hate to say it, but part of ending the stigma around sexual assault means not assuming every woman blames herself. yes, female socialization encourages it, but that doesn’t make it a given, and the goal of all of these campaigns is to eventually diminish the proportion of women who do blame themselves. it is entirely possible, and increasingly common, for women to experience sexual assault and not feel shame or guilt, which we should be happy about. but instead, there are only so many times you can hear “you know it’s not your fault, right?” before it sounds like “it was your fault”. and there’s only so many times you can hear “don’t blame yourself” before it sounds like “you should blame yourself”. because it feels good to say, doesn’t it? sure, you don’t believe she’s guilty, but you do believe she should feel guilty, so that you can disabuse her of the notion. just something to consider.

deeply refreshing to see someone critical of Swift who also like, genuinely likes her. Like i'm neutral to positive on her, but the online discourse has been absolutely rancid. flipping between "Taylor Swift has never done anything wrong ever and she's a fucking genius" and "Taylor Swift is the worst lyricist of all time and also a bad person" is exhausting, so thank you for like. nuance or something lmao
not to make it serious for a sec but i genuinely think that being able to like things that are bad is really important. like I think that it's an important skill to be able to look at something and see what you personally enjoy about it and then take a step back and acknowledge that objectively it's flawed. and to also be able to acknowledge that liking something isn't necessarily an identity or a moral stance. and i think that fandom space in general could really benefit from more people taking the time to learn how to do that. it's okay to like things that are bad
#people ask me sometimes why ill occasionally talk about something i like and then go 'but it's bad' and the answer is usually because it is#i love teen wolf. i love genshin impact. i love detective conan. and i fucking LOVE taylor swift. that doesnt mean theyre good#it just means i like them. and recognizing their flaws actually helps me better identify what i like about them!#it's like. in my mind bad > good is the x axis and i like it > i dont like it is the y axis yk. they're not mutually exclusive#tldr it's not that serious. we can all relax a little#irt taylor swift i do also think she has done some real harm to her fans in enabling them to deflect all criticism of her as misogyny#and i don't think it's fully the fault of these people who are parroting that response bc so much of her marketing has deliberately#reinforced this idea that to be a swiftie is to be a part of a sisterhood and that any attack on taylor is an attack on all of those women#who are in that in-group. when that's obviously not the case. but she's marketed herself as. for lack of a better term. 'girl music'#to the point where it makes her fans feel as though any criticism of the music or the woman responsible for it is an attack on their#personal experience of womanhood/girlhood/sisterhood/etc. and that's how you get all of thess bad-faith accusations of misogyny#i don't necessarily think this was her deliberate goal with her marketing tho because like. on first glance such a strong sense of communit#among fans sounds like a great thing. the friendship bracelets i got at the eras tour movie are really genuinely special to me.#but it does present a problem when your fans are unable to separate how they feel about the community and experience your music has fostere#from how they feel about you as a person. especially when you are a billionaire who absolutely CANNOT be above criticism in this economy#anyway. tldr i love taylor's music and i don't think swiftie hivemind is as deliberately malicious as it may seem#but it's obviously necessary to be able to take a step back and look objectively at what you're participating in.#anyway stream ttpd or don't idc <3#taylor swift

Genuine question: if the phrase “never again” referred to genocide on the scale of the Holocaust, why WOULDN’T you apply it to everyone? How does restricting its application to the Jewish people not imply a willingness to allow other groups to be targeted for extermination?
That's not what the phrase means. The phrase doesn't mean "never again will we let a genocide happen", it means "never again will we (Jews) let ourselves be slaughtered". Goyische leftists decided it means the former because they're jealous that we "get to have" the Holocaust, which to them isn't a generational trauma but rather the most important sport in the oppression olympics, and they feel the need to A. center themselves in it and B. compare everything else to it for shock value. "Never again means never again for anyone" is appropriating and generalising Jewish culture and trauma, which the goyische left has done time and time again because it makes them feel special. Fucking stop.

Are we honestly really truly doing "stupid anarkiddies think they can literally make INSULIN in BATHTUBS!" discourse again. I love you all but so many of you are pulling strawmen of anarchists out of your asses that have never even come close to existing in real life

And by the way just to add some like...angst to my sea beast s/i I guess 😂 I was thinking about the research I did into old selkie folk tales and how they typically tend to go and how it applies to my s/i with Batterbie stealing her coat.
1. She did it when she was still just a child and had lost her whole family, so she probably holds that over her head by saying she's lucky to have had a place to stay and food to eat at ALL and 2. That she could have it...a LOT worse 😬

It's getting to the point where instead of being encouraged, I just get pissed when people tell me their friends' success stories with getting jobs as software devs without formal education.
Everyone is like "oh yeah my friend did it without a degree, you can too!" And I'm like ok how did they get past the auto rejectors that won't even look at you if you don't have a degree? How good were they before they were hired, and who supported them while they educated themselves? Or who agreed to take them under the wing and give them a chance even though they were green?
I know people are trying to be encouraging but it's starting to feel less like "I believe you can do it" and more like "if you haven't done it yet, what's wrong with you?" They'll be like "you don't need a degree to succeed, just a willingness to learn" and I'm like, I know that as well as anyone, but to the people responsible for making budget decisions, I'm too much of a risk. What do I have to show for myself to them?
Like at the end of the day it just feels like either these folks were super lucky or I'm super unlucky and either way, hearing their stories doesn't usually help or encourage me. I'm fighting an uphill battle here trying to convince folks who think we're in an economic downtown, that a US-based junior developer is a good investment. Yuck. If you don't have anything helpful to say then at this point just don't say anything 😭
#I've always done my best learning on the job#and I'm an extremely loyal employee#to a fault definitely#but nobody is hiring junior devs or if they are it's ALWAYS offshore#I'm busting my ass trying to learn enough to make myself look like the viable candidate I think i probably am#but I'm trying to learn around a full time job and I'm the sole breadwinner and have been for years#which is fine! i don't mind! but it does make it hard to progress in something so brain-intensive when 40hrs per week is eaten by my job#and it's just a really bad time to be looking for work as a developer#idk anything about the economy but whether or not we're in an economic downturn. execs think we are#and their opinion is in some situations more influential than actual truth. this is one of those situations#my company keeps saying they're in the best financial spot they've been in since before the pandemic#but the only non senior devs they are hiring are offshore#which sucks bc they used to be really good about hiring for devs internally among people who proved their worth#i missed the last wave of that by about two years#anyway. I'm just frustrated and annoyed#stop telling me your friends' success stories unless you have specific actionable feedback#and even then think twice if you aren't in tech yourself cause i get a lot of weird advice#or unless you're offering to connect me with your friend who can either mentor me or get me a job themselves#I'm tired of hearing about it#'just put yourself out there!' just put yourself out of my earshot

i know the Willow Mellow lore gets worse the longer you dig inside of it + it reflects even Worse on the writers when you put the actual words on her situation but let's not forget Darlings she is a child. she is 15 to 17yo depending on what piece of documentation we refer to, too young to consent to sex and therefore does not fit the category of "sex worker", and instead falls under the definitions of "sexually exploited youth", more specifically "sexually exploited child", as UNICEF, UNESCO, Convention for the Rights of the Child, [...] and general common sense all define "child" as "person under the age of 18".
she is the victim of kidnapping by her """adoptive father""" and of sexual exploitation by her (presumably adult) "clients" (as she does not appear to have a pimp, and is instead written saying she loves what she does and such giddy teehee fun. [powerful side-eye through someone in the writing team.] [she's not a Real Person I have to stress, so someone wrote her like this, wrote this kid like this.] [it is all part of a narrative in which she is struggling to shake off her "father's" exploitation, an inherently tragic one, but she still was written that way, and could have been written any other way, with any other "rebellious" act]). calling her a sex worker as a child who is basically the same age as P2 Capella or Grace is putting her in a Grown-Up category especially harmful considering we are supposed to read her as an indigenous girl, member of the Kin (even if her lore is Mysterious and Hazy) and indigenous women and girls are sexualized in racialized ways which often paint them as more ~~~naturally~~~ sexually liberated, or docile, or submissive, or [insert racist x sexist stereotype promoted by colonizers to excuse the mistreatment of indigenous women and girls].
tldr yes it's worse when you actually call her what she actually is, and worse tenfold when you read what the writers make her say about it [even as an inherently tragic situation that we can recognize and put words on (hence this post), she could have been written any other way, with any other rebellious act, but you know.] but you know x2 (SIDE-EYES SOMEONE ON THE WRITING TEAM VERY HARD TIL ME EYES POP OUT ME SKULL)
#/!\ POST ABOUT SEMANTICS. POST ABOUT SEMANTICS ALERT. /!\#this is not pointed or written with wicked intents btw ^ i've seen it a few times from different people and it's just that if we want to be#able to talk about these things within the narrative and how the depictions of the Kin impact the around-game/critique this game in general#game (esp. p1 which is very much about. words and wording and navigating webs of words among so many other things)#we have to be able to name these things. especially in relation to. d*bowski do you mind coming to the mic and telling us#what was behind your head. no pressure sir#protecting this kid from the writing with my entire body like that one soldier meme#ooh d*bowski you are not making it out alive i'll tell you that much.#in the same way you wouldn't call mcdonalds hiring 14yo ''employment'' you'd call it. exploitative child labor.#but it's even worse because <3 aw the misogyny oozing through the pores of a lot of the patho narrative#because of maybe perhaps allegedly the head writer. allegedly!#how the fuck am i supposed to tag any of this#csa /#willow mellow#willow pathologic#pathologic#it'd be Less Worse if she was an adult bc at least she could consent [in a vacuum; if we ignore the fact that she's a kidnapping victim;#if we ignore the fact that the Kin who she merges with sees its women be sexualized and its ways of life crushed by the colonizers#and assimilated in ways they might not like; etc] but yknow. detailed herb brides bodies and whatnot.

A lot of current adults who grew up in the online social atmosphere of sheltered tumblr ideas are slowly becoming what I like to call ‘proto-Boomers’ because they cannot fathom the idea that they are, in fact, getting older and not younger and that they are going to be held to different standards as adults that were completely different from when they were as minors. We are going to be expected to have a level of accountability for how we act towards EVERYONE, especially minors, who will one day have to take care of us when we’re old and can’t do it ourselves.
And maybe that’s just me but it’s because of my realization of having this toxic mindset (and actually going to counseling lol) well into my mid-twenties that I’m starting to notice it outside of just myself. As well as how it has negatively impacted activism for genuine social and political change. How it’s steered the once understandable idea of ‘I don’t want kids because I don’t want them (insert any reason)’ into ‘uwu KiDs ArE sO ToXiC aNd TEenS NoWaDaYs aRe So DumB and MeAn uwu ThEy dOn’T UndErStaNd aNytHinG LikE uS 90s KiDs uwu’.
The weird behavior of adults around my age and a little older acting like they’ve lived a hundred lives over and have the authority to call the shots on whether or not minors should be seen or heard when it’s convenient for them and then have the audacity to turn around, using the most out of date, fandom baby talk to defend some crappy (most likely white) mediocre artist or creator for their ‘uwu nostalgia’ while making it seem like they’re actually doing it for a political or social reason is like…hideous to me.
I’m over it 😂

ive been having a lot of fun incorporating embroidery onto paper drawings in school recently (inspired by a printmaking teacher i had once who sometimes stitched her prints, it looked really cool!) but one thing that has kind of been bugging me is how my instructors have been talking about the gendered aspect of it. i know using any form of textile practice in contemporary art is gonna get some kind of thoughts about the historical concept of "women's work" and i dont mind that thats chill thats like normal. its not what, i, the artist, is focusing on personally, but death of the author and all that, as an interpretation its an interesting thing to think about and equally as valid as my intention. also a good topic for essays and such
BUT today my instructor tried to convince me that i can embroider directly on printer paper instead of the thicker papers ive been using and i was like ABSOLUTELY NOT maybe YOU can but I have BIG CLUMSY SWEATY HOT MITTEN HANDS and i Destroy printer paper by looking at it funny. the second a photocopy reaches my skin its already wrinkled. gloves dont help my sweat is too powerful. im CLAMMY leave me ALONE hfkjrwefhjegrfe
and there is an unconcious bias ive been noticing of a lot of very progressively minded artists assuming that i can do this shit delicately. listen. embroidery can be a very delicate and masterful skill that people hone over decades. but not everyone who does it is that skilled master. some of us just like to clumsily sew string through stuff so they can feel the texture. and some of us are really sweaty.
#actually the way my class and department faculty in general talk about gender and feminism in art is a little offputting in general recently#the focus on softness and delicateness and stereotypical markers of femininity is chill thats like an interesting thing to think about#lots of things to explore and critique and then embrace as not innate 'womanly' things but as like. human. as women are human#that type of thing. but theres been a lot of simultaneous emphasis among my peers of like this universal womanhood?#woman as the archetype. and woman as something wholly different from anything else. and the universal 'sisterhood'#i dunno im like fat mixed race kinda gnc and more visibly disabled than i think i am so i was like#never gonna be fully brought into that supposed 'universal sisterhood' anyway#and whether i personally think of myself as a woman or not in general is nobodys business least of all my own#BUT it is bizarre - this universal womanhood narrative. i think exploring one's own femininity is extremely interesting.#is it soft? is it hard? something else? all kinds of ways to think about it#i think the pitfall im falling in with my peers is the habit of assuming you need to make art as a universal message: theres no such thing#any 'universal message' you make will always exclude people you dont mean to exclude#if you depict your universal womanhood as young and soft and skinny and feminine and nuturing - then i might wonder#about the women who are outside of that. what about that fat masc 60 year old woman who cant nuture for shit#(gets so hard i get naseous. i think i hauve covid) i dunno its on my mind a lot#maybe thats just the way things go even in art spaces that are trying to be progressive? always a type of woman who is in vogue#a type of woman who is considered the default? and whoevers outside of that is left out of the conversation entirely#(<- bmpmp3 discovering the basics of misogyny live in the tags of this tumblr post LOL but yknow what i mean)

also I’ve always been super impressed with how private the guys are considering. like with their level of fame and success i’m surprised they aren’t papped more and followed lol maybe it’s just not that bad in england bc in america a celeb sets one foot out in public and they’re practically mobbed, it’s crazy. so i’m glad they’re able to just live their lives for the most part (hopefully, idk what their interactions are actually like in public obv lol)
that's because no one actually cares about bastille here babe
nah fr though dans talked about not wanting to be like 'famous' and kind of watering down their personality in early interviews and not saying anything controversial to try and stay out of the limelight, so i guess that worked lol.

I love the term "intrusive thoughts" so much, and it is actually really helpful for me. It just eases my mind a lot when I refer to it as something coming from outside and unwanted rather than something from the corners of my brain, you know? Before, I was always worried that there's something deeply wrong with me, and now it's more like "oh, it's the intrusive thoughts again? GET OUT OF THIS HEAD YOU BARBARIANS, THIS IS MY TERRITORY"

re: last ask.
artemy: “is that your mom?”
daniil: “that is. the theotokos.”
artemy, raised in the steppe, then went to the capitol and immediately stopped having time to look at anything but textbooks: “the what”
daniil: 😧
shalt not lie i do not think burakh would be that ignorant about it just because he was raised rurally & within another spirituality especially since the area has been eastern orthodox since. let me not bullshit you actually i'll check. since 987. over 900 years of the dominant powers of having it as a state religion if we take patho as being in the 1910s [even as the borders & politics have Massively Changed from the time Volodymyr I declared it so]. he spent 6 or 10 years (depending on the game you take as canon) in the Capital and whether you think that's St-Petersburg (pre-1917 revolution) or Moscow (post-1917 revolution) they both have A Shitton Of Churches. which i'm sure he'd have time to see in 10 years because some of them are fucking massive. a lot of people living in ToG are also settlers from western russia so i'm sure there are plenty of the non-Kin folks in the city who are orthodox. he's indigenous, not completely ignorant to the dominant + sprawling + colonizing force of the [christian, orthodox] culture of the country (as emphasized by his dad who sent him off to The Center of said culture for educational purposes)
however i knaur for a fact he goes "haha aw this one looks like you and your mom lol. the brows" and dankovsky would be like "oh she would love hearing you say that. i'll invite her over you can repeat that and pretend it's the first time saying it". i know this..... yeva can have a little [accidental?] blasphemy. as a treat. her son has suffered more than all the martyrs combined.
