Anyways, practicing anatomy with the Ox here and I’m pretty happy with my results! Also mucking around with my art style for these ones, going much more free hand and simplistic with resucing the amount of sketches I was doing for these! I feel so bad calling him just Ox, he needs some sort of name I swear😭

I was reading book 3 today on the train (and yeah it’s depressing but so well written omg I could write a book on how superb tgcf’s writing is) but the main thing my dumb brain decided to latch onto is YUSHI HUANG. Imagine Pei Ming finally coming to accept that he has a big huge fat crush on Yushi Huang, only to discover that the Rain Master is a lesbian.

Imagine, then, the dazzling General Ming Guang, the notorious Lady's Man™️ and infamous womanizer, determinedly going to his best friend and fellow tumor Ling Wen, asking her to please teach him how to use his spiritual power to change genders. Ling Wen stares up at him stone-faced and deadpan from her desk, one eyebrow twitching, and asks, "Come again?"

Cut to a scene of Yushi Huang and a very pretty femme General Ming Guang riding on the back of her ox through a wheat field at dusk, with Pei Ming sitting behind her, arms wrapped around Rain Master's waist and chin resting on her shoulder, smiling and dreamy-eyed and contented, affections never straying again.

Rereading TGCF, and wouldn't it be cute if the ox cart driver and the ox from the first book are Yushi Huang and her ox in disguise?

She and Hua Cheng seem to be cool with each other, and later on he reaches out to her to help save Xie Lian (and even shows up as one of her farmers! Cute!)

Also,the ox cart driver calls the ox "Old Huang". Maybe not significant, but maybe??

So what if, after finding out Xie Lian is back, he called out to her to please please help him with a meet-cute idea.

Enemies to lovers but it's Pei Ming and the Ox.

General Pei knows that going to pester Yushi Huang in her village is excruciating for the Ox, mostly because Yushi Huang doesn't mind the generals visits anymore. Every time that smug pretty boy walks past him, he can't help but watch. One day the Ox decides that he's had enough of Pei Ming strolling by as if he was innocent and pure so he corners him, behind the cottage. They go back and forth giving reasons as to why the general should stay or why he should leave but eventually the Ox lets it slip that he'd been watching the general, even told him how pretty he was. Now, being the playboy he is, Pei Ming is scheming ways to mess with the Ox. So, the next time he walks past he blows a kiss to him. Utterly dumbfounded, the Ox trails behind Pei Ming and demands an explanation. Oh how he wished he hadn't done so because now general Pei had him right where he wanted him, in the clamp of his arms as they hid behind the cottage "arguing". It's just a shame that general Pei was such a good kisser, because now the Ox can't get enough.

I want more people to invest in this ship, it works.

Yeah, living with humans makes me appreciate every day Yushi Huang wisdom when she decided to live on a little farm in the mountains with only an ox as her best friend.
