It’s that time of year! Time to buckle down and prep for NaNoWriMo!

Apparently the official NaNoWriMo program assigns each of the weeks before November (starting last week) a theme/topic, and this week’s is characters!

I’ve drawn them before, but let’s formally introduce the main characters for my NaNo fantasy project Aether Continuum, (left to right) Myrin, Lucian, Quartz, and Teo:

Character bios below the cut:

Myrin: An elven college student, studying arcanology. She has a pet theory about the nature of magic, beyond the scope of astral magic, that she hasn’t been quite able to prove in her home city (which is basically it’s own mini-dimension), but her professors and advisors would much rather she focus her prodigious astral magic abilities towards studying to apprentice into the Inner Circle—the elven government. She ends up in the main world when she falls through a dimensional anomaly.

Fun fact: She’s probably neurodivergent. Given how many of my own quirks she’s inherited, she probably has masked ADHD. (I don’t know yet if the elves have any diagnoses for neurodivergence, but the main world certainly doesn’t)

Lucian: A human wanderer, native to the Duchy of Suntsovo. He was orphaned at a young age, living off the streets of a major city called Highmoor until he left at 13. Out in the wilderness, he ended up being found and taken in by another wanderer—a member of a magic order known as the Lunads. Over time, he became a Lunad himself—a user of lunar magic. He’s quite adept at it, too, especially with illusions.

Fun fact: His eyes were originally a muted blue before becoming a full Lunad—a process which, for him, turned his eyes silver. But because silver features are a dead give-away of him being a Lunad, he usually uses illusions to make them look brown or hazel, depending on his mood.

Quartz: A human bodyguard-for-hire, hailing from the country of Mbaapé. She used to be a warrior in a mercenary band, but was discharged (for plot reasons) and left for the north. She’s well known in certain regions for her skill with the spear and shield, but other than that she tends to be a mystery to the common folk. A friendly mystery, but a mystery nonetheless.

Fun fact: She is multilingual—fluent in at least her native language and the lingua franca of the northern Duchies. She doesn’t even have much of a perceptible accent when speaking the Duchies’ language. And she probably knows at least a little bit of one of the languages of the far north. (Also a meta fun fact: this story is directly inspired by a D&D crossover fic I wrote a few years ago, and Quartz is the only character originally from that story that remained virtually unchanged. The only difference between the fic and this story is that, in the fic, she was an Earth Genasi. Here she’s just human.)

Teo : A dwarf exile, originally hailing from the city Zaragal in the Irza mountains. He used to be a member of a noble house in Zaragal, but relatively recent events led to the downfall of said house and him being exiled. He doesn’t like to talk about it, and Irzan dwarves have a reputation for being dodgy about discussing internal politics to outsiders anyways, so no one knows many details about the incident. Don’t ask him about his short hair, though.

Fun fact: He’s quite skilled at throwing knives. He mostly shows this skill off for bets, but it comes in handy in more serious situations.

The DreamStone Zordrak & Zarag Rewrite Idea🌕🌗🌑

Zordrak's backstory. Don't get me wrong it's not bad, I just had some ideas for a Zordrak if he ever came back with more sympathetic qualities as well as incorporate his sister as a bigger part of the show.

I love the part of him used to being a Dream Maker but what if he didn't turn because of abusing his power.

This also involves Zarag who I read knew the Dream Maker.

What if Zordrak along with his sister Zarag, were both Dream makers. Maybe a lot like Rufus and Amberley. Zordrak more like Amberley, more realistic and grounded while Zarag was more like Rufus. A dreamer.

Maybe she was so much into her dreams she could even control them. A lucid dreamer. And LOVED her job to be able to give people the ability to have amazing dreams. Though like Rufus she tended to get lost, perhaps too lost in her DreamWorld.

Over time the more she put herself into her work, they all realized certain side effects of overexposure to Dream energy. And she was suffering from it. she grew more and more distant from the people around her, including her brother, Dream Maker and reality in general. She began to feel restless, that reality, compared to the Dream World was so limited and bleak. That in real life not everyones able to truly follow their dreams. And she felt that should be changed, at any cost.

With the power of the Dreamstone sue tried to merge both the Dream and Real world together, so everyone can be able to follow their wildest dreams. Ofcourse in hindsight trying to merge the Dream World with reality could lead to many problems that the Dream Maker and Zordrak could see but she could not due to being too far gone.

And in the process of trying to stop her, she herself ended up into the Dream World, forever(or so it was belived). The Dream Maker lost an apprentice and Zordrak lost his sister and best friend.

He pleaded to the other Dream Makers, including The Dream Maker to open it up so they can save her but they believed it was too dangerous and denied.

Zordrak in anger blamed The Dream Makers including himself for what happened to his sister, feeling they were too relaxed and reckless. It made him believe that dreams just brought nothing but trouble, filling people with delusions and danger just as they did with his sister, believing they need to end, this led him cast aside his role as Dream Maker and become Zordrak, Lord Of Nightmares!

And perhaps his goal to get the dreamstone isn't just to plunge the world into darkness and nightmares but also to find his sister or atleast make sure what happened to her will never happen to anyone else.

Has Yin or Totoko ever been wounded during a mission ? And if yes, it has already been very serious, like Yang when she lose her arm ?

Yes. First mission as real huntresses. During this mission of protecting miners and scientists, They ran into my oc Agony.  While Yin and Totoko were calling Yang and Blake, Agony showed up warning the miners scientists and their two teammates Ryan, a tough muscle guy with chainsaw minigun, and Daki, a fit woman with dust daggers and throwing knives the with her semblance makes them grow, to leave. They refused and Agony started to wipe them out. Sure enough, Yin and Totoko heard the screams and rushed back to help only to find all the miners and scientists dead, and not in a painless way, and ever though they were dead they were still screaming in pain. It was then when they saw their teammates fighting Agony, Totoko froze up since Agony destroy her village and killed everyone. Needless to said since Yin knew this she went in trying to help Ryan and Daki while telling them to escape.

Didn’t work out. For Agony grabbed Daki and crush her head down to just at the end of her ribcage, Note Agony in the form he was in is pretty big and terrifying. Enraged Ryan continued to fire on Agony and swung at him only for Agony to point his finger through his shoulder, causing Ryan whatever pain you would normally feel to be multiples by a million. Ryan screamed for Yin and Totoko to run right behind Agony liquefied his head by flicking it. Agony Saw Yin and Totoko and moved towards them to which Yin protected her girlfriend using her semblance to avoid all of Agony’s strike and leave an exploding clone. Unfortunately, Agony respect this and started to take the fight serious and whipped his arm out at blinding speeds and since Yin wasn’t expecting his arm to extend she got her stomach cut open. Only reason why she wasn’t cut in half was because she blow up her clone to throw her out of the way before crashing to the ground in the worse pain of her life and passes out.

This snapped Totoko out of her shock and it was she turn to protect. She and Agony fought ending Totoko Standing her ground holding Agony’s sword, which causes anyone who holds it agony since it is like grabbing broke grass barbwire thorns covered in salt to put in lightly, Against Agony still completely unharmed. That is until Zaga showed up ordering Agony to stop and Apologizes to Totoko and offers her to come with him so he can teach and train her. For those who don’t know Zaga is Kai’s dad making him Totoko’s grandpop through Kai adopting her. Before Totoko can answer Yin wakes up sees Zaga with a outstretch hand to a beaten up Totoko and changes at Zaga think he did it.

Rule of thumb, If one of Zaga’s four nakama sees you as a worthy warrior or respects you, he will assume you can take a light hit from him. So out of instinct seeing Yin ready to attack him from the corner of his eye, Zaga flicks his wrist at her before she could get close and, well, You know the term skin a cat? Because Yin went through the through just air pressure. Totoko freaked out rushing to Yin after she was set flying into a wall while Zaga looked at Agony confused to which he explain her aura was gone and was still under the effects on his attack. Zaga apologize and he and Agony started to leave only for Totoko to go berserk and try to attack Zaga with everything she had left. However as she was about to land a blow on Zaga Agony swung down his sword cutting off both of her hands before punching her full force in the chest with one of his forearm spikes sending her flying and landing next to Yin to whom she crawled over to begging to stay alive. Zaga began to argue with Agony, telling him not to attack his granddaughter while Agony argued back it’s his job as his right hand and friend to protect him, until Kai showed up Ready to try to kill the two until seeing his crying handless daughter and a barely alive Yin. Kai was pissed and wanted to kill Zaga and Agony more then ever, which the two were actually expecting him to try which they were hoping for but to there surprise Kai ignored them and helped the Totoko and Yin and left.

Kai used his semblance to mostly heal Yin who was in a coma and resting in a healing pool. He packed up Totoko who was growing her tentacle hands back very slowly.  Yang and Blake of course freaked out and panicked the whole three weeks Yin was in the coma and Totoko never leaving her side.

So in the end Totoko has a large scar in the center of her chest and back and around both wrist while Yin has a scar across her stomach and skin tone slightly orangeish red do to Kai’s semblance and the healing pool using her aura to heal her.

Also, Zaga sends “I’m sorry for nearly killing your girlfriend/daughter” cards to Totoko and Kai.

The Qliphoth: powers of darkness

Even if the dark and infinite ocean of non-physical reality escapes any attempt at mapping, the Qliphoth offer esoteric landmarks to those who venture beyond the far side of the Moon. This system of progressive self-initiation of the senestral way helps to structure an unknown territory by introducing a form of rationality understandable by ordinary consciousness in an occult domain. Each Qliphoth represents a state of consciousness involving the development of certain faculties through trial, study and contemplation of symbols. Mastering the energies present in each sphere opens access to the next qliphah.

If we refer to Kabbalah to position the Qliphoth on the nocturnal face of the tree of life, domain of the Sephiroth, the tree of death is accessible by Daath, the hidden Sephira making the link between the two aspects of the same reality. Although the night / day, good / bad, life / death duality is not ultimately relevant, it is advisable to start by exploring the tree of life before venturing into the shadow of this knowledge. The keen senses and intuition detect and analyze anomalies, hallucinatory aberrations of a twilight consciousness in order to realize a potential beyond imagination.

The 11 levels of the Qliphoth way:

By way of information and in order to give a more “concrete” idea of ​​what the initiation of the Qliphoth may involve, you will find below the translation of a text describing the different spheres. These descriptions are not absolute but rather fall under the subjectivity of the author (Asenath Mason) and in no way constitute a dogmatic truth.
