Okay okay okay, is it just me or was Yu Hui-yeon like super gay coded? Like miss “You’re beautiful when you smile. Have you always been like this?” and “Are you here to punish me? Have I been bad?” (I’m paraphrasing) to Kang Ji-won. Like legit the way she looked when Eun-Ho first started insinuating that he liked her I swear I thought she was going to say she doesn’t swing that way. Am I crazy?

Jung Soo-min's POV

We all know how we collectively HATE Jung Soo-min because she's been a bitch and an evil little witch throughout the show. And not to forget the way she did not consider cherishing Kang Ji-won's (who thought was her best friend and guide) deep feelings for her and their friendship.

But the more I perceive her character individually, the more I pity her. Like any other villain who's had a tragic background, she too has come out as a pathetic character because of her past.

Imagine having parents where neither of them is supportive, loving or caring of you. We've already seen how shitty her father was, whom she used to admire a lot. Additionally, her mother blamed her for his infidelity. But what was adding onto her pain was seeing the daughter of the woman, her father was having an affair with, content and having a comparatively stable childhood which was ripped off from her. Thus, developing envy.

I do not blame Ji-won for possessing what she or any child deserves. But this is what normally every child like Soo-min might feel. She saw both of them in the same boat but felt the water being more on her side, where one went through a healthy parenting from at least one parent. She wanted it, maybe needed it. Which is why her envy turned into a hate for Kang Ji-won, building such a wall against her that she couldn't even perceive the love poured on her by Ji-won, which if she did, could have helped her sustain her inner child and relations.

To conclude, her life could have been better not only if she could introspect but also if she too had a happy childhood from the start. I do not support her tactics which she believed were for her "growth". Hence, she is one of the kdrama characters whose aura screams...
