HELLO WORLD!!!

Uhmm, this is BD speaking.. this is my first ever post on tumblr, I REALLY have no idea how to kick this off. I've sorta been scooching around this place for quite some time, and after hearing about people's art sorta getting more attention here, I FINALLY decided to join in late to the party! Hooray!!!

I don't think I'll post much, but when I do, expect to see Rumic content!! (Especially MAO.. for now at least)

I really wish that Rumiko Takahashi expanded a little bit more on Mermaid Saga. There's just so much potential and lore that she'd created and the characters Yuta and Mana were such a treat to see. Plus the horror aspects of immortality and just how high the price for it really is is just such an interestingly dark concept. I'd love to see more of the world that is Yuta and Mana's.

I have an annoying hipster disease called “main character allergy”, in which I tend to gravitate towards the side cast of a given series rather than the male or female leads. In Rumic World's case, this remains true —save for an exception. Maybe it's because his story isn't over yet, maybe it's because as the protagonist of an anthology he doesn't have much competition, but I certainly want to see more of Yuta the immortal man who longs for death on his own terms.

Shingo Kiryu are definitely the worst character of all in any of Rumiko's stories. Never have I read about a character in any of her stories that are completely disgusting with zero positive or tragic sides of him. Rotten to the core.

Also this arc in Mermaid saga (Mermaid's gaze) where the only arc that never to get animated due it being too violent( but almost have your throat getting cut by piano wires or have your eye poked put is fine I guess((Mermaid's scar)) ).

Really love this revelation.

I’ve often said Mao reminds me of Mermaid Saga most of all, and this hold true here - but in a reversed sort of way.

In Mermaid Saga, Yuta encounters many who sought the mermaid flesh in want of immortality, or beauty, or some other miraculous thing. Yuta asserts again and again that despite how the mermaids flesh might seem like a wondrous medicine, it is in fact a cursed poison through and through. It poisons the body, the mind - cursing the heart and soul, depending on how one handles living forever.

And then we have Mao and Nanoka, cursed by Byouki’s poisonous blood. The most powerful of all kodoku. It’s a curse that’s clung to Mao for centuries, longer than even Yuta.

But Nanoka. She’s fresh blood. Something new. Something different amidst all the curses and killing. She brings about change.

Through her good heart, Nanoka turns the strongest poison into a purifying medicine.

Just a lovely sentiment is all.
