Okay okay okay, is it just me or was Yu Hui-yeon like super gay coded? Like miss “You’re beautiful when you smile. Have you always been like this?” and “Are you here to punish me? Have I been bad?” (I’m paraphrasing) to Kang Ji-won. Like legit the way she looked when Eun-Ho first started insinuating that he liked her I swear I thought she was going to say she doesn’t swing that way. Am I crazy?

Ji-won finally got her happy wedding. She gets to be happy, and she got everything good and right this time 😭
And hui-yeon catching the bouquet and offering it to eun-ho
I love this show man
My ultimate review atp, it was great. I read the welcoming and loved it, and there was definitely ALOT more drama that introduced all these new characters into he show, and I really liked it

Marry My Husband: Review Ep 9 - Ep 16 (spoilers under the cut)
Sooo I might have binged the entire half of the series in one night lololol. In my defence, it was sooo good that i absolutely couldn't leave it in between.
After an intense previous eps, eps 9-12 were even more intense. I loved how Su-min began to show her crazy side gradually, and how Ji-won acted like a total queen in the face of that crazy. Also, Ji-won dumping Min-hwan both metaphorically and literally was such a satisfactory moment *chefs kiss*.
But ngl the pregnancy twist by Su-min was genius, and totally worked out in Ji-won's favor. My favourite part was when her ex friends stormed the wedding to take revenge on Ji-won's behalf lmao.
Altho initially I felt that introducing Ji-hyuk's ex-fiancée Oh Yu-ra was a unnecessary move but as the eps progressed, the vision became sooo much clearer. If anything, BoA's character spiced up the show even more.
However I do wish we could've seen more of the potential side couples, the ending made it all worth <3
Over all a 8.5/10 show
#loved loved loved the ending!!!#our Ji-won and Ji-hyuk became such cute parents#and Hui-yeon tooo awwww#i do wish we could've seen more of her and Eun-ho's relationship tho#but oh well#it was such an amazing watch#currently watching#marry my husband#yu jihyuk#kang jiwon#jeong sumin#park minhwan#park min young#na in woo#kdrama#k drama#korean drama#tv series

Now that we have come to the end of the drama... Drama vs. Webtoon time!
I'm going to do this one a little differently, head to head, did the drama or the webtoon do it better in Marry My Husband?
Drama did it better! ML's Original Death
So in the webtoon, Ji-hyuk goes to Ji-won's funeral and then just offs himself by walking into the sea. It's not super clear why, like he barely knew Ji-won, and it felt really pathetic. I preferred the car accident.
Webtoon did it better! Su-min killing Min-hwan's mom
This didn't even come close to happening in the drama, but Su-min comes home to find the MIL from Hell having a stroke and then just turns around and leaves her on the floor. When it looks like she might recover, Su-min injects air into her veins and she dies. Su-min goes to prison for this as she doesn't kill her husband. Anyway, the drama showed us MIL very sad after her son's death, but I preferred this ending since she spent so long abusing Ji-won in the original timeline.
Drama did it better! Not So Much Love Triangle
Poor Eun-ho spent a lot more time pining after Ji-won in the webtoon. Happy that he got resolution there. Also, never felt like Eun-ho had a chance in the drama which I preferred.
Webtoon did it better! Eun-ho & Hui-yeon
I couldn't believe how little screen time these cuties got! Give me Hui-yeon proposing (at least she confessed first), give me them being in love! Why was Eun-ho not in the time-jump scene at the end?
Toss-up: Mr. Lee & Mrs. Yang
I liked the character of Mr. Lee better in the drama, but I liked Mrs. Yang's story better in the webtoon. Mr. Lee is way too nice in the webtoon, I liked his supportive and yet kind of rude persona in the drama. However, I wanted more of their story, in the webtoon Mrs. Yang's ex tries to kidnap their daughter as leverage, which is stopped, and then Mr. Lee has a very cute relationship with Mrs. Yang's daughter, who asks her mom if she'll marry Mr. Lee. We didn't really get any confirmation that they would end up together in the drama!
Drama did it better! Min-hwan's ending
Was it so satisfying to see him get the same ending he gave to Ji-won? Yes it was. In the webtoon, he sabotages his own car hoping that Su-min will die and he'll get the inheritance money. But then he drives his car to see his mom (after her stroke) and drives off a bridge. I liked this ending better.
Drama did it better! Mains as Parents
I felt like the webtoon went a little too far in making Ji-hyuk the only providing parent. I'm all for women working, but it just seemed unrealistic to me. I liked seeing both of them exhausted on the couch with their twins.
Toss-up: Plots that I Didn't Love
I really disliked Yu-ra in the drama, who I guess had to be included so she could take Ji-hyuk's fate. I think the webtoon was smart to cut her and I found her really annoying and over the top. However, I also didn't love the plot in the webtoon where Ji-won catfishes both Su-min and Min-hwan so that she can reproduce the betrayed by a friend thing. So I guess they both struggled with the third act.
Webtoon did it better! ML Doesn't Inherit
In the webtoon, Ji-hyuk decides to run his own security company and Ji-won continues at the original company. I guess the drama preferred a super rich power couple, but the webtoon was better in that way for me. I didn't love Ji-won becoming a stereotypical rich wife with a charity...
Webtoon did it better! MORE CAT
Pang (mold) the cat has a whole chapter from his POV in the webtoon. It was so cute!
Drama did it better! The Family Dinner
Honestly, I didn't think anything could top the webtoon's family dinner where Ji-won shows up in her revenge get-up, but I just loved Ji-won flipping Min-hwan so much!
Lastly, the drama really made Min-hwan and Su-min great characters. All the awards for Su-min's actress especially. Those two really came alive in a way that the webtoon just didn't do.
(and yes, I know the drama was based on the original webnovel but I'm not reading that, I like webtoons, and both are adaptations so fair comparison).

Marry My Husband (2024)
This show is not perfect, and it is certainly not Perfect Marriage Revenge, but it does have its charms.
What Worked
Like that other show about a time traveling wife who was betrayed by her family and goes back in time to get her revenge, this show was good because of its villains. Song Ha-yoon who plays the evil best friend Jung Soo-min was the most fun to watch of the baddies. She was believably bad while pretending to be nice, and watching her spiral out of control over the course of the series was a treat.
The show also made the most of its side characters, giving them interesting plots and bringing in a solid cast. I especially loved watching young actor Choi Gyu-ri bring this delightful manic energy to Yoo Hui-yeon (the younger sister / bestie). I could have used more scenes with her, and hopefully she'll break into a lead role in a future series.
What DIdn't Work
Though it had a solid final two episodes, the show sagged a bit in the last third. They brought in an evil-ex fiance character that just wasn't interesting to watch.
Also, there were a few moments where the show went from "Over the Top" to "Completely Unbelievable". Like the end of episode 13 (aka the "slowest truck of doom ever") and the end of episode 14 (aka "WTF Ji-won, don't just stand there, Kick him in the nuts, FFS!").
The Performances
Park Min-Young as ("Time Traveling Wife") Kang Ji-won. I've been kind of disappointed in PMY's choices lately, so it was nice to see her in a somewhat better role. There were moments when I felt pathos, or enjoyed the romance, but not that many. Mostly, it was the moments in the show where she got to be angry—and even a little ruthless—that I remember. Which is part of the appeal for any good revenge show.
Na In-woo as ("Future CEO") Yoo Ji-hyuk. I think he was a little wooden in this, but alot of that was the writing. The show was really focused on the FL and on her relationships, and it didn't have much space for him. I didn't really mind that, but it did make those few moments where he got to cut loose a little (like the ice cream scene) more memorable.
Lee Yi-kyung as ("The terrible ex-") Park Min-hwan. This guy was great at playing a mediocre man completely out of his depth. He was like one of those clown punching bags that just pop right up after you hit them. And it was fun watching him get beaten down and come right back up for more.
Song Ha-yoon as ("The evil bestie") Jung Soo-min. I liked watching her slowly get more evil and more crazy as the show went on. The actor did a great job making her contemptible, while pretending to be kind and thoughtful.
Lee Ji-kwang as ("The chef") Baek Eun-ho. Probably the most sympathetic character in the show. He just wants to run his restaurant and feed all his friends and get a cute girlfriend and all of these crazy people keep coming in and messing with things. Would have liked to see more of him, and his loveline, but what we got was nice.
Choi Gyu-ri as ("The Best Sister in the World") Yoo Hui-yeon. This actor had golden retriever energy and it was so much fun watching her in the middle of this craziness. I want to see an entire show with her just running around living her best life. We needed more of Hui-yeon and chef's story than we got, for sure.
Gong Min-jeung as ("Sad boss") Assistant Manager Yang. I've seen this actor a few times and I always enjoy her, though they rarely give her a good loveline. She got a pretty decent one here, despite all the other crazy stuff that happened, so that was nice. Again, could have used a few more scenes with her and Lee Seok-joon.
Ha Do-kwon as ("The Salaryman") Lawyer Lee Seok-joon. He did a good job bringing some gravity to this crazy show. Was able to be funny too (in a Butler Jeeves kind of way). Not enough time spent on him and Manager Yang's story, but what we got was good.
BoA as ("The Evil Ex-") Oh Yu-ra. This character felt more like a plot device than anything. There were a few moments where she could have felt menacing or crazy, but I don't think the actor was quite up to it. They needed to cast a real Mean Girl, but they didn't have enough story for that kind of character.
Ha Do-kwon as ("Bad Manager") Lee Seok-joon. They brought in a really good character actor and this guy made the most of the part. He felt like someone I could have met in real life, and I despised him. Which means the actor did a great job.
Everyone Else. The high school bully girls were fun to watch. Yang's husband did an okay job being despicable. The judo teammates were funny. Even the grandfather had a couple of good moments. Show did a good job taking care of its minor characters.
TL; DR:
If you liked Perfect Marriage Revenge, you'll probably like this too (and vice-versa). It's different enough that you don't feel like you're watching the same show twice. It's also not quite as good as that other show, which means people likely judged it a little harder than they otherwise might have done.

BEYOND EVIL TIMELINE

Renascent - chapter 2
Chapter 1
Ji-won was asked to sit in the waiting room as Ji-hyuk was taken into emergency. She had ridden with them in the ambulance and answered the little she could about Ji-hyuk, he was conscious but not making much sense so he could not answer the questions himself.
But now she was forced to wait for news while the doctors worked on him. All she had were her thoughts that made as much sense as the man they were about. Why did he drive in front of the Truck? It would have hit me so he did it to save me? Why was he even there? What does he mean the inevitable just happened? Why does that phrase sound familiar? Her thoughts whirled round and around until a voice broke through them.
“Ms. Kang!” Hui-yeon walked in with her Grandfather and Mr. Lee not far behind. “Have they said anything?”
“No, they’re still with him and have only told me to wait.” Ji-won held out the paperwork she had been given to fill in for him, “But they need this.”
Mr. Lee stepped forward to take it as Chairman Yu stared at her, “What were you doing with Ji-hyuk that he got hit by a car?”
Ji-won shook her head, how could she tell them he did it on purpose. “We weren’t together, I didn’t even see Yu Ji-hyuk before the truck hit him.”
Chairman Yu opened his mouth to say something else but Hui-yeon spoke first. “Don’t blame her Grandfather, it was an accident.”
He grunted and waved them away as he sat down to wait for news. Hui-yeon sat beside him and laid her head on his shoulder as Mr. Lee turned to Ji-won and thanked her for calling them. “You should go home now Ms. Kang, Chairman Yu does not want you here.”
Tears filled her eyes as she nodded in agreement, “I should feed Pang he’ll be wondering where Yu Ji-hyuk is.”
“The cat he made the trust agreement for?” Mr. Lee spoke quietly but Ji-won still heard him.
A sharp pain stabbed in her chest as she was hit with a realisation. “Yu Ji-huyk made a trust for Pang? When was this?”
“It was early December,” Mr. Lee looked at her with confusion not understanding as the tears fell down her cheeks and she held her hands to her mouth to keep the words she shouldn’t speak from spilling out.

Imagine getting fired from your job because a rumor spreads that you’re having an affair with the boss, when in reality he’s your brother. I can’t even imagine how pissed off Yu Hui-yeon must’ve been.
