Hmm... There are a couple that are really close to each other on this list, but I'm going to go with the fic that kicked off my writing "career" on AO3: What Makes Us Human - a Viktuuri sci-fi fic that is vaguely Star Trek in setting for the Yuri on Ice fandom. Gosh. I can still remember getting the idea for this fic and planning it out in my head 😂 It was supposed to be a one shot, neatly told in ~10K words or so. 7 chapters and 42.7k words later and this is? maybe? only halfway done ha ha haaaa. Last updated on March 12, 2018, I still think and dream about finishing this fic sometimes. Maybe one day 🥲

🌈is there a fic that you worked *really fucking hard on* that no one would ever know? maybe a scene/theme you struggled with?

Omg yes /)_(\ There's the actual first fic I started writing sometime in 2016 that is as of yet still unpublished. It's a Haikyuu!! Fantasy AU fanfic that I've thought and world-built so much about in my head and looks like I put down about 40 chapters and 177.7k words so far 😅

Will it ever see the light of day? Only God knows and even he's not sure (❁´◡`❁)

💝what is a fic that got a different response than you were expecting?

One fic that comes to mind is Oikawa Tooru is Used to Attention. It was a fic for the Haikyuu Secret Santa 2018 exchange and I was super excited to gift it and get to know my giftee. Up until then, I had had a really positive experience with the Haikyuu fandom and this exchange event in particular.

However, I never got any acknowledgement from my giftee ever. I tagged my giftee on tumblr, but I don't think I ever got so much as a like :') So yeah, my dreams of making a new friend withered and died haha Sad story but it was my first wake up call that fandom isn't always a pleasant place. It's all still just people being people.

Well, well, well... if it isn't the Ilo Pisara squad serving up a performance that's about as inspiring as watching paint dry on a Zamboni. Let's talk turkey here: we just got plucked 4-5 by Sandels with only 12 shots to our name! VETOJA HYVÄT HERRAT! Sami Noddy, you're like a Swiss Army knife out there – useful in many situations but when it comes to shooting, apparently more corkscrew than blade. Two measly shots? What were you doing out there—conducting an orchestra? And Yuri Tarde—you've got 'playmaker' written all over you except for those ten giveaways which scream 'secret Santa'. Four shot attempts and half of them hit the net; at least your accuracy is better than your decision-making. Jani Saari seems to be the only one who came to play hockey instead of hide-and-seek with the puck. Six shots on goal and two lighting the lamp? You’re like that one glimmer of hope in my otherwise dark day. Remember folks, this isn't horseshoes or hand grenades—close doesn’t count! We need wins like we had against Piska Mig Stensport where we dominated 8-4. That’s ancient history now though because today was about as successful as trying to teach piranhas vegetarianism. So let’s lace ‘em up tighter next time because another loss will have me questioning if our team strategy involves playing blindfolded darts with our skates on ice. Redemption awaits—or else my wit might start taking aim at egos rather than opponents’ nets!

MARRIAGE was an beginning to everything, contemplating whether they were ready for little gremlins running around the house, waking up to breakfast in bed if they're nice enough or you married an total sweetheart, sleepy cuddles because work is being an total meanie, attempting to cook and bake together and miraculously comes out amazing or...50% edible.

It also served as an red thread tying your fate together, Yuri Katsuki had thought long and hard about this with an mixed of some negative thoughts that he forcibly shoved down to the darkest corners of his mind...that wasn't the point.

You were always there with him, comforting him when he was feeling down, supporting him regardless of what he wanted to do, you never forced him to do anything, you were always patient with him. He would've asked why you were with him when there were other amazing people out there, but he already knew what you were going to say.

"Well, it's because I love you."

I love you. 3 words and 8 letters, just that was enough for him to go weak on his knees and all smiley. As cheesy as it is, if it was you that he was going to commit to. He wouldn't mind, rather he would like that. All these domestic thoughts and daydreams of marriage all lead to where he was today.

One knee down, an velvet box that held an simplistic yet gorgeous ring.

"[Name]...You're the person I want to see whenever I wake up, eat pork cutlet rice with, become wrinkly old grandpa and grandma with you, and there are so so much more things I want to try with you. You've always been my rock, and as cheesy as it is you're the brightest star in my eyes, and you will always be. Sure you were kind of predicted or guessed it but you still malfunctioned anyways, Yuri wasn't exactly so slick with the stuttering and blushing increasing twofolds, and the sudden interest in rings. You quickly pulled yourself together, closing the mouth that was left unhinged when you malfunctioned.

An shy smile stretched across your face, as you gently held Yuri's arms to get him to stand up as the grass was going to soil his pants if he were going to kneel down any longer. You gave him a quick peck to the lips, with your cheeks as pink as cherry blossoms, you gave the love of your life your answer.

"If I'm the shining star in your world, then you won't have any complains on being the moon to my star, won't you?.....In short. Yes, I'll marry you, you adorable human being."

Yuri lips began to tremble, overwhelmed by the amount of happiness and warmth he was feeling. He slowly placed the ring on your finger, interwining your hands with his, he brought you close and gave you a tight hug. The tears he has been trying to hold back, broke free.

You rested your chin on his shoulder, soothingly rubbing his back. Your own tears streaming down, a way of expressing the wild emotions jumping around within you. The butterflies in your stomach must be having war right now. You couldn't help the large smile painted on your face.

God forbid anyone or anything that tries to separate them, only death can do them apart now.

Okay, here is the third of three short fics I wrote for secret santas this year. :) I am happy to report that the giftees all seemed to like them!

This was for my friend Jess on the smaller server I hang out on most of the time. ^_^ This story was one of those moments of Writing Zen where it just came bursting out of my head fully formed and practically wrote itself in one session with no breaks. Those are SO rare and fun. The last one I had was Birthday Wish back years ago. ^_^ So thank you for that Jess!!! :D
