Grieving, grieving, grieving. That's all I can do lately. I grieve everything. I think my very blood has turned to sorrow.

more modern fits 🙅
while drawing this, i had a few thoughts
can we just talk about the fact that his entire identity is centered around him being an artist ? drawing the monstrous c0 face on his shirt made me think ... art is about self expression, and laying one's self out in the open, exposing one's soul, but deidara's art is about destruction.
if we want to think about it this way, deidara is basically destroying himself over and over, through his art. catharsis? sublimation? it can be both. but clay being the material used, it means he can mould then destroy himself endlesslyand aside from the fact that his heart might have the biggest concentration of chakra in order to achieve the caliber of the c0 explosion, on the other hand .. it is as if he doesn't leave a trace of his own heart, and his heart is inaccessible.
since his identity is centered around being an artist, it is a façade he has convinced himself of, and also convinced the world of, which is why he loses his mind when one denies him the acknowledgement of this identity. since his sense of self depends on being recognized as an artist, he cannot accept rejection in that matter, because otherwise, his identity would be null. maybe even unknown to himself. because, aside from being an artist, what else is known? nothing
instead of creating, he destroys. his true self is unknown, and he keeps a distance between his heart and the world ? maybe, his heart and self are like hardened clay, easy to shatter. maybe, his self is fragmented, and unified through his art. which is why, he cannot accept to be denied as an artist.
if art is his entire personality, then nothing else has to be faced or contested. one of my headcanons is that his relationship with his father was not good. he was disapproving, and dismissive of deidara and his art. so deidara sought external validation, and got the praise through his sculptures. so when his father destroyed his sculptures, deidara sublimated the pain and shock by seeing beauty in destruction .. which ever since, he sought more and more destruction, the art of a single moment,
because everything is fleeting, it is not meant to last. not even the self———his self, which he keeps shattering and reconstructing, then shattering again. no wonder his ultimate art is to destroy himself completely, leaving no trace.
just a scar on the earth ... but his existence was a flash, and nothing remains of him...
just a thought

Reddit user Duan_Meiqi posted an exploitable image, asking which characters were wearing which shirts. I haven't drawn something so fast in a while lmao.
