Hi, I've been wanting to ask, could you tell me why Kuwabara and Yuusuke has different color for their uniform? I thought they are in same school but..
They actually attend the same school, Sarayashiki Junior High, and have the same color for their uniforms. While Yusuke wears a tanran, a school uniform in which the blazer is cut extra short around the waist line, Kuwabara wears a chouran, a uniform with long lower hem. Both were popular uniforms among delinquents guys in the 80s. You can read more about Kuwabara and Yusuke Fashion Variation from the official databook.
Tumblr media
The thing is, for magazine covers and chapter opening pages, the manga artists usually highlight the characters with different colors. It's called "image color". You can read more about them in the Yu Yu Hakusho Artbook.
Togashi decided Kuwabara was going to be yellow during the Dark Tournament Saga, and changed the colors of the other characters on a whim. Yusuke used to be green, Kurama pink, and Hiei blue. Then, he changed Yusuke to red, Kurama to blue and Hiei to green.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For the Yoshihiro Togashi Exhibition, even if Yusuke became famous for his green anime uniform, Togashi kept him red, since Gon is also green.
Tumblr media
When it was decided that Yu Yu Hakusho was going to have an anime adaption, director Noriyuki Abe was against painting Yusuke and Kuwabara in different colors as they were from the same school, so he went to the JUMP editorial team and asked for confirmation. (Source: V-storage, 10.26.2018).
Tumblr media
Not only the editorial department endorsed the colors, but also the anime producer Ken Hagino explained that children remember the characters by their colors, so they needed to make the characters stand out, like in tokusatsu such as "Goranger". If they had made everyone wear black uniforms, with emphasis on realism, it would have looked pictorially simple. (Source: Yu Yu Hakusho 2009 Blu-Ray Booklet).
If I'm not mistaken, in the English dub, Yusuke says his favorite color is green or that green looks good on him. Nothing like that is said in Japanese. I don't why they changed the original dialogue with Keiko.

🌱🩷:Blue lock au where Y/n got invited to join the Blue Lock program as a player. She crossdresses as a boy and is friends with Reo and Nagi (they don't know she is a girl). I didn't change much abt Y/n's appearance, except that I made her around 5'10" tall and that she has a similar hairstyle to Chigiri's (the color is up to you, tho)
Warnings: None in particular. Reader uses she/her when narrating, otherwise the characters use he/him for Y/n. Requests are open for this AU.
⚽️Blue Lock belongs to Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yusuke Nomura⚽️
'Blue Lock... so this will be my new escape...' (Y/n) gulped as she looked at the building in front of herself. She saw a lot of people, well known high school players enter the place, making her nervous over the whole idea. Sure, she was excited over finally leaving her home, her adoptive parents for a while, but she was just entering a bigger hell than she already left. Now, some might be confused what a girl was doing at Blue Lock? A project meant for the best football players in Japanese high schools. For male football players. Well, the question was pretty easy to answer, kinda. (Y/n) was adopted at a pretty young age into a somewhat well-off family, but the life she had wasn't the best. Her parents always wanted to have only boys, and while they had 2 biological sons, they didn't want to have a daughter.
'The only reason we adopted you was because I was indebted to your father.' She shuddered as she remembered her adopted father's words. (Y/n) knew they didn't want her, so she did her best to survive the household till she can be free. One of the ways was giving into her parents' demands on changing her personality and appearance to suit a stereotypical guy. (Y/n) didn't want that, at all, but for now she had to be someone she wasn't.
'At least they let me grow out my hair... and they allowed me to leave to this football camp.' She thought, touching a few strands of her (h/c) hair.
"Hey! Earth to (Y/n), are you alright?" She jumped, looking over at her teammates, Nagi and Reo. The two looked at her in worry for a moment, which caused her to smile and nod her head.
"I am fine! Don't worry... Just a little nervous." She thought as Reo grabbed her hand and pulled her into the building while Nagi followed after them.
"Don't be. All three of us are highly ranked football players, I am sure this thing will be a walk in the park for us." Reo laughed.
"Yeah, you worry too much." Nagi yawned as they got into the main hall where the other players were. (Y/n) recognized some from her previous matches, and some were unfamiliar.
'Oh... that Kira guy was invited here too? Figures, he was a good opponent back then...' She thought, recognizing the white haired boy. She then turned her attention to another guy standing next to Kira, they seemed pretty close.
'Who is he? I never saw him before...' (Y/n) thought while observing the blue-eyed boy.
'That sprout is cute tho.' She smiled, noticing the few strands of hair that were sticking out.
"Who are you looking at? Come on, we need to catch up to Reo." Nagi ground as he tugged on the pants of her uniform.
"H-huh? Nobody! Let's hurry up." She said, glancing a few more times at the unknown boy.
They soon reached Reo, only for him to scold the duo for getting lost.
"Congratulations, you unpolished lumps of talent." The trio froze for a moment and then looked at the stage, only to find a guy with bowl-cut black hair and glasses looking at all of them.
"Who is he?" (Y/n) muttered.
"Dunno." Nagi shrugged.
"What did he just call us?" Reo wondered.
"According to my personal judgment the 300 of you are the best strikers under 18. My name is Jinpachi Ego and I was hired to give Japan a World Cup victory." Everyone kept silent as (Y/n) stared at Ego in shock.
'World Cup victory? Japan can't qualify for semi-finals, what does he mean by victory?' She thought skeptically.
"I'll say this plainly. One thing is needed for Japanese soccer to become the best in the world: the birth of a revolutionary striker. From you 300 players gathered here today, I will forge the best striker in the world through a certain project."
Ego continued his speech, not giving anyone time to digest anything.
"What a bore." Nagi groaned, earning a kick to his leg by (Y/n).
"Shh." She warned, then looked back at Ego.
"All of them revolutionary strikers!! Their extraordinary egoism is the one thing Japan’s football lacks. You will not become the greatest strikers in the world, unless you have the ego to match. My purpose here, is to create such a player in Japan."
'Egoism? Shouldn't football be treated as a team sport? What good does it bring to act like that on the field?' (Y/n) raised her eyebrow, tuning out whatever Reo and Nagi were saying.
As Ego kept on talking, (Y/n) was getting lost in her thoughts.
'So we are basically training for our national team now... Getting out of one hellhole into another, but at least here... at least here I feel a little bit more like myself, as odd as it sounds. While I can't tell to anyone I am not a guy, at least I can play the sport that always saved me from going insane.' (Y/n) thought, looking back at the crowd as Ego finished his speech. (Y/n) listened as he talked about reaching the goal he set up for them, and if the players who were gathered had what it takes to become a striker. From the corner of her eyes, she saw the boy from before rush to a open door, and something struck her. She wasn't sure what it was, but something about him and the look he held in his eyes made her hypnotized, and she quickly ran after him.
'Who are you? And what's up with you?' She sprinted faster after him, ignoring Reo and Nagi's calls, both desperate to catch up with her.
"Huh? Thank you... so you said I am in Team X, Teieri-san?"  (Y/n) asked the woman, who smiled and nodded her head.
"Yes, that's just down the corridor. I will keep your phone and other items safe while you are at our facility." (Y/n) thanked the woman and started walking down the hallway, looking at all the rooms in curiosity.
'Probably the storages...' She thought.
'This place is like a prison, but I can welcome it. I wonder how I will keep myself hidden now... now that I have to share a room and everything with some dudes.' She cringed and sighed, then slowly walked into Team X's room. Inside were, as expected a bunch of other guys, some changing, some just talking.
'Oh brother....' She thought, looking to the side.
"Ah? You are our other teammate?" A guy with brownish hair asked.
"Y-yes! (L/n) (Y/n) is my name." She said in a little bit deeper voice.
"(Y/n)? Isn't that a girl's name?" Another guy asked while walking up to the duo.
"My parents have a thing for feminine names." She answered with the same lie she's been using for years.
"Wait... (Y/n)... (L/n) (Y/n)? Hakuho's eagle?"
"What?" (Y/n) she raised her eyebrow as a blonde approached them.
"You are known as a beast with those precise shots. I should have expected someone like you being here."
"Ah... thanks." (Y/n) answered, unsure what was going on at this point. By now a group has been formed around her and the guys started asking her different questions, until someone cleared his throat.
"Can you donkeys shut up?"
(Y/n) tensed up and looked at a pair of red eyes staring directly at her.
'Ahhh!! Scary!' She thought.
"Sorry, Barou." A few sighed out as the boy and (Y/n) had a stare down.
"Barou... I know you. You are that guy from Akudo Academy. We played against you at the quarterfinals." (Y/n) recalled, remembering the sheer force he used back then.
"So what about it?" The boy asked, obviously annoyed that she brought that up. Some of the teammates backed away, scared of a possible infight.
"Nothing-"
"I see you unpolished lumps have all found your room." The group looked at the monitor, only to find Ego staring down at them.
"Good, now it's time for the first elimination round."
"What?" (Y/n) and Barou asked at the same time.
"Every team in our 5 buildings is playing a game of tag, in a football way. You will be given a football, the person you hit with it will be it, and will chase someone else." Ego started explaining as a football fell from the ceiling, landing between Barou and (Y/n). The duo glanced at the item and then at each other.
"You are given 2 minutes. The person who stays it when the time runs out, is eliminated from Blue Lock..." The room fell into a tense silence.
"And, subsequently they are losing the opportunity to ever play for Japan."
"Haaa?!" Barou and (Y/n) yelled in shock.
"That's rediculous, how is a game of tag going to help here?" Barou wondered.
"Especially if you only give us 2 minutes."
"2 minutes is the most a player spends in the possession of the ball during a game. Now hurry up. On your sleeves you will see your current rankings, the one with the lowest is the 1st it."
(Y/n) quickly went to look at hers and scanned the tag.
"Currently the highest ranked one here is (L/n) (Y/n), at 252."
"How does this ranking even work?" She wondered to herself as the screen flashed the name of the first it. She looked at the boy and felt a little sad, he looked pretty meek.
"Donkey." Barou started, hitting (Y/n)'s head.
"Ow! What? And did you just call me a donkey?" She asked in disbelief.
"Don't get too distracted, can't have you eliminated this soon." Barou warned, confusing the girl a little.
"What? Why would you care?"
"Because I still need to prove to you that I am far better than you are."
The girl sweatdropped as the siren signaled the start, causing everyone to disparage across the room. She watched as the boy nervously looked around before his eyes fell on her.
'Shit.' She thought, dodging the ball that came flying to her.
"Huh? Why aren't you kicking back? You are the higher rank here." Barou questioned, annoyed at her move.
"What? The goal here is not to be it!" She watched as the ball bounced off the wall and back to the boy, who seemed more and more determined to get her instead of someone else.
'I can't be eliminated.... I don't want to go back home...' (Y/n) thought, glaring back at him.

Hi! Do you think the tracksuit Goro wears, when they all meet up at school, belongs to Ren or was there another way he got it somehow?
This one's just a little bit complicated. In this 1/11 meeting, all the Shujin kids are in their ordinary winter uniforms, while all three visitors are in school tracksuits.
who's wearing what
First of all, unless they did something weird like buying tracksuits, or unless Makoto liberated them from school stores, we can probably guess who lent what to whom:
Futaba is probably wearing Haru's tracksuit, since Haru is the second-smallest;
Ryuji p...robably lent Yusuke his tracksuit;
Which leaves only Ren to lend a tracksuit to Akechi.
You could reverse those last two, of course—maybe Ren offers Yusuke his tracksuit, and Ryuji reluctantly steps up. He is quite aggressive about including Akechi, as a rule—"And you? Sound good?" @minkhollow42 also points out that as a former track team member, Ryuji might have multiple tracksuits.
So it depends which you like. Personally, I like the callback to conf 3 we get, if Akechi is wearing Ren's clothes.
who invited akechi
On 1/10, after Lavenza's phone call, Makoto says she'll figure out "how to get Yusuke and Futaba into the school". Someone's missing, huh? And yet there Akechi is, all the same. So there are a few possibilities:
Makoto remembered him, invited him, and arranged a tracksuit for him. (not out of the question)
Ren invited him. and slipped him his tracksuit between the 1/10 and 1/11 scenes.
One of the other PTs invited him, and arranged for him to borrow Ren's tracksuit.
After Akechi was invited, he arranged his own tracksuit. We can probably rule this one out.
While I like the idea of Ren inviting him, I also like the idea that Makoto had an attack of conscience—it would be like her. But honestly, I don't think either of these two options are my favourite.
Take a look at Akechi's line of sight, as he says "I didn't think you'd invite me":
Tumblr media
Where's he looking? Across the room, at Haru and Futaba. Is it just a side-effect of the model's position? Possibly, but then Haru is the first to reply to him, as if he was addressing her directly. He's also turned just a little away from camera (towards the chair where Lavenza will appear), making it look as if he's facing Haru rather than Futaba. From a dev perspective, Akechi, Haru and Futaba have been placed so that they visually confront each other.
After the 1/10 discussion where Haru and Futaba have their veto on Akechi joining the team, it seems unlikely Akechi would ever have been invited without their being asked. So something went on behind the scenes, which resulted in Akechi being there in that tracksuit (which, yes, is probably Ren's).
wheels within wheels
Also, in case you ever wondered how much Akechi knows about the Velvet Room... notice how he's the only one seriously startled when Lavenza appears, with his little ?! there:
Tumblr media
He's the only one who hasn't met Lavenza, of course. But he also reacts before he sees her—as if he doesn't have a context for anything mysterious and blue.

v1.1 (2023/10/21)—ryuji might have multiple tracksuits.

YYH live action - disappointments and highlights!
disappointments:
off the bat - it's five episodes and the pacing and storylines are squished, but you just have to accept these limitations and embrace this for what it is - MOVING ON
the music - it was generic and had some weird choices and overall didn't feel very cohesive?
hiei's zoomies - the sound effect when he's going fast is a bit cartoony in a bad way
3 times the cgi was noticeably iffy: genkai's younger face, when yusuke and kurama went into the mirror of forlorn hope, the blooms coming out of karasu
skipping over hiei and kurama's backgrounds - this is what made me think this series is more for yyh fan than anyone else, at the very least i would think there would be some exposition about youko kurama or hiei being a thief
bui - he was flat and really just there for hiei to show off his dragon (which isnt a bad reason! but in comparison to karasu, he didn't have much of a personality, even after taking off his armor)
highlights:
fucking everything i loved it askldjhsdfg
SMILE BOMB!!!!
but really - kuwabara's introduction, yusuke's flying drop kick, it perfectly captured their dynamic
kuwabara in general, he was everything i hoped he'd be
the costuming: while there wasn't as much variety in what yusuke and co. wore, there were lots of details that made everyone's clothes stand out (the chains and lining on kuwabara's uniform, yusuke's cropped uniform top, everything hiei wore to the buckled strap for his sword in the back, kurama's magenta uniform with the gold lining that IS NOT his school uniform but just - something he wears i guess?? which makes it even more insane and i love that)
THE FIGHT SCENES, they put so much effort into each fight and you can tell and it makes the show stand out SO MUCH in comparison to other live action adaptations
the way they, despite having to condense so much of the story, managed to tell a very interesting and entertaining twist to the story without losing too much
hiei and kuwabara arguing - hiei going out of his way to tell kuwabara to get away from yukina <- i'm still laughing
speaking of - THE HUMOR, it was serious! it was funny! it did a great job of balancing out the two
the dynamic of the group is just like in the anime/manga (though we didn't get as much of them interacting as i'd like, we got some and i enjoyed every bit of it!)
karasu. he was creepy. he was gay. his eyeliner was sharp. his attacks looked awesome. his fight lived up to his anime counterpart
the toguro brothers. while we didn't get as much of a lead up, they were perfect. older toguro was straight out of a horror movie. younger toguro managed to be complex and not just a big muscular villain. there was depth to him that felt very authentic.
hiei diving off the tower, i really enjoyed seeing his demonic abilities on display (though where were his fire powers???)
YOUKO KURAMA. i was so worried he'd look terrible in live action but he was just pretty and fluffy and aslkdjhsdfg
hiei and yukina's reunion. awkward. sincere. sweet. sad. the fact that hiei was surprised yukina even spoke to him. i wanna squish the two of them
everyone was beat to hell, their clothes were crunchy and gritty and i like that no one was left 'pristine' like in so many other shows - these boys got nasty
everything honestly just everything i watched the entire five episodes grinning and having a blast
controversial opinion:
i like kurama's wig. i said it. yeah. i do.

Hello I saw you were writing for persona 5 so i was just wondering if I could ask for some headcanons on how yusuke ryuji ann and haru from persona 5 would be like with a badass punk rock s/o who is also a phantom thief I just like to imagine the reader is extremely easy going and free spirited as a person and also a complete badass I can imagine them using their guitar as a weapon in battle as well like how serval does in honkai star rail
With a Punk S/O
Fandom: Persona 5
Character(s): Ryuji Sakamoto, Ann Takamaki, Haru Okumura, Yusuke Kitagawa
Type of Request: Headcanons
Note(s): Haven't played HSR (I've spent enough money on Genshin, I'm not doing that to myself xD), but there's a video game called Fable 2 where you can get a lute (it's set in fantasy) and it makes fun instrumental noises when you hit enemies so I like that idea a lot.
Tumblr media
Ann
She knows of the punk rock style a bit due to her modeling and her looking into different styles and clothing and just being rather interested in the subject.
I can see her being a huge fan of punks. It reminds her of the villains she admired in cartoons, but moreso since punks have such a stigma to them when she can see how much good you're actually doing.
Definitely cheering you on as you hit shadows with your guitar. Every pang from the strings causes her to get extra excited.
Haru
Haru has so much pent up rage in her body that I can 100% see her thriving with the punk scene and just letting it all out due to how injustice all the systems that are supposed to help people are.
That said, she probably wouldn't really be super aggro or outspoken when she's at school or a more public area just because of her own image since she owns a company now. But you still get her full support.
Like Ann, she's cheering you up as you smash shadows with your guitar. Feels a bit bad because she really hopes that your guitar doesn't get hurt. But if you let her, she wouldn't mind giving it a few swings too.
Ryuji
I feel like Ryuji would thrive with a punk S/O. He's very much sick of corrupt adults and is glad to have someone else that gets in trouble due to their uniform being altered and hair not looking how it should.
Can't help but feel a bit of pride when he hears the "delinquent" comments now because usually you're paired up with him in those comments. It just feels like a weird "matching couple" thing and he likes the fact that others know that you're together.
Thinks it's so freaking hot that you hit things with a guitar in Mementos and palaces. He does worry a bit because guitars can be pricey and he doesn't want you to break it
Yusuke
Yusuke definitely is taken aback by how blunt you are when it comes to speaking out against corrupt figures as well as being ready to fight if things come to that. He's not against it, but it does surprise him a bit to see that.
Might have to hold you back a bit just because he doesn't want to see you constantly being suspended during school. In the palaces, he doesn't mind if you go ham, but school is already annoying enough, he can't have you getting in trouble and leaving him to deal with everything alone.
Absolutely stares as you smash a shadow with your guitar. It's such a great scene and he immediately has inspiration to draw. Yusuke can't help a comment about hoping to find a safe room soon so he can begin sketching.

Check it out, some Fool Makoto Swap Stuff
I'm having a lot of fun coming up with little design differences for this new arcana swap I think I might fully say it'll be like. My official swap for P5.
So I'm gonna work on the summer uniform variations, and then also, Strikers ideas. Mainly, cause Strikers for this will be Winter. I'm changing that up that way!! I love Strikers a lot so I have to include it in some way
I might try to sketch some things out?? Again I'm far from an artist, I haven't drawn in 6 years really, but like. I wanna share how everything would look,,
I'm also trying to work out more personas for the team. I have Makoto's, and have her affinity, but I wanna narrow down some ideas for Morgana, Haru, and Goro, at least. I'll have to do them for the others too (Ryuji, Ren, Ann, Yusuke, Futaba, and Hifumi) but I wanna get those three done first?? They're the most fleshed out rn
Oh!! I have some new arcana to announce!!
Judgement will be... Zenkichi Hasegawa!
Fortune will be... Toranosuke Yoshida!
I'm still working on the last two, being Hanged Man and Strength, and would love some input on those
And, another big change. There is more off feelings towards Justice from the whole crew. Our starting group are all incredibly observant, so I think it would be a fair touch that they'd notice something really off with "TV personality Hifumi Togo" from the start. Like she's not exactly who she says she is
Also. Goro's mom is alive here. Yeah. She's sickly, and that's why he had to go ask his dad for help, leading to him being a seedy intern. His Social Link is him and Makoto working together to find out who's been committing shoe locker robberies, and leads to him realizing he genuinely likes that kinda work, and other things about himself. He decides he's going to try to be a criminal investigator, and by the end of the year, would be lined up for an internship with Sae
Haru, she's more about finding a desire to do what she loves even though her dad no longer gives her any. She's lost satisfaction with cooking, and through teaching Makoto to cook, and sharing dishes with others, regains her love for the act. Though, more importantly, she remembers why she loved it in the first place, how it reminded her of cooking with her mom. Haru starts hunkering down to try to get into culinary school at the end of their next year
Also. I haven't mentioned it yet. But the main romance will be Makoto x Haru. There is some Ann x Shiho mixed in with the Faith Social Link, and I'm debating how to pair up the guys on the team, if at all. Cause. Perhaps. And I'm just suggesting this here, but. Goro and Ryuji? Maybe? I think normally they're both too, easy to aggravate. But in this au, maybe they can work???
But yeah. Sapphic focus in this one folks
Oh! And Futaba? Eventually gets to return to reality. I'm making a point that she uses crutches still after a year and a half for Strikers (cause it's LATER). Gonna have her coma thing have lasting effects. Chronically ill Futaba
I think this is the last thing I'm putting here, but I wanna lay out who is at Kosei, at Shujin, or not old enough for high school
Morgana, Sumire, and Kasumi are all too young for high school
Makoto, Goro, Haru, and Eiko are second years at Shujin. Ann, Ren, Akira, and Yusuke are first years at Shujin
Ryuji and Hifumi are first years at Kosei
Yeah. I'm loving this au so lemme know any thoughts y'all have

the P5 artbook is one of the funniest things I've gotten to read basically ever as the artist sounds like he hates everyone but Joker.
He calls Joker sexy an... uncomfortable about of times, goes off about how punk their school uniform is which, ah yes, peak punk: Plaid Pants.
He slams Ryuji's appearance, calls him the polar opposite of Joker and then promptly calls him ugly afterwards which like LET MY BOY BREATHE dude.
the comments about ann are yucky as per expectation
he calls Yusuke creepy and perverted like several times, and also says his main pose is perverted which ????????
I know this is usually what we make fun of fans for saying but lowkey these do not sound like the characters that made it in game

Break In To Break Out Profiles; Makoto Iwasaki, The Emperor, aka Lucky
so im posting emperor makoto's bio before lovers futaba's because im very excited about her <3 shout-out to @hobie-doh and @beezonia for showing love to bitbo prologue! i'll probably have chapter one published today :D
Before The Plot
Makoto was the student and adopted daughter of Himeka Iwasaki, an actress turned theatre producer and writer. Unbeknownst to her, she was taken in by Iwasaki after her father's death - indirectly caused by Iwasaki during an argument in relation to his then-partner and Makoto's mother
Part of the reason she was taken in by her was because Sae - who was quite young - was forced to give Makoto up. Their mother died of heartbreak following her husband's death and Sae was unaware of Iwasaki's role in their father's death
14 years later, Makoto decides to hire Futaba as an actress for the latest Iwasaki play, which results in the Phantom Thieves discovering her step-mother's abusive behaviour, and later, results in Makoto entering the Metaverse and awakening to her Persona
Makoto's Persona, Element and Weapon
Makoto's Persona is Gentileschi, an Italian Baroque painter who's achievements as an artist were long overshadowed by the assault she suffered at the hands of Agostino Tassi, as well as the torture she suffered to deliver evidence at his trial. (oh - and Gentileschi is still a bike)
Makoto uses Ice abilities, and is a surprisingly good all-rounder, much like in canon, using a mix of Physical, Healing, Status and Support moves, including the Suku- line of buffs and debuffs
For her melee weapons, she uses her fists, like in canon. She specifically uses tekko style brass knuckles, sometimes using claws or full gauntlets that cover her hands
Her ranged weapons are lever action rifles, specifically inspired by the Winchester lever action rifle. As Yusuke keeps his assault rifles (although was originally going to get flintlock pistols) I wanted to give her a more 'antique' weapon similar to her canon revolvers having a more cowboy aesthetic
Makoto's Phantom Thief Identity; Lucky
Her codename as a thief is Lucky, chosen due to her mask resembling a maneki-neko statue
As stated above, her mask resembles a maneki-neko statue, being a white cat mask with blue highlights and red inner ears. I'll put an example below the cut just in case anyone wants to see what it looks like
Her outfit consists of a navy blue jumpsuit underneath a light blue, kimono style top, with long sleeves that cover her arms. There are flower decorations on the kimono, and a red obi around her waist that splits into twin tails, similar to a bakaneko. She wears black, ankle high boots and white gloves
Makoto's Outfits
As a Kosei student, she wears a different uniform to the rest of the cast. Much like Yusuke in canon, she wears a high necked top with a fleur-de-lis emblem on the right breast and long sleeves. She tucks the top into a black pleated skirt with black tights underneath it. She wears black, ballet flats
In summer, she wears a white, button down, short sleeve blouse with no tie, the same black pleated skirt as in winter and 3/4 black leggings underneath the skirt. She wears the same black ballet flats as in her winter uniform. The fleur-de-lis emblem is instead represented on a necklace that she wears
Her fall/spring attire consists of a plain white t-shirt underneath a black, cropped jacket, black jeans with folded over cuffs, and black plimsoll sneakers. She wears the fleur-de-lis emblem necklace from her summer school uniform
Her summer attire consists of a navy blue mini-dress with 3/4 black leggings beneath the skirt, black strappy sandals and a collection of silver bracelets on her right arm. She wears the fleur-de-lis emblem necklace from her summer school uniform
For the winter, she wears a navy blue trenchcoat over a white turtleneck, black jeans and brown riding boots. She wears navy blue gloves on her hands and a pale blue, knitted scarf around her neck
Makoto's Social Link
Makoto's social link involves her trying to get back into writing after Iwasaki's arrest, starting with her creating a play based on her life. However, unlike Yusuke, her self-esteem issues leads to her indirectly writing herself as the antagonist of the play and basically redeeming Iwasaki for her crimes, a fact that she feels incredibly guilty over
Like most Emperor arcana, Makoto is inflexible and often obsessed with her art, trying to make it seem perfect so she can hide a lot of her own insecurities. Considering what Iwasaki did to her, she finds herself often talking herself and her own abilities down
Another side to her confidant is her getting to know her sister better, which makes Palace 7 very awkward for both parties, especially as - and Makoto would loathe to admit it - she resents her sister for giving her up to Iwasaki in the first place
In spite of her being introverted, she teaches Yusuke how to perform for Shadows, allowing for easier communication with the creatures and a way to restart the discussion if things go sour. Think a combination of Ann and Yoshida's confidant abilities
By Rank 10, she invites Yusuke to see a performance of the play after its been edited to represent Makoto's feelings about herself, her sister and Iwasaki. She's much more confident in her writing, and thanks Yusuke for helping her with it
Makoto in Strikers
In Strikers, Makoto is a first year university student studying theatre and art history! She's reconciled with Sae, and the pair are quite close now. Much like in canon Strikers, she does most of the driving, having gotten her license and being - understandably - unwilling to trust Haru behind the wheel
She's the one who has the rivalry with Natsume, understandably angered at how he treats art - especially when he decides to throw her father's work under the bus - but eventually understanding why he's struggling and moving that anger to instead his editor
In Strikers, she wears a white maxi-dress with blue floral designs, similar to her Phantom Thief attire but reversed, with brown sandals and silver and white bangles on her right arm
here's some more info!

Carpe Diem more like Carpe Petat amirite
Does this mean we get Team Urameshi reacting to sexy outfit?? :3c
As a matter of fact it DOES
(note that for YYH I write the immediately post-canon stage that the end of the manga describes, so everyone is of age)
Wearing something sexy for them - Yusuke, Kuwabara, Hiei, Kurama x GN/AFAB Reader
NSFW 18+
Yusuke: For him, it's more about how hot it is that you want to dress up just to turn him on. He's got extremely broad tastes, but his favorites are kinky, costume-style outfits- a school uniform or maid outfit, something that really emphasizes how naughty you want to be just for him. Depending on his mood, he'll either rip the clothes off of you like tissue paper, wearing the cocky smirk even if you pout about how now you'll have to buy a new outfit, or he'll just revel in the way the tight, skimpy clothes emphasize your curves while he fucks you breathless in his bed.
"Damn, babe, you went and got this sexy little number just for me? Y'know... it kinda makes me wanna call your bluff. If you're gonna get me all riled up wearin' something like that, I hope you're ready to take my cock til I'm worn out- and we both know that could take a while."
Kuwabara: he's an absolute sucker for those classically feminine, frilly style lingerie sets- a babydoll with cups that just barely cover your breasts and a frilled hem teasing around your hips, that sort of thing. He'd never even realized it would be such a turn on until he comes home to you waiting on his bed all dressed up, with a cute little, "welcome home, Kazuma~~" and he just blanks for a minute. Once he's got his bearings though, he's just desperate to spoil you in return, and you can immediately tell that your little outfit has got him even bigger and harder than usual.
"Oh- wow, uh, I mean- woah, you... You look. Good. Like, uh, really, really good. Stop laughing! C'mon, I can't think straight with you lookin' all cute an' sexy like that, okay?! Well, fine- if you're gonna do all this for me, then I'll just show you how much I like it!"
Hiei: there's a lot about human sexual culture that he doesn't quite "get," so a lot of costumes and lingerie would be more confusing and frustrating for him than anything- he's most likely to just tear the outfit off of you, wasting no time. That said, a simple collar that he can tug on while he's deep inside of you can get him especially riled up- or even a tiny thong that he can just tug aside to thrust into you roughly from behind. Something minimal that accents your state of undress and draws his eye, but won't keep him from having you.
"Trying to tempt me? Tch. Don't waste your time. You know that if I want you, I'll have you- these little scraps of fabric are just a distraction."
Kurama: oooohhh, Kurama. Always a man of subtle, refined and surprisingly kinky tastes, for him it's more about his desire to choose what you wear. He relishes his control over you, and that you give him that control freely and willingly. He loves to pick out a just-too-short or just-too-tight outfit for you to wear out for a date (and his tastes are, of course, exquisite), then silently smirk each time he notices someone else eyeing you. It all just heightens his anticipation for that night, when he'll carefully and slowly undress you while telling you in great detail how he admired your body all day. Oh also Kurama loves when you wear something of his and he can enjoy your scent on it later maybe while jerking off
"You noticed, didn't you? The way they stared at you today? I can hardly blame them when you look so tempting... Though of course, if any even thought for a moment of approaching you, I'm afraid I would have to intervene. You're mine, after all. Perhaps it's a bit self-indulgent of me, but I do so enjoy dressing you up as I like."

Finished the live action Yu Yu Hakusho. It goes so hard, you guys. They blended the storylines really fucking well, so it was all cohesive and interesting on its own.
Given the time they had Hiei and Kurama didn't have quite as much time to shine, so some of their depth from the original was missing, but that was due entirely to lack of time and not due to the actors lacking in their characterization. Like, that depth was still obviously there in the portrayals; the more subtle acting choices were clearly still in alignment with the manga backstories and motivations that weren't covered in the live action.
This holds true for all the characters, actually. They took the time to show Kuwabara's goofy friends and how much he cares about them. Yusuke got several defining moments where he's kind and nice to children, smart in his own way, and dedicated to solving problems by bitching and throwing hands. Hiei and Kurama are still complex and interesting in ways I can't summarize in one sentence lol.
Botan and Koenma are very well translated, since their things are kind of incompatible with live action, in a way that meshed perfectly with the rest of the show. And Toguro and Sakyou each got the correct amount of backstory and motivations fleshed out to make their characters satisfying as the Big Bads.
The visual effects were also incredible. Toguro-ani was disturbing and awful, spiritual energy looked pretty but not too fake, the process of Koenma decided which souls go where was interesting and beautiful, and most importantly in a show about fighting, the fights were both physically impossible and yet so fluid and fast paced that they looked like choreographed fights between people who can Just Do That, For Real.
The sets are gorgeous. The outfits are spectacular, even the school uniforms. The music fucks. The blood and damage look realistic. There's an end credit scene where Toguro-ani's head complains as a seagull pecks him and rips off little shreds of flesh. What's not to love?

"I didn't mean it!" (From Chie)
Tumblr media
It’s a rare occasion when the third years were actually taking P.E with the first and second years. It just HAPPENED TO BE a day Yusuke actually decided to attend class. The game today was softball, this was the rare occasion where students actually tried recruiting Yusuke onto their teams, he might be labeled a VIOLENT STUDENT but none could deny his athleticism whenever he would take part in class.
Tumblr media
Ugh, it was soo noisy, he should have just skipped, a good cigarette on the roof would have definitely made this day so much better.  However fate had other plans for Urameshi today. LOOK OUT!!! One student yells out a speeding ball flew through the air after being hit with a bat. The bat came into contact with the skull of Urameshi Yusuke and with that he instantaneously fell to the floor.
The way that ball him him, people were more than SURE HIS SKULL had cracked. “Someone call the ambulance!!!” A student yells out.
Tumblr media
Good that would do since they were outdoors and mobile devices were in their lockers with their school uniform. However Yusuke’s  ❝   𝐒𝐎𝐍 𝐎𝐅 𝐀 𝐁𝐈𝐓𝐂𝐇!   ❞  was heard which left the students between astonished and more invested to take him into their team because he should at the very least still be knocked out..but here he was..rubbing a bump that’s no doubt appeared behind his head as he looked towards the distance of one of the batters practicing…Chie..OF COURSE IT WAS. Who else would have been strong enough to make something like that hurt?
“Yeah..yeah..I’ll accept that apology as soon as whoever turns off their phone..damn thing’s ringing loud.” Said Yusuke, wholeheartedly accepting the compliment but always has something ‘smart’ to say despite what injury he sustained.

Wherefore art you outside my window, Romeo
So, you can read this a number of ways, I won’t tag it as a ship overtly, but I recalled a similar scene from an rp I did, and I figured this would be some entertaining tomfoolery to explore Ryuji and Yusuke a bit. I don’t write them a whole lot, and I want to stretch the writing muscles a bit ehe. Hope ya’ll enjoy the result!
How did I draw the short straw here? We’re phantom thieves, not legit criminals, why am I having to stalk this bastard? Ryuji Sakamoto gently fumed as he leaned back against the tree outside of the patchwork shack of a house that Madarame had claimed was his home on the news. Which, the blonde track star figured was a big fat lie, as the only person he saw enter the home at any point that Sunday was the tall, blue-haired artist that he had been voted to babysit.
A blue-haired artist who paced back and forth in front of his open bedroom window, the messy floorboards creaking beneath each of his footsteps as his nose was buried in the same book of collected literature that Ryuji’s teacher had passed out in his own class not too long ago. Does he just have that for his own entertainment, or does he have to read it for class like I do? I wouldn’t be surprised if it was the former, honestly. Ryuji mused as he watched the artist go back and forth, back and forth, and back and forth out of his line of sight.
But, in the brief moments that he did pass the window, the phantom thief could see that Yusuke Kitagawa was still dressed in his school uniform, with a headband on to keep his shaggy bangs out of his face as he read Romeo and Juliet aloud to himself at a volume that allowed Ryuji to hear snippets even from his spot in the dark trees. “-That birds would sing and think it were not night-” And, he had to admit that the artist definitely knew how to perform well, and while Ryuji had no interest in theater, he could still tell that Yusuke’s voice had a smooth confidence to it that reminded the blonde that the tall senior was a student in an art school. The same way that his gestures and small movements to try and sell the lines he read aloud seemed to confirm his love for creative expression in any form. Which, was an impressive shift from the odd creature that the phantom thieves had met back on the streets.
Back in the subway, when he and Joker had confronted Yusuke for following Ann, the artist had been a weirdo, a creep, and painfully awkward. Granted, he hadn’t done it with ill intention, just a social ineptitude that he lacked whenever he came back into Ryuji’s line of sight. “-That I might touch that cheek…” he read out, before he glared down at the next line before he muttered, “What type of exclamation is ‘Ay me!’ though? Is she excited, scared, or annoyed?” before he jumped at the new voice from outside. “She speaks! O, speak again, bright angel, for thou art as glorious as this night, being o’er my head, as is a winged messenger of heaven unto the white upturned wond’ring eyes of mortals that fall back to gaze on him when he bestrides the lazy puffing clouds and stails upon the bosom of the air.” Fuck, I should not have done that.
Sadly, though, that rationale had hit a heartbeat too late to stop the impulse. Yusuke was already at the window to scan the night’s shadows. Which, gave Ryuji a chance to see the interest and excitement mixed with the fear and anxiety in the artist’s steely eyes as they scanned the flora and silver-lit darkness. “O Romeo, Romeo! Wherefore art thou Romeo? Deny thy father and refuse thy name; or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love, and I will no longer be a Capulet.” He eventually recited out into the night’s cool air with the dramatic yearning of a melodramatic fourteen-year-old before he paused for the expected aside. Well, now I know you’re either a freaky dude, or you know it's just me out here. “Sorry dude, I don’t know the next line.” He admitted, those polished disks of silver metal quick to lock onto where the blonde sat on his branch. Yet, even that didn’t spark the expected wrath. “Shall I hear more, or shall I speak at this. If you’re going to play Romeo, you’d best learn your lines.” He said, his weight now rested on his elbows as he spoke to the blonde with a near-smug amount of amusement, “You should also work on your emoting. You sound as interested as a board.” And that got the track star to scowl and put his hands up in sarcastic surrender, “Well damn, I wouldn’t have even humored you if I knew you’d be so critical.” “Stalkers don’t usually humor their victims regardless.” The artist pointed out, “Says the stalker??” Ryuji snapped, but he was quickly countered with, “I wasn’t really stalking Miss Takamaki, I just tried to awkwardly approach the few times I saw her out in public. I never learned where she lived, her schedule, or where she worked. You’re sat outside of my home after I’ve already told you to fuck off once, and you and your friends have inappropriately dug up information on my living situation and mentor.”
Ryuji admittedly had no argument for that point, the artist’s logic was pretty sound on some level. The silence was enough to earn him a triumphant smirk from Yusuke as the artistic oddball straightened. “Now, if you’re done helping me with my homework, leave before I call the police.” He ordered, then shut the window before the blonde could argue. I’m gonna fist-fight this bastard.

YYH live action reaction - characters!!
yusuke: pitch perfect. he strutted. he had an edge. he's dangerous. he's complicated. he wants to do good but doesn't want to be bossed around or explain himself. he's tired and over it. him realizing he has friends. he cares about people. and he's loved. and he loves them back and wants to protect them and he can. takumi kitamura nails how complex yusuke is and is damn cool about it.
kuwabara: amazing. perfect. goofy and with the biggest heart and brought the comedy in a way the show seriously needed. i loved that he inspired yusuke to try harder with genkai's training. him falling in love with yukina was perfectly played out. loud and rambunctious and the moral backbone of the show. shuhei uesegi made me cry and i don't care that his hair is not the iconic pompadour - he's kuwabara. (also let's talk about the chains on his school uniform buttons?? the lining???? the fauxhawk his hair turns into when it's free of that gel)
hiei: he's serious. he's snarky. he's angry. he will stand twelve feet away from anyone else. he's awkward with his long lost sister. kanata hongo was perfect. the only downside to his character was when he zooms around, the sound effect is - cartoony. which, would have been fine in an anime, but in live action was a little Much. but! that has nothing to do with kanata hongo's acting - in which he was perfect. solemn and annoyed and on a mission. hiei is my favorite character, so i was a little skeptical about the changes they made to him, but i fucking loved every second he was on screen. the choice to have him use the shadow sword to attain a jagan eye was brilliant, it really tied in the yukina storyline with the artifacts of darkness storyline in a way that the og series couldn't (considering hiei was meant to be a one off character). though im sad this would eliminate his past with shigure. loved seeing hiei jump around and run fucking fast, him leaping off the tower to cut a car in half was so cool, dayum. i wish we had more scene with him.
kurama: babygirl. the prettiest. aloof and deadly. did i mention the ponytail he wears for his school uniform? (speaking of - if the blazer and tie was his school uniform, what is the gold lined magenta uniform for? if thats just what kurama wears in general - he's insane. i love it). jun shison brought it. he captured the mysterious side to kurama, the sharp and deadly side, while still managing to show how much heart kurama has. and lets not forget youko kurama <- absolute badass. meaner. faster. his bushy tail and ears will live with me forever. he made kurama's whip look terrifying and his plants even scarier (and sexier?). his big doe eyes were so disarming, he stole every scene.
overall - every actor (not just the main four) nailed it perfectly. i'm crossing my fingers for a season two at the very least.

this includes variations on school uniforms, casual outfits, and phantom thief costumes! (NOT dlc outfits, that's cheating) (also no morgana for obvious reasons, i am not counting his one human outfit in third semester)
