Round 4, Match 1

Round 4 is officially underway! Our first match-up features the winner of round 3, Martha, going up against Vector's mom! I'm sure you guys know Martha by now, but what about the lady on the right? That's what I'm here to talk about.

Vector's mom debuts in episode 136 overall (63 in Zexal II), but most of what we know about her comes from 137/64. She's shown to be much kinder than her husband, who is obsessed with conquest and wants to take over their neighboring kingdoms by force. When he eventually falls ill, Vector's mother pleads with her son to take over the kingdom in his stead, knowing that he'll be able to lead them into a more peaceful age.

Vector as a leader is very much the opposite of his father, and would rather forge peace treaties because he doesn't want to see more of their people die. Needless to say, his father wasn't very happy about that when he found out, and attempted to murder his own son for it, but his wife stepped in to protect her son.

Tragically, both of Vector's parents die in this scene: his mother by his own sword taken from him by his father, and his father succumbing to his poor physical health after killing his wife, leaving Vector alone with no one in the world to love him... And for Don Thousand to take control of.

The best part of it all? Vector's memories are changed to make him believe that he, the mad prince, killed both of his parents himself. He dies not only believing, but reveling in the idea that he was the one who'd killed them.

gx is so crazy how do you explain to someone with a surface-level understanding of what yugioh is that the series after dm features a hermaphroditic dragon-demon card spirit fusing their soul with the main character, who also has apparently been continually reincarnating for 100s of years with the card spirit's primary goal being to protect him, and when they embrace to fuse he says they shall never part again because they will forever and always from that point on be one jointed soul and body, and also he commits a borderline genocide against the card spirit race (???) and straight up kills some of his friends (they get better), and also there's a character who got his leg broken during an archeological dig and they replaced the broken bone with a dinosaur bone (???) and now he's like part dino and has fucking dino dna (?????????) and they send him to space as his dinosona to destroy a satellite that is about to destroy the earth (????????????), and also one of the teachers in the school (seto kaiba's duel school for dueling) is a homunculus and when he dies his soul (???) gets eaten by his cat and for the rest of the series he is living (?) inside of the cat's body, and also on top of all that theres a cool rival character as expected of a show targeted towards young boys who looks cool but in actuality he's lame as hell like he canonically stinks like shit cause he doesn't wash his clothes and he joins a cult and they get him out of the cult by reminding him that his real personality is being a rancid little stinky smelly bastard loser and no one likes him and he spends the entire series getting completely dunked on and also his main archetype is these things:

and then you have to concede that at the end of the day it is still an anime for a children's card game designed to sell the cards so if you ever try to explain the impact this had on your developing mind at 7 years old you'll sound sick

Ooh wait wait hear me out:

Yugi’s mom does learn about Yami Yugi/Atem and when she finds out he was the same age as Yugi when he sealed himself away she basically adopts him as her second son. She doesn’t give a flying fuck if he was a magical pharaoh, he’s a 16-year-old boy and to her he’s a baby. She insists on making food he likes, she frets if he’s hurt or sick or feeling troubled, she makes sure he gets plenty of rest, and she will give him a firm Mom Lecture now and then. At first, it’s pretty strange for Atem but he slowly leans into it, especially since, as he realizes, it’s been a very, very long time he felt like he had a mother…

Can I pour one out for Mrs. Fudo????

Despite also being a lead developer on Satellite reactor, she does not have the title of Dr. Fudo, like her husband. She also died when the reactor blew, but makes no appearance in the show while Yusei's dad comes prancing in from the afterlife like once a season. No one ever mentions or talks about her. The only time she ever appears in the series is in a shattered photograph in one scene. This is the best picture we have of her.

Mrs. Fudo, ma'am, I want you to know I'm thinking of you.

Round 2, Match 1

Welcome to the one and only match in Round 2! Due to a severe shortage of milfs, our only competitor for this round is Mrs. O'Brien, Austn's mom! You can read a little about her here if you need a refresher, otherwise: happy voting!

Mrs. O'Brien appears in episode 169 of GX throughout a few flashback scenes that take place during Axel's duel against Trueman, mainly being used to shake his composure by forcing him to remember the tragic accident that took place when he was a kid, where both of his parents were trapped in a burning vehicle, and he had to choose one of them to save- but he could only choose one.

As final as that sounds, and despite the duel leading us to believe his mother had died a horrible death when he was young, we later find out that his mom survived! The good news is quickly followed by a rather upsetting scene in which both of Axel's parents are made to forget they ever had a son :( he even disappears from their family photo, and from the world in general.

While Axel is later brought back at the end of the show, whether or not his parents' memory of him is restored as well is never confirmed. I for one would like to believe it is, since both of his parents seemed to care for him.

when my mom was a kid she was forbidden from collecting any type of cards because her mom considered them sinful. so when i wanted pokemon cards my mom remembered being mad at HER mom and enabled me. and guess what pokemon cards are a gateway to.... boom, yugioh obsession. so basically it's the catholic church's fault i'm here
