He’s got that ego when he thinks he’s the main character, but we all know this is just a cover for his insecurity. He’s loud and obnoxious because if he doesn’t do that who is he? But he’s also a decent and good friends and he’s lovely. There’s more to be said about him in the manga imo but he has the same birthday as me so checkmate.

Not to mention like everyone else he has his moments of badassery and like everyone in Mashle he’s willing to risk himself to save others (for anime : see him being bandaged after the Magia lupus fight )

He anime did not do him justice because they forgot some of his 😀 faces but I am willing to forgive A-1 for that because they added little scenes to flesh out our cast’s personality and silly. ( see his little low to Orter before he leaves, mf does not know what’s in store for him)( they left my boy on the fucking floor during the tea party)

Besides my LanDot propaganda, can we talk about his friendship with Finn ?? Yeah, everyone is friends but Dot and Finn. Mash is Finn’s best friend no doubt but Dot might be his second best friend.

In the promotional material for season 1 Dot is piggybacking on Finn 😭 like wtf that’s so cute

The manga doesn’t show this and this was added in the anime but Dot helping Finn in the key trial

More things that I think are very babygirl about him is that he breaks out from his character archetype by doing silly shit and being a genuinely good friend

Hwang Da Seul directing this show about a neurotic actor (actual puppy) who takes refuge with a grumpy chef resulting in sparks, cooking lessons, and LOVE! It’s is a touch quirky to get into, but utterly charming once it hits its stride. This is the ultimate grumpy/sunshine pairing plus the most appealing light-filled kitchen of our dreams. I adore this show so much. Limited use of BL tropes makes this feel more of a sweet contemporary gay romance between an actor plagued by scandal and the grumpy chef who adopts him, but the gentleness will appeal to fans of the BL genre.

Star Hunter's WZM was better than we had any right to expect, with decent pacing and a foodie theme threaded through the narrative as both love language and plot driver. Basically CEO falls in love with a street vendor’s food, recruits him to work in his hotel, falls in love with him, and that’s just the beginning. Class struggles! Kitchen drama! Papaya pounding (not a euphemism)! Chef poaching (not literally)! Spicy scenes (yes both kinds)! It’s all so delicious.

3 DNA Says Love You

Okay it's only in a cafe about 1/2 the time but it is the main setting if not the plot. DNA deserves extra marks for an upbeat approach to a queer story arc that other shows have systemically mishandled with sadness (in the guise of realism). There is a twist, which I found predictable, but knowing what would happen didn't spoil this show. The leads are luminous and engaging, and it’s full of queer found family representation and an unexpected amount of domesticity, plus it’s Taiwan, so the kisses are great. The first few eps are rough going but have patience, it's worth it I promise! The second half is really special and life/love affirming - and the end is big-grin charming.

Not really a love triangle featuring the prettiest men ever to be grouped together outside of K-pop, honestly the visuals are ridiculous, there’s a story, it has to do with food, whatever, they so pretty. I have a weakness for this BL and it's entirely Speed's fault.

The set up on this one is enemies (also boss/employee) and they don’t like each other to start. But that gets resolved pretty quickly. And then they are some of the cutest, hottest, and best boyfriends ever. This is an under-appreciated BL, IMHO. It's also more set in the office of a food creation company, but there is a lot about food.

6 My Tooth Your Love

Earnest dentist hottie with sad eyes who worries too much is smitten by an adorable sunshine neurotic bar owner with serious anxiety issues. They fall madly in love while courting each other with food, plushies, and naps. Then, shocker, talk about their feelings and try to actually sort out their problems so they can have an adult relationship. Bonus crumbs = 18 year old poor little rich kid in mad crush with a much older man. I really enjoyed this show, it had a unique premise, killer dialogue, there was a solid lead pair with charmg chemistry, soft flirtation, delightful smiling kisses, and stinkingly cute domesticity. All that said, I wasn’t wild about some of the darker themes it explored, even though it did a good job with them. And while the sides were adorable, they were underused. In the land of May/December, baby boy kabedon is my kryptonite! Why so little of it? (Kabedon is My Krytonite = also the name of my indie band’s first single.)

A pretty classic foodie set KBL that managed to distinguish itself from others in this category by having a particularly satisfying final episode centered around found family. Sunshine sweetie soju rep gets involved with a shy introvert chef who doesn’t drink. This has a somewhat uneven plot and ridiculous central conceit (much in the way of Tasty Florida), but if you are looking for a restaurant BL with Korea’s signature softness, then this is a great option. FYI I may identify with our baby party boy hedonist more than any other BL lead ever presented.

I mean if someone pitched this to me in an elevator I would have downloaded it by the second storey. Unfortunately, it did not exactly fulfil that promise, not in the way I'd hoped. Did I still enjoy the ride? Yes, but I feel a little let down.

Stars Kpop’s best known out gay singer, Holland & Han Gi Chan (Where Your Eyes Linger). Noodle shop! Broken dreams! This is a solid little KBL, with a good premise and cast. Manic pixie dream boy can get old fast but when contrasted with awkward grumpy chef? It’s a tasty combo that elevates both ingredients. Holland is a charming screen presence - baby boy is HYPNotiC. And while I wasn’t entirely sold on the chemistry, these two did give us some very good kisses and sweet domesticity. I grinned through most episodes and I didn’t even mind the standard KBL 1 year separation at the end because it felt so true to the characters. Is this Korea's first out gay actor in a BL? I think it might be.

I liked this one a lot better than most. Strict professional rivals (chefs) in a very enemies to lovers BL - to the point where we mistrust the sincerity of the seme because he’s so very in it to win. I kinda like that, because kitchens are hotbeds of drama, and I like a seme with some sinister edge. But be warned, it means the whole romance comes off as a little disingenuous.

The leads in this drama crackle on screen together and I kinda adore them. No one has seen this BL, and you should really give it a try. Is there angst? Nope even what could have been angst (a gay idol) doesn’t materialize, it’s just cuties in a cafe confusing each other with cat & mouse games. The side het couple is a touch disturbing, tho.

While it did have pacing issues and some questionable content at the beginning, MLB’s unabashed queerness carried it though and ultimately elevated it with camp. It never felt like mockery or punching down, it felt joyful, and very new wave BL. It’s as if Vietnam is starting a process of handing out HEAs to all the letters of LGBTQ+ in BL style - I love this look for them.

A sweet and somewhat pure show, and like the Thai desserts it features, perhaps requires too much patience for a layperson. Because of the pacing and the focus on a bad girl character, I did dock it. But if you like stuff in the Oxygen vein, then this show is for you, and far better than most Thai BL pulps. That said, I suspect that I enjoyed it more than many would.

15 My Universe - Lucky Love

A boy suffering heartbreak is asked to look after a friend's restaurant, and meets a young chef whose food brings on a relationship. I enjoyed this 2 part installment, it’s a bit of a sad sack recovery SAGA, but the acting is genuine, the couple believable, and the story felt particularly queer to me. It was really quite charming.

1/3 of this is a sweet romance about a student doctor falling in love with a student chef, and the rest of it is utter dross. Look the OffGun bits were GREAT. In fact, I think they’re better AS A PAIR in this show than in any of their other BLs. And I'm a hard sell on any OffGun being better here than PickRome. Saying that, how can I review a show where I could only tolerate 1/3 of it? Because I didn’t like any other aspect of this show, no other pairs and no other plots. That gives me: 9/10 for the OffGun bits, 5/10 for everything else. Frankly, it probably should be an 8 but I gotta go with my gut and it's UPSET about this so 7/10. Sorry boys. It’s GMMTV’s fault. Your heart was in this show, mine wasn’t.

This show had truly great chemistry between the leads, cute found family with good rep, and an exciting (if silly) ending that almost, but didn't quite, make up for how incredibly annoying the main character was in the first half. Gotta say the make-out scene in the convenience store is one of the greatest in Thai BL history, but I can't like a show where I dislike the main character to such a degree, sorry DouOffroad I intend to enjoy your next offering.

Okay it's sometiems set in a club but that's not really part of the... plot. An interesting time slip concept and a great set up ultimately disappointed. It opened strong, on one of my favourite under appreciated Thai actors: Plustor (as Vee) in a side bartender romance with younger bisexual king, Games. Unfortunately, it went downhill from there. OhmFluke’s solid chemistry and romantically soft kisses were ill served by a reformed rake meets rich-kid cheater pairing. While it was nice to see Ohm play a part with more animated facial expressions, his was the only character that remained consistent. All in all, this was a confusing show about disloyalty and parallel worlds that never made sense or stayed true to its characters. A promising start, confusing middle, and disappointing end. I don’t say this lightly, but Oh My Sunshine Night is better, and OhmFuke deserve better than either.

Thailand gave us Korean style slowly simmering ultra soft and sweet BL only at a Thai length so the pacing was… not good. Slower than molasses and full of insane subtext, long gazes, missing dialogue, abrupt mood swings, and one very pretty kiss. It curdled around episode 8, the sauce split, and there was no saving it. It did have some of the best food porn I’ve seen in my life, and I watch cooking shows regularly. It was beautiful, the leads were decent, it should have right up my alley, and yet… it left me with a feeling of disaffected ennui - bland and boring and unsatisfying. 11 courses of tasty tasty pacing issues.

Stars Pavel (my love) as a cafe owner (Forth in 2 Moons 2) and Benz as a composer (Call it What You Want). This should have been my kind of BL - on the fluffy end of the spectrum plus honestly queer. Unfortunately, the slow pacing, manufactured angst, odd secondary story arcs, and a selfishly immature unlikeable wet dishcloth main character, meant its flaws outweighed its charm. Jean (flame on snark fairy) is ME, I love him so much but in the end neither he nor Pavel in an apron could save this show for me. It’s not bad. It’s not good either. Ultimately so forgettable I’ve probably already forgotten it. There is also a Coffee Melody holiday special.

One of Thailand’s early very high heat pieces, it’s odd, but sexy I guess? Some unexpectedly decent queer rep at the cafe including femme characters getting screen time and HEAs. Part one from 2013 has the same high heat content and feature the same lead character (and actor) early on in his queer journey, discovering he is gay with the sex worker next door, but isn't as good nor is it relevant to this story. Which, unfortunately, also isn't very good.

30 The Promise

Although well acted this show dragged a too simple premise out into the ultimate manipulative miscommunication repeats of idiotic "why don’t you just TALK!?” Phu & Nan are childhood bffs through college (almost lovers) until Phu disappears. After looking/waiting for him, Nan gives up and self isolates, and the actual story takes place 10 years later. Phu’s “reason” and inability to say it out loud makes the whole show just frustrating, squandering good chemistry, and a stellar cast of multiple faen fatals (whose personalities would’ve made them better boyfriends). Seriously do not bother. What a damn waste of talent, time, and electronic bandwidth. Fatally flawed.

31 Love Area: Part 2

It wasn't as boring as Bite Me, but it wasn’t actually good, either. This started out as Thailand tackles love triangles pulp style, but in part 2 lockdown changed everything. Valen & Kaitoon dropped some great kisses but traded off crazy hair and makeup in a scene-by-scene whiplash that was clearly pickups done months after lockdown, and the second lead vanished. It was... surreal. Side dishes jumped up screen time but tackled mental health... badly. A fantastic new queer side character was randomly introduced, June, who was the best thing to happen to BL linguistics in 2022 but had nothing to do with the rest of the cast, show, or plot. What a mess. In the end, I didn’t know what I was watching, and neither did it.

Top 10 Thai? That's hard. There are so many. SO MANY. And so many are good but not my favorite while others are beloved but, like, actually not good at all.

How do I pick a top ten!?

Urgh, it's such a broad question and so hard to answer!

Okay, my personal top ten Thai in no particular order. This is not a promise of quality, only of shows that I personally love.

My Ride: Most beloved, soft BL, soft boys, soft family, soft everything and even the conflict is overall very gentle and everything gets talked out in the end.

A Tale Of a Thousand Stars: A childhood dream was fulfilled with this BL, okay? I love it so much.

Bed Friend: What could have been awful turned out very, very well and even gave us the sweetest little ending with everything tied up and darling and I cannot wait for Middleman's Love.

En Of Love: Tossara: Shut up, I love this little show, it's the most comforting thing in the world. It's basically hot chocolate and a blanket disguised as a BL. There's no conflict. Nothing. Just boys falling in love.

What Zabb Man!: Entirely for the second couple but I'm putting it here because it is SO underloved.

My School President: Soft and sweet and the side couples were all great.

Secret Crush on You: The cringiest but also most honest and glorious show ever about the losers in every other show being the beloved main characters. You gotta get through the first couple episodes to find the heart but it's there, I promise.

Until We Meet Again: I mean, this has to have a place here. No denials. It's amazingly well told and just plain glorious.

Star in My Mind: Look, is it good? Questionable to no. But do I love it? Yes. Yes I do.

Between Us: I loved this show. And every single pairing in it, which is rare.

Shows that did not make the list because they're not BL but would have otherwise: Moonlight Chicken and Laws of Attraction.

a boss and a babe: yeah i know the title is abysmal but let's talk about more important things like FORECEBOOK MY BELOVEDS!!!!!!!!! i think im possibly one of the very few people who actually enjoyed enchanté and i honestly ADORE forcebook. they have a fantastic chemistry that really shines through when they banter but they also can do UST and pining SO WELL, im just incredibly happy they got another series. im pretty much already in love with book's character and i tend to really like office romance in BLs, so im excited to see them in this kind of setting!!!! if i have to be completely honest though, there's something about the mock trailer that didn't fully charm me, but i can't quite put my finger on what exactly. maybe it's the kind of humour they used? but i wasn't too fond of the humour in roommates of poongduck either and yet i LOVED the show, so that’s hardly gonna be a problem. IT'S TIME FOR FORCEBOOK TO TAKE OVER THE WORLD AND IM HERE FOR IT!!!!!!!!

cherry magic thailand: since we didn't get a trailer it's hard for me to form a solid opinion on it, though i do admit that out of all the BLs they announced this is the one im less excited about, mainly for two reasons: 1) dark blue kiss is one of the few popular BLs i still have to watch, so im not emotionally attached to taynew, nor am i familiar with any of their other works, which means that without a trailer i really have no idea what to expect acting or chemistry wise, and 2) i know they're gonna be two very different beasts because the thai version is gonna be an adaptation of the manga and not a remake of the japanese series, so im fully aware it's not fair to draw comparisons between the two, but the jp one has such a huge place in my heart and it also gave us one of the very few aroace representation we have in media, it's just gonna be really tough for me to keep the two things separated in my head and to accept the differences between them ;;;;;;;; on a more positive note i have a crush on both sing and jan so my bisexual ass is already sweating

dangerous romance: im surprisingly really excited for this????? which i did NOT expect considering that it has an high school setting, but the trailer got me hooked!!!! i only saw chimon in he's coming to me (yes i know i have to watch the gifted I KNOW), while im more familiar with perth because of love by chance and the stranded, but they seem to have a very nice chemistry and i really like that the show will probably deal with more serious topics. im also a simple woman with very simple needs and if you dangle enemies to friends to lovers in front of my eyes i will follow it blindly like a horse with a carrot. also hiiiii papang hiiiiii just wanted to say im free whenever hiiii <3

hidden agenda: JOONGDUNK AND AOUBOOM IN THE SAME SERIES THAT'S ALL I NEED TO BE ON BOARD WITH THIS. star in my mind wasn't the best show but i think joongdunk have great chemistry and they seem very comfortable with each other, so im excited to see them again and for joong to play a less serious character than kluen was. the premise gives me a lot of 2gether vibes, so not particularly groundbreaking, and im a bit worried that the drama in the story could frustrate me a little, but i see pining and i start BARKING, which means this has the potential to have me committed. also i personally find aouboom characters shady as hell but that actually just makes me even MORE EXCITED GIVE ME MEAN GAYS POWER COUPLE PRETENDING TO BE NICE BUT FUCKING THINGS UP FOR EVERYONE ELSE. last but not least: im starting to believe guy could have chemistry with a rock, that one second of him and pod got me like a dog seeing a squirrel just on high alert with my ear up and my body weight leaning forward ready to bite like HELLOO????????? only friends: look there's no point in hiding it: i have some mixed feelings about this show. on one hand it has a stellar cast that im in love with and im always STOKED to see a BL dealing with more mature themes, on the other im afraid these are.. not the kind of mature themes i tend to enjoy ;;;;;;;; it's like with love mechanics, where i simply could not get into it because despite yinwar's insane chemistry the cheating and the messiness were just too much for me: i was feeling more bad than good while watching it, and it just ended up turning an enjoyable experience into an upsetting one. of course im not gonna presume and judge things just from a mock trailer, but the fact that this is gonna deal with toxic relationships is giving me pause. it's really just a matter of personal preferences though and im still gonna give it a chance!!! it's also very nice to see everyone on my dash screaming and being beyond excited about it so im gonna support everyone from the sideline!!!!!

all in all im incredibly happy with what we got and i think it's a pretty good variety: we have school settings and office settings and kitchen settings, we have younger characters and adult characters, we have some light storylines and some heavy storylines.... and we are still far from being able to actually call this 'diverse', but we finally got a GL and a disabled character and it may not be enough but it's a start!!!

I agree that Dot would be one to show affection through touch more than Lance too, along with your interpretation in general.

About the reason for Dot’s trauma:

Throughout the series, we’ve seen Dot throw himself out there for his friends. During the Magia Lupus arc, he blocks the stone guys attack for Finn; For the Tri-Wizard tournament arc, he does it for Mash. In the training arc, he’s even said he isn’t afraid of death or being used as sacrifice.

Then there’s Lance. He’s strong, he’s never been put in a truly life threatening situation in the manga before this because he can stand his own ground. In the training arc, he doesn’t struggle; He never needed to.

Dot knows that Lance is better than him in every way; looks, grades, power, charisma, he has it all. Just before the fight, he asks Dot not to drag him down.

So why then did he sacrifice himself , throw himself out as a human shield for Dot?

If anyone were to die it should’ve been Dot, if anyone should’ve been fodder it should’ve been Dot. To the audience at the time, this is the second time we actually see someone die. Among all the other sacrifices, this was the one that looked closest to death. Hell, it was put into a cliff hanger for us and we assume that he was dead before Dot activated his power. To Dot, he cannot grasp why Lance would do this. This is a fight for Lance’s sister, it’s personal, HE’s dragging HIM down. If anyone should die, it should’ve been him. So why?

In the end of that fight, Dot genuinely didn’t know if Lance was dead or not. It happened in front of him, he saw the metal go THROUGH Lance’s body; and for what? Friendship that they barely knowledge?

Lance was saved by the pins under his jacket, how close is that ? He could’ve died here? They hurry to fight Doom, fight a little with each other too. Then after that was the Innocent Zero fight, where Lance has a minute hand PENETRATE THROUGH his abdomen . He bleeds out, Dot was there with everyone else, it’s the second time and he has no sister pins this time. And this time, there’s nothing Dot can do. He’s out of power, out of steam , this guy that he’s recently got closer with dies infornt of him twice. Mash went to heaven for a bit, but he comes back. This second blow to Lance was fatal, he had to wait for Ino Zero to revive him. He’s worry about all his friends of course, Mash fought damn hard to free the magic world.

But Lance would be more personal, simply because it’s happened twice in this short period of time and that the first one happened FOR him. Both of his sacrifices were bloody, just the fights were traumatic, what about the guy that died in front of him for him ?

I think Dot would be more affected by it than Lance would, but doesn’t mean Lance isn’t affected.

A major part of Lance’s story is that he’s trying to save his sister from impending death, which would happen either slowly due to her lack of manic, or if someone like Orter finds out (basically everyone in that society). There’s a sense to be brave for others to Lance, he has to be powerful for his sister, his friends. He’s good at everything and why is that? He has to, he has a strong sense of responsibility. Lance knows what it’s like to lose people, the fear of it. When at the threat of his friends dying, he jumps even with everything is at stake. But he doesn’t regret it, that’s not what he’s scared of.

I think there’d be a sense of “what if” that pops out every now and then, however even if he’s scared he’ll hide it. He needs to be brave.

Dot is the more vulnerable one between them, his confidence isn’t as high as it seems, he’s more emotional. The nightmares would hit Dot harder than they would Lance.

The dreams he have are… a lot , it feels like he’s there again but his . Legs. Wont . Move. He wakes up in a cold sweat, a frenzy. Just the first night he gets back to Easton, he’s tired but his memories are vivid, the lack of reassurance scares him. So he goes to the person who’s been with him through everything in this fight, either to just talk to or for reassurance … he goes to Lance’s dorm.

No one answers when he knocks on his room. He doesn’t go back into his room though.

Going back to his room where it’s quite felt… wrong. Mash fought a lot, he needs his rest; Finn, he’s improved a lot, saved their ass by acting a support and probably has a lot of catching up to do with his kinda estranged brother. But what about him ? Compared to everyone else what did he really do? Go around throwing a few bombs then getting his ass beat? Lance… does everything that he can’t. He’s a burden to even try to find him, yet he stays and sits in front of his dorm room. Social workers are probably an option in Easton, but he needs to talk to someone who was there. He feels like he needs to see Lance to make sure… make sure he’s ok, he feels partially responsible for the damage. There’s chatter in the halls now, where he’s waiting. Everything seems to have changed a little, but it’s good to be somewhere that isn’t so quiet, it’s comforting.

It takes a while for Lance to come back, having to visit his sister everyday now to check on her steady recovery, fill in some paperwork about enrolling her into Easton. The fight is still… tough, it’s fresh on his mind but… everything was fine now, his fight was finally over. It’s relieving at walk back through the hall to his dorm, some people wave at him but he’s tired too. Dot sits curling in on himself outside his door, he’s breathing is a little heavy, his eyes look scared. They don’t exchange words as Lance unlocks the door to let Dot in.

“…You look like shit, more than usual, are you ok?” Lance asks, he’s worried, and Dot lets the flood gates open . Lance holds Dot over and lets him sit on the ledge of his bed. He wanted to get herbal tea to calm Dot’s nerves but the other boy insists he stay, next to him. Dot cries quietly, just sobs and not the loud kind that he cried when they saw Orter again. There’s the occasional sniffle, but no speech, Lance only pats his back slowly. His hand slowly crawls up to Dot’s fluffy red hair, the sobs decline a little as he pulls him closer, Dot leans in and they just stay there for a while…

Eventually, Dot calms down. He goes back to his room and they don’t talk about it the next day.

But… he comes back. Dot craves physical touch and who is Lance to decline him this sense of comfort?

It’s one of the reasons they became roommates afterwards

I feel that dot would ( i feel it would be his love language) but wouldn't do it just in case lance doesn't like it. And I'm stuck on lance if he would let it happen or not he's kind yeah but the other side of him with dot seems like he wouldn't let it happen (I'm not sure what I'm going with this)

But maybe it would happen after the fight with eppend (I don't know how to spell) lance would go to dot room because he's not able to shake the thought of seeing dot one almost getting hurt I mean he knows he saved him and that he's alive (thanks to Ann) but what would have happened if he didn't that would be in his mind so he just needs to see dot's fine maybe that will clam his nerves so he walks up to his dorm and is about to peep when the door flies open and dot just looks at him his look was sharp looking up and down and walks off leaving the door open and walks up to a small table in his dorm (lance enters) and they just sit in silence not saying a word but enjoying (even if a bit of there company) each other's company. And somehow they end cuddling just like that but none of them say anything there just talking about the fight and how there friends did and lance just says something about him being glad he alive and dot just stops and think for a bit and says he's glad as well an-

the way people continue to sleep on star hunter makes me so sad 😭 i’m just so happy to have another star hunter fan. i realized real fast that the majority of my favourire ships are star hunter couples 😂 i’m so excited big dragon is bringing the whole company more fans, but i’m especially happy that because of it we’re getting a season 2 😭

But I genuinely think Star Hunter is doing so well. They're constantly improving and branching out. And even season 1 of Gen Y was amazing, as far as cheesy university BLs go (and it never pretended to be anything but). Then we have My Mate Match, which is seriously underrated (and I love how the constraints covid put on it turned out to be its biggest strength: 3 people confined to 1 house - almost like intimate theatre), and then What Zabb Man! and now Big Dragon, which has got to be their most ambitious project yet.

And maybe it's because I'm paying a lot of extra attention but I love how Star Hunter treats their artists. No one's put aside and everyone's frequently getting involved in stuff. I just. I love them a lot thanks for coming to my pep talk lmao

Currently watching

Cherry blossom after winter- loving this a lot I already thought I was gonna like it before it premiered but I like it waaaay more than thought honestly I think it’s going to be the best KBL I ever watched

Cutie pie- at first I was not Vibing with this show but then I kinda changed the way I was thinking about and I realize it’s actually a really good show and I’m so excited for the next episode

Enchanté- yeah I like this show, good show, solid show

Koisenu futari- it took me so long time to find a way to watch this show and soooo much effort way more than I’ve put into finding a show in a while I forgot the struggle, I came to so many dead ends and I was this close to giving up and at like the third wall I hit I fucking got it, and I’m so glad I didn’t give up cause this show is fucking fire so far, I’m about to start ep 5, and dare I say the best asexual representation I’ve ever seen from show

La cuisine- this one is very classic cute and simple and I love it a lot it’s nothing crazy it’s very straight to the point but it reminds of the BLs I used to watch when I first discovered BLs and it’s like oddly nostalgic for me lol

Love stage!!- shows great, a little hard to find good subtitles but it works out

Physical therapy- I hate this show I’m only watching this cause I started it and I hate quitting shows especially this close to the end there is one pro to this show and it’s the the main couple do have some of the best chemistry I’ve seen like they can be doing the most mundane things and it gets me shy but even that isn’t enough to make me like the show as a whole

The tuxedo- this show is fine it’s 8 eps with a 20 min run time so not huge commitment so I’m into it even if it gets bad, so far so good I’m invested in the story so I’m not having a miserable time

Dear doctor, I’m coming for soul- I’m starting this one probably today i was just waiting to get caught up on the tuxedo first and I just finished that yesterday

SCOY- I’m gonna start this as soon as start dear doctor, I was gonna watch this when it was first announced cause I was excited for multiple reasons but overtime I had a feeling it wasn’t going to be good so I changed my mind but then I changed my mind again cause it was only 6 episodes but then it updated to 14 and I was out again cause what if it was so bad i would have to stay cause I don’t like starting and then abandoning them unless it’s absolutely necessary but as it’s been on I’ve been keeping my eye on it and it’s peeking my interest so i think I’m gonna watch it even it is bad, I mean I hate physical therapy but I watched it from the beginning and I’m going to the end, I can do it for SCOY

Blueming- I’m so excited for this I think it’s going to be really good, if you didn’t know I’m not a huge fan of KBLs but so far this year they have been blowing me out of the water and there’s like a bunch I’m actually looking forward to which doesn’t really happen for me

Kinnporsche- finally will be watching this one but lowkey not sure if I’m gonna like it as much as I thought

I hate shit like this absolutely hate shit like this and like heard talking of the show for a while and like obviously I wasn’t going to watch it but then recently they released a trailer and I was just around so I just watched it just for kicks and giggles‘s and I liked it alot like the main couple was better than thought they were going to be and the side BL couple was cute as hell then they showed a side GL couple and I died and I had to watch it and now it’s on my list and now I’m gonna watch a show where a man and a cat fall in love,,,,☠️ also just to add this trailer had no subtitles and still got me invested in the story somehow and the GL couple is like a sort of boss and assistant/ underling employee situation and oh god I love the power imbalance I have to watch it

Dear Doctor, I’m Coming for Soul

I am so glad they toned down the music and the music choices. It makes it so much better. I really like this so far but I’m afraid of an unhappy ending.

Kinnporsche

I was so hyped for this show only for me to not feel it. It has to much comedy elements so far for me. I just want more action scenes. I’m not even like “I need to see this the day it comes out”. I can watch it days later and it’s fine with me.

I already said before it’s a slow burn and it still is. I am getting frustrated with Soh tho. He needs to get it together.

Rak Diao

I am still in love with this show. Watching it fansubbed since One31 is really slow with subbing. I don’t mind if this show will end up having 20+ eps.

Secret Crush On You

Still not totally liking the main couple. But SkyJao ❤️❤️❤️ Iove them so much. I wish we got some more DaisyTouch. I really liked the moments of them together.

Star And Sky: Star In My Mind

I was a bit worried since New directed this. But I really like it so far. I also love Joong and Dunk’s chemistry. And I love Pawin’s character in here.

The Miracle Of Teddy Bear

Hand down the best BL airing right now. No if’s or but’s. It is. I love the social and political commentary in this BL so much. It’s ending this week and I really hope we get a good ending. I don’t wanna bawl my eyes out.

1. If you had to watch one drama forever what would it be?

Oh wow okay, right into the serious questions I see. I cannot really decide between Blueming and Long Time No See :D At this point most likely Blueming. It was such a great experience to be able to binge-watch it, which I contribute to me liking it so much.

I already rewatch it regularly so it wouldn’t be that hard to watch it forever :D

2. If you could change the ending of a drama which one would it be?

H3 Make our days count. That’s the first that pops up in my mind. It was such an unnecessary cruel ending. There are other bl dramas that I would have liked to have a more elaborated ending like Trapped (#freeTangYi), but all in all when I think about the dramas I love they all have a ending I’m satisfied with.

There are of course dramas that ended open for some cp’s I adored with the hint of a second season and that second season never came, but I get over that pretty quickly.

3. Name your favourite drama and tell who your favourite character is.

I don’t have a favourite drama tbh. There is a top ten in my head that changes sometimes and those are comfort dramas that I rewatch often. I love them for various of reasons and I couldn’t pick one to be my all-time favourite.

My favourite character for a long time was Shao Fei from Trapped. I adore characters that are inherently kind e.g. Adachi, but have a bit of an unhinged side to them :D

4. Name a drama that you dropped within the first few episodes - we all have at least one!

The Tuxedo, Check out, Unforgotten Night the list goes on :D I sometimes wish I could trash watch but I am just not build like that ^^°

5. Name a popular drama you never watched and why.

Huh. I don’t really know how popular bl dramas are while they air because on tumblr I sometimes have the feeling only me and eight other people are watching a drama that is widely talked more on twitter or other platforms so...

I put off watching I told sunset about you for the longest time and I had the feeling I didn’t really missed out. I just couldn’t get into it.

Oh also a lot of the gmmtv dramas I guess. Never watched Not Me or Theory of Love. 

6. Name a drama you regret watching.

My Dream. What a fever dream of a clusterfuck that series was XD But mostly I drop dramas quickly if I don’t like them so I guess I don’t get to the regret part :D

7. Name a drama you thought you would never watch but did and did you end up liking it?

What Zabb Man. I don’t know the name was so... weird in my mind XD it sounded like a dude-bro thing and I really disliked Gen Y and dropped that pretty quickly so I didn’t trust Star Hunter Entertainment no more :D But I gave it a shot when I was sick and it was good and cute and Athip and Poon have my heart.

 8. Name a pairing you want to see?

Oh that’s not something I have an opinion on. I think as actors they will and should act with whomever they get casted on or would want to act with. In general I think the whole real life actor cp thing is kinda weird and limits them a lot.

I get that people talk about chemistry between actos and what they mean with it but... if you are an actor you should be able to create chemistry with everyone especially when you act most often in romance dramas no matter if it’s queer or not.

Currently Watching:

Vice Versa - It was so good! I had so much fun watching it, and it kept me on my toes so far and nothing went quite how I expected it to. I adore Jimmy to pieces and I am excited to have him play a role I won’t starting hating partway through (cough Wai cough cough). That being said thus far him and Sea are overshadowed by my excitement to see Ohm and Nanon acting together again, and I am already extremely attached to their characters. They are just really fun to watch onscreen together. And Lay is adorable, I love him and wish him nothing but the best already. Also Forcebook!!!!!

Sky in Your Heart - I want it to be better than it is. I don’t dislike it per se, but it isn’t leaving a lasting impression for the most part - and that is saying something as I am quite easy to please. The last episode was really good though, so I am hopeful the finale will deliver.

Mama Gogo - This show is just fun, and I love seeing Earth get to play a different role than usual. Toptap is excellent, though I have a bit of a bias and really the whole cast is doing a great job.

Senpai This Can’t Be Love! - Japan continues to produce excellent content. I love how caring of each others feelings the leads are, and the humour is excellent, as per usual with Japan.

My Secret Love - I look forward to this show every week. I wouldn’t say it is good all the time, sometimes the tropes they lean into are irritating and the chancellor can fuck right off, but when the show nails the assignment it really delivers. I am enjoying all 3 main couples, and love how they have very different relationships and struggles. It is easy for shows with this many couples to feel redundant but My Secret Love never does. The less said about Tim the better though. I really dislike him. I am liking Mek more as the series goes on, but he still fucks up majorly every episode. Why was your apology to Tim so insincere when given to Tim himself and not to Kim?  Also the sisters should be a GL couple just saying.

Love Mechanics - It is messy and dramatic and oh so entertaining. I really root for MarkVee despite everything, in no small part thanks to spectacular jobs by both actors.

Want to See You - The episodes have been getting better recently, and it was never bad, just more soap opera than I am accustomed to. Thach and Phuc are really sweet together now that they are actually communicating. I’m not sold on how hard they have angled Nu into a villain - it seems she is competing with Namning and  Amy (La Cuisine and What Zabb Man) for ‘most ridiculously over the top cardboard spurned lover’ villain ever.

Cafe Minamdang - I am behind on this. I started it to fill the From Now on Showtime shaped hole in my heart, and it is doing it’s job, even though I don’t think it is quite as good.

Alchemy of Souls - Fun, indulgent little fantasy drama where my second lead syndrome is luckily mostly offset by my multishipping tendency.

Even Sun - The premise and cast could have made this very good, but it is just ok due to a dud of a script. The actors do their best and manage to somewhat salvage it, but we are halfway through the the two mains have had the same conversation with almost no variation each episode.

Extraordinary Attorney Woo - I love this! I adore her and she is so relatable, and even though our autism presents in some drastically different ways she makes me feel so seen.

46 Days - I still have to finish the last couple episodes of this. Pure crack and I cackle every episode. Though every time I watch I am struck by how much I would love Mild and Baifern to play a couple sometime, they play off each other really well.

Kanakana - I am having some trouble tracking down subbed eps which is frustrating. But this is one of my favourite dramas this year. It is so sweet, and I love the main character so much. I am also a sucker for tropes about misunderstood characters who look scary but are softies, so this gives me everything I want. It also gives me Yotsuba vibes.

I also just finished Kinnporsche, Triage, Kimi no Koto Dake Mite Itai, and TMS2. I enjoyed all of them, though the writing of Kinnporsche fell apart halfway through and the writing team made some highly questionable decisions, especially in the finale. I think they tried to do to much at once and ended up being satisfying with very little of it. Triage is so far not only the best show of 2022 so far, but one of my favourite shows ever. It was well plotted, with excellent gradual character reveals/development. I cannot recommend it highly enough. Kimi no Koto... was excellent, such a sweet coming of age story, albeit short. I liked TMS2 a lot, I waited till it was finished airing and binged it which helped with the pain. I also think I’m going to drop Check Out and just treat Ep 0 as a spin off, because I loved the pilot episode and the show is just... not good.

I do plan to start Colour Rush 2, Mystic Pop Up Bar, & Oh My Sunshine Night when I have time.

Rewatching:

I’m not really rewatching anything myself at the moment, but I am rewatching Bad Buddy with my cousin and I am going to start Triage with her soon, and then probably Not Me. And I convinced mom to watch ATOTS with me so that will be fun.

Looking Forward To:

Too many to list! But I am most excited for Moonlight Chicken, Art Adore En, The Uncanny Counter 2,  Never Let Me Go, The Eclipse, Gap, My Only 12%, Home School, She is Still Cute Today, Girlfriend Project Day 1, Cheese Sister, War of Y, and Six Characters

Hidden Love Series

A campy ghost bl series is what Hidden Love is.

This is a hidden gem that very few have watching. It's amazing actors with strong acting skills, on point humor but one fucked up plot. I mean it's all over the place. It makes no sense at all but I laughed so hard that I cried. I talked one of my besties into watching it and I think she has now talked five others into watching it as well. It's light, fun, and full of laughs.
