so here's more of her and josuke's ridiculous pining that doesn't go anywhere for a long time and their friends being so over it

There's a thud against Sunny's window that scares the shit out of her, initially. Then, there's another, and Sunny realizes that there are rocks raining down on her window.

There's another rock that collides with her window, and she realizes it's coming from below. She scrambles to peer out her window, and nearly bursts a blood vessel when she sees Josuke and Okuyasu clutching rocks in their hands. Koichi looks stressed from what she can see from upstairs, and Yukako could not be bothered.

When she unlocks her window and opens it wide, she yelps when one of the rocks (probably thrown by Okuyasu) hits her in the forehead. She's very lucky it was relatively small, but Okuyasu was no weak man.

Okuyasu's gasp could be heard all the way upstairs. "You alright?!" he calls.

She peaks her head back out the window, rubbing absently at her forehead. "Yeah! I'm fine! What are you guys doing?"

"We wanted to see you," Josuke butt in, hands cupped around his mouth.

"You're lucky Rohan's not here! You guys would've been chased off already!" Sunny laughs as she ducks back into her room. "Except for maybe Koichi," she mumbles to herself as she makes her way to the door to welcome her friends in.

As soon as Sunny opens the door, Josuke and Okuyasu crowd around her in a group hug. She laughs with surprise at the suddenness of it, and wraps her arms as far around them as she can reach. Which isn't much, she's a fair bit smaller than them.

She squeezes them tight for a moment before ducking under them to greet Yukako and Koichi.

"We're gonna hide up in my room," she says, taking Josuke's hand like she always does. "Just in case Rohan comes home."

They pretty much already knew the plan. Sunny doesn't know why they keep coming to her house, when Rohan barely even tolerates them. The only one out of her friends that he actively likes is Koichi. But he'd flay her alive if he found Josuke or Okuyasu in his house.

As soon as her bedroom door shuts behind her, Josuke wastes no time snagging her by her waist and dragging her over to collapse onto her unmade bed. He's so clingy.

Not that she bothered to complain. Sunny just took up her designated spot during their hangouts, right under Josuke's arms. The feeling that would erupt in her chest every single time she took this spot was just so addicting. Like a damn geyser of affection bursting in her chest every time she settled in under the weight of his arms.

Everyone else took their favorite spots. Okuyasu settles on the floor at the end of the bed, and Yukako drags Koichi over to her beanbag chair beside her cabinet full of decorative teapots.

"I don't know why you guys keep coming to my house," Sunny grumbles. Throws her legs over Josuke's. "You know how Rohan feels about most of you."

She watches as Koichi gives a sheepish wince.

Yukako flips her hair over her shoulder and cuddles closer to her boyfriend. "I'm only here because Koichi is here. I normally wouldn't want to be anywhere near your freakish brother."

"Hey," Sunny laughs, only a little offended on her brother's behalf.

"You probably don't know this," Okuyasu begins. "Since you grew up around it all. But you have some cool shit in your house."

Josuke laughs lightly into the skin of Sunny's neck at that. She has to fight down an instinctive shiver. She's way too ticklish. "Seriously, Sunshine. You have a Super Nintendo! In your room!"

She shrugs sheepishly, a little flustered. "Rohan got it for my birthday."

"Rohan used his fancy artist money to get it," Okuyasu teased.

"Whatever. You guys probably didn't come here to make fun of my rich upbringing." She digs around in her bedside dresser to find her sketchbook. Lays it over her legs like a makeshift desk. "What did you guys want to do?"

Josuke hooks his chin over her shoulder and watches her draw. "Honestly, we didn't even have a plan."

Koichi makes a face like he wants to say something, but ultimately he decides not to. Yukako is not so nice. "We had a plan. It's just that plan didn't originally involve coming over to your house to come get you and instead we'd wait for you at Tonio's. So Josuke decided he'd derail the plan and come here anyway."

Josuke shifted to start yelling at Yukako, but it shifted Sunny's legs and made her mess up a pencil line. She made a tiny upset noise in the back of her throat, quiet enough that it shouldn't have been heard, but Josuke already knew he disrupted her drawing. He directs his attention from Yukako to Sunny to apologize. "Awh, sorry, Sunshine, didn't mean to mess you up."

Sunny doesn't see it as she whispers to Josuke that it's fine, but Yukako motions to Josuke and Sunny's cuddled forms with a face that says, 'this is what I mean'.

"Anyway, Sunny, we were gonna hang out at Tonio's but none of us have the money and were kinda banking on you paying for us." Yukako was always so blunt. Sunny kinda loved that about her though. "Wanna come out with us to Tonio's?"

Sunny laughed. "Yeah, sure, in a bit. Not right now, though. I'm comfortable."

Sunny doesn't see when Yukako flicks an unimpressed stare to Okuyasu and Koichi. A face like 'Oh my God, are you serious?'

And Sunny doesn't see as Josuke has to hide his face in her shoulder because of the redness covering his cheeks and ears. He can't with her, she's too cute. All cozy and cuddled up to him as she doodles in her book.

He doesn't even care that the rest of their friends look so done with them.

It had been the following week after Madeline’s birthday when Jouske asked her out on an official date. She was quite nervous about it but her older sister Daniella and cousin Nefera assured her everything will go well.

First Jouske took her on a motorcycle ride for the first half of their night around town then to a cool dinner joint in town. As they waited for their food Jouske spotted Okuyasu and Koichi sitting in the far back of the dinner in weird disguises. Jouske did his best to make sure Madeline didn’t look back but when it came time for desert, Okuyasu wearing a fake mustache (that was falling off) placed the milkshake for two in front of them. Madeline thought it was funny while Jouske was utterly embarrassed.

Then soon ride off to the park for a small walk under the stars.Jouske started to apologize for what happened until Madeline hushed him as a tune started to play, “ just dance with me ok” she said to him. They swayed to the melody enjoying each other’s company, he picks her up as the moonshines brightly behind her and smiles. She looks down at him smiling back “ I wish this night could last forever” they both said in unison unintentionally and let out a few giggles.

Chapter 1 - the beginning

Josuke and you have been… well acquainted to say the least. But as of now, you’re sitting in your carriage waiting for Yukako to board to finally leave. Where are you going? You might ask.

Well,

you’re leaving the East Empire.

let’s trace our steps back however to who you are and how you got here.

you are the lady in waiting of the princess of the west Empire, Yukako Yamagishi, you grew up together so you are (some what) comfortable around each other.

“but Y/n,” she sighed while you brushed her treasured hair.

Only you have been trusted to touch and style her hair, and of course she does the hair care herself.

“oh I’m sure all is going to be well your majesty,” you replied.

“Y/n, please just call me Yukako” she smiled at you through the mirror, putting you some what at ease. you are stressed, after all, this is an important event that the Yamagishis are attending.

the name rings in your ears however, but you shake it off, “Yukako,” you stopped yourself though.

Yukako studied your face through the mirror before smiling softly, “we don’t have to be so formal when we’re alone Y/n,” she smiled once more, “well? tell me what’s wrong.”

you let out a small sigh of relief before saying, “you don’t think this prince of the east is… that Josuke do you?”

“oh no, i’m sure he isn’t Y/n,” she chuckled, “and even if it is, Y/n, we will only be there for a few days” she placed a reassuring hand on yours as you put down her hairbrush.

“your right,” you replied reassured, “now, shall I get your dress ready?”

“yes please, Y/n.” she smiled.

“well then, I’ll be back shortly, please excuse me Yukako,” you said walking towards the door.

“yes of course,” she smiled once more before you closed the door.

not too far away, josuke was having the same conversation… well… just about… only, they were much more comfortable around each other.

“KOICHI,” Josuke shouted across the room.

“YES?” he shouted back, poking his head out of the bathroom, just tidying things up after josuke’s song and dance filled shower, as per usual… surprisingly…

“Could you please ready my cloths while i do my hair?” Josuke replied a bit more calmly this time.

“Yes of course, want me to get okuyasu for you? you know, to keep you company?” koichi asked.

“sure, thats very thoughtful of you,” Josuke smiled at Koichi through the mirror and Koichi excused himself.

Josuke was still concentrated on his hair when Okuyasu bursted through the door in song.

Okuyasu is the son of the now deceased king of Shizuku, and is soon to inherit the throne of Shizuku as King (though people are gossiping about how he might finally claim his land as an empire, you know how the press likes to gossip).

“JOSUKE~” he sing-songed, “did you hear, did you hear?” he chirped as he sat down on the couch.

“yes i have,” josuke rolled his eyes.

“HEY I SAW THAT,” Okuyasu shouted, but soon he sighed, “are you going to be okay?”

“wow i never knew you cared about me,” josuke dead panned, “of course i’d be fine,” josuke smiled, though it soon disappeared, “well i have to don’t i?” josuke said finishing his hair.

there was silence in the room, and it was not long before Okuyasu broke it, “well then, we must get you ready, TO THE CHANGING ROOM!!!” Okuyasu exclaimed.

Yukako has been dressed and so have you, for the princess was allowed to bring a trusted lady in waiting to the event.

you’ve been anxious this entire morning, and Yukako has noticed this slight change in behavior.

she placed her hand on yours reassuringly, “you’ll be fine Y/n,” she smiled, “and i’m here as always.”

“yeah i know.” you replied softly with a smile.

the carriage soon slowed down and the sound of the other carriages got louder and closer, “well then, we’re almost there.” you said as the carriage lined up behind the empress’ (which was behind the emperor’s)

and soon enough, the carriage stopped. Yukako got off first and you stepped off behind her, the sound of the press scribbling and the shutters sounded at once behind you near the gate. The royalties arriving now are only the ones close to the empire of the east. We were greeted by the workers of the palace who then escorted you to our respective rooms. the kings, queens, emperors and empresses were escorted to one side of the guests estate while the princesses and princes where escorted to the other side.

Yukako’s escort brought you to her room, “your lady in waiting can reside in the room to your left, Miss,” she bowed and then opened the door for Yukako and you to enter.

“Very well then,” Yukako replied, “could you please deliver our luggage to our room please?” she smiled kindly at the maids behind us.

“yes of course,” the maids curtsied then left, closing the door behind them.

Josuke heard the ruckus caused by the press earlier while the royal families of other countries and empires arrived (because his room was the closest to the guest estate). He was alone as of now and fixing his hair again as Koichi knocked on his door, “Come in,”

“your clothes have been prepared Josuke.” Koichi said after entering the room.

“thank you, I’ll be there shortly.” Josuke replied and Koichi left.

Josuke sighed. There is a ball to attend tonight, it’s a ball his parents are holding to cover up a meeting with the emperor and empress of the west claiming it’s a ball held for celebration, though Josuke wasn’t sure what celebration, he went along with it regardless.

the ball will commence in an hour and you are due to arrive at least half an hour in advance, “shall we get going then Yukako?” you asked as you put on the finishing touches of her makeup.

“mhm,” she hummed getting up off the chair, “let’s go.”

Josuke was already at the ball, enjoying the drinks and snacks brought around by the butlers of the palace, granted that not many people were here yet, he was still ordered to arrive nat no later than six, for the ball to begin at seven. It is to last till at least midnight, and Josuke wasn’t looking forward to it.

the sound of high heels sounded on the grand staircase to the ball and Josuke got up to greet them, for they were the first people to arrive.

His eyes fell upon the two girls walking down the staircase, his eyes widened ever so slightly, his lip ,which were slightly parted, pressed together and he froze up but only for a brief moment. (that did not go unnoticed by Koichi)

Koichi opened his mouth to say something, but before he could ask Josuke if he was alright, Josuke was already walking towards the bottom of the staircase to greet the two girls.

“Good evening ladies,” he bowed slightly taking the princess’ hand to help her down the stairs. and while the lady in waiting was not expecting much, Josuke’s hand was held out. She paused and looked at him in the eyes, “Long time no see Y/n.”
