The short month of February brings some interesting titles to Netflix in 2024, and you can always count on What's New to Netflix to inform you of all the latest and lamest stuff heading your way.
Later, we watch some hitmen struggle to take out some survivalists and fire jumpers after starting a deadly forest fire in Taylor Sheridan's Those Who Wish Me Dead from 2021. Then we glimpse a hyperrealistic look at life at a rundown motel in Sean Baker's The Florida Project from 2017. And last, a father and daughter have to hide their special mutant powers from the world in Freaks from 2018.
All of this plus Magic Mike's strange journey, the wrong Plus One movie, traditional sitcoms, James Spader, Love Is Blind chit-chat, Britney Spears at the Grand Canyon, little scoundrels, awards shows, and the unusual story of a guy that used to be an orange.

The Gifted (2018)
My rating: 5/10
They didn't really file off the serial numbers on their <i<The Gifted fanfic so much as lightly rub them with a very soft cloth, which is a little bit distracting at times, but apart from that... it's fine, I guess? I found it a bit hard to get fully into the story, but there's nothing really wrong with it, as such. Probably just not for me, specifically.

Final Destination: Bloodlines, extreme fear for horror lovers
Tumblr media
Final Destination: Bloodlines is the upcoming sixth installment in the popular Final Destination horror film series, set to be released in 2025. Directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein, the film marks the franchise's return after a hiatus since Final Destination 5 in 2011. The release aligns with the 25th anniversary of the original film, promising a theatrical debut, including IMAX screenings.
Production Details
The film is produced by New Line Cinema and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. The screenplay is crafted by Guy Busick and Lori Evans Taylor, with Jon Watts, known for his work on Spider-Man: No Way Home, serving as a producer. The production began filming in Vancouver, Canada, in March 2024, after initial delays due to the SAG-AFTRA strike.
Cast
The cast features notable actors, including:
Tony Todd as William Bludworth, reprising his iconic role.
Brec Bassinger
Teo Briones
Kaitlyn Santa Juana
Richard Harmon
Anna Lore
Owen Patrick Joyner
Max Lloyd-Jones
Rya Kihlstedt
Tinpo Lee.
Plot Overview
While specific plot details remain under wraps, early reports suggest a unique narrative twist. The story centers on an 18-year-old character named Stefani, who experiences nightmares about a tragic tower accident from the 1960s. It is revealed that these dreams are premonitions related to her grandmother, who previously thwarted death but is now facing her own mortality. This connection to past events introduces a new dimension to the franchise's traditional themes of cheating death.
Franchise Evolution
Producer Craig Perry has indicated that Bloodlines will not strictly adhere to the established formula of previous films, which typically revolve around a group of characters escaping death only to be hunted down. Instead, this installment aims to expand the Final Destination universe, exploring deeper themes and character backstories while maintaining the franchise's signature suspense and horror elements.
As anticipation builds for Final Destination: Bloodlines, fans can expect a blend of nostalgia and fresh storytelling that honors the legacy of the series while introducing innovative concepts.

I think the reason why there isn’t a continuation of the story is because by the end, the two main character were too overpowered. Besides, once all the mystery was revealed, it became a different story altogether.
Freaks is a 2018 science fiction thriller film written and directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein. Starring Emile Hirsch, Bruce Dern, Grace Park, Amanda Crew, and Lexy Kolker.

Film Review: Kim Possible (Zach Lipovsky, Adam B. Stein, 2019)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7979492/reference/ This is cute and intentionally cheesy, and IMDb seems to have a weighted average problem with the most common rating for this being 1. I think that may well be one where, as with the 2016 Ghostbusters, men complained that all the male characters in the film look like complete idiots, except for the dad, who is a passive nerd and doesn’t get a lot…

Final Destination 6 Directors Reconfirmed at Cinemacon
Tumblr media
We're finally getting some more information about Final Destination 6! You may remember that we first reported on this project back in January 2022 when director Jon Watts attached his name to the project. Since that time all has been quiet but that all ends now that Cinemacon is in full swing! The Final Destination film series is a horror franchise that began in 2000. The franchise revolves around a group of people who cheat death after surviving a catastrophic event. However, they soon discover that death is coming for them in the order they would have died. The group must try to outsmart and evade death's design to save themselves and their loved ones. The series consists of five films, each with its unique set of characters and gruesome death scenes. Each of the films is tied together by the common thread of escaping death's plan. With its signature blend of suspense, gore, and creative death scenarios, the Final Destination series has become a cult classic among horror fans. First up we're learning that Final Destination 6 has reconfirmed directors with FREAKS co-directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein joining the project as directors. The word online is that the duo was on a long list of 200 directors up for the gig. These two won the sought-after gig by faking their deaths in their Zoom call with studio execs. Now I love this and I would love to see the footage from this Zoom call. Cinemacon is in full swing with a lot of news making its way online from the event and this tidbit from Final Destination is much appreciated. It's been a long time since Jon Watts got attached as writer and executive producer so I am really happy to hear some new developments from this project. What is your favorite final destination movie? 2 is the one that still keeps me driving in my lane but I hear that 5 was also really good. Let me know... Read the full article

Kim Possible (2019)
My rating: 5/10
I mean, as completely unnecessary live-action adaptations of cartoons go, it's not terrible - not good, either, but the characters are mostly recognizable, and there's nothing too egregiously wrong with it. It's... Kim Watchable.
I know, I should be ashamed. And yet.
