April Fools Year 1.1: Shuffle Units

TL;DR: For April Fools, Miku brought us to explore an alternate timeline for a day. All the characters are the same ones we know and love; however, if their stories had shifted just slightly....

Aoharu/friends consists of Ichika, Saki, Ena, and Airi. They are a band who want to enjoy youth together. Ichika plays guitar, Saki synthesizer, Ena drums, and Airi bass.

YUME YUME JUMP! consists of Kanade, An, Shizuku, and Shiho. They are a recently-formed trial idol unit with the goal of spreading hope through music.

Fantasista SQUAD consists of Akito, Toya, Tsukasa, and Rui. They pair up as street performers with the goal of putting on incredible performances in back alleys.

Happiness Sentai SunnySunny☆Wonder! consists of Emu, Haruka, Mafuyu, and Kohane. They work together to put on a play at the Wonder Stage for a class project.

Fellow Hobbyists on Days Off. consists of Mizuki, Honami, Nene, and Minori. They are a Nightcord circle who bond over having passionate interests.

Aoharu/friends Cover: Aoku Kakero! (feat. Hatsune Miku)

Saki wants to enjoy her adolescence by starting a band. She invited Ichika, who wants to cover Miku songs, and Airi, the idol who inspired her in the hospital, to join. Airi also invited Ena, an old friend and Kamiyama night school student.

The band all visit Phoenix Wonderland together. Saki wants to get their photo taken, but Ena's hesitant. Airi convinces her to join, since neither of them can deny Ichika and Saki's eagerness.

The group discuss Airi's strictness during band rehearsal. They decide to come up with incentives for completing all their practice goals. Ichika wants to go to a Miku concert, Saki wants to go hiking, and Ena wants to crash one of Akito's performances.

YUME YUME JUMP! Cover: Happy Synthesizer

The members all greet each other for the first time. Shizuku formed the group with Kanade, who was pushed into it to save others with her music in new ways, Shiho, a temporary member who wants experience as a professional musician, and An, who's excited for a challenge.

Kanade quickly becomes exhausted during practices. An jokingly suggests she tries a power suit the strange guy at her school built. Shiho points out shortcuts like that defeat the point of spreading hope. They decide to improve Kanade's stamina by running with her every morning, much to her dismay.

YUME YUME JUMP prepare for their debut event. Shizuku explains the name of their group as symbolizing the overlapping dreams of their group before they head out on stage.

Fantasista SQUAD Cover: Ifuudoudou (feat. KAITO)

The four discuss stage names based on their last names (much to Akito's annoyance): "Pegasus" Tenma, "God Generation" Kamishiro, "Blue Willow" Aoyagi, and "Daybreak" Shinonome. Toya had convinced Akito to join since Tsukasa and Rui could teach them about performance. Akito agrees if they can call their group something other than "Pegasus Dogs".

They decided on "Fantasista SQUAD" after the soccer and acting term for a skilled player. Tsukasa declares their group ready to be known in backstreets all around the world. Akito does not know what that means.

Akito and Toya watch Rui direct Tsukasa through a dance. They admire his attention to detail and knack for performance. Rui finally notices them and begins directing them, too. Toya takes the vague directions earnestly. Akito is still confused.

Happiness Sentai SunnySunny☆Wonder! Cover: Positive Dance Time (feat. Kagamine Rin)

The four members of the class project introduce themselves. Mafuyu was assigned leader due to being the oldest. Haruka joined since she liked the theme of "making people smile", and Kohane is a big fan of Phoenix Wonderland. Emu is scared of Mafuyu. They begin planning their show.

Emu plays a character named "Sunny Sunny Happy Emu", Mafuyu "Goodness Smile Mafuyu", Haruka "Stoic Challenger Haruka" and Kohane "Makeover Beast Kohane", the four members of "Happiness Sentai SunnySunny☆Wonder!". Mafuyu asks why Emu gave her the trait of "unshakable", but Emu's too scared to admit it's because she can't make Mafuyu smile for real. Kohane guesses it's because she's a reliable leader.

Haruka asks who the villain of the play will be. Mafuyu suggests playing that role, "demonstrating" a cold, unfeeling character, "Darkness Smile Mafuyu". Emu hesitates since she wants everyone, including Mafuyu, to smile, so Haruka suggests having it be a secret agent type character they eventually befriend.

Fellow Hobbyists on Days Off. Cover: Venom

The group have their first offline meeting. Mizuki introduces themself as the founder and lover of cute things and anime. Nene explains her fondness for musicals and competitive games. Minori is a fan of former idol Haruka. Finally, Honami loves walking her dog, gardening, and apple pies.

At their second offline meeting, the four discuss how nice it is to have people who listen to them ramble about their hobbies. Mizuki and Nene find it especially nice since they don't go to school often and have social anxiety, respectively. Honami and Minori are now dog walking buddies, too.

The group discuss Happiness Sentai SunnySunny☆Wonder!'s performance. Mizuki liked the story and Nene the music. Minori was so starstruck seeing Haruka in person that she stopped paying attention to her surroundings. After snapping her back to reality, they all decide to go eat a snack and discuss more.

Aoharu/friends' whole concept is them making the most of their adolescence and youth, plus that one area conversation of them at Phoenix Wonderland? Ichika and Saki were so baby, and Airi and Ena the cgs ever.

YUME YUME JUMP! I just feel like them looking after Kanade is really cute, but dangit any of them being small would be perfect.

Fantasista SQUAD? Like none of them had good childhoods- plus if their Kaito was a combination of VBS's and WxS's, that'd be the ultimate big brother figure of all time!

Happiness Sentai SaniSani☆Wonder!'s whole goal is to make children smile, plus it's made up of, in my opinion, four of the little guys of all time, so who's to say they don't deserve that kind of happiness too?

Fellow Hobbyists on Days Off is meant to be a relaxing place where they all feel safe to talk about interests they may have been shunned for before, and seeing as age regression is something many have experienced people being bad to them because of it, they deserve a place to feel safe to be small as well.

The outfits for the April Fools units just being recolors ticked me off so I made my own with the power of photo editing and dress-up mode, under the cut :D

Since the main difference in Leo/need's outfits beyond the colors is their jackets and bows, I figured the same would apply to Aoharu/friends. Airi's is sleeveless like an idol's outfit, and Ena's is closed so she doesn't get paint and such on her shirt while doing art. Airi wears her ties as bows in her hair, and Ena's is a bow to emphasize cuteness and such.

Even though MORE MORE JUMP's standard outfits are already quite uniform, I wanted to give YUME YUME JUMP's more personalized traits, not only the ones shown in their live2ds but also Shiho's shorts and socks, An's knee socks and fingerless gloves, and Kanade's undershirt and leggings. The group also all wear flowers in their hair, An no longer having the stars in her hair due to no longer being a street musician, and Kanade's being attached to headphones to both help with her composing and so she isn't overwhelmed by noise and such as an idol.

I wanted to give Tsukasa and Rui more street musician-esque outfits and hairstyles, thus their anniversary hairstyles are used with Tsukasa wearing Len's No seek No find outfit and Rui wearing Akito's Find A Way Out one. Not much to say here, I just wanted Tsukasa and Toya to have matching necklaces and for Rui to still look whimsical whilst being a street musician.

I feel like Happiness Sentai Sunny-Sunny Wonder☆ have the best outfits of the five (seeing as, you know, they're not all the same thing), but I wanted to try and give them outfits that emphasize both their "ranger" concept and their stage names (Sunny-Sunny Happy Emu, Goodness/Darkness Smile Mafuyu, Stoic Challenger Haruka, Makeover Beast Kohane).

I'm not sure why, but I feel like decora fits Fellow Hobbyists on Days Off a lot, at least going off of their Venom 2DMV, they just deserve to be pink and mildly over the top and somewhat edgy and yay.

4 Yume Yume Jump drabbles for Day 5 of MMJ Fan Week on Twitter

one, two, three, the four of them—if nobody else, Kanade has to do everything she can to support all of them. She wasn’t supposed to be an idol. Producers don’t perform, and Kanade doesn’t dance. She’s not accustomed to leaving her house let alone meeting up for singing and dance rehearsals everyday. The sudden lifestyle change has been exhausting, but even so, if personally delivering the music she writes can help even one person, if being a fourth member can do any good for the others, if she can find a way to save herself, then she has to try.

five, six, seven, eight—this is so stupid. Shiho should be playing at a concert or at least running fingering drills until the strings of her bass are worn. She doesn’t understand how she could let herself get roped into something that has nothing to do with her goal; least of all she understands why she’s starting to care so much. Her sister and their manager promised her freedom as a temp. So what if she doesn’t have the choreography down entirely? She doesn’t need to dance where she’s going. Shiho isn’t an idol. Why is she suddenly trying to be?

one, two, three, four—An has to memorize every step. She needs to be able to move without hesitation, without thought. These movements will become second nature so that she can focus the most on singing, performing, and delivering. She finally has people to perform beside, and she only had to give up what was most important to her to find them. After such a sacrifice, she has to do everything to not lose them too. If she is going to stand a chance of living her dream, she must make every action count or run herself into the ground trying.

five, six, seven, eight—no, that’s not right. Do it again. Shizuku has to gain full control of her body. Every step, point, and turn is intentional. As the recognizable name, the selling point, the beautiful face of Yume Yume Jump, she has to do all she can to live up to their expectations—no, that’s not right. She has to surpass them. They all have to surpass what they think they can be to stand a chance with a crowd. She must do her best—be perfect. In front of adversity, she quickly realizes the only thing they can do is try.
