorming with them! It would be so easy for his character to have passed off on it, maybe turned it into a "I'm here but not mentally" joke or maybe even just pushed to the back of these scenes but no, Obi's right in there all the time to help. Shirayuki and Zen have relationship issues? Obi doesn't even think about trying for his own agenda, he just puts supporting them (Shirayuki first, then Zen) as the top priority. Kiki and Mitsuhide in a bind? Obi will come out with a line but of course he would help them, watching carefully with concealed concern. Later, when Obi has his own duties, he's still heavily involved with the day to day research of his friends, making friends with other lab researchers outside of being Shirayuki's tagalong!

So... That's Obi! My OG babygirl!❤️✨

Hi, do we have to post zenyuki or it can be diferent things? (like other ships, or charathers alone)

Hello. Yes, you can add other ships and even characters by themselves into your art or fics, but ZenYuki ultimately HAS to be the theme and end-goal. So whether said pairing or stand-alone character is thinking about or looking at ZenYuki, or whether ZenYuki is talking about or looking at said pairing or stand-alone character, or a character is talking to Zen or Shirayuki about the other half -- whatever you want. Heck, you can even have said stand-alone character can even have feelings for Zen or Shirayuki, even if it’s one-sided. It’s up to you. 

However, since this is ZenYuki Month, they are the stars and the theme of these prompts, so be sure to keep that in mind.

So all this to say that, so long as ZenYuki is the main theme, then YES, you can add other pairings and/or stand-alone characters into your fics or art. 

This Month is solely to produce ZenYuki content since nobody has done an event for ZenYuki in years. And this is an attempt to bring the community back together.

If you’re looking for events for other characters and/or pairings, we’ll hopefully be able to host upcoming events for characters, rare pairs, etc, in the near future not long after this event.

ANS Rare Pair Week 2022!

For the second time ever, we will be hosting a pairing event! This one is not of one particular pairing however. Almost every pairing is allowed for this event, with the exception of three pairings: MitsuKiki, ObiYuki, and ZenYuki. Those pairings are at the very least some of the more popular ones and tend to get multiple pairing events for them. Even OC X Canon character submissions will count as pairings you can create submissions with. Pairings can be minor canon ones (like HisaKiki or HakIzana) or even non-canon ones like IzanaYuki. 

As for the prompts, you have options for each day, where there are two general prompts or an AU; feel free to fill any one of the prompts or jump in and fill as many of them as you want. If you are inspired by combining the general prompts together or combining one or both of the general prompts with the AU prompts, feel free. And if a general prompt takes you down a different day’s AU, that’s okay too. Just have fun and take the chance to share your favorite rare pairs with others, whether you’re the only shipper or whether others also love the same rare pairs.

A Land Meeting (Full Of Potential)

@onedivinemisfit I debated back and forth whether to link this fic on here, since I usually only link event fics (and some gift fics), but I thought of you as I wrote this, because every time I write a Selkie AU, I think of you, because I know how much you love them. Granted this is a ZenYuki one, mainly because I realized I’d never written a ZenYuki Selkie AU, and ZenYuki is nowhere near close to being your favorite pairing in ANS. But Shirayuki’s outfit in here is heavily inspired off of your Selkie May Yuzuri fanart! (She looked so cool and so cute, and I just resaw it again recently. And I must reblog every time it crosses my dash!) And so, she was in my head, and I couldn’t help but put Shirayuki in a similar outfit. pls be kind and bear in mind that i have sadly not kept up to date on this manga so i am uhhh dusting off old memories here <3 500 words of zenyuki because they are sweet and adorable and i have always loved them so very much <3 <3

They have plans to meet beneath the arch of the west wing’s second largest courtyard. First to arrive, Shirayuki stands to one side, peering out at the light rain that falls like a fine mist over the green, the paved paths, the blooms bobbing heavily on their stalks as glittering drops of moisture accumulate on petals. Everything is softened, turned hazy and muted, golden and green. Cool, spring air curls lovingly against her cheeks, her bare ankles, the backs of her hands. 

Zen comes to stand at her side without a word. Only a crooked smile, a crinkle of his eyes. Shirayuki smiles back, heart easing merely at the sight of him, the gladness and light in his face when he looks at her. She notes the dishevelled state of his hair, the jug he grips in one hand, the jar in the other, Zen’s sword sheathed at his side. 

“A fine morning,” Shirayuki says.

Zen’s smile twitches wider. He turns his head, looking out over the courtyard and the way the morning sun creates rainbows through the gentle rainfall. But when he says, “Yes, I think so,” he is looking at Shirayuki again, a tenderness in the blue of his eyes that makes Shirayuki’s heart clench, her gut hurt.

She has to clear her throat, smiling wide, cheeks gone red as the apples in the basket she holds at her side. Lifting it up, she asks, “Shall we brave it to the tree?”

“Mm,” agrees Zen, and without a moment’s hesitation the prince darts out into the rain. 

Halfway down the path he turns, skipping backwards. He lifts the jug and grins at Shirayuki, water streaming down his pale hair, fuzzing along the heavy weight of his clothing. Laughing, he says, “What’re you waiting for? C’mon, I’m starving.”

“You look like you’re having fun,” Shirayuki calls out.

Zen stands there, waiting for her. Tips his head back and closes his eyes, smiling into the gentle spray. Shirayuki sometimes can’t handle the wealth of feeling that Zen gives her; has to look away, to run, to hide a moment while she tries to get her bearings. He is beautiful, and he makes Shirayuki feel calm and confident and capable when he isn’t making her feel like her heart is about to explode. 

She steps out into the rain with him, along the neat path and into the gentle, cool wash of a spring morning rain. 

“There’s something about giving in,” he says, quiet and absently once she’s standing in front of him. “Just letting the rain wash over you. It’s nice, so long as I don’t get a cold out of it. That’s happened a few times too many,” he admits, grimacing a bit and dropping his chin down, blinking his eyes open to look at Shirayuki once more.

Shirayuki smiles, smiles.

Steps a little closer, lifting her face to his, hoping-

Zen’s hands are full. He leans in anyway like one of the flowers on the side of the path, bobbing down, giving gracefully to the weight of the rain. He tips his forehead against Shirayuki’s; a simple touch, a powerful point of contact. The rain slides down their faces, one to the other as he smiles back. “Hi,” he says softly. “Good morning, Shirayuki.”

“Zen,” Shirayuki says back, happily, happily. “Good morning.”

#8: Character that is most like you I can't say anyone is like me exactly but I would like to say I want the determination that Shirayuki has and her patience and kindness. She stands up for what is right no matter who it is and shows forgiveness. She is a wonderful main character and I hope everyone sees her as admirable. #12: Favorite arc It goes without saying with most people 😂 But it's the Bergatt Arc! The twins were very interesting characters who wanted just to live an honorable, honest life yet they were forced into a life of darkness and evil. They found the way out just not in the way they expected, from a prince, of all people! It's really awesome. #18: Your favorite rare pair Shirayuki and Hisame! *feels the ZenYuki people start me down* WHOA WHOA! Before we jump me, I don't mean in a romantic sense. I would love to see them as a duo and interact more. I just keep thinking of that time when they danced at Eisetsu's soiree. 😊 #24: A random headcanon that you have I would like to think that Zen and Shirayuki's married life is amazing! They are like business partners who long for each other in a healthy way, it's GREAT! Some people may think it's impossible, but they break those expectations! #34: If you could ask Sorata-sensei anything, what would you ask? I would ask, where do you get inspiration for the fashion, details, and food? I know she once said Moroccan, but I would also love to see how she will plan Izana and Haki's wedding!

We are putting on and hosting ZenYuki Month this Summer. It will run from May Twentieth to June Twentieth, and any type of creations are allowed. Fanmixes to original songs to fanart to edits to writing to anything that you’d like to create; ZenYuki must be the main focus of all creations. It will be a fun event, so do not bash any characters, pairings, etc... Even ones that are not in the event.
