Why Yuuji’s domain is a manifestation of his desire to save Megumi:
Tumblr media
The hand symbol he used to open his domain is similar to the Mudra associated with Bodhisattva Kṣitigarbha, who is known as Bodhisattva Jizō (地蔵) in Japanese Buddhism.
In the common Japanese tradition, Bodhisattva Jizō is portrayed as the protector of the souls of children, who are condemned to stack piles of stones vainly on the banks of the Sanzu River (a mythological river in Japanese Buddhist tradition that one must cross to reach the afterlife), as these towers are repeatedly toppled. The legend has various versions. In one of the versions, the oni (demons) wreck the stone piles and torment the children, and the children seek haven with Bodhisattva Jizō who hides them inside his garment and comforts them. In another version, when the children pile stones at the 'Children’s Riverbed Hell', winds and flames are the agents knocking down the stone tower, and the flames reduce the children into cremated bones, to be revived back to whole by Bodhisattva Jizō.
It would not be an exaggeration to draw a comparison between the legend and the dynamic between Yuuji, Megumi and Sukuna: Megumi is one of those children at the riverbank, subjected to endless torment; Sukuna is the demon, the source of his torment; and Yuuji is the Bodhisattva, who has vowed to free those children from their torment, even at the cost of his own liberation (i.e. achieving Buddhahood).
We know that Domain Expansion is achieved by expanding one’s innate domain with cursed energy while using a barrier to construct it inside a separate space and that innate domain reflects one’s mind and soul. Saving Megumi has been Yuuji’s sole driving force, therefore it would not be an exaggeration either to assume that how he manifested his domain (i.e. the hand symbol for expanding it) is a reflection of his desire to save Megumi.

Who am I to you?
Part 1
King of Curses Ryomen Sukuna x afab reader x twin brother and Kingsguard Yuuji Itadori
Set in the Heian era, the twins, Ryomen and Yuuji, befriend a girl who they both fall in love with. But who will she choose when the time comes — the delinquent, tough Ryomen or the sweet, charming Yuuji?
so... anon requested a story and me being me, i replied to the request without posting the story. anyhoo, this is going to be a two-parter because the request gave me a lot to work with and i really wanted to establish the lore. part 2 would be up so so soon.
[edit: this is now a four-parter]

Growing up, you were the apple of their eyes. Both of theirs. You had watched them pull each other's hair, slap and punch each other, steal the other's food. You had also listened to Yuuji crying about how mean his brother was. And when you used to find Ryomen sneaking around in the kitchen, stealing Yuuji's favorite snack for his little brother, all you had to do was roll your eyes and train your ears to hear Ryo grumbling about how he was just fooling around and that he'd never do anything to hurt Yuuji on purpose.
Ryomen had made it a point to always refer to Yuuji as his little brother, even though they were born on the same day, from the same womb, killing the same mother as they each took their first breath. Ryo was only a moment early. Several years later, when he had heard from one of their maids how it was really a choice between their mother's life and that of baby Yuuji's, and it was ultimately their mother's decision to let her child live, Ryomen had made up his mind to always protect Yuuji and put him first, and in doing so, he had hoped to always be able to honor their mother's dying wish.
But putting Yuuji first meant taking a step back. Always. Even in matters of the heart. For, the twins always ended up liking the same things, even the same person.
You were the daughter of one of the handmaidens appointed for the twins' father's new wife. You had a type of clairvoyance. Even at the young age of ten, you could read other people's emotions aptly, you knew a person just from the sound of their footstep or their breathing. When you had first walked into the mansion, your tiny hand in your mother's determined grip, you were beyond confused by the duality of the twins. Yuuji wore his heart on his sleeve; you didn't need any special power to tell what was on his mind. Ryomen, on the other hand, you couldn't figure out even with your clairvoyance. And because of that, for the longest time, he became a subject of soul-crushing interest to you. Until he became the boy you feared.
Yuuji would get you flowers from his adventures, and concerns. He always came back with scratches and injuries left on his body for you to fix. He knew how to accept your care with open arms.
But, Ryomen? He had walls so high around him, it always got on your last nerve.
The Lord of the house was quick to replace the twins' mother with a woman who, in a year, had birthed a son. In a few years of time, it was clear who was going to be the successor. You still remember the look on Ryo's face when his stepmother held an elaborate ceremony and made his father declare that her son would be the next Lord. That boy grew up to be a monster, always picking on the girls and bullying the weak ones. One day, he had gone for you, blocking your path from the pond where you bathed back to the house. The more you tried to flee, the more aggressive and vile he became. Until someone, a towering figure, came up from behind him and pulled back his collar.
"Ryo!" You ran to your friend, hiding behind his muscly arm.
"Ah, brother!" The young Lord jested. "You know how it is. Women. Can't tolerate them and yet, can't go a day without them. You wouldn't stand in my way now, would you?”
"Of course not.”
You couldn't believe what you were hearing. Surely, Ryomen wouldn't let a stalker lay his hands on you. But when he stepped aside, and you looked up at his emotionless face, you couldn't be so certain anymore. You trembled, not from the water still dripping from your clothes or the wind that swept your hair onto your face but from fear of the approaching figure. He wasn't as big as Ryomen but you still wouldn't stand a chance against him. The only person you could think of at the moment, who would save you, and not stand aside and watch your demise, was Yuuji. You hated Ryo, despised every speck of his existence. How could he?
You shut your eyes tight as the boy came closer and closer. When you heard a grunt, you opened them to see him flying to the ground. Ryomen had punched his face.
"What in the world?" The Lord sat up, pulling backward on his butt. "I'm going to tell Otou-san on you. You scoundrel, how dare you?”
"Let me give you more to bitch about.”
You watched as Ryo almost leaped on to the boy, pinned him down and started to punch him. The Lord kicked his legs under Ryo's weight, trying to break free, scratched his exposed arms, but nothing budged him at all.
"How dare I?" You heard your friend. "How dare you? How dare you even look at her with those filthy eyes of yours? How dare you even think of touching her?" At the end of every question came a punch that landed straight on his half-brother's jaw, splattering blood to the side.
"Ryo." You called out to him. "Ryo, let him go. Ryo, that's enough. Come on now.”
"No." Another punch. "Not until he's dead." Another punch.
You stood there, shaking, and you didn't even notice when Yuuji appeared, tried to separate his brothers, failed and went running back to bring two servants to pull Ryo back. Only when Yuuji put his arms around you did you finally slump into him, immediately falling unconscious.
When you came around, you saw your mother and Yuuji by your bedside, your mother saying prayers to the Gods and thanking her Ryoryo-chan. "Where is he?" You asked your best friend.
"Otou-san has banished him to the outhouse. You should have been there for that argument.”
"Has he eaten? Did someone clean his wounds?”
"I tried," your mother informed you. "But he wouldn't even let me look at his arm. Ask Yuyu-chan. He's taken his pipe and shut the door on the world.”
You rushed out, Yuuji closely following. When you reached the cabin, you pounded away at the door until Ryomen responded, "Leave.”
"You know I won't. Not until you let me fix your wounds.”
"Go. Away.”
"Why?”
"Because I don't want you to see me like this.”
"Like what, Ryo?”
Before he could answer, Yuuji chimed in, "open the door, Aniki. Let us in.”
"Fuck off, you two.”
"Please." You begged. "Please let me– us see you.”
You heard the latch fall and pushed inside. The air was thick with the stench of burning grass. It made your eyes water. Yuuji kept the door open for the smoke to pass. You immediately got to work. Bringing a bucket and a washrag from the bathroom, you knelt by the bed where Ryo was sitting. "Show me," You said.
"Leave me alone.”
"Who slapped you?" You noticed the red impression of fingers on his cheek. Your fingers rushed to touch it, heal it if you could.
"My father's wife.” Ryo nudged your hand away.
"You mean, your mother?”
"She's not my mother. Your mother is more of a mother to me than my father's wife will ever be.”
You sighed. "Fine. Now, give me your hand.”
"Don't be such a drag, Aniki." Yuuji sat down beside him. "Everything will be fine. And if it isn't, we three will run away together. We'll have a small house on the hills with a tea shop in the front. You and I will go work in the tea farms and she will sell tea to any traveler or tourist or anyone passing by. We'll all be fine. I promise.”
Ryo let out a small smile and patted his brother's cheek. Sighing, he placed his hand in yours, the blood on his knuckles dry and raised. "Did you really need to do this to yourself?”
"Or what? Let that son of a wench have his way with you?”
"I thought that's what you intended, the way you…”
"You maim my heart, woman. You really thought I'd let a vulture have you while I'm still alive and standing?" This was the first time he called you a woman and not a little girl. Maybe knowing another man wanted you made him see you as a woman.
"Aniki, you scared her. You know that, right? I know you were enraged but…”
"That's alright. She can stomach it.”
You looked up to meet Ryomen's gaze, intense and wanting. But wanting for what?
"She fainted, Aniki.”
"That's because she doesn't eat." Ryo smirked. "Yuuji, why don't you go and get some food for all of us?”
You held your breath as Yuuji walked out the door, the ever so compliant, sweet and understanding younger brother, and you were left alone with the tough, delinquent, taller, smirking, challenging older one. You kept cleaning Ryo's hands, your cheeks tepid and chest flushed with all the blood in your body. He grabbed your wrist in an iron grip, bringing it to his lips. He didn't kiss it, just held it there like he was craving your touch.
"I'll become so strong and powerful, bugs like him would think twice, thrice, several times before even looking at you. You'll have nothing to be scared of. Ever.”
You nodded, smiling. Ryo's gaze was so soft at that moment; it was almost a gateway to his soul. For the first time in a decade, when you touched his hand, you could almost tell what he was feeling. His guards were down; he was letting you in on all his secrets. Your fear of him from earlier had dissipated completely, replaced by a warmth you had never felt before. For anyone else. Was this love? The same love your mother had always told you about? She had said, it'd feel just right, that your palm would fit into theirs and their smell would be something you'd recognize even if you were blindfolded.
It did feel right. To know that Ryomen would protect you gave you a sense of relief. You somehow knew the warmth in your heart was reciprocated by him. And for that, you were both grateful and scared.
Your faces inched closer, your heartbeat like a war drum in your ears, but before he could bridge the gap between your trembling lips and his open, smirking mouth, screams from outside the house startled you.
"Bring out the wench," the people shouted.
"Set her on fire.”
"What a disgrace! She seduced the young Lord.”
"Such a shame!”
"No, that is not what happened." You heard your mother trying to defend you, going out of her usual vocal range of what was considered a meek woman. "No, listen, please. My daughter would never. She has grown up in front of your eyes. You know the kind of girl she is.”
You rushed to the doorway, and Ryomen followed. When the people saw you, their screams only grew louder. "Burn her," they said. "Burn her." All of them were servants and guards of the house, colleagues of your mother, people who had once told you that you were just like their own daughter. Their jostling pushed your mother to the ground and you couldn't help but descend into the mob. You heard Ryo's pleas for you to stay back but you couldn't let your mother be victim to a stampede.
The people cornered you, separated you and your mother from Ryo. He tried to push his way through but there were just so many people.
"Answer our questions, wench. Why did you try to besmirch the good young Lord's name and reputation?”
"Weren't you scared for your own good?”
"Who will marry you now that you've given your body up to the young Lord?”
"I will." The answer silenced the whole crowd. With tears in your eyes, you looked up. You knew the voice. The soft yet determined voice that rarely took no for an answer. Your best friend who you always confided in, who knew everything about you. Well, almost everything.
Yuuji came forward and took your hands in his. Several mouths gasped put loud at his gesture. You turned your gaze to where Ryo was standing and saw his face, ashen, like he just realized he'd made a grave mistake.
"I..." Yuuji clasped your hand tighter. "I wanted to talk to you about this for a long time but... I... I also wanted to wait until I had a proper job. But seeing these people vilify you like this, I thought this was the right time. I know what actually happened and that you're an honest woman. What am I saying? Even if you weren't, and if I had your consent, of course, there's nothing I'd like more than having a family with you. What... what do you think? Well you don't have to answer rightaway. Obviously, you need to talk to Okaa-san and I need to talk to Aniki. And…”
"Yuuji," You stopped him from continuing to badger. "I... I don't know what to say." What could you have said that wouldn't have hurt him, and destroyed your decade-long friendship?
You turned your head again, only to see Ryo heading back inside the shed he had been banished to. You needed to know what he was thinking. Did he really have nothing to say?
The crowd was disappearing, disappointed that their bullying had no satisfactory conclusion. You sent Yuuji and your mother back too before rushing to Ryo.
Just as you had feared, you saw him packing clothes and essentials into a bag you had once sewn together for him. "Ryo, what are you doing?" You asked but there was no answer. "Ryo? Ryo?" You followed him around as he picked up more things from around the room. "Ryo, talk to me. Please.”
"Congratulations are in order, I suppose."
"What? No! Ryo, stop." You stood in between him and the doorway. But he was too strong. He picked you up and sat you down on the bed before starting to head out. "Why are you leaving?”
"I have no place here, not now at least.”
"What–”
"Tell me, woman." He turned to you, his bag slinging from his broad shoulder. "Who am I to you?”
You scoffed. As if, that could be put into words. He was the boy who walked behind when Yuuji showed you around town, looking out for any signs of terror. He was the boy who filleted fish for you because he knew you hated chewing on bones. He was the man who almost killed the bastard that wished to consume you. He not only had your heart, you were ready to sacrifice your soul for him.
"See?" He scoffed too.
"What am I to you?" Your question paused him in his tracks. He turned and smiled. Not a smirk, a genuine smile. A melancholic smile. "If it is so easy to put into words, you do it then. What am I to you?”
"A reason.”
Ryomen was already gone before you could interrogate him further. At the time, you had no idea that'd be the last you saw of him, the real him. You sat there, for who knew how long, grieving your friendship, your love, your innocence – all gone in a single day – before Yuuji came back with a tray of food.
"Where's Aniki?" He asked, setting it down.
You composed yourself before answering, lying, "I don’t know. He was gone by the time I came back.”
"Are you–?" Yuuji crouched down in front of you, holding your hands again. There was a lot of eagerness in his grasp, a little impatience too. "Are you still tensed about what happened out there?”
You nodded, sniffling and rubbing off the tears you shed for his brother with the back of your hand.
"Don't worry. They can't hurt you. Not while I'm here. And..." He sensed your concern. "It has got nothing to do with my question, okay? Even if you say no, that's okay too. I'll still always be there for you. Always.”
"What am I to you?”
"What?”
"Yuuji, what am I to you?" You needed to know if there was a simple answer to this question.
He looked around, as if the answer was in the room. When he couldn't find it, he said, "You... You are my best friend. Is that enough?”
"Yes.”
"Great! Now, come, eat something please.”
"No, Yuuji, I meant, yes.”
His eyes grew wider, finally realizing what you meant. "Yes?”
You nodded. "Yes, I'll marry you.”
Until that moment, you weren't sure if this was such a good idea. Even when you actually uttered the word. But the beaming smile on Yuuji's face made it all worth it. All of it, even knowing that your best friend was going to marry a woman who will always love another man more.

You know what's something? It's just hitting me... Sukuna treats Yuji as a person contrasting to how everyone else was just entertainment to him. He hates him for who he is, not what he can do.
Sukuna loathes that Yuji's sense of mortality. He despises Yuji's resolve to fight because he's selfless. Not once Yuji ever acknowledges Sukuna other than an annoyance and he certainly only sees Sukuna as just another curse that needs to be put down.
Like, it's just crazy to me that Sukuna is so blinded by his ego that he won't and can't admit that Yuji is a threat to him. Yuji was literally born to be a threat to him (because ain't no way Kenjaku birthed a baby that could cage Sukuna) and Sukuna knows this!
Let's be honest! Had anyone else be hitting those Black Flashes, Sukuna would be grinning and praising that person. But no! It's Yuji, who could honestly care less about being praised.
Reason, for me, that Sukuna won't admit that Yuji is a threat to him is because Yuji being a contradiction to his beliefs would be Sukuna admitting that he (Sukuna) is wrong.
Yuji's very existence is a slap to Sukuna's face and he hates it.

Woke up today to some wild jjk leaks and it turns out Gege is hitting that Hamlet type beat with some uncle-nephew drama with Sukuna and Yuuji? Like what?
Tumblr media
By the gods Kenjaku really be messing with that family tree. And this still doesn't explain why Itadori Wasuke looks so much like Sukuna? Like with Jin and Yuuji it makes sense now...but what about grandpadori? Something must've been up with that family even before the Kenjaku and his shenanigans.
It truly is our Jujutsu Kaisen! Amen.

Would you consider the making a fic where the Kusozu Brothers react to Canon or meeting canon?
I'd just like to sincerely apologise for how long this took, I truly am so sorry. I started writing as soon as you sent this, and went through about seven drafts before I realised that I'm really not good enough to write ten characters meeting alternate versions of themselves-- so I hope you'll accept Sukuna's Exploits in Canon and the headcanons beneath the cut!
Choso
Choso hates almost everyone in canon.
He hates the coach from episode 1;
"Why is he, as a schoolteacher, blackmailing students, making bets with them and changing what club you signed up for??? CREEP!
Megumi,
"Why does he have to be in this?"
Sorcerers,
"EXECUTED?!"
Gojo,
"IN HIS BASEMENT??????"
Nobara,
"You're not an idiot, Otouto, don't listen to her."
Junpei,
"If he just listened to you (Yuuji) he wouldn't have traumatised you by dying!"
Todo,
Now at first he liked Todo. He knows that's Yuki's younger brother for one, and on top of that the first thing Todo does is try to beat Megumi half to death
"Omg I love that kid."
When Yuuji and Todo fight, things start to slip a bit..
"I like that kid way less now."
And when Todo calls Yuuji brother.......
"I hate that kid now. Who does he think he is? I'm your big brother. Not him. You already have Eso, why do you need another tall, tan, muscular brother??"
Yuuji: Well--
Sukuna: Well nothing, whip me out, I'll show him whose 'buraza' you are.
Choso likes Nanami though.
When his brothers are like "??? Just like that?" he goes:
"I liked it when he said that Yuuji's the child and he's the adult. It seems like, though he;s endeared by Yuuji, he still maintains and appropriate and professional distance with him. And he's protecting you two (Sukuna and Yuuji) while we're off doing whatever it is we're doing.
Which begs the question! What are they doing?
When the death paintings are introduced, Choso is excited! And then the fight happens. Way less excited.
If they were watching JJK as a tv show, this is where Choso stops watching. They can try to make him come back all they like, Choso is NOT standing for it. Even if they get him to watch s2, as soon as he sees Gojo he's leaving.
If they made him see himself... I think he'd break the TV as soon as he struck Yuuji for the first time
And if they showed him his final scene, I think he'd weep in relief. And be excited that Yuki rocked up!
Eso
For the whole of season one, he's waiting for his debut.
"This is so boring when do we show up?"
"Imagine if Yuuji left us back in Sendai."
"If I were there Junpei would've lived. Just saying."
"UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"
"Bring me in I'll shut Sukuna up."
BUT! There are some highlights for him. Such as:
Nanami.
Eso, licking his lips: You reckon he's (Nanamin's) ever been outta the country?
Yuuji: Eso-nii you are NOT fucking my train bestie.
Eso: "I'll take you to Malaysia baby."
Megumi!
During the fight with Todo he's cheering him on hard out.
"Yeah get him Megumi!! Finish summoning whatever that is, I've been seeing it! Actually do it this time! 4th time's the charm! Beat his ass!!" (It's his Mahoraga fists)
Other than that, it's been a dull watch for him.
Until they appear!:
Eso: FINALLY!
Kechizu: it’s us!!!!!! Niichan why do you look like you haven’t slept in 100 years
Sukuna: Wdym, he looks the exact same
Yuuji: I hate to say it, Choso-nii, but… he’s right.
Choso: They’re not that bad.. (pulls out his phone to check)
Choso:
Choso: Oh.
Eso: Hey wait, why are we asking why Niisan looks like that, when we should be asking..
Kechizu: Shut up
Eso: Why YOU look like THAT
Yuuji: Ooooo I love the body horror
Kechizu: !!? BODY HORROR!
Sukuna: He looks cooler than you do.
Yuuji: I look the same though?
Sukuna: yeah exactly
And when the Yuuji and Nobara vs Eso and Kechizu fight starts:
Eso: Oooooooou we’re gonna fight, Yuu-chan! Money’s on me, this protag’s been winning too many fights lately
Kechizu: His friend literally just died. And Todo beat him up.
Eso: Still, in the end everything was fine. I’m sure once Yuuji uses his ‘I’m your brother’ cursed technique, we’ll stop fighting and everything will be A-OK!
Sukuna: Yuuji should use my power to put you down like the dog you are
Eso: Your reputation couldn’t handle how hard I’d whoop your ass
And when it ends:
Eso, mouth open, jaw dropped, flies coming out, pissed: It’s rigged. It’s rigged! I would 100% win a fight against Yuuji, and I’ll prove it right now
Unfortunately for him, by this point Yuuji is too busy being cradled by a wildly sobbing Choso.
He does NOT want to watch the show after he dies. But when he hears Gojo gets sealed and Choso's gonna show up, he makes a concession for those episodes.
Eso: Gayest death scene in the whole show, tops Junpei's by miles.
Yuuji: He's not even dead!!!!
Now he insists he won't watch till Choso's on, but when he sees Nanami's new look... Let's just say he's sat for Dull Knife.
Eso: Yuuji I love you. I love you so much. You're my babiest of brothers. I'll always love you. But for fucks sake you did NOT deserve to be the one to meet Nanami out of all of us!!!
Yuuji: ?! Kechizu did too?!
Eso: And I'm still pissed NEITHER of you introduced him to me. Like?????? Have you seen the man???????????????? When he gets back from Malaysia he'll literally be my ideal type. I hate you two.
Eso: --and so, not only would it be neglect, but it would also be legally wrong of you not to introduce him to me.
Yuuji: NO!
Eso: AND HIS NAME IS:::: ZENIN TOJIIII! (John Cena theme plays from his phone)
Yuuji: You HATED him! You hated him before this!
Eso: And now for the purposes of the show I love him! Uncle-in-law!
Kechizu: Wow… I really should’ve remembered Nanami, huh?
Yuuji: ENOUGH!
Sukuna: Brat, even you can admit he’s hot. Look how they drew him. It’s softcore porn, beatdown edition.
Eso: Hey do you have his phone number?
Yuuji: NO!
Choso: Good.
Eso: I’ll come with you to and from school next time. I should thank him.
Yuuji: BACK!!! OFF!!!
Kechizu: Yeah! Leave some for the rest of us! Yuuji and Choso: NO!
Kechizu: I thought you liked him, Oniichan!
Choso: Well yes, but…
Sukuna: Don’t tell me your type is blonds…
Choso: I only like the one blonde…… Maybe a second one now, but–
Yuuji: CAN EVERYONE STOP HITTING ON NANAMIN?
And then Choso's episode!!:
Contrary to everyone else in the room, Eso's enjoying himself.
Eso: AND THEN HIT HIM WITH THE RIGHT HOOK! AND THEN SUPERNOVA HIM! AND THEN DIVERGENT FIST TO THE STOMACH! AND THEN SLICE HIM WITH A BLOOD BLADE! AND THEN--
By the middle-end area he quietens down out of respect for the... Mourners.
Choso, crying, can’t watch his fight scene: JUST REALISE!!! IT CAN’T BE THAT HARD!!! I HAVE A BLOOD TECHNIQUE!!!!!!!!
Sukuna: YUUJI! USE ME! WHIP! ME! OUT! YUUJI FOR FUCKS SAKES–!
Kechizu: DON’T HIT HIM HE’S JUST A BABY!!!!!! YOUR BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Eso, visibly disturbed: I think you should all step out for a minute...
As soon as he gets the sense that Nanami's about to die, he leaves.
Eso: I'm not watching that shit! Call me when Niisan gets back.
Kechizu
tries to cover the twins' eyes when there's violence
it doesn't work because, in the beginning, show!Sukuna IS the violence
Very vocally dislikes Gojo, always takes an issue with whatever he has to say or do.
Kechizu: 'ten seconds' what a creep. Sukuna'll teach him a lesson when he gets all his fingers back.
Kechizu: Executed??? What a pushover! If he's so powerful he should just kill the higher ups.
As soon as Kamo Noritoshi's name is said during the sexchange event arc, Kechizu is piping up
Kechizu: DAD???????
He's 100% convinced their father has been deaged and put into the Kyoto school
Cries when Eso dies, but is willing to watch the rest of the show because Yuuji and Sukuna are in it!
(lives to regret that^)
Interestingly enough, though, he enjoys the hidden inventory arc
cheers when Toji sells Megumi and kills Gojo, but when Kusozu Sukuna defends Geto, suddenly he has an issue with mr Fushiguro and 'see, Yuuji, this is why you need to break up with that boy'
when Sukuna starts killing people in Shibuya (indirectly after the first few kills since he's fighting Jogo), Kechizu spends 90% of the episode defending him
Kechizu: they should've just moved if they didn't want to get exterminated! What's stopping them?!
Sukuna: I'm saying!
Yuuji: THE BARRIER!
Chokes on his snacks when he sees the flashback to Kamo Noritoshi, points at the screen wildly and concocts the most batshit insane theory that Choso and Eso (who are no longer watching at this point) believe wholeheartedly
Kechizu: So you see, Dad must have a duplicate technique that requires a brainswap, and he's clearly split his consciousness between Kemo Noritoshi and Geto's body, and so he was the real mole this whole time. Ignore that puppet kid in the bath, he's a decoy.
Choso: I see
Eso: It's all coming together
Yuuji: ?????????????
Sukuna, lying: You're so right. I see it now. Are you sure you didn't write the show yourself, Keke Akusotami?
When Yuki pulls up he's the only brother other than Choso that's happy to see her
Kechizu: OH THANK FUCK! GET THEM YUKI!!!!!!!
Sukuna
Endlessly entertained by himself at first
His favourite line is Show!Sukuna's very first words: "WHERE ARE THE WOMEN? THE CHILDREN?!"
It took him 15 minutes to stop laughing and another 10 to actually process what else was going on in the show
During the prison episode he's still kind of amused when Show!Kuna just straight up kills Yuuji. The only things that irk him are:
Sukuna: I don't like how I'm lookin at Fushiguro right now.
Sukuna: 'show me something special' he doesn't have anything special
Sukuna: Why couldn't I have killed all three of them??
Doesn't like Nanami. He doesn't hate him or anything, he just has no interest in him.
(Secretly, he's been holding a grudge ever since Nanami said he didn't acknowledge Yuuji as a sorcerer)
When Junpei dies, Sukuna feels kind of bad, but only because Kusozu Yuuji is crying so hard
Sukuna: I wouldn’t laugh like that if he died. Not in front of you. Probably in private. Maybe at the funeral. If you ran off crying. Or if you didn’t then I’d do it silently. This is just overkill, really. Ha, overkill. Get it? Cause he got killed… Over top of you. But yeah I wouldn’t laugh in your face, that's crazy. Like you are now. Cause your friend’s de–
Eso: Bro..
Kechizu: Sukuna-kun I think you made your point!!
After that he's less eager to see himself.
But he still insists Yuuji "whip him out" every time there's trouble. Like when he's being bullied by the Tokyo school for coming back from the dead; fighting Todo, Hanami, making eye contact with Gojo-- all worthy of the wrath of the king of curses
When the death painting arc starts::
Eso: Oooooooou we’re gonna fight, Yuu-chan! Money’s on me, this protag’s been winning too many fights lately
Kechizu: His friend literally just died. And Todo beat him up.
Eso: Still, in the end everything was fine. I’m sure once Yuuji uses his ‘I’m your brother’ cursed technique, we’ll stop fighting and everything will be A-OK!
Sukuna: Yuuji should use my cursed technique to put you down like the dog you are
Eso: Your reputation couldn’t handle how hard I’d whoop your ass
But by the time the arc is ending, Sukuna is getting a liiiiitle, small, tiny, teensy bit sad. Mostly because Kechizu is bawling his eyes out.
Sticks around for the next arc! All the Kusozu brothers leave after the first five minutes, unwilling to watch anymore, leaving only Sukuna and Yuuji. But first::
Choso: Why do we have to see this irrelevant’s lifestory? (Gojo’s)
Eso: This perv again..
Kechizu: I hope his boyfriend dies.
Sukuna: That’s dark. Not me. That’s sensei right there. I hope his girl friend dies.
Yuuji: She doesn’t die you idiot she’s literally in season 1
Sukuna: And season 1 comes before season 2, I’m not the idiot here.
Yuuji:
Hidden Inventory becomes Sukuna's favourite arc pretty quickly! It only loses its spot when Megumi appears at the end
Eso: GET HIM TOJI!!! YES!!!!!!!
Yuuji: You guys are just doing it to irritate me at this point, ‘cause there’s no way you hate him this much
Kechizu: HE DID IT!!!! HE KILLED HIM!!!!!!
Yuuji: You know he comes back, right??
Sukuna: SHUT UP BUZZKILL WE’RE TRYING TO SAVOUR THE MOMENT!
Yuuji: Choso-nii why are you pausing…
Choso: (takes a picture of Gojo’s ‘dead’ body)
Yuuji:
Hates the filler ep, wants to get back to the killing people part, that was his favourite
He's excited for the Shibuya incident, so much so that he almost doesn't notice he hasn't spoken a single word all season
He's hurling abuse at the TV during the choso vs yuuji ep, but then again he's hurling abuse at the TV no matter what episode is playing
He's convinced that if Show!Yuuji just gives him control, everything will be fine!
(He's wrong. He's so deeply wrong.)
Has the time of his life during the Sukuna takeover eps
Actually giggled (half of it was out of shock!) when Nanako and Mimiko got killed (HE WOULD! I'M SORRY BUT HE WOULD!!
Does a victory lap around the room during the Jogo fight
Sukuna: GET HIM! SLICE HIM AGAIN! FUCK THE DOCOMO TOWER! FUCK THOSE CARS! THAT'S WHAT IM TALKIN ABOUT!!!!!! NOW HIT HIM WITH THE-- what the fuck-- WHAT THE FUCK! FUUGA?!?!?! FUUGA!!!!!!!!
Sukuna: Why am I saving Fushiguro again? He's the one who decided to kill himself, how is that my problem??
He only calms down a bit once Show!Yuuji comes back and has a breakdown.
Pretends to be totally unaffected but secretly presses his knee to Yuuji's
Sukuna: all that and I still didn't get Kenjaku? Really?
Yuuji: Who's Kenjaku???
Sukuna, who got bored after his eps and looked up spoilers to pass the time: ...........

Who am I to you?
Part 2
King of Curses Ryomen Sukuna x afab reader x twin brother and Kingsguard Yuuji Itadori
Yuuji is married to the love of his life, not knowing that he might not be the love of her life. And what happens when a mysterious entity stomps (back) into their lives? Is he blessing or a curse?
There's a backstory. And, there will be a part 3.
Tumblr media
Minors, DNI. WC: 4.7k
CW: talk of pregnancy, inability to conceive, PIV sex, oral (m and f receiving), creampie, breeding, menstruation, murder, violence, physical abuse (itty bitty), and just a lot of angst and yearning
Tumblr media
"You're here again?"
In the years following Ryomen's disappearance, your favorite spot to retreat to when everything around you becomes overwhelming, is the pond. You sit on the staircase, letting the water kiss your feet and over time, prune your toes like the skin of a date fruit. Something about the movements of the waterbody, the slow wind sending ripples in motion, the sting and the chill of the night air, is so calming, it often brings you to tears. Tears you shed for nobody else.
Your husband always finds you though. You know he knows where you flee to but he always gives you ample time to compose yourself before coming to find you. Yuuji has been a gift for the last few years, tending to your every need, caring for you even though you sometimes lose yourself to the nostalgia of your adolescence. You love him. Of course, you do. You'd have been a fool not to give your heart to this man.
He's so sincere in the way he loves you. Even four years after the wedding, there has not been a single day when he demanded gratitude for saving your dignity in front of the townspeople. He still gets you flowers every day and on days, he gets sent away on duties, he moves you and your mother to a safehouse he built by himself to keep you away from the new Lord of the house.
"I've been looking everywhere for you," he lies as he settles down behind you, his knees on your sides. You lean against him and he kisses the top of your head.
"But I'm right here," you joke.
He looks over at the pond. The moon's light reflects on the rippling water, flaunting its slender waxing crescent. "You know, my love, the Moon seems to be saying something."
You know what he's talking about. "Really? What might that be?"
"That I should take my wife to bed. Shall we heed to the Moon's suggestions, my darling?"
He makes you giggle. You rest your head against his chest, giving him access to the soft and sensitive flesh of your neck. Yuuji runs his long fingers over your skin and you smile with relief. "You smell like home," he whispers. "You are home."
Yuuji leads you back into the guards' quarters, up the stairs and into the room you two share. "May I?" He asks, his fingers mere inches away from the knots that hold together your furisode.
You link your arms around your husband's neck and nod. He smiles, putting a firm kiss on your temple, grins as he eventually lands on your lips. He still gets goofy and shy, even after all this time. You work on the ties of his jinbei, pushing it over his shoulders. You push down the pants and cup the front of his fundoshi. Yuuji hums into your mouth as you continue kissing him, stroking him. His strong, labor beaten hands are on your hips, squeezing your soft skin. His breath is jittery, eyelashes shut tight in anticipation of your next move.
You lead him to your conjugal bed and sit down. Untying the knots behind his back, you let him free. "My sweet love," he chokes on his whisper as you take him in his mouth, a little bit at first, kissing and licking your way down the stem, and then in his entirety. Yuuji rests his hand on the back of your head, fixing your loose hair in place. Water sprouts at the corners of eyes as his length hits the back of your throat. He's long, not as girthy, but hits you in all the right places. He's sweet in his lovemaking, understands and prioritizes your needs over his. But you realized this very early in your marriage that when you take the lead, he is more at ease.
"Aah, my love," he moans, his grip in your hair tightening. "You're so... You're so good to me. You're so good for me. Aah. Oh. Love, let me... let me please you."
You fall back on the bed, your robes opening up to expose yourself to your husband. Yuuji kneels and dips his head in between your thighs. His mouth finds your clitoris easily; he knows his way around your body. His sincerity shines through as he eats you. All you can do is tremble and moan under his ministration, clutch his pink hair in between your fingers. "Yuu... Yuu... come here, will you?"
Yuuji heeds to your command. Cradling your head, he kisses you. His body presses against yours as he slides in. "Do you... think we'll be lucky tonight?"
You two have been trying to have a baby for over a year now. You've tracked your cycle down to the science, you've been cooking the healthiest meals for your husband and yourself, you've gone to temples to pray so you may bear a child even though you're almost certain you're an atheist.
Better not to put pressure on ourselves, my darling, that is what you want to tell him but you don't want to dampen his enthusiasm either. So you say, "I'm sure we will, love."
Your words reinvigorate Yuuji. He smooches your lips before rising to his knees. Hitching the heels of your feet over his shoulders, he gets to work. You watch as his sculpted hips roll against yours, feel him inside you, hard and pulsating, optimistic about filling you up with at least one offspring. His fingers curl around the soft give of your thighs as he thrusts, his breath all over the place, pink hair stuck to his forehead with sweat.
He's a vision when he makes love to you. A vision of delusion. For, most nights, you don't see your husband on top of you. It's him, all right, his body and his hands and his tongue but the only thing that brings you to climax each of these nights is the image of another man glued to the back of your eyelids. You've scared yourself to death on some peculiar nights when, as soon as Yuuji's head hits the pillow beside yours, spent, skin glowing from the aftermath of his pleasure, you turn to him and see Ryomen.
It's immoral, even thinking of another man in your conjugal bed. But you fear you'll forget Ryomen's face if you don't bring him to the front of your mind in these debauched ways. But, for how much longer can you keep this up? There will be a day when you won't be able to recall even the image of his lips closing in on yours on the day he left.
A reason, he had said. A reason for what?
"Everything alright, my love?"
You turn and your heart leaps into your throat. It's only Yuuji.
Yuuji touches the side of your face as he settles beside you. You didn't even realize when he was done. "Was I being too rough?" He asks.
You shake your head, calming yourself down. "No, no, I'm only concentrating on... keeping it all... inside."
Yuuji scrunches his nose. "You know, my dear, when you put it like that, it takes all the romance out of it."
You chuckle, letting your husband pull you into an embrace. "It can be a little clinical, I suppose."
"I promise it'll be relieving once we have our little bundle of joy with us," he says it so lightheartedly but you know he's been worrying about this all the time. He's the one who proposed having a child, the one who plans the trips to the temples, shops for the freshest vegetables and fruits for you, and if there's anybody who's more in pain than you when the bleeding starts, it's him. Maybe, you've often thought to yourself, he wishes to compensate his own father's misdemeanor by being a good father himself.
Tumblr media
It has been a long time since the last emergency at the Itadori mansion so to say you were amazed when you were woken up by scattered screaming and fleeting footsteps outside your door, would be an understatement. The sunlight is slanting through the blinds of your window. Your husband is not beside you — must be up and about with his morning duties. You had bled the night before, dampening all of Yuuji's hopes again. But he had put up a smile for your sake and said, "We'll try next time, dear."
But what is this commotion?
You leave your bed lazily, taking slow steps to the door lest you may stain all your garments. Guards and servants are running around outside, as if for their lives, parents are carrying their children, some are leaving the establishment through the back door. You pull one of the familiar faces by their wrist. "What is going on?"
"There's a monster on the prowl. He's headed in the direction of the mansion. Pack your things. Leave a note for Yuuji, he'll find you later."
"A monster?"
"Yes. Huge, huge monster. With four arms and a ghastly face. He has a trident too."
Your acquaintance leaves you more confused than she found you. With a determination to find out the truth and also look for your husband, you wrap a robe around your shoulders and step out. The courtyard is jostling with people, guards and servants and guests alike; your once familiar playspace has become a foreign refugee camp. You spot Yuuji by the gates, welcoming anxious townspeople.
"What are you doing out here, my love?" He asks as soon as he sees you walking toward him, screaming over the chaos. He takes you by the arm. "Go to your mother's room and stay there. I'll be with you as soon as we figure out what this thing is."
"What is it about a monster?" You scream back.
Yuuji sighs. "I haven't seen it yet but we've received news that a huge, unrecognizable beast with four arms is on its way here."
"Here? Toward the mansion? So why is everyone gathering here? Shouldn't we be trying to escape?"
"We'll be safe here. The walls are high and the gates have recently been reinforced. Don't—"
Before Yuuji can finish his thought, the chaos around you crescendoes. The single line of people entering the Lord's establishment breaks off into multiple distributaries, and people start scattering in any direction they can find. There's a loud thump just outside, like a mountain just crash landed on the lawn outside.
There's a long pause between the thump and the next, as if the monster is waiting for everyone to settle before making an entrance. When the crowd at the gate has finally thinned, you, bravely, stick your neck out from behind your husband to catch a glimpse of the fabled beast.
A wind rises out of nowhere, lifting the usual smells of the mansion and the village up and away, and introduces something new in the air. No, not something new. Something familiar. The smell of a boy's sweat, mixed with the rain he got drenched in because he refused to use a parasol and the dirt he trained his muscles in.
Ryo. Your heart cries out from within your ribcage.
"Make way for the King of Curses." You hear a voice you don't recognize.
Yuuji guards you with one arm. His other hand seizes the hilt of the sword at his belt, ready to take action. Everyone, including you, holds their breath, waiting for the beast to appear.
With thundering footsteps, a mighty figure crosses the threshold of the court. Your breath catches in your throat. Your soul knows it's Ryomen but your eyes disagree. The towering height, four arms, thick black marks and ghastly mask aside, he looks nothing like the boy who left you. Is it really him? Is there even a semblance left of the Ryo you gave your heart to?
Before you can test your theory, the young Lord of the house stomps his way out of his mansion. Even with shaky breath at the sight of the giant, he stands his ground. "How dare... you step foot in my... my home?"
"Payback." The monster growled. There's a shadow of a voice you remember, heavily laced with another, more evil, vibratto that is unknown to you.
Like an unannounced storm, the dirt at the beast's feet rises and he leaps to where the Lord is standing, immediately grabbing him by the throat. The puny human, in his comparison, struggles to breathe but kicks in his defence nonetheless. His guards swarm the assailant, poking his thick skin with their weapons. The monster swats them away like tsetse flies with his second set of hands.
"Go to your mother's room." Yuuji pushes you back, trying his best to keep you away from what he saw as only a new curse fallen upon your daily lives. "We'll escape as soon as I find a way out of here. Go. Now."
You loosen your grasp on his arm and start tiptoeing in the direction of the quarters, your eyes fixed on the monster's form. It is Ryo. It has to be. Your heart wants to cry out his name, run into his embrace and complain to him like you used to before. Does he not recognize you? Why did he not look for you?
"Let... me... go," the Lord gurgles up through his pinched windpipe. His thrashes are growing weaker by the moment, the light from his eyes slowly being dragged out in a court full of audience.
The woman is tired so the little girl in you comes forward to take the reins. She somehow believes only you can stop him. But you're a moment too late. By the time you muster up the courage to call out his name, Ryomen has already succeeded in taking the Lord's life with his one bare hand.
"Ryo!" You scream out.
He drops the body from his grip. You know he has heard you because the eyes on his mask meet yours. You can feel several other eyes on you as well, including Yuuji's. He's confused, you can tell.
But there is no time to worry about the reactions your stunt has garnered. You start to walk toward the monster. You're only a few steps in when a sharp hit lands on your cheek, knocking you down. No hand comes to your help; everyone around is cemented in place with fear and in your husband's case, fury.
"It's Sukuna-sama for you." It's the same unfamiliar voice as before that had announced Ryomen's entry. Their words are momentarily followed by a sharp cry for help.
You look up as soon as you habituate yourself to the sting on your cheek. Ryomen, or Sukuna, or whoever the beast is, is holding the kimono-wearing, short haired person up by the scruff of their neck.
"Sukuna-sama, please. Please," they bargain for their life.
"Stick to your job, Uraume," Sukuna growls. "Lest you may lose an arm or worse, your tongue. You're no use to me if you can't chant." He lets them go, like a playtoy he's growing weary of. "Prepare my quarters. Ready the town for my coronation. Appoint my court of guards. Those are your duties. Keep yourself busy with them. Understood?"
"Ye– yes, Sukuna-sama. My apologies." They take a deep bow before facing you again.
Yuuji rushes to stand between you and Uraume but your sight is fixed on the wandering eyes of Sukuna. You're even more convinced now that it's Ryomen. With a hand on your cheek, you rise to your feet and boldly call for him again. “Ryo!” He stops. His assistant looks furious but helpless in front of their master. “Ryo, it’s me… and Yuuji. Ryo!”
“What are you doing?” Your husband stops you. “It’s not Aniki.”
“It is. Can’t you see? It’s him. Ryo!”
Some other townspeople come over and try to calm you down. “Do you have a death wish? Didn’t you see how he mercilessly killed the Lord?”
Uraume clears their throat, garnering the attention of the crowd. “The Lord you once served is dead. Sukuna-sama is now your King and your God. His wishes are orders for you all to follow. If any of you dare to disobey him, well... you just witnessed what the consequences can be. Who, might I ask, is the head of the household staff?"
"That would be me."
Heads turn to where the voice comes from. Your mother has come out of her room and with the support of her cane and a girl much younger to you, stands in between the monster and the people. Her vision has become much weaker over the last few years; she insists she can get by just fine but you grow worrisome every time she squints, stumbles against walls and drops things because she placed them at the edge of the table. If there was any residual doubt about the King of Curses being Ryomen in your mind, they're washed away when your mother, even with her blurry eyesight, asks the monster, "Will Ryoryo-chan like his old room back?"
The giant's jaw tightens. He's been caught red-handed. He can deny you but you know, he cannot deny the only woman who has given him a mother's love. But before he can respond, Utahime barges in. "I'll be taking a look at the room before deciding—"
"No need. I'll take it." Sukuna interrupts.
The crowd flocks to the shrunken body of the Lord of the past, and you and your husband eun to your mother. You run into her arms, crying, "Okaa-san, Okaa-san! Ryo... why would Ryo not recognize me?"
"My love, we're not sure it's him." Yuuji is still unconvinced.
"It is." The tears keep coming even though your mother keeps wiping them off. You rub your running nose. "It's him. I know it in my bones."
"Fine. I'll go and ask him myself." Your husband sounds a little frustrated. "If he really is my brother, I'll come back without a single scratch on my body. And if it's not, that assistant of his might send me back in a coffin."
Your heart shatters. "Yuuji, don't say that. You don't have to go. If this is the arrangement he wants to live by, we should be fine with it."
"I won't stand and watch my wife shed tears for a man, a monster, we don't know. If I die trying to find out if it really is her dearest friend, it'll still be worth it."
"Stop it." You swat at his arm. "Stop it, Yuuji, will you? There's nothing I want more in this life than your well-being."
"You!" Uraume demands your attention. You see a servant escorting your mother away while the devil's assistant walks toward you. "The servants said you lead the kitchen, do you?"
"I do."
"Come with me. You need to start preparing for Sukuna-sama's lunch."
Yuuji gives your hand a last little squeeze before heading to join his brothers in arms for cleanup, and you follow Uraume. As you walk beside them, you're drawn to notice their demure nature. The air about them is strict, poignant, commanding.
"May I ask you a question, Uraume-san?" You straighten your back.
They hum in response.
"How long have you been with Ry... Sukuna-sama?"
They look at you from the corner of their eye. "For as long as I can remember." You enter the kitchen and they make their way to the pantry. They check the vegetables for their freshness before turning, "Where's the meat?"
"The butcher will get it fresh from the poultry," You answer.
"Good. So, what you will make is–"
You interrupt. "A spicy meat and vegetables curry to go with a bowl of rice, and some sweet to go at the end. Right?"
"Make two helpings of that."
You nod. Like he has two mouths, that's what your mother always said when you three used to sit down for supper.
With an unfaltering determination and tears in your eyes, you get to work. Why won't the tears stop coming? It has been so long that you've cooked for Ryo, you want to make everything that he likes. But it would take long, you wouldn't be able to finish before lunchtime and you're afraid Uraume would scream at you again. Your cheek is still sore from her earlier admonition so you don't want to test fate.
Per the instructions given to you, you arrange the food on a tray and carry it up the stairs just after noon. Your monthly discomfort has been pushed to the recesses of your mind, overrun by the thoughts of what to cook for Ryo's dinner.
It has been so long since you've been allowed to enter this side of the mansion when this is where you had grown up, playing house on the floor of the twins' shared room, climbing out of the window, giggling with Yuuji, drawing moustaches on a sleeping Ryomen and waiting for him to wake up and scream at the two of you. You draw open the patio door and step inside. It's empty, except for a pair of pallets pushed together to make a bigger bed for the giant that Ryo has become. You place the tray of food in front of it and wait. Will you be allowed to see him now? Is that why you were given these instructions?
The door swipes open again. You tense up but immediately realize it's not Ryo. You would have recognized him in a heartbeat.
"What are you doing here?" Uraume snaps, making you flinch. Without waiting for an answer, they command, "Leave before Sukuna-sama sees you. He prefers dining alone. Come back in an hour and not a moment earlier."
You cower out of the door but don't head downstairs immediately. You know this house, its layout, both its strong pillars and its cracks. So you crouch by the patio, one eye through the slit in between it's wooden boards. On the other wall of the room, there is another door that slides open. You watch Uraume bowing deeply as a hulking figure crosses through, a red and black kimono loosely hanging around his torso.
Finally, you get the opportunity to examine this new Ryomen. What did he do to himself? How does one grow a second pair of arms in the span of five years?
"Sukuna-sama, your lunch has been served. Might I be of any service during your meal?" Uraume speaks at the floor.
"When did you have the time to cook?"
"It was not me, my Lord, but one of the household staff. The woman from earlier who dared to–"
"Leave."
Without any further conversation, Uraume exits the room. You watch with your hand clasped at your chest as Ryomen takes a seat and you wonder if the rush in his step is just something you're imagining. Could it be that he is just as elated to consume the meal that you cooked as you were while cooking?
"You... how dare you?"
Your back stiffens at the voice behind you. Uraume towers over you, glaring down, rheir voice hushed. "I told you to leave and you're still here, eavesdropping and worse, peeping. You would be dead by now if and only if it weren't for Sukuna-sama. Now get out of here before I change my mind."
"Please," you beg. "Please let me see him once. Please."
"Do you wish to be dragged out of here by your hair?"
"Please."
"Leave. Now."
𓆸𓆸𓆸𓆸𓆸𓆸𓆸𓆸𓆸𓆸𓆸𓆸𓆸𓆸𓆸𓆸𓆸𓆸
The first night upon Aniki's return, she cried and complained and threw a fit. Her heart was breaking from having her best friend returned to her but not in the state she wanted. To be fair to her state of mind, I still don't know why Aniki chose to not recognize any of us. Which is why, I am out tonight to get my own answers. As his brother and recently anointed Commander of the Kingsguard, I am certain I wouldn't be killed. But that's not enough.
I'm looking for solutions to my wife's melancholy. And if he really is my brother, my protective and ever pampering big brother, then I have a request.
I pass by the kitchen with nimble steps, up the stairs, across the quarters of the witchy person who insists they're only protecting Aniki and stop just short of a few steps in front of the room. Our room. The room Aniki and I grew up in, the one he has hogged all to himself now. How selfish! Not that I would sleep in any room where my wife isn't there beside me but he could have at least asked.
A chill goes down my spine, halting me before I take another step. What is this force, this power? Where is it even coming from?
I turn to my right and there he is, a giant with four arms standing at the edge of the floor, leaning on the recently reinforced iron railings. It is still hard to believe this is the brother I have always known to be kind and benevolent, who has now killed at least one person.
Now that I'm here, how do I approach him? From the looks of it, he hasn't figured out I'm here. This is exactly how I used to pull all my pranks on him. Fine, then. A prank, it is.
I take a couple of careful steps in his direction. He seems to be completely lost in some thought. Pausing, I call out. "Aniki?"
"Hmm?" There it is, my brother’s trademarked grunt. It's followed by a jolting up of his spine and a long sigh. The incredible force of power eases in the atmosphere around me. When he turns, I finally see my brother. His face may have become something unrecognizable but that guilty smirk on his face — I've been seeing it since we were three.
"Caught me."
"So it really is you. She was right all along."
Aniki only smiles, the two eyes on his mask zoning in on my face in a manner of scrutiny. "Leave if you're here to talk about her."
"Why? Does she not deserve to know her friend has returned? Does she not deserve to see you?"
"She shouldn't have to see me just because I have returned. Not like this."
"Aniki." I walk up to him. He's so much taller than me now, and so much bigger. "I won't ask what happened to you in the last few years but now that you're here, I expect you to be a brother for me. And a friend for her. Are you planning on leaving again soon? Because if not, how do you plan to ignore us for the rest of our lives?"
"I am doing just fine. It is you lot that has been pestering me and Uraume."
"And, rightfully so. I deserve to celebrate my brother's return. My wife deserves to know her cooking is being cherished by her friend."
He scoffs. "Your wife, huh?" I nod. "How was the wedding?"
"Simple. We had to rush it so the... well, the then Lord couldn't interfere. I wanted to wait for you but thankfully we didn't. What if you were never going to come back? I'd have never gotten to marry the love of my life."
"The love of your life?" He smiles and I can't nudge the feeling that there's a hint of woe on his face. It's gone in an instant though, replaced by a cheery spirit. "So where are the children? All the brats I've seen running around in the yard are those of the servants. Do I not get to see my nephews and nieces?"
"We haven't had any yet," I inform, gearing up for my turn to question.
"Why not? I remember you telling me you wanted a whole gang to play kemari with. Didn't know it was her you wanted to be their mother." He continues when I only reply with a hum. "So what happened? Were you waiting for me to come back and give you permission to fuck your wife?"
"Not permission but... I might need your help."
"How can I help, Yuuji?"
"You see, Aniki... I think the problem is me. I... I can't really explain it but... will you please have a child with her?"
